1 Lo! forsothe Chore, the sone of Isuar, sone of Caath, sone of Leuy, and Dathan and Abiron, the sones of Heliab, and Hon, the sone of Pheleph, of the sones of Ruben, rysen ayens Moises,

2 and othere of the sones of Israel, two hundryd men and fifti, prynces of the synagoge, and whiche weren clepid bi names in the tyme of counsel.

3 And whanne `thei hadden stonde ayens Moises and Aaron, thei seiden, Suffice it to you, for al the multitude is of hooly men, and the Lord is in hem; whi ben ye reisid on the puple of the Lord?
3 Eles foram juntos falar com Moisés e Arão e disseram: — Agora chega! Todo o povo pertence a Deus, o
4 And whanne Moises hadde herd this, he felde lowe on the face.
4 Quando Moisés ouviu isso, ajoelhou-se, encostou o rosto no chão
5 And he spak to Chore, and to al the multitude; he seide, Eerli the Lord schal make knowun whiche perteynen to hym, and he schal applie to hym hooli men; and thei whiche he hath chose, schulen neiye to hym.
5 e disse o seguinte a Corá e a todos os seus seguidores: — Amanhã cedo o
6 Therfor do ye this thing; ech man take his cencere, thou Chore, and al thi counsel;

7 and to morewe whanne fier is takun vp, putte ye encense aboue bifor the Lord, and whom euer the Lord chesith, he schal be hooli. Ye sones of Leuy ben myche reisid.

8 And eft Moises seide to Chore, Ye sones of Leuy, here.
8 Moisés disse também a Corá: — Agora escutem, levitas!
9 Whether it is litil to you, that God of Israel departide you fro al the puple, and ioynede you to hym silf, that ye schulden serue hym in the seruyce of tabernacle, and that ye schulden stonde bifor the multitude of puple, and schulden serue hym?
9 O Deus de Israel os separou do resto do povo para poderem chegar perto dele, para fazerem o seu serviço na Tenda do Senhor e para realizarem as cerimônias em favor do povo. Será que isso não basta para vocês?
10 Made he therfor thee and alle thi bretheren the sones of Leuy to neiy to hym silf, that ye chalenge to you also preesthod,
10 Deus deu a você e a todos os outros levitas esse privilégio, e agora vocês estão querendo também ser sacerdotes?
11 and al thi gaderyng togidere stonde ayens the Lord? For whi what is Aaron, that ye grutchen ayens hym?
11 Quando vocês reclamam contra Arão, na verdade é contra o Senhor que você e os seus seguidores estão se revoltando.
12 Therfor Moises sente to clepe Dathan and Abiron, the sones of Heliab; whiche answeriden, We comen not.
12 Então Moisés mandou chamar Datã e Abirão, filhos de Eliabe, mas eles responderam aos mensageiros: — Nós não vamos!
13 Whethir is it litil to thee, that thou leddist vs out of the lond that flowide with mylk and hony, to sle vs in the deseert, no but also thou be lord of vs?
13 Será que não basta você nos ter tirado de uma terra boa e rica a fim de nos fazer morrer neste deserto? E além disso ainda quer mandar em nós?
14 Verili thou hast bronyt vs in to the lond that flowith with streemys of mylk and hony, and hast youe to vs possessioun of feeldis, and of vyneris; whethir also thou wolt putte out oure iyen?
14 Na verdade você não nos trouxe para uma terra boa e rica, nem nos deu campos e plantações de uvas para serem nossa propriedade; e ainda por cima está querendo nos enganar. Nós não vamos!
15 We comen not. And Moises was wrooth greetli, and seide to the Lord, Biholde thou not the sacrifices of hem; thou wost that Y took neuere of hem, yhe, a litil asse, nethir Y turmentide ony of hem.
15 Então Moisés ficou muito zangado e disse a Deus, o Senhor : — Não aceites as ofertas desses homens. Eu nunca prejudiquei a nenhum deles, nem tirei deles nem mesmo um jumento!
16 And Moises seide to Chore, Thou and al thi congregacioun stonde asidis half bifor the Lord, and Aaron to morewe bi hym silf.
16 Aí Moisés disse a Corá: — Amanhã você e os seus duzentos e cinquenta seguidores venham até a Tenda Sagrada. Arão também estará ali.
17 Take ye alle bi you silf youre censeris, and putte ye encense in tho, and offre ye to the Lord, tweyn hundrid and fifti censeris; and Aaron holde his censer.
17 Cada um de vocês pegará o seu queimador de incenso, colocará incenso nele e o levará até o altar.
18 And whanne thei hadden do this, while Moises and Aaron stoden,
18 Assim, cada homem pegou o seu queimador de incenso, pôs brasas e incenso nele, e todos ficaram na entrada da Tenda Sagrada com Moisés e Arão.
