1 But Job answered and said:
1 Jó, porém, respondeu, dizendo:
2 How have you helped him who is without power? How have you saved the arm that has no strength?
2 Como ajudaste aquele que não tinha força, e sustentaste o braço que não tinha vigor?
3 How have you counseled one who has no wisdom, or widely declared sound wisdom?
3 Como aconselhaste aquele que não tinha sabedoria, e plenamente fizeste saber a causa, assim como era?
4 To whom have you uttered words? And whose spirit came from you?
4 A quem proferiste palavras, e de quem é o espírito que saiu de ti?
5 The spirits of the dead wait anxiously under the waters, and those inhabiting them.
5 Os mortos tremem debaixo das águas, com os seus moradores.
6 Sheol is naked before Him, and Abaddon has no covering.
6 O inferno está nu perante ele, e não há coberta para a perdição.
7 He stretches out the north over empty space; He hangs the earth on nothing.
7 O norte estende sobre o vazio; e suspende a terra sobre o nada.
8 He binds up the waters in His thick clouds, yet the clouds are not split open under them.
8 Prende as águas nas suas nuvens, todavia a nuvem não se rasga debaixo delas.
9 He covers the face of His throne, and spreads His cloud over it.
9 Encobre a face do seu trono, e sobre ele estende a sua nuvem.
10 He has encircled a boundary for the face of the waters at the edge of light and darkness.
10 Marcou um limite sobre a superfície das águas em redor, até aos confins da luz e das trevas.
11 The pillars of heaven tremble, and are astonished at His rebuke.
11 As colunas do céu tremem, e se espantam da sua ameaça.
12 He has stirred up the sea with His power, and by His understanding has shattered the arrogant.
12 Com a sua força fende o mar, e com o seu entendimento abate a soberba.
13 By His Spirit He has made the heavens beautiful; His hand has brought forth the fleeing serpent.
13 Pelo seu Espírito ornou os céus; a sua mão formou a serpente enroscadiça.
14 Lo, these are the extremities of His ways; yea, what a whisper of a word has been heard of Him! But the thunder of His might who can understand?
14 Eis que isto são apenas as orlas dos seus caminhos; e quão pouco é o que temos ouvido dele! Quem, pois, entenderia o trovão do seu poder?
