1 Why do the nations rage, and the peoples meditate vain things (LXX/NT)?
1 Por que tumultuam as nações? Por que tramam os povos vãs conspirações?
2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against LORD, and against his anointed, [saying],
2 Erguem-se, juntos, os reis da terra, e os príncipes se unem para conspirar contra o Senhor e contra seu Cristo.
3 Let us break their bonds apart, and cast away their cords from us.
3 Quebremos seu jugo, disseram eles, e sacudamos para longe de nós as suas cadeias!
4 He who sits in the heavens will laugh. LORD will have them in derision.
4 Aquele, porém, que mora nos céus, se ri, o Senhor os reduz ao ridículo.
5 Then he will speak to them in his wrath, and vex them in his great displeasure.
5 Dirigindo-se a eles em cólera, ele os aterra com o seu furor:
6 Yet I have set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.
6 Sou eu, diz, quem me sagrei um rei em Sião, minha montanha santa.
7 I will tell of the decree. LORD said to me, Thou are my son, this day I have begotten thee.
7 Vou publicar o decreto do Senhor. Disse-me o Senhor: Tu és meu filho, eu hoje te gerei.
8 Ask of me, and I will give [thee] the nations for thine inheritance, and the outermost parts of the earth for thy possession.
8 Pede-me; dar-te-ei por herança todas as nações; tu possuirás os confins do mundo.
9 Thou shall break them with a rod of iron, thou shall dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.
9 Tu as governarás com cetro de ferro, tu as pulverizarás como um vaso de argila.
10 Now therefore be wise, O ye kings. Be instructed, ye judges of the earth.
10 Agora, ó reis, compreendei isto; instruí-vos, ó juízes da terra.
11 Serve LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.
11 Servi ao Senhor com respeito e exultai em sua presença;
12 Kiss the son, lest he be angry, and ye perish in the way, for his wrath will soon be kindled. Blessed are all those who take refuge in him.
12 prestai-lhe homenagem com tremor, para que não se irrite e não pereçais quando, em breve, se acender sua cólera. Felizes, entretanto, todos os que nele confiam.
