1 To the chief music-maker. Of Jeduthun. A Psalm. Of David.
1 Eu disse comigo mesmo: “Guardarei os meus caminhos, para não pecar com a língua; porei mordaça à minha boca, enquanto os ímpios estiverem na minha presença.”
2 \39:1\I said, I will give attention to my ways, so that my tongue may do no wrong; I will keep my mouth under control, while the sinner is before me.
2 Emudeci em silêncio, calei a respeito do bem, e a minha dor se agravou.
3 \39:2\I made no sound, I said no word, even of good; and I was moved with sorrow.
3 O coração me ardia no peito; enquanto eu meditava, um fogo se acendeu dentro de mim. Então eu disse em voz alta:
4 \39:3\My heart was burning in my breast; while I was deep in thought the fire was lighted; then I said with my tongue,
4 “ Senhor , dá-me a conhecer o meu fim e qual é a soma dos meus dias, para que eu reconheça a minha fragilidade.”
5 \39:4\Lord, give me knowledge of my end, and of the measure of my days, so that I may see how feeble I am.
5 Deste aos meus dias o comprimento de alguns palmos; à tua presença, o prazo da minha vida é nada. Na verdade, todo ser humano, por mais firme que esteja, é pura vaidade.
6 \39:5\You have made my days no longer than a hand's measure; and my years are nothing in your eyes; truly, every man is but a breath. (Selah.)
6 De fato, o ser humano passa como uma sombra. Em vão se inquieta; amontoa tesouros e não sabe quem ficará com eles.
7 \39:6\Truly, every man goes on his way like an image; he is troubled for no purpose: he makes a great store of wealth, and has no knowledge of who will get it.
7 E eu, Senhor, que espero? Tu és a minha esperança.
8 \39:7\And now, Lord, what am I waiting for? my hope is in you.
8 Livra-me de todas as minhas iniquidades; não permitas que os insensatos zombem de mim.
9 \39:8\Make me free from all my sins; do not let me be shamed by the man of evil behaviour.
9 Emudeço, não abro os lábios porque tu fizeste isso.
10 \39:9\I was quiet, and kept my mouth shut; because you had done it.
10 Tira de sobre mim o teu flagelo; pelo golpe de tua mão, estou perecendo.
11 \39:10\No longer let your hand be hard on me; I am wasted by the blows of your hand.
11 Quando castigas alguém com repreensões, por causa do pecado, destróis nele, como traça, o que tem de precioso. De fato, o ser humano é pura vaidade.
12 \39:11\By the weight of your wrath against man's sin, the glory of his form is wasted away; truly every man is but a breath. (Selah.)
12 Ouve, Senhor , a minha oração, escuta-me quando grito por socorro. Não fiques insensível às minhas lágrimas, porque sou forasteiro diante de ti, peregrino como todos os meus pais o foram.
13 \39:12\Let my prayer come to your ears, O Lord, and give attention to my cry, make an answer to my weeping: for my time here is short before you, and in a little time I will be gone, like all my fathers.
13 Desvia de mim o olhar, para que eu tome alento, antes que eu passe e deixe de existir.
14 \39:13\Let your wrath be turned away from me, so that I may be comforted, before I go away from here, and become nothing.
