1 In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia, a thing is revealed to Daniel, whose name is called Belteshazzar, and the thing [is] true, and the warfare [is] great: and he hath understood the thing, and hath understanding about the appearance.
1 Durante o terceiro ano de Ciro como rei da Pérsia, eu, Daniel, também chamado de Beltessazar, recebi uma mensagem de Deus. A mensagem era verdadeira, mas muito difícil de entender; eu recebi a explicação por meio de uma visão.
2 `In those days, I, Daniel, have been mourning three weeks of days;
2 Naquela ocasião, fiquei de luto por três semanas.
3 desirable bread I have not eaten, and flesh and wine hath not come in unto my mouth, and I have not anointed myself at all, till the completion of three weeks of days.
3 Durante aquele tempo, não comi nenhuma comida gostosa nem carne, não bebi vinho e não penteei o cabelo.
4 `And in the twenty and fourth day of the first month, I have been by the side of the great river, that [is] Hiddekel:
4 No dia vinte e quatro do primeiro mês do ano, eu estava na beira do grande rio Tigre,
5 and I lift up mine eyes, and look, and lo, a certain one clothed in linen, and his loins girt with pure gold of Uphaz,
5 quando, de repente, vi um anjo vestido com roupas de linho e usando um cinto de ouro puro.
6 and his body as a beryl, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as lamps of fire, and his arms and his feet as the aspect of bright brass, and the voice of his words as the voice of a multitude.
6 O seu corpo brilhava como pedras preciosas, o rosto parecia um relâmpago, os olhos eram como tochas acesas, os braços e as pernas brilhavam como bronze polido, e a voz soava como o barulho de uma multidão.
7 `And I have seen -- I, Daniel, by myself -- the appearance: and the men who have been with me have not seen the appearance, but a great trembling hath fallen on them, and they flee to be hidden;
7 Eu fui o único que vi essa visão. Os meus companheiros não viram nada, mas ficaram apavorados, e fugiram, e se esconderam.
8 and I have been left by myself, and I see this great appearance, and there hath been no power left in me, and my honour hath been turned in me to corruption, yea, I have not retained power.
8 Eu estava ali sozinho enquanto via essa visão impressionante. Fiquei pálido de medo e perdi as forças.
9 `And I hear the voice of his words, and when I hear the voice of his words, then I have been in a trance on my face, and my face [is] to the earth;
9 Quando ouvi o anjo falar, desmaiei e caí de bruços no chão.
10 and lo, a hand hath come against me, and shaketh me on my knees and the palms of my hands.
10 Aí a mão de alguém me levantou, e eu fiquei de joelhos, apoiando-me nas palmas das mãos.
11 `And he saith unto me: Daniel, man greatly desired, attend to the words that I am speaking unto thee, and stand on thy station, for now I have been sent unto thee. `And when he speaketh with me this word, I have stood trembling.
11 E o anjo me disse: — Daniel, Deus o ama muito e me mandou falar com você. Fique de pé e preste atenção no que vou dizer. Então eu fiquei de pé, tremendo dos pés até a cabeça.
12 And he saith unto me: Do not fear, Daniel, for from the first day that thou didst give thy heart to understand, and to humble thyself before thy God, thy words have been heard, and I have come because of thy words.
12 Aí ele disse: — Não fique com medo, Daniel, pois Deus ouviu a sua oração desde a primeira vez que você se humilhou na presença dele a fim de ganhar sabedoria. Eu vim em resposta à sua oração.
13 `And the head of the kingdom of Persia is standing over-against me twenty and one days, and lo, Michael, first of the chief heads, hath come in to help me, and I have remained there near the kings of Persia;
13 O anjo protetor do Reino da Pérsia lutou contra mim durante vinte e um dias. Mas Miguel, um dos anjos-chefes, veio me ajudar, pois eu estava lutando sozinho contra os reis da Pérsia.
14 and I have come to cause thee to understand that which doth happen to thy people in the latter end of the days, for yet the vision [is] after days.
14 Agora, eu vim explicar a você o que vai acontecer com o seu povo, pois essa visão é a respeito de coisas futuras.
15 `And when he speaketh with me about these things, I have set my face toward the earth, and have been silent;
15 Enquanto ele me dizia isso, eu fiquei calado, olhando para o chão.
16 and lo, as the manner of the sons of men, he is striking against my lips, and I open my mouth, and I speak, and say unto him who is standing over-against me: My lord, by the appearance turned have been my pangs against me, and I have retained no power.
16 De repente, um ser parecido com um homem tocou nos meus lábios; aí comecei a falar e disse ao anjo que estava na minha frente: — Meu senhor, essa visão me deixou aflito, e estou me sentindo fraco.
17 And how is the servant of this my lord able to speak with this my lord? as for me, henceforth there remaineth in me no power, yea, breath hath not been left in me.
17 Como é que eu, o seu criado, posso falar com o senhor? Estou completamente sem forças e quase não posso respirar.
18 `And he addeth, and striketh against me, as the appearance of a man, and strengtheneth me,
18 Então ele me tocou de novo, e com isso senti as minhas forças voltarem.
19 and he saith: Do not fear, O man greatly desired, peace to thee, be strong, yea, be strong; and when he speaketh with me, I have strengthened myself, and I say, Let my lord speak, for thou hast strengthened me.
19 Ele disse: — Deus o ama. Portanto, não fique com medo. Que a paz de Deus esteja com você. Anime-se! Tenha coragem! Então eu me senti bem mais forte e respondi: — Fale, pois o senhor me deu novas forças. — Sabe por que eu vim falar com você? Foi para dizer-lhe o que está escrito no Livro da Verdade. Mas agora eu preciso ir lutar contra o anjo protetor da Pérsia. Quando a luta acabar, virá o anjo protetor da Grécia. Mas na minha luta contra eles não há ninguém para me ajudar, a não ser Miguel, o anjo protetor de Israel.
20 And he saith, Hast thou known why I have come unto thee? and now I turn back to fight with the head of Persia; yea, I am going forth, and lo, the head of Javan hath come;
20 — ausente —
21 but I declare to thee that which is noted down in the Writing of Truth, and there is not one strengthening himself with me, concerning these, except Michael your head.
