¹ And Jehovah sendeth Nathan unto David, and he cometh unto him, and saith to him: `Two men have been in one city; One rich and one poor;

¹ E o SENHOR enviou Natã até Davi. E ele veio até Davi, e lhe disse: Havia dois homens em uma cidade; um rico, e o outro pobre.

² The rich hath flocks and herds very many;

² O homem rico tinha muitíssimas ovelhas e gado,

³ And the poor one hath nothing, Except one little ewe-lamb, Which he hath bought, and keepeth alive, And it groweth up with him, And with his sons together; Of his morsel it eateth, And from his cup it drinketh, And in his bosom it lieth, And it is to him as a daughter;

³ mas o homem pobre não tinha nada, salvo uma pequena cordeira, a qual ele havia comprado e criado; e ela cresceu junto a ele, e com os seus filhos; ela comia da sua própria carne e bebia da sua própria taça, e se deitava no seu peito, e era para ele como filha.

⁴ And there cometh a traveller to the rich man, And he spareth to take Of his own flock, and of his own herd, To prepare for the traveller Who hath come to him, And he taketh the ewe-lamb of the poor man, And prepareth it for the man Who hath come unto him.`

⁴ E veio ali um viajante ao homem rico, e ele deixou de tomar do seu próprio aprisco e do seu próprio gado, para preparar para o viajante que havia vindo até ele; mas tomou a cordeira do homem pobre, e a preparou para o homem que havia vindo até ele.

⁵ And the anger of David burneth against the man exceedingly, and he saith unto Nathan, `Jehovah liveth, surely a son of death [is] the man who is doing this,

⁵ E a ira de Davi se acendeu sobremaneira contra o homem; e ele disse a Natã: Como vive o SENHOR, o homem que fez esta coisa certamente deve morrer;

⁶ and the ewe-lamb he doth repay fourfold, because that he hath done this thing, and because that he had no pity.`

⁶ e ele deve restituir a cordeira ao quádruplo, porque ele fez esta coisa, e porque não teve piedade.

⁷ And Nathan saith unto David, `Thou [art] the man! Thus said Jehovah, God of Israel, I anointed thee for king over Israel, and I delivered thee out of the hand of Saul;

⁷ E Natã disse a Davi: Tu és o homem. Assim diz o SENHOR Deus de Israel: Eu te ungi rei sobre Israel, e eu te livrei da mão de Saul;

⁸ and I give to thee the house of thy lord, and the wives of thy lord, into thy bosom, and I give to thee the house of Israel and of Judah; and if little, then I add to thee such and such [things].

⁸ e te dei a casa do teu senhor, e as esposas do teu senhor no teu peito, e te dei a casa de Israel e de Judá; e se isto fora muito pouco, eu te teria dado ainda mais de tais e tais coisas.

⁹ `Wherefore hast thou despised the word of Jehovah, to do the evil thing in His eyes? Uriah the Hittite thou hast smitten by the sword, and his wife thou hast taken to thee for a wife, and him thou hast slain by the sword of the Bene-Ammon.

⁹ Por que desprezaste o mandamento do SENHOR, para fazer o mal à sua vista? Tu mataste Urias, o heteu, com a espada, e tomaste a sua esposa para ser tua esposa, e o mataste com a espada dos filhos de Amom.

¹⁰ `And now, the sword doth not turn aside from thy house unto the age, because thou hast despised Me, and dost take the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be to thee for a wife;

¹⁰ Agora, portanto, a espada jamais se apartará da tua casa; porque tu me desprezaste, e tomaste a esposa de Urias, o heteu, para ser tua esposa.

¹¹ thus said Jehovah, Lo, I am raising up against thee evil, out of thy house, and have taken thy wives before thine eyes, and given to thy neighbour, and he hath lain with thy wives before the eyes of this sun;

¹¹ Assim diz o SENHOR: Eis que suscitarei o mal contra ti a partir da tua própria casa, e tomarei as tuas esposas diante dos teus olhos, e as darei ao teu vizinho, e ele deitará com as tuas esposas à vista deste sol.

¹² for thou hast done [it] in secret, and I do this thing before all Israel, and before the sun.`

¹² Porque fizeste isto secretamente; mas eu farei esta coisa diante de todo o Israel, e diante do sol.

¹³ And David saith unto Nathan, `I have sinned against Jehovah.` And Nathan saith unto David, `Also -- Jehovah hath caused thy sin to pass away; thou dost not die;

¹³ E Davi disse a Natã: Pequei contra o SENHOR. E Natã disse a Davi: o SENHOR também pôs de lado o teu pecado; tu não morrerás.

¹⁴ only, because thou hast caused the enemies of Jehovah greatly to despise by this thing, also the son who is born to thee doth surely die.`

¹⁴ Todavia, por este feito, deste uma grande ocasião para os inimigos do SENHOR blasfemarem, também a criança que te nasceu certamente morrerá.

¹⁵ And Nathan goeth unto his house, and Jehovah smiteth the lad, whom the wife of Uriah hath born to David, and it is incurable;

¹⁵ E Natã partiu para a sua casa. E o SENHOR feriu a criança que a esposa de Urias deu a Davi, e ela ficou muito enferma.

¹⁶ and David seeketh God for the youth, and David keepeth a fast, and hath gone in and lodged, and lain on the earth.

¹⁶ Davi, então, buscou a Deus pela criança; e Davi jejuou, e entrou e ficou prostrado a noite toda sobre a terra.

