1 Yn the meene tyme the grutchyng of the puple, as of men sorewynge for trauel, roos ayens the Lord. And whanne Moises hadde herd this thing, he was wrooth; and the fier of the Lord was kyndelid on hem, and deuouride the laste part of the tentis.
1 E quando o povo se queixou, isso desagradou ao SENHOR, e o SENHOR ouviu isto; e a sua ira se acendeu, e o fogo do SENHOR ardeu entre eles, e consumiu os que estavam nas partes mais distantes do acampamento.
2 And whanne the puple hadde cried to Moises, Moises preiede the Lord, and the fier was quenchid.
2 E o povo clamou a Moisés, e quando Moisés orou ao SENHOR, o fogo se apagou.
3 And he clepid the name of that place Brennyng, for the fier of the Lord was kyndlid ayens hem.
3 E ele chamou aquele lugar de Taberá, porque o fogo do SENHOR acendera entre eles.
4 And the comyn puple of `malis and femalis, that hadde stied with hem, brent with desire of fleischis, and sat, and wepte with the sones of Israel ioyned togidere to hem, and seide, Who schal yyue to vs fleischis to ete?
4 E no meio deles havia alguns estrangeiros que sentiram um anseio, e os filhos de Israel também choraram outra vez, e perguntaram: Quem nos dará carne para comer?
5 We thenken on the fischis whiche we eten in Egipt freli; gourdis, and melouns, and lekis, and oyniouns, and garlekis comen in to mynde `to vs;
5 Nós nos lembramos dos peixes que comíamos livremente no Egito; e os pepinos, e os melões, e os alhos-porros, e as cebolas, e os alhos.
6 oure soule is drie; oure iyen byholden noon other thing `no but manna.
6 Mas agora a nossa alma está seca; não há nada além deste maná, diante dos nossos olhos.
7 Forsothe manna was as the seed of coriaundre, of the colour of bdellyum, which is whijt and briyt as cristal.
7 E o maná era como semente de coentro, e a sua cor como a cor do bdélio.
8 And the puple yede aboute, and gaderide it, and brak with a queerne stoon, ether pownede in a morter, and sethide in a pot; and made therof litle cakis of the sauour, as of breed maad with oile.
8 E o povo ia e o colhia, e o moía em moinhos ou esmagava em pilões, e o cozinhava em panelas, e fazia bolos deles; e o seu sabor era como o do azeite fresco.
9 And whanne dew cam doun in the niyt on the tentis, also manna cam doun togidere.
9 E quando caía o orvalho sobre o acampamento, à noite, o maná descia sobre ele.
10 Therfor Moises herde the puple wepynge bi meynees, and `alle bi hem silf bi the doris of her tentis; and the woodnesse of the Lord was wrooth greetli, but also the thing was seyn vnsuffrable to Moises.
10 Então, Moisés ouviu o povo chorar, as suas famílias, cada homem à porta da sua tenda; e a ira do SENHOR se acendeu grandemente. Moisés também estava descontente.
11 And he seide to the Lord, Whi hast thou turmentid thi seruaunt? whi fynde Y not grace bifor thee? and whi hast thou put on me the burthun of al this puple?
11 E Moisés disse ao SENHOR: Por que afligiste a teu servo, e por que não encontrei favor aos teus olhos, por qual razão colocaste os cuidados de todo este povo sobre mim?
12 whethir Y conseyuede al this multitude, ethir gendride it, that thou seie to me, Bere thou hem in thi bosum as a nurise is wont to bere a litil yong child, and bere thou in to the lond for which thou hast swore to the fadris `of hem.
12 Eu concebi todo este povo? Fui eu que o gerei, para que me dissesses: Leva-os no teu seio, como a ama leva a criança que ainda é amamentada à terra que juraste aos seus pais?
13 wherof ben fleischis to me, that Y `yyue to so greet multitude? Thei wepen bifore me, and seyn, `Yyue thou fleischis to vs that we ete;
13 De onde eu poderia obter carne para dar a todo este povo? Porque choram a mim, e dizem: Dá-nos carne para que possamos comer.
