¹ And draw near do the days of David to die, and he chargeth Solomon his son, saying,

¹ Ora, aproximavam-se os dias da morte de Davi; e ele encarregou a Salomão, o seu filho, dizendo:

² `I am going in the way of all the earth, and thou hast been strong, and become a man,

² Eu vou pelo caminho de toda a terra; sê tu forte, portanto, e mostra-te um homem;

³ and kept the charge of Jehovah thy God, to walk in His ways, to keep His statutes, His commands, and His judgments, and His testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses, so that thou dost wisely all that thou dost, and whithersoever thou turnest,

³ e guarda o encargo do SENHOR teu Deus, para caminhar nos seus caminhos, para guardar os seus estatutos e os seus mandamentos, e os seus juízos, e os seus testemunhos, como está escrito na lei de Moisés, para que possas prosperar em tudo o que fazes, e para onde quer que te voltes;

⁴ so that Jehovah doth establish His word which He spake unto me, saying, If thy sons observe their way to walk before Me in truth, with all their heart, and with all their soul; saying, There is not cut off a man of thine from the throne of Israel.

⁴ para que o SENHOR possa continuar a sua palavra que falou a teu respeito, dizendo: Se os teus filhos atentarem ao seu caminho, para caminharem diante de mim em verdade com todo o seu coração e com toda a sua alma, não te faltará (disse ele) um homem no trono de Israel.

⁵ `And also, thou hast known that which he did to me -- Joab son of Zeruiah -- that which he did to two heads of the hosts of Israel, to Abner son of Ner, and to Amasa son of Jether -- that he slayeth them, and maketh the blood of war in peace, and putteth the blood of war in his girdle, that [is] on his loins, and in his sandals that [are] on his feet;

⁵ Além disso, tu sabes também o que Joabe, o filho de Zeruia fez a mim, e o que ele fez aos dois capitães dos exércitos de Israel, a Abner, o filho de Ner, e a Amasa, o filho de Jéter, a quem ele matou, e derramou o sangue da guerra em paz, e colocou o sangue da guerra sobre o seu cinto que estava junto aos seus lombos, e nos seus calçados que estavam nos seus pés.

⁶ and thou hast done according to thy wisdom, and dost not let his old age go down in peace to Sheol.

⁶ Faz, portanto, segundo a tua sabedoria, e não permitas que suas cãs desça ao sepulcro em paz.

⁷ `And to the sons of Barzillai the Gileadite thou dost do kindness, and they have been among those eating at thy table, for so they drew near unto me in my fleeing from the face of Absalom thy brother.

⁷ Porém, demonstra bondade para com os filhos de Barzilai, o gileadita, e deixa-os estar entre aqueles que comem à tua mesa; pois assim eles vieram a mim quando eu fugia por causa de Absalão, o teu irmão.

⁸ `And lo, with thee [is] Shimei son of Gera, the Benjamite of Bahurim, and he reviled me -- a grievous reviling -- in the day of my going to Mahanaim; and he hath come down to meet me at the Jordan, and I swear to him by Jehovah, saying, I do not put thee to death by the sword;

⁸ E, eis que, tu tens contigo Simei, o filho de Gera, um benjamita de Baurim, o qual me amaldiçoou com uma maldição dolorosa no dia em que fui a Maanaim; mas desceu para se encontrar comigo junto ao Jordão, e eu jurei-lhe pelo SENHOR, dizendo: Não te levarei à morte pela espada.

⁹ and now, acquit him not, for a wise man thou [art], and thou hast known that which thou dost to him, and hast brought down his old age with blood to Sheol.`

⁹ Agora, portanto, não o tenhas por inocente; pois tu és um homem sábio, e sabes o que deves fazer com ele; porém que as suas cãs desçam ao sepulcro com sangue.

¹⁰ And David lieth down with his fathers, and is buried in the city of David,

¹⁰ Assim, Davi dormiu com os seus pais, e foi sepultado na cidade de Davi.

¹¹ and the days that David hath reigned over Israel [are] forty years, in Hebron he hath reigned seven years, and in Jerusalem he hath reigned thirty and three years.

¹¹ E os dias em que Davi reinou sobre Israel foram quarenta anos; sete anos reinou ele em Hebrom, e trinta e três anos reinou em Jerusalém.

