1 And God saith unto Jacob, `Rise, go up to Bethel, and dwell there, and make there an altar to God, who appeared unto thee in thy fleeing from the face of Esau thy brother.`
1 Deus disse a Jacó: — Apronte-se, vá para Betel e fique morando lá. Em Betel construa um altar e o dedique a mim, o Deus que lhe apareceu quando você estava fugindo do seu irmão Esaú.
2 And Jacob saith unto his household, and unto all who [are] with him, `Turn aside the gods of the stranger which [are] in your midst, and cleanse yourselves, and change your garments;
2 Então Jacó disse à sua família e a todos os que estavam com ele: — Joguem fora todas as imagens dos deuses estrangeiros que vocês têm.
3 and we rise, and go up to Bethel, and I make there an altar to God, who is answering me in the day of my distress, and is with me in the way that I have gone.`
3 Aprontem-se, que nós vamos para Betel. Ali vou fazer um altar dedicado ao Deus que me ajudou no tempo da minha aflição e que tem estado comigo em todos os lugares por onde tenho andado.
4 And they give unto Jacob all the gods of the stranger that [are] in their hand, and the rings that [are] in their ears, and Jacob hideth them under the oak which [is] by Shechem;
4 Eles entregaram as imagens dos deuses estrangeiros que tinham e os brincos que usavam nas orelhas. E Jacó enterrou tudo debaixo da árvore sagrada que fica perto de Siquém.
5 and they journey, and the terror of God is on the cities which [are] round about them, and they have not pursued after the sons of Jacob.
5 Quando eles foram embora, Deus fez com que os moradores das cidades vizinhas ficassem com um medo terrível, e por isso eles não perseguiram Jacó.
6 And Jacob cometh in to Luz which [is] in the land of Canaan (it [is] Bethel), he and all the people who [are] with him,
6 Assim, Jacó e toda a sua gente chegaram a Luz, cidade que também é conhecida pelo nome de Betel e que fica na terra de Canaã.
7 and he buildeth there an altar, and proclaimeth at the place the God of Bethel: for there had God been revealed unto him, in his fleeing from the face of his brother.
7 Ali ele construiu um altar e pôs naquele lugar o nome de “O Deus de Betel” porque ali Deus havia aparecido a ele, quando estava fugindo do seu irmão.
8 And Deborah, Rebekah`s nurse, dieth, and she is buried at the lower part of Bethel, under the oak, and he calleth its name `Oak of weeping.`
8 Naquele lugar morreu Débora, a mulher que havia sido babá de Rebeca. Ela foi sepultada debaixo da árvore sagrada que fica ao sul de Betel. E puseram naquele lugar o nome de “Árvore Sagrada das Lágrimas”.
9 And God appeareth unto Jacob again, in his coming from Padan-Aram, and blesseth him;
9 Quando Jacó voltou da Mesopotâmia, Deus lhe apareceu outra vez e o abençoou,
10 and God saith to him, `Thy name [is] Jacob: thy name is no more called Jacob, but Israel is thy name;` and He calleth his name Israel.
10 dizendo: “Você se chama Jacó, porém esse não será mais o seu nome; agora o seu nome será Israel.” Assim, Deus pôs nele o nome de Israel.
11 And God saith to him, `I [am] God Almighty; be fruitful and multiply, a nation and an assembly of nations is from thee, and kings from thy loins go out;
11 E disse também: “Eu sou o Deus Todo-Poderoso. Tenha muitos filhos e muitos descendentes. Uma nação e muitos povos sairão de você, e entre os seus descendentes haverá reis.
