1 And the sons of Israel come in, -- all the company -- to the wilderness of Zin, in the first month, and the people abide in Kadesh, and Miriam dieth there, and is buried there.
1 Toda a assembléia dos filhos de Israel chegou ao deserto de Sin no primeiro mês. O povo ficou em Cades; ali morreu Maria, que foi sepultada no mesmo lugar.
2 And there hath been no water for the company, and they are assembled against Moses, and against Aaron,
2 Como não houvesse água para a assembléia, o povo se ajuntou contra Moisés e Aarão,
3 and the people strive with Moses, and speak, saying, `And oh that we had expired when our brethren expired before Jehovah!
3 procurou disputar com Moisés e gritou: "Oxalá tivéssemos perecido com nossos irmãos diante do Senhor!
4 and why have ye brought in the assembly of Jehovah unto this wilderness to die there, we and our beasts?
4 Por que conduziste a assembléia do Senhor a este deserto, para nos deixares morrer aqui com os nossos rebanhos?
5 and why hast thou brought us up out of Egypt to bring us in unto this evil place? no place of seed, and fig, and vine, and pomegranate; and water there is none to drink.
5 Por que nos fizeste sair do Egito e nos trouxeste a este péssimo lugar, em que não se pode semear, e onde não há figueira, nem vinha, nem romãzeira, e tampouco há água para beber?"
6 And Moses and Aaron go in from the presence of the assembly unto the opening of the tent of meeting, and fall on their faces, and the honour of Jehovah is seen by them.
6 Moisés e Aarão deixaram a assembléia e dirigiram-se à entrada da tenda de reunião, onde se prostraram com a face por terra. Apareceu-lhes a glória do Senhor,
7 And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,
7 e o Senhor disse a Moisés:
8 `Take the rod, and assemble the company, thou and Aaron thy brother; and ye have spoken unto the rock before their eyes, and it hath given its water, and thou hast brought out to them water from the rock, and hast watered the company, and their beasts.`
8 "Toma a tua vara e convoca a assembléia, tu e teu irmão Aarão. Ordenareis ao rochedo, diante de todos, que dê as suas águas; farás brotar a água do rochedo e darás de beber à assembléia e aos seus rebanhos."
9 And Moses taketh the rod from before Jehovah, as He hath commanded him,
9 Tomou Moisés a vara que estava diante do Senhor, como ele lhe tinha ordenado.
10 and Moses and Aaron assemble the assembly unto the front of the rock, and he saith to them, `Hear, I pray you, O rebels, from this rock do we bring out to you water?`
10 Em seguida, tendo Moisés e Aarão convocado a assembléia diante do rochedo, disse-lhes Moisés: "Ouvi, rebeldes: acaso faremos nós brotar água deste rochedo?"
11 and Moses lifteth up his hand, and smiteth the rock with his rod twice; and much water cometh out, and the company drink, also their beasts.
11 Moisés levantou a mão e feriu o rochedo com a sua vara duas vezes; as águas jorraram em abundância, de sorte que beberam, o povo e os animais.
12 And Jehovah saith unto Moses, and unto Aaron, `Because ye have not believed in Me to sanctify Me before the eyes of the sons of Israel, therefore ye do not bring in this assembly unto the land which I have given to them.`
12 Em seguida, disse o Senhor a Moisés e Aarão: "Porque faltastes à confiança em mim para fazer brilhar a minha santidade aos olhos dos israelitas, não introduzireis esta assembléia na terra que lhe destino."
13 These [are] waters of Meribah, because the sons of Israel have `striven` with Jehovah, and He is sanctified upon them.
13 Estas são as águas de Meribá, onde os israelitas se queixaram do Senhor, e onde este fez resplandecer a sua santidade.
14 And Moses sendeth messengers from Kadesh unto the king of Edom, `Thus said thy brother Israel, Thou -- thou hast known all the travail which hath found us;
14 De Cades, Moisés enviou mensageiros ao rei de Edom: "Eis, disseram-lhe eles, as palavras que te dirige o teu irmão Israel: sabes todos os males que temos passado.