¹² And Solomon hath sat on the throne of David his father, and his kingdom is established greatly,

¹² Depois, assentou-se Salomão no trono de Davi, o seu pai; e o seu reino foi estabelecido magnificamente.

¹³ and Adonijah son of Haggith cometh in unto Bath-Sheba, mother of Solomon, and she saith, `Is thy coming peace?` and he saith, `Peace.`

¹³ E Adonias, o filho de Hagite, veio até Bate-Seba, a mãe de Salomão. E ela disse: Vens tu pacificamente? E ele disse: Pacificamente.

¹⁴ And he saith, `I have a word unto thee,` and she saith, `Speak.`

¹⁴ Disse ele também: Tenho algo a te dizer. E ela disse: Prossegue.

¹⁵ And he saith, `Thou hast known that the kingdom was mine, and towards me set their faces had all Israel for reigning, and the kingdom is turned round about, and is my brother`s, for from Jehovah it was his;

¹⁵ E ele disse: Tu sabes que o reino era meu, e que todo o Israel virou a face para mim, para que eu reinasse; todavia o reino sofreu reviravolta, e tornou-se do meu irmão; pois era dele da parte do SENHOR.

¹⁶ and now, one petition I am asking of thee -- turn not back my face;` and she saith unto him, `Speak.`

¹⁶ E, agora, faço uma petição a ti, não me negues. E ela lhe disse: Prossegue.

¹⁷ And he saith, `Speak, I pray thee, to Solomon the king, for he doth not turn back thy face, and he doth give to me Abishag the Shunammite for a wife.`

¹⁷ E ele disse: Dize ao rei Salomão, (pois ele não te dirá um não) para que ele me dê Abisague, a sunamita, como esposa.

¹⁸ And Bath-Sheba saith, `Good; I do speak for thee unto the king.`

¹⁸ E Bate-Seba disse: Bem, falarei por ti ao rei.

¹⁹ And Bath-Sheba cometh in unto king Solomon to speak to him for Adonijah, and the king riseth to meet her, and boweth himself to her, and sitteth on his throne, and placeth a throne for the mother of the king, and she sitteth at his right hand.

¹⁹ Bate-Seba, portanto, foi até ao rei Salomão, para falar com ele em favor de Adonias. E o rei se levantou para se encontrar com ela, e se curvou diante dela, e se assentou no seu trono, e fez com que um assento fosse preparado para a mãe do rei; e ela se assentou à sua direita.

²⁰ And she saith, `One small petition I ask of thee, turn not back my face;` and the king saith to her, `Ask, my mother, for I do not turn back thy face.`

²⁰ Então, ela disse: Desejo de ti uma pequena petição; rogo-te, não me digas um não. E o rei lhe disse: Pede, minha mãe; pois não te direi um não.

²¹ And she saith, `Let Abishag the Shunammite be given to Adonijah thy brother for a wife.`

²¹ E ela disse: Que Abisague, a sunamita, seja dada a Adonias, o teu irmão, como esposa.

²² And king Solomon answereth and saith to his mother, `And why art thou asking Abishag the Shunammite for Adonijah? also ask for him the kingdom -- for he [is] mine elder brother -- even for him, and for Abiathar the priest, and for Joab son of Zeruiah.`

²² E o rei Salomão respondeu e disse à sua mãe: E por que pedes tu Abisague, a sunamita, para Adonias? Pede também para ele o reino; pois é meu irmão mais velho, sim para ele, e para o sacerdote Abiatar, e para Joabe, filho de Zeruia.

²³ And king Solomon sweareth by Jehovah, saying, `Thus doth God to me, and thus He doth add -- surely against his soul hath Adonijah spoken this word;

²³ Então, o rei Salomão jurou pelo SENHOR, dizendo: Assim Deus me faça, e mais ainda, se não falou Adonias esta palavra contra a sua própria vida.

²⁴ and now, Jehovah liveth, who hath established me, and causeth me to sit on the throne of David my father, and who hath made for me an house as He spake -- surely to-day is Adonijah put to death.`

²⁴ Agora, portanto, como vive o SENHOR, o qual me estabeleceu, e me pôs sobre o trono de Davi, o meu pai, e que tem feito para mim uma casa, segundo prometeu: Adonias será levado à morte neste dia.

