1 Lo, I am sending My messenger, And he hath prepared a way before Me, And suddenly come in unto his temple Doth the Lord whom ye are seeking, Even the messenger of the covenant, Whom ye are desiring, Lo, he is coming, said Jehovah of Hosts.
1 “Vejam! Envio meu mensageiro, que preparará o caminho diante de mim. Então, de repente, o Senhor a quem vocês buscam virá a seu templo. O mensageiro da aliança, por quem vocês anseiam, certamente virá”, diz o S enhor dos Exércitos.
2 And who is bearing the day of his coming? And who is standing in his appearing? For he [is] as fire of a refiner, And as soap of a fuller.
2 “Mas quem poderá suportar quando ele vier? Quem permanecerá em pé em sua presença quando ele aparecer? Pois ele será como fogo ardente que refina o metal, como sabão forte que branqueia as roupas.
3 And he hath sat, a refiner and purifier of silver, And he hath purified the sons of Levi, And hath refined them as gold and as silver, And they have been to Jehovah bringing nigh a present in righteousness.
3 Ele se sentará como refinador de prata e queimará toda impureza. Purificará os levitas e os refinará como ouro e prata, para que voltem a oferecer sacrifícios aceitáveis ao S enhor .
4 And sweet to Jehovah hath been the present of Judah and Jerusalem, As in days of old, and as in former years.
4 Então o S enhor se agradará novamente das ofertas do povo de Judá e do povo de Jerusalém, como no passado.
5 And I have drawn near to you for judgment, And I have been a witness, Making haste against sorcerers, And against adulterers, And against swearers to a falsehood, And against oppressors of the hire of an hireling, Of a widow, and of a fatherless one, And those turning aside a sojourner, And who fear Me not, said Jehovah of Hosts.
5 “Naquele dia, eu julgarei vocês. Não demorarei para testemunhar contra todos os feiticeiros, adúlteros e mentirosos. Falarei contra aqueles que roubam o salário de seus empregados, que oprimem as viúvas e os órfãos, ou que privam os estrangeiros de seus direitos, pois essas pessoas não me temem”, diz o S enhor dos Exércitos.
6 For I [am] Jehovah, I have not changed, And ye, the sons of Jacob, Ye have not been consumed.
6 “Eu sou o S enhor e não mudo. Por isso vocês, descendentes de Jacó, ainda não foram destruídos.
7 Even from the days of your fathers Ye have turned aside from My statutes, And ye have not taken heed. Turn back unto Me, and I turn back to you, Said Jehovah of Hosts. And ye have said, `In what do we turn back?`
7 Desde os dias de seus antepassados vocês se afastaram de meus decretos e não os seguiram. Agora, voltem-se para mim, e eu me voltarei para vocês”, diz o S enhor dos Exércitos. “Mas vocês perguntam: ‘De que maneira voltaremos?’.
8 Doth man deceive God? but ye are deceiving Me, And ye have said: `In what have we deceived Thee?` The tithe and the heave-offering!
8 “Acaso alguém pode roubar a Deus? Mas vocês têm me roubado! “Perguntam: ‘Em que te roubamos?’. “Vocês me roubaram nos dízimos e nas ofertas.
9 With a curse ye are cursed! And Me ye are deceiving -- this nation -- all of it.
9 Estão sob maldição, pois a nação inteira tem me roubado.
10 Bring in all the tithe unto the treasure-house, And there is food in My house; When ye have tried Me, now, with this, Said Jehovah of Hosts, Do not I open to you the windows of heaven? Yea, I have emptied on you a blessing till there is no space.
10 Tragam todos os seus dízimos aos depósitos do templo, para que haja provisão em minha casa. Se o fizerem”, diz o S enhor dos Exércitos, “abrirei as janelas do céu para vocês. Derramarei tantas bênçãos que não haverá espaço para guardá-las! Sim, ponham-me à prova!
11 And I have pushed for you against the consumer, And He doth not destroy to you the fruit of the ground, Nor miscarry to you doth the vine in the field, Said Jehovah of Hosts.
11 Suas colheitas serão fartas, pois as protegerei das pragas. Suas uvas não cairão das videiras antes de amadurecerem”, diz o S enhor dos Exércitos.
12 And declared you happy have all the nations, For ye are a delightful land, said Jehovah of Hosts.
12 “Então todas as nações os chamarão de abençoados, pois sua terra será cheia de alegria”, diz o S enhor dos Exércitos.
13 Hard against Me have been your words, Said Jehovah, and ye have said: `What have we spoken against Thee?`
13 “Vocês falaram coisas terríveis contra mim”, diz o S enhor . “Mas vocês perguntam: ‘O que falamos contra ti?’.
14 Ye have said, `A vain thing to serve God! And what gain when we kept His charge? And when we have gone in black, Because of Jehovah of Hosts?
14 “Vocês disseram: ‘De que adianta servir a Deus? Que vantagem temos em obedecer a suas ordens ou chorar por nossos pecados diante do S enhor dos Exércitos?
15 And now, we are declaring the proud happy, Yea, built up have been those doing wickedness, Yea they have tempted God, and escape.`
15 De agora em diante, chamaremos de abençoados os arrogantes. Pois os que praticam maldades enriquecem, e os que provocam a ira de Deus nenhum mal sofrem’.”
16 Then have those fearing Jehovah spoken one to another, And Jehovah doth attend and hear, And written is a book of memorial before Him Of those fearing Jehovah, And of those esteeming His name.
16 Então aqueles que temiam o S enhor falaram uns com os outros, e o S enhor ouviu o que disseram. Na presença dele, foi escrito um livro memorial para registrar os nomes dos que o temiam e que sempre honravam seu nome.
17 And they have been to Me, said Jehovah of Hosts, In the day that I am appointing -- a peculiar treasure, And I have had pity on them, As one hath pity on his son who is serving him.
17 “Eles serão meu povo”, diz o S enhor dos Exércitos. “No dia em que eu agir, eles serão meu tesouro especial. Terei compaixão deles como o pai tem compaixão de seu filho obediente.
18 And ye have turned back and considered, Between the righteous and the wicked, Between the servant of God and him who is not His servant.
18 Então vocês verão outra vez a diferença entre o justo e o mau, entre o que serve a Deus e o que não serve.”
