1 `Nebuchadnezzar the king to all peoples, nations, and languages, who are dwelling in all the earth: Your peace be great!
1 O rei Nabucodonosor para todo povo, nações e línguas que habitam em toda a terra: Paz vos seja multiplicada.
2 The signs and wonders that God Most High hath done with me, it is good before me to shew.
2 Eu achei por bem mostrar os sinais e maravilhas que o altíssimo Deus tem feito para comigo.
3 His signs how great! and His wonders how mighty! His kingdom [is] a kingdom age-during, and His rule [is] with generation and generation.
3 Quão grandes são os seus sinais! E quão poderosas são as suas maravilhas! O seu reino é um reino eterno, e o seu domínio é de geração a geração.
4 `I, Nebuchadnezzar, have been at rest in my house, and flourishing in my palace:
4 Eu, Nabucodonosor, estava em repouso em minha casa, e prosperando em meu palácio.
5 a dream I have seen, and it maketh me afraid, and the conceptions on my bed, and the visions of my head, do trouble me.
5 Eu tive um sonho que me atemorizou, e os pensamentos sobre minha cama e as visões da minha cabeça me atribularam.
6 And by me a decree is made, to cause all the wise men of Babylon to come up before me, that the interpretation of the dream they may cause me to know.
6 Portanto, decretei que trouxessem diante de mim todos os homens sábios de Babilônia, para que me fizessem conhecer a interpretação do sonho.
7 Then coming up are the scribes, the enchanters, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers, and the dream I have told before them, and its interpretation they are not making known to me.
7 Então vieram os magos, os astrólogos, os caldeus e os adivinhos; e contei o sonho diante deles. Porém eles não me fizeram conhecer a sua interpretação.
8 And at last come up before me hath Daniel, whose name [is] Belteshazzar -- according to the name of my god -- and in whom [is] the spirit of the holy gods, and the dream before him I have told:
8 Porém, por fim, Daniel, cujo nome era Beltessazar, entrou diante de mim, de acordo com o nome do meu deus, e em quem está o espírito dos deuses santos; e perante ele eu contei o sonho, dizendo:
9 `O Belteshazzar, master of the scribes, as I have known that the spirit of the holy gods [is] in thee, and no secret doth press thee, the visions of my dream that I have seen, and its interpretation, tell.
9 Ó Beltessazar, mestre dos magos, porque eu sei que o espírito dos deuses santos está em ti, e nenhum segredo te atribula, conte-me as visões do sonho que eu tive e a sua interpretação.
10 As to the visions of my head on my bed, I was looking, and lo, a tree in the midst of the earth, and its height [is] great:
10 Assim foram as visões da minha cabeça em minha cama: eu olhei e observei uma árvore no meio da terra, e a sua altura era grande.
11 become great hath the tree, yea, strong, and its height doth reach to the heavens, and its vision to the end of the whole land;
11 A árvore cresceu e ficou forte, e a sua altura alcançou o céu, e podia ser vista até nos confins de toda a terra;
12 its leaves [are] fair, and its budding great, and food for all [is] in it: under it take shade doth the beast of the field, and in its boughs dwell do the birds of the heavens, and of it fed are all flesh.
12 as suas folhas eram belas, e o seu fruto abundante, e nela havia alimento para todos; os animais do campo tinham sombra sob ela, e as aves do céu habitavam nos seus galhos; e toda a carne alimentava-se dela.
13 `I was looking, in the visions of my head on my bed, and lo, a sifter, even a holy one, from the heavens is coming down.
13 Eu vi nas visões da minha cabeça sobre a minha cama, e eis que um vigia e um santo desceram do céu;
14 He is calling mightily, and thus hath said, Cut down the tree, and cut off its branches, shake off its leaves, and scatter its budding, move away let the beast from under it, and the birds from off its branches;
14 ele clamou alto, e disse: Ponde a árvore abaixo e cortai os seus ramos, sacudi as suas folhas e espalhai o seu fruto; fujam os animais de debaixo dela, e as aves dos seus ramos;
15 but the stump of its roots leave in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field, and with the dew of the heavens is it wet, and with the beasts [is] his portion in the herb of the earth;
15 porém deixai o toco das suas raízes na terra, e até com um grilhão de ferro e bronze na tenra grama do campo; e se umedeça com o orvalho do céu, e esteja a sua porção com os animais na grama da terra;
16 his heart from man`s is changed, and the heart of a beast is given to him, and seven times pass over him;
16 mude-se o seu coração de homem, seja-lhe dado o coração de um animal, e sete tempos passem sobre ele.