²⁵ And king Solomon sendeth by the hand of Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and he falleth upon him, and he dieth.

²⁵ E o rei Salomão enviou pela mão de Benaia, o filho de Joiada; o qual arremeteu contra ele, de forma que ele morreu.

²⁶ And to Abiathar the priest said the king, `To Anathoth go, unto thy fields; for a man of death thou [art], but in this day I do not put thee to death, because thou hast borne the ark of the Lord Jehovah before David my father, and because thou wast afflicted in all that my father was afflicted in.`

²⁶ E para Abiatar, o sacerdote, disse o rei: Vai-te para Anatote, para os teus próprios campos; pois tu és digno de morte; mas, desta vez, não te levarei à morte, porque tu carregaste a Arca do SENHOR Deus adiante de Davi, o meu pai, e porquanto tu foste afligido em tudo o que meu pai estava aflito.

²⁷ And Solomon casteth out Abiathar from being priest to Jehovah, to fulfil the word of Jehovah which He spake concerning the house of Eli in Shiloh.

²⁷ Assim, Salomão expulsou Abiatar do sacerdócio do SENHOR; para que ele pudesse cumprir a palavra do SENHOR, a qual ele falou a respeito da casa de Eli em Siló.

²⁸ And the report hath come unto Joab -- for Joab hath turned aside after Adonijah, though after Absalom he did not turn aside -- and Joab fleeth unto the tent of Jehovah, and layeth hold on the horns of the altar.

²⁸ Então chegaram novas a Joabe; porque Joabe havia se desviado após Adonias, embora não tivesse se desviado após Absalão. E Joabe fugiu para o tabernáculo do SENHOR, e se agarrou aos chifres do altar.

²⁹ And it is declared to king Solomon that Joab hath fled unto the tent of Jehovah, and lo, near the altar; and Solomon sendeth Benaiah son of Jehoiada, saying, `Go, fall upon him.`

²⁹ E contaram ao rei Salomão que Joabe havia fugido para o tabernáculo do SENHOR; e, eis que ele está junto ao altar. Então, Salomão enviou Benaia, o filho de Joiada, dizendo: Vai, cai sobre ele.

³⁰ And Benaiah cometh in unto the tent of Jehovah, and saith unto him, `Thus said the king, Come out;` and he saith, `Nay, but here I die.` And Benaiah bringeth back the king word, saying, `Thus spake Joab, yea, thus he answered me.`

³⁰ E Benaia veio até o tabernáculo do SENHOR, e disse-lhe: Assim diz o rei: Sai. E ele disse: Não; mas morrerei aqui. E Benaia trouxe novamente palavra ao rei, dizendo: Assim disse Joabe, e assim me respondeu.

³¹ And the king saith to him, `Do as he hath spoken, and fall upon him, and thou hast buried him, and turned aside the causeless blood which Joab shed, from off me, and from off the house of my father;

³¹ E disse-lhe o rei: Faz como ele disse, e cai sobre ele, e sepulta-o; para que tu possas remover o sangue inocente que Joabe derramou de mim e da casa do meu pai.

³² and Jehovah hath turned back his blood on his own head, who hath fallen on two men more righteous and better than he, and slayeth them with the sword, -- and my father David knew not -- Abner son of Ner, head of the host of Israel, and Amasa son of Jether, head of the host of Judah;

³² E o SENHOR devolverá o seu sangue sobre a sua própria cabeça, que caiu sobre dois homens mais justos e melhores do que ele, e os matou com a espada, sem o conhecimento do meu pai Davi, a saber, Abner, o filho de Ner, capitão do exército de Israel, e Amasa, o filho de Jéter, capitão do exército de Judá.

³³ yea, turned back hath their blood on the head of Joab, and on the head of his seed to the age; and for David, and for his seed, and for his house, and for his throne, there is peace unto the age, from Jehovah.`

³³ O sangue deles, portanto, retornará sobre a cabeça de Joabe, e sobre a cabeça da sua semente para sempre; mas sobre Davi, e sobre a sua semente, e sobre a sua casa, e sobre o seu trono, haverá paz do SENHOR para sempre.

³⁴ And Benaiah son of Jehoiada goeth up and falleth upon him, and putteth him to death, and he is buried in his own house in the wilderness,

³⁴ Assim subiu Benaia, o filho de Joiada, e arremeteu contra ele, e o matou; e foi sepultado na sua própria casa no deserto.