19 and thei hadden gaderid al the multitude to the `dore of the tabernacle ayens hem, the glorie of the Lord apperide to alle.
19 Então Corá reuniu todo o povo, e eles ficaram diante de Moisés e Arão na entrada da Tenda. De repente, a glória do Senhor apareceu a todo o povo,
20 And the Lord spak to Moises and Aaron,
20 e o Senhor disse a Moisés e a Arão:
21 and seide, Be ye departid fro the myddis of this congregacioun, that Y leese hem sodeynli.
21 — Saiam do meio dessa gente, pois eu vou acabar com eles agora mesmo.
22 Whiche felden lowe on the face, and seiden, Strongeste God of the spiritis of al fleisch, whethir `thin yre schal be fers ayens alle men, for o man synneth?
22 Mas Moisés e Arão se ajoelharam, encostaram o rosto no chão e disseram: — Ó Deus, tu dás vida a todos. Será que por causa do pecado de uma só pessoa vais ficar
23 And the Lord seide to Moises,
23 Então o Senhor respondeu a Moisés:
24 Comaunde thou to al the puple, that it be departid fro the tabernaclis of Chore, and of Dathan, and of Abiron.
24 — Diga ao povo que saia de perto das barracas de Corá, Datã e Abirão.
25 And Moises roos, and yede to Dathan and Abiron; and while the eldre men of Israel sueden hym,
25 Aí Moisés saiu e, junto com os líderes do povo, foi para onde estavam Datã e Abirão.
26 he seide to the cumpeny, Go ye awey fro the tabernaclis of wickid men, and nyle ye touche tho thingis that parteynen to hem, lest ye ben wlappid in the synnes of hem.
26 E Moisés disse ao povo: — Afastem-se das barracas desses homens maus e não toquem em nada que seja deles; se não, vocês também serão destruídos por causa dos pecados deles.
27 And whanne thei hadden gon awei fro the tentis `of hem bi the cumpas, Dathan and Abiron yeden out, and stoden in the entryng of her tentis, with wyues, and fre children, and al the multitude.
27 Aí o povo se afastou das barracas de Corá, Datã e Abirão. Datã e Abirão saíram e ficaram na entrada da sua barraca, com as suas mulheres e filhos.
28 And Moises seide, In this ye schulen wite that the Lord sente me, that Y schulde do alle thingis whiche ye seen, and Y brouyte not forth tho of myn owne herte.
28 Então Moisés disse ao povo: — Eu vou dizer como vocês vão ficar sabendo que não fui eu quem resolveu fazer tudo isso. Fiz todas essas coisas porque o
29 If thei perischen bi customable deeth of men, and wounde visite hem, bi which also othere men ben wont to be visitid,
29 Se estes homens tiverem morte natural como todos os outros, sem nenhum castigo de Deus, então o Senhor não me enviou.
30 the Lord sente not me; but if the Lord doith a newe thing, that the erthe opene his mouth, and swolewe hem, and alle thingis that perteynen to hem, and thei goen doun quyke in to helle, ye schulen wite that thei blasfemeden the Lord.
30 Mas, se ele fizer acontecer alguma coisa fora do comum, e se a terra se abrir e engolir essa gente com tudo o que eles têm, e eles descerem vivos para o mundo dos mortos , vocês ficarão sabendo que estes homens rejeitaram o Senhor .
31 Therfor anoon as he cesside to speke, the erthe was brokun vndur her feet,
31 E aconteceu que, assim que Moisés acabou de falar, a terra se abriu debaixo deles
32 and the erthe openyde his mouth, and deuowride hem, with her tabernaclis, and al the catel `of hem;
32 e os engoliu com as suas famílias, junto com todos os seguidores de Corá e tudo o que eles tinham.
33 and thei yeden doun quike in to helle, and weren hilid with erthe, and perischiden fro the myddis of the multitude.
33 Assim, desceram vivos para o mundo dos mortos, eles e tudo o que possuíam. A terra os cobriu, e eles desapareceram.
34 And sotheli al Israel that stood bi the cumpas, fledde fro the cry of men perischinge, and seide, Lest perauenture the erthe swolewe also vs.
34 Ao ouvirem os gritos deles, todos os israelitas que estavam ali saíram correndo e gritando: — A terra vai engolir a gente também!
