1 And these [are] words of the letter that Jeremiah the prophet sent from Jerusalem unto the remnant of the elders of the removal, and unto the priests, and unto the prophets, and unto all the people -- whom Nebuchadnezzar removed from Jerusalem to Babylon,
1 Ora, estas são as palavras da carta que Jeremias, o profeta, enviou de Jerusalém para o restante dos anciãos que foram levados cativos, e para os sacerdotes, e para os profetas, e para todo o povo a quem Nabucodonosor tinha levado cativo de Jerusalém para Babilônia;
2 After the going forth of Jeconiah the king, and the mistress, and the officers, heads of Judah and Jerusalem, and the artificer, and the smith, from Jerusalem --
2 (depois que saíram de Jerusalém o rei Jeconias, e a rainha, e os eunucos, os príncipes de Judá e Jerusalém, e os carpinteiros, e os ferreiros),
3 By the hand of Eleasah son of Shaphan, and Gemariah son of Hilkijah, whom Zedekiah king of Judah sent unto Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon -- to Babylon, saying,
3 pela mão de Elasa, o filho de Safã, e Gemarias, o filho de Hilquias (a quem Zedequias, rei de Judá, enviou para Babilônia a Nabucodonosor, rei de Babilônia), dizendo:
4 `Thus said Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel, to all the removal that I removed from Jerusalem to Babylon,
4 Assim diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos, o Deus de Israel, para todos que foram levados cativos, que eu deportei de Jerusalém para Babilônia:
5 Build ye houses, and abide; and plant ye gardens, and eat their fruit;
5 Constrói casas, e habitai nelas, e plantai jardins, e comei o seu fruto.
6 Take ye wives, and beget sons and daughters; and take for your sons wives, and your daughters give to husbands, and they bear sons and daughters; and multiply there, and ye are not few;
6 Tomai vós esposas e gerai filhos e filhas, e tomai esposas para vossos filhos, e dai vossas filhas para maridos, para que possam dar à luz filhos e filhas, multiplicai-vos ali e não vos diminuais.
7 And seek the peace of the city whither I have removed you, and pray for it unto Jehovah, for in its peace ye have peace.
7 E buscai a paz da cidade, para onde eu vos fiz transportar em cativeiro, e orai ao SENHOR por ela, porque na sua paz, vós tereis paz.
8 `For thus said Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel, Let not your prophets who [are] in your midst, and your diviners, lift you up, nor hearken ye unto their dreams, thay ye are causing [them] to dream;
8 Porque assim diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos, o Deus de Israel: Não vos engane os vossos profetas, e vossos adivinhadores, que estão no meio de vós, nem escutai os vossos sonhos, os quais vós induzis para que sejam sonhados.
9 For with falsehood they are prophesying to you in My name; I have not sent them, an affirmation of Jehovah.
9 Porque eles vos profetizam falsamente em meu nome; eu não os enviei, diz o SENHOR.
10 `For thus said Jehovah, Surely at the fulness of Babylon -- seventy years -- I inspect you, and have established towards you My good word, to bring you back unto this place.
10 Porque assim diz o SENHOR: Após se completarem setenta anos em Babilônia, eu vos visitarei e cumprirei a minha boa palavra em vós, fazendo-vos retornar para este lugar.
11 For I have known the thoughts that I am thinking towards you -- an affirmation of Jehovah; thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give to you posterity and hope.
11 Porque eu sei os pensamentos que tenho sobre vós, diz o SENHOR, pensamentos de paz, e não de mal, para vos dar o fim que esperais.
12 `And ye have called Me, and have gone, and have prayed unto Me, and I have hearkened unto you,
12 Então me invocarei, e ireis, e orareis a mim, e eu vos escutarei.
13 And ye have sought Me, and have found, for ye seek Me with all your heart;
13 E vós buscar-me-eis, e me encontrareis, quando vós procurardes por mim com todo o vosso coração.
14 And I have been found of you -- an affirmation of Jehovah; and I have turned back [to] your captivity, and have gathered you out of all the nations, and out of all the places whither I have driven you -- an affirmation of Jehovah -- and I have brought you back unto the place whence I removed you.
14 E eu serei encontrado de vós, diz o SENHOR. E eu desviarei vosso cativeiro, e eu vos ajuntarei de todas as nações, e de todos os lugares para onde eu vos levei, diz o SENHOR. E eu vos trarei novamente ao lugar de onde eu vos levei cativo.
15 `Because ye have said, Jehovah hath raised up to us prophets in Babylon,
15 Porque vós dizeis: O SENHOR nos levantou profetas em Babilônia.
16 Surely thus said Jehovah concerning the king who is sitting on the throne of David, and concerning all the people that is dwelling in this city, your brethren who went not forth with you in the removal;
16 Sabei que assim diz o SENHOR, do rei que se assenta sobre o trono de Davi, e de todo o povo que habita nesta cidade, e de vossos irmãos que não saíram convosco ao cativeiro.
17 Thus said Jehovah of Hosts, Lo, I am sending among them the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, and I have given them up as figs that [are] vile, that are not eaten for badness.
17 Assim diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos: Eis que eu enviarei sobre eles a espada, a fome, e a peste, e os farei semelhantes a figos podres, que não podem ser comidos, de tão ruins que são.