15 that our fathers go down to Egypt, and we dwell in Egypt many days, and the Egyptians do evil to us and to our fathers;
15 Nossos pais tinham descido ao Egito, onde habitamos durante muito tempo. Os egípcios, porém, nos maltrataram, a nós e a nossos pais.
16 and we cry unto Jehovah, and He heareth our voice, and sendeth a messenger, and is bringing us out of Egypt; and lo, we [are] in Kadesh, a city [in] the extremity of thy border.
16 Clamamos ao Senhor, ele nos ouviu, e mandou-nos um anjo que nos tirou do Egito. Eis-nos agora aqui em Cades, cidade situada nos confins de teu território.
17 Let us pass over, we pray thee, through thy land; we pass not over through a field, or through a vineyard, nor do we drink waters of a well; the way of the king we go, we turn not aside -- right or left -- till that we pass over thy border.`
17 Deixa-nos passar pela tua terra. Não atravessaremos os campos, nem as vinhas e não beberemos a água dos poços; mas seguiremos a estrada real sem nos desviarmos nem para a direita nem para a esquerda, até que tenhamos passado o teu território."
18 And Edom saith unto him, `Thou dost not pass over through me, lest with sword I come out to meet thee.`
18 Edom respondeu: "Tu não passarás pela minha terra; do contrário, sairei ao teu encontro com a espada na mão."
19 And the sons of Israel say unto him, `In the highway we go, and if of thy waters we drink -- I and my cattle -- then I have given their price; only (it is nothing) on my feet I pass over.`
19 Disseram-lhe os israelitas: "Tomaremos a estrada comum, e se bebermos de tua água, eu e os meus rebanhos, pagar-te-ei o preço. Não há perigo algum; só queremos passar."
20 And he saith, `Thou dost not pass over;` and Edom cometh out to meet him with much people, and with a strong hand;
20 Edom replicou: "Tu não passarás." E veio em massa ao encontro deles com as armas na mão.
21 and Edom refuseth to suffer Israel to pass over through his border, and Israel turneth aside from off him.
21 Recusando Edom a passagem através do seu território, Israel tomou outra direção.
22 And the sons of Israel, the whole company, journey from Kadesh, and come in unto mount Hor,
22 Partiram de Cades. Toda a assembléia dos israelitas chegou ao monte Hor.
23 and Jehovah speaketh unto Moses and unto Aaron in mount Hor, on the border of the land of Edom, saying,
23 Nesse lugar, que está nas fronteiras da terra de Edom, o Senhor disse a Moisés e a Aarão:
24 `Aaron is gathered unto his people, for he doth not go in unto the land which I have given to the sons of Israel, because that ye provoked My mouth at the waters of Meribah.
24 Aarão vai ser reunido aos seus, porque ele não entrará na terra que destino aos filhos de Israel, visto terdes sido rebeldes à minha ordem nas águas de Meribá.
25 `Take Aaron and Eleazar his son, and cause them to go up mount Hor,
25 Toma Aarão e seu filho Eleazar, e leva-os ao monte Hor.
26 and strip Aaron of his garments, and thou hast clothed [with] them Eleazar his son, and Aaron is gathered, and doth die there.`
26 Despojarás Aarão de suas vestes e revestirás com elas o seu filho Eleazar. Aarão será reunido aos seus, e aí morrerá."
27 And Moses doth as Jehovah hath commanded, and they go up unto mount Hor before the eyes of all the company,
27 Moisés fez como ordenou o Senhor: subiram o monte Hor à vista da assembléia.
28 and Moses strippeth Aaron of his garments, and clotheth with them Eleazar his son, and Aaron dieth there on the top of the mount; and Moses cometh down -- Eleazar also -- from the mount,
28 Despojando Aarão de suas vestes, Moisés revestiu com elas Eleazar, filho do sacerdote. Aarão morreu ali, no cimo do monte. Moisés e Eleazar desceram de novo,
29 and all the company see that Aaron hath expired, and they bewail Aaron thirty days -- all the house of Israel.
29 e toda a assembléia, ao saber da morte de Aarão, chorou-o durante trinta dias.