35 But also fier yede out fro the Lord, and killide tweyn hundrid and fifti men that offriden encense.
35 Então o Senhor enviou fogo e matou os duzentos e cinquenta homens que haviam oferecido incenso.
36 And the Lord spak to Moises, and seide,
36 Aí o Senhor Deus disse a Moisés:
37 Comaunde thou to Eleasar, sone of Aaron, preest, that he take the censeris that liggen in the brennyng, and that he schatere the fier hidur and thidur; for tho ben halewid in the dethis of synneris;
37 — Diga a Eleazar, filho do sacerdote Arão, que pegue os queimadores de incenso do meio dos restos do incêndio e espalhe para longe as brasas que ainda estiverem neles, pois os queimadores de incenso são sagrados.
38 and that he bringe forth tho in to platis, and naile to the auter, for encense is offrid in tho to the Lord, and tho ben halewid, that the sonis of Israel se tho for a signe and memorial.
38 Eles ficaram sagrados quando foram oferecidos no altar do Senhor . Portanto, pegue os queimadores de incenso desses homens que foram mortos por causa dos seus pecados e deles faça folhas finas de metal. E com essas folhas prepare uma cobertura para o altar. 39 Therfor Eleazar, preest, took the brasun senseris, in whiche censeris thei whiche the brennyng deuouride hadden offrid, and he `brouyt forth tho in to platis, and nailide to the auter;
39 Então o sacerdote Eleazar pegou os queimadores de incenso de metal que os homens que tinham sido mortos haviam trazido e mandou que deles fossem feitas folhas de metal para cobrir o altar.
40 that the sones of Israel schulden haue thingis aftirward, bi whiche thei schulden remembre, lest ony alien, and which is not of the seed of Aaron, neiy to offre encense to the Lord, lest he suffre, as Chore sufferide, and al his multitude, while the Lord spak to Moises.
40 Conforme o Senhor tinha dito a Moisés, isso ficou sendo um aviso para os israelitas a fim de que nenhuma pessoa que não seja descendente de Arão venha a queimar incenso diante do Senhor e seja castigada, como aconteceu com Corá e com os seus seguidores.
41 Forsothe al the multitude of the sones of Israel grutchide in the dai suynge ayens Moises and Aaron, and seide, Ye han slayn the puple of the Lord.
41 Mas no dia seguinte todos os israelitas começaram a reclamar contra Moisés e Arão, dizendo assim: — Vocês mataram o povo de Deus, o
42 And whanne discensioun roos,
42 Depois que todos se reuniram para protestar contra Moisés e Arão, eles se viraram para a Tenda Sagrada e viram que a nuvem a estava cobrindo. Então a glória do Senhor apareceu.
43 and noise encresside, Moises and Aaron fledden to the tabernacle of the boond of pees; and aftir that thei entriden in to it, a cloude hilide the tabernacle, and the glorie of the Lord apperide.
43 Moisés e Arão foram até a frente da Tenda,
44 And the Lord seide to Moises and to Aaron,
44 e o Senhor disse a Moisés:
45 Go ye awey fro the myddis of this multitude, also now Y schal do awey hem. And whanne thei laien in the erthe, Moises seide to Aaron,
45 — Saiam do meio desse povo, pois vou destruí-lo agora mesmo! Aí Moisés e Arão se ajoelharam e encostaram o rosto no chão.
46 Take the censer, and whanne fyer is takun vp of the auter, caste encense aboue, and go soone to the puple, that thou preye for hem; for now ire is gon out fro the Lord, and the wounde is feers.
46 E Moisés disse a Arão: — Pegue o seu queimador de incenso, ponha nele algumas brasas do altar e jogue incenso em cima delas. E vá depressa até o lugar onde o povo está e ofereça o
47 And whanne Aaron hadde do this, and hadde runne to the myddis of the multitude, which the brennynge wastid thanne, he offeride encense;
47 Então Arão pegou o queimador de incenso, conforme Moisés havia mandado, e correu para o meio do povo. Quando viu que a epidemia já havia começado, Arão jogou o incenso nas brasas e ofereceu o sacrifício para conseguir o perdão dos pecados do povo.
48 and he stood bytwixe the deed men and lyuynge, and bisouyte for the puple, and the wounde ceesside.
48 Com isso a epidemia parou, e Arão ficou de pé entre os vivos e os mortos.
49 Sotheli thei that weren smytun weren fourtene thousynde of men and seuene hundrid, with outen hem that perischiden in the discencioun of Chore.
49 Naquela epidemia morreram catorze mil e setecentas pessoas, fora as que morreram na revolta de Corá.
50 And Aaron turnyde ayen to Moyses, to the dore of the tabernacle of boond of pees, aftir that the perischyng restide.
50 Quando acabou a epidemia, Arão voltou para a entrada da Tenda, onde Moisés estava.