17 by the decree of the sifters [is] the sentence, and by the saying of the holy ones the requirement, to the intent that the living may know that the Most High is ruler in the kingdom of men, and to whom He willeth He giveth it, and the lowest of men He doth raise up over it.
17 Este assunto é pelo decreto dos vigias, e ordem pela palavra dos santos, para o propósito de que os viventes possam saber que o Altíssimo governa no reino dos homens, e o dá a quem ele escolher, e estabelece sobre ele o mais simples dos homens.
18 `This dream I have seen, I king Nebuchadnezzar; and thou, O Belteshazzar, the interpretation tell, because that all the wise men of my kingdom are not able to cause me to know the interpretation, and thou [art] able, for the spirit of the holy gods [is] in thee.
18 Este sonho eu, rei Nabucodonosor vi. Agora tu, ó Beltessazar, declare a tua interpretação, porquanto nenhum de todos os homens sábios do meu reino é capaz de me fazer conhecer a sua interpretação; mas tu és capaz, pois o espírito dos deuses santos está em ti.
19 `Then Daniel, whose name [is] Belteshazzar, hath been astonished about one hour, and his thoughts do trouble him; the king hath answered and said, O Belteshazzar, let not the dream and its interpretation trouble thee. Belteshazzar hath answered and said, My lord, the dream -- to those hating thee, and its interpretation -- to thine enemies!
19 Então Daniel, cujo nome era Beltessazar, ficou espantado por uma hora, e os seus pensamentos o atribularam. O rei falou, e disse: Beltessazar, não deixa o sonho, nem a sua interpretação atribularem-te. Beltessazar respondeu e disse: Meu senhor, o sonho seja para aqueles que te odeiam, e a sua interpretação para os teus inimigos.
20 The tree that thou hast seen, that hath become great and strong, and its height doth reach to the heavens, and its vision to all the land,
20 A árvore que tu viste, que cresceu e se fortaleceu, cuja altura alcançou o céu e cuja visão dava para toda a terra;
21 and its leaves [are] fair, and its budding great, and food for all [is] in it, under it dwell doth the beast of the field, and on its boughs sit do the birds of the heavens.
21 cujas folhas eram belas, e o seu fruto abundante, e nela alimento para todos, sob a qual os animais do campo habitavam e sobre cujos ramos as aves do céu tinham a sua habitação;
22 `Thou it [is], O king, for thou hast become great and mighty, and thy greatness hath become great, and hath reached to the heavens, and thy dominion to the end of the earth;
22 és tu, ó rei, que cresceste e te tornaste forte; pois a tua grandeza cresceu e alcançou o céu, e o teu domínio até os confins da terra.
23 and that which the king hath seen -- a sifter, even a holy one, coming down from the heavens, and he hath said, Cut down the tree, and destroy it; but the stump of its roots leave in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field, and with the dew of the heavens it is wet, and with the beast of the field [is] his portion, till that seven times pass over him.
23 E quanto à visão do rei de um vigia e um santo descendo do céu e dizendo: Ponde a árvore abaixo e destruí-a, porém deixa o toco de suas raízes na terra com um grilhão de ferro e bronze na tenra grama do campo, e se umedeça com o orvalho do céu, e esteja a sua porção com os animais do campo, até sete tempos passarem sobre ele;
24 `This [is] the interpretation, O king, and the decree of the Most High it [is] that hath come against my lord the king:
24 esta é a interpretação, ó rei, e este é o decreto do Altíssimo, o qual veio sobre meu senhor, o rei;
25 and they are driving thee away from men, and with the beast of the field is thy dwelling, and the herb as oxen they do cause thee to eat, and by the dew of the heavens they are wetting thee, and seven times do pass over thee, till that thou knowest that the Most High is ruler in the kingdom of men, and to whom He willeth He giveth it.
25 que tu serás tirado de entre os homens, e tua habitação será com os animais do campo, e eles te farão comer grama como bois, e eles te molharão com o orvalho do céu, e sete tempos passarão sobre ti, até que tu saibas que o Altíssimo governa no reino dos homens e o dá a quem ele quer.
26 And that which they said -- to leave the stump of the roots of the tree; thy kingdom for thee abideth, after that thou knowest that the heavens are ruling.