³⁵ and the king putteth Benaiah son of Jehoiada in his stead over the host, and Zadok the priest hath the king put in the stead of Abiathar.

³⁵ E o rei colocou Benaia, o filho de Joiada, em seu lugar sobre o exército; e Zadoque, o sacerdote, o rei colocou no lugar de Abiatar.

³⁶ And the king sendeth and calleth for Shimei, and saith to him, `Build for thee a house in Jerusalem, and thou hast dwelt there, and dost not go out thence any where;

³⁶ E o rei mandou chamar Simei, e disse-lhe: Edifica para ti uma casa em Jerusalém, e habita ali, e dali não vás para nenhum outro lugar.

³⁷ and it hath been, in the day of thy going out, and thou hast passed over the brook Kidron, thou dost certainly know that thou dost surely die -- thy blood is on thy head.`

³⁷ Porque sucederá que, no dia em que saíres, e atravessares o ribeiro de Cedrom, saberás com certeza que seguramente morrerás; o teu sangue estará sobre a tua própria cabeça.

³⁸ And Shimei saith to the king, `The word [is] good; as my lord the king hath spoken so doth thy servant do;` and Shimei dwelleth in Jerusalem many days.

³⁸ E Simei disse ao rei: O dizer é bom; como o meu senhor, o rei, disse, assim fará o teu servo. E Simei habitou em Jerusalém muitos dias.

³⁹ And it cometh to pass, at the end of three years, that flee do two of the servants of Shimei unto Achish son of Maachah, king of Gath, and they declare to Shimei, saying, `Lo, thy servants [are] in Gath;`

³⁹ E sucedeu, ao fim de três anos, que dois dos servos de Simei fugiram para Aquis, filho de Maaca, rei de Gate. E contaram a Simei, dizendo: Eis que os teus servos estão em Gate.

⁴⁰ and Shimei riseth, and saddleth his ass, and goeth to Gath, unto Achish, to seek his servants, and Shimei goeth and bringeth his servants from Gath.

⁴⁰ E Simei se levantou, e selou a sua mula, e foi a Gate ter com Aquis, para procurar os seus servos; e Simei foi, e trouxe os seus servos de Gate.

⁴¹ And it is declared to Solomon that Shimei hath gone from Jerusalem to Gath, and doth return,

⁴¹ E contaram a Salomão que Simei tinha ido de Jerusalém a Gate, e estava de volta.

⁴² and the king sendeth and calleth for Shimei, and saith unto him, `Have I not caused thee to swear by Jehovah -- and I testify against thee, saying, In the day of thy going out, and thou hast gone anywhere, thou dost certainly know that thou dost surely die; and thou sayest unto me, The word I have heard [is] good?

⁴² E o rei mandou chamar Simei, e lhe disse: Não te fiz jurar pelo SENHOR e protestei contigo, dizendo: Sabe por certo que, no dia em que tu saíres, e caminhares para qualquer lugar, que, seguramente, morrerás? E tu me disseste: A palavra que ouvi é boa.

⁴³ and wherefore hast thou not kept the oath of Jehovah, and the charge that I charged upon thee?`

⁴³ Por que, então não guardaste o juramento do SENHOR, e o mandamento com o qual que te ordenei?

⁴⁴ And the king saith unto Shimei, `Thou hast known all the evil that thy heart hath known, which thou didest to David my father, and Jehovah hath turned back thine evil on thy head,

⁴⁴ Além disso, o rei disse a Simei: Tu conheces toda a iniquidade com a qual o teu coração está familiarizado, que tu fizeste a Davi, o meu pai; portanto o SENHOR devolverá a tua iniquidade sobre a tua própria cabeça;

⁴⁵ and king Solomon [is] blessed, and the throne of David is established before Jehovah unto the age.`

⁴⁵ e o rei Salomão será bendito, e o trono de Davi será estabelecido diante do SENHOR para sempre.

⁴⁶ And the king chargeth Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and he goeth out and falleth on him, and he dieth, and the kingdom is established in the hand of Solomon.

⁴⁶ Assim, o rei ordenou Benaia, o filho de Joiada; o qual saiu, e arremeteu contra ele, de modo que morreu. E o reino foi estabelecido na mão de Salomão.
