1 `When Jehovah thy God doth bring thee in unto the land whither thou art going in to possess it, and He hath cast out many nations from thy presence, the Hittite, and the Girgashite, and the Amorite, and the Canaanite, and the Perizzite, and the Hivite, and the Jebusite, seven nations more numerous and mighty than thou,
1 Quando o Senhor, teu Deus, te tiver introduzido na terra que vais possuir, e tiver despojado em teu favor muitas nações, os heteus, os gergeseus, os amorreus, os cananeus, os ferezeus, os heveus e os jebuseus, sete nações maiores e mais poderosas do que tu;
2 and Jehovah thy God hath given them before thee, and thou hast smitten them -- thou dost utterly devote them -- thou dost not make with them a covenant, nor dost thou favour them.
2 quando o Senhor, teu Deus, as tiver entregado e tu as tiveres vencido, então as votarás ao interdito; não farás pacto algum com elas, nem as tratarás com misericórdia.
3 `And thou dost not join in marriage with them; thy daughter thou dost not give to his son, and his daughter thou dost not take to thy son,
3 Não contrairás com elas matrimônios: não darás tua filha a seus filhos, e não tomarás de suas filhas para teu filho,
4 for he doth turn aside thy son from after Me, and they have served other gods, and the anger of Jehovah hath burned against you, and hath destroyed thee hastily.
4 pois elas afastariam do Senhor o teu filho, que serviria a outros deuses; a cólera do Senhor se inflamaria contra ele e não tardaria a exterminar-vos.
5 `But thus thou dost to them: their altars ye break down, and their standing pillars ye shiver, and their shrines ye cut down, and their graven images ye burn with fire;
5 Mas eis como procedereis a seu respeito: destruireis seus altares, quebrareis suas estelas, cortareis suas asserás de madeira e queimareis suas imagens de escultura,
6 for a holy people [art] thou to Jehovah thy God; on thee hath Jehovah thy God fixed, to be to Him for a peculiar people, out of all the peoples who [are] on the face of the ground.
6 porque és um povo consagrado ao Senhor, teu Deus, o qual te escolheu para seres o seu povo, sua propriedade exclusiva, entre todas as outras nações da terra.
7 `Not because of your being more numerous than any of the peoples hath Jehovah delighted in you, and fixeth on you, for ye [are] the least of all the peoples,
7 Não é porque sois mais numerosos que todos os outros povos que o Senhor se uniu a vós e vos escolheu; ao contrário, sois o menor de todos.
8 but because of Jehovah`s loving you, and because of His keeping the oath which He hath sworn to your fathers, hath Jehovah brought you out by a strong hand, and doth ransom you from a house of servants, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.
8 Mas o Senhor ama-vos e quer guardar o juramento que fez a vossos pais. Por isso a sua mão poderosa tirou-vos da casa da servidão, e livrou-vos do poder do faraó, rei do Egito.
9 `And thou hast known that Jehovah thy God He [is] God, the faithful God, keeping the covenant, and the kindness, to those loving Him, and to those keeping His commands -- to a thousand generations,
9 Reconhece, pois, que o Senhor, teu Deus, é verdadeiramente Deus, um Deus fiel, que guarda a sua aliança e a sua misericórdia até a milésima geração para com aqueles que o amam e observam os seus mandamentos,
10 and repaying to those hating Him, unto their face, to destroy them; He delayeth not to him who is hating Him -- unto his face, He repayeth to him --
10 mas castiga diretamente aqueles que o odeiam, exterminando-os, e infligindo sem demora o castigo direto àquele que o odeia.
11 and thou hast kept the command, and the statutes, and the judgments, which I am commanding thee to-day to do them.
11 Observai, pois, as ordenações, as leis e os preceitos que vos prescrevo hoje, e praticai-os.
12 `And it hath been, because ye hear these judgments, and have kept, and done them, that Jehovah thy God hath kept to thee the covenant and the kindness which He hath sworn to thy fathers,
12 Se ouvirdes esses preceitos e os praticardes fielmente, o Senhor, teu Deus, guardará para contigo a aliança de misericórdia que jurou a teus pais,
13 and hath loved thee, and blessed thee, and multiplied thee, and hath blessed the fruit of thy womb, and the fruit of thy ground, thy corn, and thy new wine, and thine oil, the increase of thine oxen, and the wealth of thy flock, on the ground which He hath sworn to thy fathers to give to thee.