26 E porquanto eles deram ordem para deixar o toco das raízes da árvore; teu reino estará certo para ti, depois de saberes que os céus governam.
27 `Therefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable unto thee, and thy sins by righteousness break off, and thy perversity by pitying the poor, lo, it is a lengthening of thine ease.
27 Portanto, ó rei, seja meu conselho aceitável a ti, e interrompe os teus pecados pela justiça e tuas iniquidades mostrando misericórdia ao pobre, se isto pode ser um alongamento de tua tranquilidade.
28 `All -- hath come on Nebuchadnezzar the king.
28 Tudo veio sobre o rei Nabucodonosor.
29 `At the end of twelve months, on the palace of the kingdom of Babylon he hath been walking;
29 Ao final de doze meses, passeando no palácio do reino de Babilônia,
30 the king hath answered and said, Is not this that great Babylon that I have built, for the house of the kingdom, in the might of my strength, and for the glory of mine honour?
30 o rei falou, e disse: Não é esta a grande Babilônia, que eu construí para ser a casa do reino pela força do meu poder, e para a honra da minha majestade?
31 `While the word is [in] the king`s mouth a voice from the heavens hath fallen: To thee they are saying: O Nebuchadnezzar the king, the kingdom hath passed from thee,
31 Enquanto a palavra estava na boca do rei, caiu uma voz do céu, dizendo: Ó rei Nabucodonosor, a ti se fala: O reino apartou-se de ti.
32 and from men they are driving thee away, and with the beast of the field [is] thy dwelling, the herb as oxen they do cause thee to eat, and seven times do pass over thee, till that thou knowest that the Most High is ruler in the kingdom of men, and to whom He willeth He giveth it.
32 E eles irão tirar-te de dentre os homens, e tua habitação será com os animais do campo. Eles te farão comer grama como bois, e sete tempos passarão sobre ti, até que tu saibas que o Altíssimo governa no reino dos homens, e o dá a quem ele quer.
33 `In that hour the thing hath been fulfilled on Nebuchadnezzar, and from men he is driven, and the herb as oxen he eateth, and by the dew of the heavens his body is wet, till that his hair as eagles` hath become great, and his nails as birds.`
33 Na mesma hora a coisa cumpriu-se sobre Nabucodonosor, e ele foi levado dentre os homens, e comeu grama como bois, e o seu corpo foi molhado pelo orvalho do céu até os seus cabelos crescerem como penas de águias e as suas unhas como garras de pássaros.
34 `And at the end of the days I, Nebuchadnezzar, mine eyes to the heavens have lifted up, and mine understanding unto me returneth, and the Most High I have blessed, and the Age-during Living One I have praised and honoured, whose dominion [is] a dominion age-during, and His kingdom with generation and generation;
34 E ao final dos dias eu, Nabucodonosor, ergui os meus olhos para o céu, e o meu entendimento retornou para mim, e eu bendisse o Altíssimo, e louvei e honrei aquele que vive para sempre, cujo domínio é um domínio eterno, e o seu reino de geração a geração;
35 and all who are dwelling on the earth as nothing are reckoned, and according to his will He is doing among the forces of the heavens and those dwelling on the earth, and there is none that doth clap with his hand, and saith to Him, What hast Thou done?
35 e todos os habitantes da terra são considerados como nada, e ele faz conforme a sua vontade no exército do céu, e entre os habitantes da terra, e ninguém pode paralisar a sua mão ou dizer-lhe: O que fazes tu?
36 `At that time my understanding doth return unto me, and for the glory of my kingdom, my honour and my brightness doth return unto me, and to me my counsellors and my great men do seek, and over my kingdom I have been made right, and abundant greatness hath been added to me.
36 No mesmo momento a minha razão retornou para mim, e para a glória do meu reino, minha honra e o meu brilho retornaram para mim; e meus conselheiros e meus senhores buscaram-me, e eu fui estabelecido no meu reino, e a mim foi acrescentada uma excelente majestade.
37 `Now, I, Nebuchadnezzar, am praising and exalting and honouring the King of the heavens, for all His works [are] truth, and His paths judgment, and those walking in pride He is able to humble.`
37 Agora eu, Nabucodonosor, louvo, exalto e honro o Rei do céu, cujas todas as obras são verdade e os seus caminhos juízo; e aqueles que caminham em orgulho ele é capaz de humilhar.