18 And I have pursued after them with sword, with famine, and with pestilence, and have given them for a trembling to all kingdoms of the earth, for a curse and for an astonishment, and for a hissing, and for a reproach among all the nations whither I have driven them,
18 E eu os perseguirei com a espada, com a fome, e com a peste, e os entregarei para serem espalhados para todos os reinos da terra, para serem uma maldição, e um assombro, e um assobio, e uma desonra, no meio de todas as nações para onde eu os levei.
19 Because that they have not hearkened unto My words -- an affirmation of Jehovah -- that I sent unto them by My servants the prophets, rising early and sending, and ye hearkened not -- an affirmation of Jehovah.
19 Porque eles não escutaram as minhas palavras, diz o SENHOR, que eu enviei a eles por meus servos os profetas, madrugando, e enviando-os. Porém vós não escutastes, diz o SENHOR.
20 `And ye, hear ye a word of Jehovah, all ye of the captivity that I have sent from Jerusalem to Babylon,
20 Ouvi vós portanto a palavra do SENHOR, todos vós do cativeiro, a quem eu enviei de Jerusalém para Babilônia.
21 Thus said Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel, concerning Ahab son of Kolaiah, and concerning Zedekiah son of Maaseiah, who are prophesying to you in My name falsehood: Lo, I am giving them into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and he hath smitten them before your eyes,
21 Assim diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos, o Deus de Israel, de Acabe, o filho de Colaías, e de Zedequias, o filho de Maaseias, os quais vos profetizam mentiras em meu nome: Eis que eu os entregarei na mão de Nabucodonosor, rei de Babilônia, e ele os matará perante vossos olhos.
22 And taken from them hath been a reviling by all the removed of Judah that [are] in Babylon, saying, Jehovah doth set thee as Zedekiah, and as Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted with fire;
22 E deles será levantada uma maldição por todos os cativos de Judá que estão em Babilônia, dizendo: O SENHOR faça a ti como a Zedequias, e como a Acabe, os quais o rei de Babilônia assou no fogo.
23 Because that they have done folly in Israel, and commit adultery with the wives of their neighbours, and speak a word in My name falsely that I have not commanded them, and I [am] He who knoweth and a witness -- an affirmation of Jehovah.
23 Porque eles cometeram avareza em Israel, e cometeram adultério com as esposas de seus próximos, e falaram palavras mentirosas em meu nome, as quais não ordenei, e eu o sei, e sou uma testemunha, diz o SENHOR.
24 `And unto Shemaiah the Nehelamite thou dost speak, saying,
24 Deste modo tu também falarás a Semaías, o neelamita, dizendo:
25 Thus said Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel, saying, Because that thou hast sent in thy name letters unto all the people who [are] in Jerusalem, and unto Zephaniah son of Maaseiah the priest, and unto all the priests, saying,
25 Assim fala o SENHOR dos Exércitos, o Deus de Israel, dizendo: Porque tu tens enviado cartas em teu nome para todo o povo que está em Jerusalém, e para Sofonias, o filho de Maaseias, o sacerdote, e para todos os sacerdotes, dizendo:
26 Jehovah hath made thee priest instead of Jehoiada the priest, for there being inspectors of the house of Jehovah, for every one mad and making himself a prophet, and thou hast put him unto the torture and unto the stocks.
26 O SENHOR te fez sacerdote no lugar de Jeoiada, o sacerdote, para que sejais oficiais na casa do SENHOR, sobre cada homem que está louco, e fez a si mesmo um profeta, para o colocares na prisão e no tronco.
27 And now, why hast thou not pushed against Jeremiah of Anathoth, who is making himself a prophet to you?
27 Agora, portanto, por que não reprovaste a Jeremias de Anatote, o qual faz a si mesmo um profeta para vós?
28 Because that he hath sent unto us to Babylon, saying, It [is] long, build ye houses, and abide; and plant ye gardens, and eat their fruit.`
28 Por isso ele enviou a nós na Babilônia, dizendo: Este cativeiro é longo; constrói casas para vós, e habitai nelas, e plantai jardins, e comei do seu fruto.
29 And Zephaniah the priest readeth this letter in the ears of Jeremiah the prophet.
29 E Sofonias, o sacerdote, leu esta carta aos ouvidos de Jeremias o profeta.
30 And there is a word of Jehovah unto Jeremiah, saying,
30 Então veio a palavra do SENHOR a Jeremias, dizendo:
31 `Send unto all the removal, saying, Thus said Jehovah concerning Shemaiah the Nehelamite, Because that Shemaiah prophesied to you, and I -- I have not sent him, and he doth cause you to trust on falsehood,
31 Enviai a todos aqueles do cativeiro, dizendo: Assim diz o SENHOR a respeito de Semaías, o neelamita: Porquanto aquele Semaías profetizou para vós, e eu não o enviei, e ele vos fez confiar em uma mentira.
32 Therefore, thus said Jehovah, Lo, I am seeing after Shemaiah the Nehelamite, and after his seed, he hath none dwelling in the midst of this people, nor doth he look on the good that I am doing to My people -- an affirmation of Jehovah -- for apostacy he hath spoken against Jehovah.`
32 Portanto assim diz o SENHOR: Eis que eu punirei Semaías, o neelamita, e a sua semente. Ele não terá um homem para habitar no meio deste povo, nem irá ele ver o bem que eu farei ao meu povo, diz o SENHOR, porque ele ensinou a rebelião contra o SENHOR.