13 amando-te, abençoando-te e multiplicando-te: abençoará o fruto de teu ventre e o fruto do teu solo, teu trigo, teu vinho e teu óleo, as crias de tuas vacas e de tuas ovelhas, na terra que jurou a teus pais dar-te.
14 `Blessed art thou above all the peoples, there is not in thee a barren man or a barren woman -- nor among your cattle;
14 Serás bendito mais que todos os povos. Não haverá no meio de ti quem seja estéril, macho ou fêmea, tanto entre os homens como entre os animais.
15 and Jehovah hath turned aside from thee every sickness, and none of the evil diseases of Egypt (which thou hast known) doth He put on thee, and He hath put them on all hating thee.
15 O Senhor apartará de ti toda a enfermidade; e não permitirá que te toque nenhuma daquelas funestas epidemias do Egito, que conheceste, mas ferirá com elas todos os que te odeiam.
16 `And thou hast consumed all the peoples whom Jehovah thy God is giving to thee; thine eye hath no pity on them, and thou dost not serve their gods, for a snare it [is] to thee.
16 Devorarás todos os povos que o Senhor, teu Deus, te entregar; os teus olhos não terão piedade deles. Não servirás os seus deuses, porque isso te seria um laço.
17 `When thou sayest in thine heart, These nations [are] more numerous than I, how am I able to dispossess them? --
17 Se disseres no teu coração: estes povos são mais numerosos do que eu; como poderia eu despojá-los?
18 thou art not afraid of them; thou dost surely remember that which Jehovah thy God hath done to Pharaoh, and to all Egypt,
18 Não os temas; lembra-te do que fez o Senhor, teu Deus, ao faraó e a todos os egípcios,
19 the great trials which thine eyes have seen, and the signs, and the wonders, and the strong hand, and the stretched-out arm, with which Jehovah thy God hath brought thee out; so doth Jehovah thy God to all the peoples of whose presence thou art afraid.
19 das grandes provas que os teus olhos viram, dos sinais e dos prodígios que o Senhor fez quando te tirou do Egito com sua mão forte e seu braço poderoso. O mesmo fará ele a todos os povos que temes.
20 `And also the locust doth Jehovah thy God send among them, till the destruction of those who are left, and of those who are hidden from thy presence;
20 O Senhor, teu Deus, enviará mesmo vespas contra eles, até destruir e exterminar todos os que tiverem escapado e se houverem ocultado de tua presença.
21 thou art not terrified by their presence, for Jehovah thy God [is] in thy midst, a God great and fearful.
21 Não te assustes por causa deles, porque tens o Senhor, teu Deus, no meio de ti, um Deus grande e temível.
22 `And Jehovah thy God hath cast out these nations from thy presence little [by] little, (thou art not able to consume them hastily, lest the beast of the field multiply against thee),
22 Ele expulsará pouco a pouco essas nações diante de ti; tu não as destruirás de uma só vez, para que não se multipliquem as feras ao redor de ti.
23 and Jehovah thy God hath given them before thee, and destroyed them -- a great destruction -- till their destruction;
23 O Senhor, teu Deus, as entregará a ti e semeará o pânico no meio delas até que todas sejam exterminadas.
24 and He hath given their kings into thy hand, and thou hast destroyed their name from under the heavens; no man doth station himself in thy presence till thou hast destroyed them.
24 Entregará os seus reis nas tuas mãos, e tu apagarás os seus nomes de debaixo dos céus. Ninguém te poderá resistir, até que os tenhas derrotado.
25 `The graven images of their gods ye do burn with fire; thou dost not desire the silver and gold on them, nor hast thou taken [it] to thyself, lest thou be snared by it, for the abomination of Jehovah thy God it [is];
25 Queimareis as imagens esculpidas de seus deuses, mas não cobiçareis a prata nem o ouro de que são revestidas, nem delas tomareis nada, para que isso não te seja um laço, pois são uma abominação para o Senhor.
26 and thou dost not bring in an abomination unto thy house -- or thou hast been devoted like it; -- thou dost utterly detest it, and thou dost utterly abominate it; for it [is] devoted.
26 Não introduzirás em tua casa coisa alguma abominável, porque serias, como ela, votado ao interdito. Tê-la-ás em extremo horror e grande abominação, porque é votada ao interdito.
