1 O LORD, thou God to whom vengeance belongs, thou God to whom vengeance belongs, shine forth.
1 Ó S enhor , Deus da vingança, ó Deus da vingança, manifesta teu esplendor!
2 Lift up thyself, thou judge of the earth. Render to the proud a recompense.
2 Levanta-te, ó Juiz da terra, dá aos orgulhosos o que merecem.
3 LORD, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked triumph?
3 Até quando, S enhor ? Até quando os perversos se alegrarão de suas maldades?
4 They prate, they speak arrogantly. All the workers of iniquity boast themselves.
4 Até quando falarão com arrogância? Até quando os que praticam o mal contarão vantagens?
5 They break in pieces thy people, O LORD, and afflict thy heritage.
5 Esmagam o teu povo, S enhor , oprimem os que pertencem a ti.
6 They kill the widow and the sojourner, and murder the fatherless.
6 Matam viúvas e estrangeiros e assassinam órfãos.
7 And they say, LORD will not see, nor will the God of Jacob consider.
7 “O S enhor não vê”, eles dizem. “O Deus de Israel
8 Consider, ye brutish among the people, and ye fools, when will ye be wise?
8 Pensem melhor, tolos! Quando vocês, insensatos, entenderão?
9 He who planted the ear, shall he not hear? He who formed the eye, shall he not see?
9 Acaso é surdo aquele que fez os ouvidos? É cego aquele que formou os olhos?
10 He who chastises the nations, shall he not correct, [even] he who teaches man knowledge?
10 Aquele que castiga as nações não os castigará? Aquele que tudo sabe não sabe o que vocês fazem?
11 LORD knows the thoughts of man, that they are vanity.
11 O S enhor conhece os pensamentos de cada um; sabe que nada valem.
12 Blessed is the man whom thou chasten, O LORD, and teach out of thy law,
12 Feliz é aquele a quem disciplinas, S enhor , aquele a quem ensinas tua lei.
13 that thou may give him rest from the days of adversity, until the pit is dug for a wicked man.
13 Tu lhe dás alívio em tempos de aflição, até que se abra uma cova para os perversos.
14 For LORD will not cast off his people, nor will he forsake his inheritance.
14 Pois o S enhor não rejeitará seu povo; não abandonará os que lhe pertencem.
15 For judgment shall return to righteousness, and all the upright in heart shall follow it.
15 Os julgamentos voltarão a se basear na justiça, e os de coração íntegro a buscarão.
16 Who will rise up for me against the evil-doers? Who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?
16 Quem me protegerá dos perversos? Quem me defenderá dos que praticam o mal?
17 Unless LORD had been my help, my soul would have soon dwelt in silence.
17 Se o S enhor não tivesse me ajudado, eu já estaria no silêncio do túmulo.
18 When I said, My foot slips, thy loving kindness, O LORD, held me up.
18 Gritei: “Estou caindo!”, mas o teu amor, S
19 In the multitude of my thoughts within me thy comforts delight my soul.
19 Quando minha mente estava cheia de dúvidas, teu consolo me deu esperança e ânimo.
20 Shall the throne of wickedness have fellowship with thee, which frames mischief by statute?
20 Podem os líderes injustos, aqueles cujos decretos permitem a injustiça, afirmar que Deus está do lado deles?
21 They gather themselves together against the soul of a righteous man, and condemn innocent blood.
21 Juntam-se contra os justos e condenam os inocentes à morte.
22 But LORD has been my high tower, and my God the rock of my refuge.
22 Mas o S enhor é a minha fortaleza; meu Deus é a rocha onde me refugio.
23 And he has brought upon them their own iniquity, and will cut them off in their own wickedness. LORD our God will cut them off.
23 Deus fará os pecados dos perversos caírem sobre eles; ele os destruirá por suas maldades. O S