¹⁷ And the elders of his house rise against him, to raise him up from the earth, and he hath not been willing, nor hath he eaten with them bread;

¹⁷ E os anciãos da sua casa se levantaram e foram ter com ele, para levantá-lo da terra: mas ele não quis, nem ele comeu pão com eles.

¹⁸ and it cometh to pass on the seventh day, that the lad dieth, and the servants of David fear to declare to him that the lad is dead, for they said, `Lo, in the lad being alive we spake unto him, and he did not hearken to our voice; and how do we say unto him, The lad is dead? -- then he hath done evil.`

¹⁸ E sucedeu, no sétimo dia, que a criança morreu. E os servos de Davi temiam contá-lo que a criança estava morta; porque diziam: Eis que, enquanto a criança estava viva, nós falávamos com ele, mas ele não atentava à nossa voz; como então se afligirá a si mesmo, se o contarmos que a criança está morta?

¹⁹ And David seeth that his servants are whispering, and David understandeth that the lad is dead, and David saith unto his servants, `Is the lad dead?` and they say, `Dead.`

¹⁹ Mas quando Davi viu que os seus servos cochichavam, Davi percebeu que a criança estava morta; pelo que disse Davi aos seus servos: A criança está morta? E eles o disseram: Ela está morta.

²⁰ And David riseth from the earth, and doth bathe and anoint [himself], and changeth his raiment, and cometh in to the house of Jehovah, and boweth himself, and cometh unto his house, and asketh and they place for him bread, and he eateth.

²⁰ Então Davi se levantou da terra, banhou-se e se ungiu, e trocou de indumentária, e entrou na casa do SENHOR, e adorou; então ele veio à sua própria casa; e quando ele solicitava, eles punham pão diante dele, e ele comia.

²¹ And his servants say unto him, `What [is] this thing thou hast done? because of the living lad thou hast fasted and dost weep, and when the lad is dead thou hast risen and dost eat bread.`

²¹ Então, disseram a ele os seus servos: Que coisa é esta que fizeste? Jejuaste e pranteaste pela criança, enquanto ela estava viva; mas quando a criança morreu, tu te levantaste e comeste pão.

²² And he saith, `While the lad is alive I have fasted, and weep, for I said, Who knoweth? -- Jehovah doth pity me, and the lad hath lived;

²² E ele disse: Enquanto a criança ainda estava viva, eu jejuei e pranteei; porquanto eu dizia: Quem poderá dizer se Deus será gracioso para comigo, de modo que a criança possa viver?

²³ and now, he hath died, why [is] this -- I fast? am I able to bring him back again? I am going unto him, and he doth not turn back unto me.`

²³ Mas agora que ela está morta, por que eu deveria jejuar? Posso trazê-la de volta? Eu irei até ela, mas ela não retornará a mim.

²⁴ And David comforteth Bath-Sheba his wife, and goeth in unto her, and lieth with her, and she beareth a son, and he calleth his name Solomon; and Jehovah hath loved him,

²⁴ E Davi consolou Bate-Seba, sua esposa, e entrou a ela, e se deitou com ela; e ela deu à luz um filho, e ele chamou o seu nome de Salomão; e o SENHOR o amou.

²⁵ and sendeth by the hand of Nathan the prophet, and calleth his name Jedidiah, because of Jehovah.

²⁵ E ele enviou pela mão de Natã, o profeta; e ele chamou o seu nome Jedidias, por causa do SENHOR.

²⁶ And Joab fighteth against Rabbah of the Bene-Ammon, and captureth the royal city,

²⁶ E Joabe lutou contra Rabá, dos filhos de Amom, e tomou a cidade real.

²⁷ and Joab sendeth messengers unto David, and saith, `I have fought against Rabbah -- also I have captured the city of waters;

²⁷ E Joabe enviou mensageiros a Davi, e disse: Eu lutei contra Rabá, e tomei a cidade das águas.

²⁸ and now, gather the rest of the people, and encamp against the city, and capture it, lest I capture the city, and my name hath been called upon it.`

²⁸ Agora, portanto, reúne o restante do povo, e acampa contra a cidade, e toma-a; para que eu não tome a cidade, e ela seja chamada segundo o meu nome.

²⁹ And David gathereth all the people, and goeth to Rabbah, and fighteth against it, and captureth it;

²⁹ E Davi reuniu todo o povo, e foi até Rabá, e lutou contra ela, e a tomou.

³⁰ and he taketh the crown of their king from off his head, and its weight [is] a talent of gold, and precious stones, and it is on the head of David; and the spoil of the city he hath brought out, very much;

³⁰ E ele tirou da cabeça do rei deles a sua coroa, cujo peso era um talento de ouro com as pedras preciosas; e ela foi posta na cabeça de Davi. E ele trouxe o despojo da cidade em grande abundância.

³¹ and the people who [are] in it he hath brought out, and setteth to the saw, and to cutting instruments of iron, and to axes of iron, and hath caused them to pass over into the brick-kiln; and so he doth to all the cities of the Bene-Ammon; and David turneth back, and all the people, to Jerusalem.

³¹ E ele retirou o povo que lá estava, e os pôs sob serras, e sob rastelos de ferro, e sob machados de ferro, e os fez passar por fornos de tijolos; e assim fez ele a todas as cidades dos filhos de Amom. Então Davi e todo o povo retornaram a Jerusalém.