12 and the land which I have given to Abraham and to Isaac -- to thee I give it, yea to thy seed after thee I give the land.`
12 A terra que dei a Abraão e a Isaque darei também a você e depois a darei aos seus descendentes.”
13 And God goeth up from him, in the place where He hath spoken with him.
13 Quando acabou de falar com Jacó, Deus subiu e foi embora daquele lugar.
14 And Jacob setteth up a standing pillar in the place where He hath spoken with him, a standing pillar of stone, and he poureth on it an oblation, and he poureth on it oil;
14 Então Jacó pegou uma pedra e a colocou como pilar no lugar onde Deus havia falado com ele. Ele a separou para Deus, derramando vinho e azeite em cima.
15 and Jacob calleth the name of the place where God spake with him Bethel.
15 E pôs naquele lugar o nome de Betel.
16 And they journey from Bethel, and there is yet a kibrath of land before entering Ephratha, and Rachel beareth, and is sharply pained in her bearing;
16 Jacó e a sua família saíram de Betel; e, quando estavam chegando perto de Efrata, Raquel começou a sentir dores de parto. E o parto foi difícil.
17 and it cometh to pass, in her being sharply pained in her bearing, that the midwife saith to her, `Fear not, for this also [is] a son for thee.`
17 Quando as dores estavam no ponto mais forte, a parteira disse: — Não tenha medo; você vai ter outro filho homem.
18 And it cometh to pass in the going out of her soul (for she died), that she calleth his name Ben-Oni; and his father called him Benjamin;
18 Porém ela estava morrendo. E, antes de dar o último suspiro, chamou o menino de Benoni . Mas o pai pôs nele o nome de Benjamim .
19 and Rachel dieth, and is buried in the way to Ephratha, which [is] Bethlehem,
19 Assim, Raquel morreu e foi sepultada na beira do caminho de Efrata, que agora se chama Belém.
20 and Jacob setteth up a standing pillar over her grave; which [is] the standing pillar of Rachel`s grave unto this day.
20 Jacó pôs sobre a sepultura uma pedra como pilar, e ela marca o lugar da sepultura até hoje .
21 And Israel journeyeth, and stretcheth out his tent beyond the tower of Edar;
21 Depois Jacó saiu dali e armou o seu acampamento do outro lado da torre de Éder.
22 and it cometh to pass in Israel`s dwelling in that land, that Reuben goeth, and lieth with Bilhah his father`s concubine; and Israel heareth.
22 Um dia, quando Jacó estava morando naquele lugar, o seu filho Rúben teve relações com Bila, que era concubina de Jacó. Quando ele soube disso, ficou furioso. Os filhos de Jacó eram doze.
23 And the sons of Jacob are twelve. Sons of Leah: Jacob`s first-born Reuben, and Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Zebulun.
23 Os que teve com Leia foram Rúben (o filho mais velho de Jacó), Simeão, Levi, Judá, Issacar e Zebulom.
24 Sons of Rachel: Joseph and Benjamin.
24 Com Raquel ele teve José e Benjamim.
25 And sons of Bilhah, Rachel`s maid-servant: Dan and Naphtali.
25 Com Bila, a escrava de Raquel, ele teve Dã e Naftali.
26 And sons of Zilpah, Leah`s maid-servant: Gad and Asher. These [are] sons of Jacob, who have been born to him in Padan-Aram.
26 Com Zilpa, a escrava de Leia, ele teve Gade e Aser. Esses filhos de Jacó nasceram na Mesopotâmia.
27 And Jacob cometh unto Isaac his father, at Mamre, the city of Arba (which [is] Hebron), where Abraham and Isaac have sojourned.
27 Jacó foi morar com Isaque, o seu pai, em Manre, a cidade que também se chama Arba e que fica perto de Hebrom, onde Abraão e Isaque haviam morado.
28 And the days of Isaac are a hundred and eighty years,
28 Aos cento e oitenta anos de idade,
29 and Isaac expireth, and dieth, and is gathered unto his people, aged and satisfied with days; and bury him do Esau and Jacob his sons.
29 quando já era muito velho, Isaque morreu, indo reunir-se assim com os seus antepassados no mundo dos mortos . E os seus filhos Esaú e Jacó o sepultaram.
