1 And it cometh to pass in the days of Ahaz, son of Jotham, son of Uzziah, king of Judah, gone up hath Rezin king of Aram, and Pekah, son of Remaliah, king of Israel, to Jerusalem, to battle against it, and he is not able to fight against it.
1 No tempo em que Acaz, filho de Jotão e neto de Uzias, era rei de Judá, Rezim, rei da Síria, e Peca, filho de Remalias, rei de Israel, atacaram a cidade de Jerusalém, mas não puderam conquistá-la.
2 And it is declared to the house of David, saying, `Aram hath been led towards Ephraim,` And his heart and the heart of his people is moved, like the moving of trees of a forest by the presence of wind.
2 Quando o rei Acaz soube que os sírios haviam feito um acordo com os israelitas, ele e todo o seu povo ficaram com tanto medo, que tremiam como varas verdes.
3 And Jehovah saith unto Isaiah, `Go forth, I pray thee, to meet Ahaz, thou, and Shear-Jashub thy son, unto the end of the conduit of the upper pool, unto the highway of the fuller`s field,
3 O Senhor Deus disse a Isaías: — Vá com o seu filho Sear-Jasube encontrar-se com o rei Acaz. Ele estará na estrada onde os tintureiros trabalham, perto do canal que traz água do açude de cima.
4 and thou hast said unto him: `Take heed, and be quiet, fear not, And let not thy heart be timid, Because of these two tails of smoking brands, For the fierceness of the anger of Rezin and Aram, And the son of Remaliah.
4 Diga ao rei que fique alerta, mas que não perca a calma; que não tenha medo, nem fique desanimado por causa do ódio do rei Rezim, dos sírios e do rei Peca. Eles são menos perigosos do que dois tições soltando fumaça.
5 Because that Aram counselled against thee evil, Ephraim and the son of Remaliah, saying:
5 Os sírios, junto com o rei Peca e os israelitas, estão fazendo planos para prejudicar o rei Acaz. Eles combinaram o seguinte:
6 We go up into Judah, and we vex it, And we rend it unto ourselves, And we cause a king to reign in its midst -- The son of Tabeal.
6 “Vamos atacar o Reino de Judá, conquistar o seu povo e forçá-lo a aceitar o filho de Tabeal como rei.”
7 Thus said the Lord Jehovah: It doth not stand, nor shall it be!
7 — Porém eu, o Senhor , afirmo que isso não acontecerá. Pois a Síria não é mais forte do que Damasco, a sua capital, e Damasco não é mais forte do que o rei Rezim. A terra de Israel não é mais forte do que Samaria, a sua capital, e Samaria não é mais forte do que o rei Peca. Mas daqui a sessenta e cinco anos Israel será destruído e deixará de existir como nação. — Se vocês não tiverem uma fé firme, não poderão ficar firmes.
8 For the head of Aram [is] Damascus, And the head of Damascus [is] Rezin, And within sixty and five years Is Ephraim broken from [being] a people.
8 — ausente —
9 And the head of Ephraim [is] Samaria, And the head of Samaria [is] the son of Remaliah. If ye do not give credence, Surely ye are not stedfast.`
9 — ausente —
10 And Jehovah addeth to speak unto Ahaz, saying:
10 O Senhor Deus enviou ao rei Acaz esta outra mensagem:
11 `Ask for thee a sign from Jehovah thy God, Make deep the request, or make [it] high upwards.`
11 — Peça ao Senhor , seu Deus, que lhe dê um sinal. Esse sinal poderá vir das profundezas do mundo dos mortos ou das alturas do céu.
12 And Ahaz saith, `I do not ask nor try Jehovah.`
12 Mas Acaz respondeu: — Não vou pedir sinal nenhum. Não vou pôr o
13 And he saith, `Hear, I pray you, O house of David, Is it a little thing for you to weary men, That ye weary also my God?
13 Então Isaías disse: — Escutem, descendentes do rei Davi! Será que não basta vocês abusarem da paciência das pessoas? Precisam abusar também da paciência do meu Deus?
14 Therefore the Lord Himself giveth to you a sign, Lo, the Virgin is conceiving, And is bringing forth a son, And hath called his name Immanuel,
14 Pois o Senhor mesmo lhes dará um sinal: a jovem que está grávida dará à luz um filho e porá nele o nome de Emanuel .
15 Butter and honey he doth eat, When he knoweth to refuse evil, and to fix on good.
15 Quando ele chegar à idade de saber escolher o bem e rejeitar o mal, o povo estará comendo coalhada e mel .
16 For before the youth doth know To refuse evil, and to fix on good, Forsaken is the land thou art vexed with, because of her two kings.
16 Mas, mesmo antes desse tempo, ó rei Acaz, as terras daqueles dois reis que lhe causaram tanto medo ficarão completamente abandonadas.
17 Jehovah bringeth on thee, and on thy people, And on the house of thy father, Days that have not come, Even from the day of the turning aside of Ephraim from Judah, By the king of Asshur.
17 — O Senhor Deus vai trazer sofrimento para o senhor, ó rei, para as pessoas da sua família e para o seu povo. Ele fará isso por meio do rei da Assíria, e o sofrimento que esse rei vai causar será o pior que já houve desde que o Reino de Israel se separou do Reino de Judá.
18 And it hath come to pass, in that day, Jehovah doth hiss for a fly that [is] in the extremity of the brooks of Egypt, And for a bee that [is] in the land of Asshur.
18 Quando chegar aquele dia, o Senhor Deus vai assobiar e chamar os egípcios para que venham, como se fossem moscas, dos lugares mais distantes do rio Nilo. E assobiará também para que os assírios, como um enxame de abelhas, venham da sua terra.
19 And they have come, and rested all of them in the desolate valleys, And in holes of the rocks, and on all the thorns, And on all the commendable things.
19 Eles virão e, como enxames, pousarão nos vales mais profundos, nas fendas das rochas, e em todos os espinheiros e em todos os lugares onde o gado bebe água.
20 In that day doth the Lord shave, By a razor that is hired beyond the river, By the king of Asshur, The head, and the hair of the feet, Yea, also the beard it consumeth.
20 — Naquele dia, o Senhor vai contratar um barbeiro que vive na região que fica no outro lado do rio Eufrates, isto é, o rei da Assíria. Ele virá e rapará a barba, os cabelos e os pelos do corpo de todos .
21 And it hath come to pass, in that day, A man keepeth alive a heifer of the herd, And two of the flock,
21 — Naquele dia, quem ficar com uma vaca nova e duas cabras
22 And it hath come to pass, From the abundance of the yielding of milk he eateth butter, For butter and honey doth every one eat Who is left in the heart of the land.
22 terá tanto leite, que poderá comer coalhada. E todos os que ficarem com vida no país comerão coalhada e mel.
23 And it hath come to pass, in that day, Every place where there are a thousand vines, At a thousand silverlings, Is for briers and for thorns.
23 — Naquele dia, o que antes era uma plantação com mil pés de uva, valendo mil barras de prata, virará um terreno cheio de mato e de espinheiros.
24 With arrows and with bow he cometh thither, Because all the land is brier and thorn.
24 O país todo ficará coberto de espinheiros, e os homens irão ali caçar com arco e flechas.
25 And all the hills that with a mattock are kept in order, Thither cometh not the fear of brier and thorn, And it hath been for the sending forth of ox, And for the treading of sheep!`
25 E todos os montes, onde antes havia plantações, ficarão tão cobertos de mato e de espinheiros, que ninguém terá a coragem de ir até lá. Somente o gado e as ovelhas irão lá para pastar.