14 I mai not aloone suffre al this puple, for it is greuouse to me.
14 Eu sozinho não sou capaz de suportar com todo este povo, porque isto é pesado demais para mim.
15 If in other maner it semeth to thee, Y biseche that thou sle me, and that Y fynde grace in thin iyen, that Y be not punyschid bi so grete yuelis.
15 E, se ages assim comigo, eu te peço, mata-me se encontrei favor aos teus olhos; e não me deixes ver a minha desgraça.
16 And the Lord seide to Moises, Gadere thou to me seuenti men of the eldre men of Israel, whiche thou knowist, `that thei ben the elde men and maistris of the puple; and thou schalt lede hem to the dore of the tabernacle of boond of pees, and thou schalt make to stonde there with thee,
16 E o SENHOR disse a Moisés: Reúne para mim setenta homens dos anciãos de Israel, a quem conheces como anciãos do povo e seus oficiais; e traze-os ao tabernáculo da congregação, para que possam ficar ali contigo.
17 that Y come doun, and speke to thee; and Y schal take awey of thi spirit, and Y schal yyue to hem, that thei susteyne with thee the birthun of the puple, and not thou aloone be greuyd.
17 E eu descerei, e ali falarei contigo, e tirarei do espírito que está sobre ti, e o colocarei sobre eles; e eles levarão contigo a carga do povo, para que não a leves sozinho.
18 And thou schalt seie to the puple, Be ye halewid; to morew ye schulen ete fleischis; for Y herde you seie, Who schal yyue to vs the metis of fleischis? it was wel to vs in Egipt; that the Lord yyue `fleischis to you,
18 E dize ao povo: Santificai-vos para amanhã e comereis carne, porque chorastes aos ouvidos do SENHOR, dizendo: Quem nos dará carne para comer? Porque tudo ia bem conosco no Egito; e por isso o SENHOR vos dará carne, e comereis.
19 and that ye ete not o dai, ethir tweyne, ethir fyue, ethir ten, sotheli nether twenti,
19 E não comereis um dia, nem dois dias, nem cinco dias, nem dez dias, nem vinte dias;
20 but `til to a monethe of daies, til it go out bi youre nosethirlis, and turne in to wlatyng; for ye han put awei the Lord, which is in the myddis of you, and ye wepten bifor hym, and seiden, Whi yeden we out of Egipt?
20 mas durante um mês inteiro, até que vos saia pelas narinas, até que vos seja repugnante, porque desprezastes o SENHOR, que está no vosso meio, e chorastes diante dele, dizendo: Por que saímos do Egito?
21 And Moises seide to the Lord, Sixe hundrid thousynde of foot men ben of this puple, and thou seist, Y schal yyue to hem `mete of fleischis an hool monethe.
21 E disse Moisés: O povo no meio do qual estou, são seiscentos mil homens de pé, e disseste: Eu lhes darei carne para que possam comer um mês inteiro.
22 Whether the multitude of scheep and of oxun schal be slayn, that it may suffice to mete, ethir alle the fischis of the see schulen be gaderid to gidere, that tho fille hem?
22 Deveremos matar os rebanhos e o gado, para satisfazê-los? Ou todos os peixes do mar serão reunidos para eles, para satisfazê-los?
23 To whom the Lord answeride, Whether the `hond of the Lord is vnmyyti? riyt now thou schalt se, wher my word schal be fillid in werk.
23 E o SENHOR disse a Moisés: Terá a mão do SENHOR ficado mais curta? Verás, agora, se a minha palavra acontecerá a ti ou não.
24 Therfor Moises cam, and telde to the puple the wordis of the Lord; and he gaderide seuenti men of the eldere of Israel, whiche he made stonde aboute the tabernacle.
24 E Moisés saiu, e disse ao povo as palavras do SENHOR, e reuniu setenta homens dos anciãos do povo e os colocou ao redor do tabernáculo.
25 And the Lord cam doun bi a cloude, and spak to Moises, and took a weye of the spirit that was in Moises, and yaf to the seuenti men; and whanne the spirit hadde restid in hem, thei profesieden, and ceessiden not `aftirward.
25 E o SENHOR desceu em uma nuvem, e lhe falou; e tomou do Espírito que estava sobre ele, e deu aos setenta anciãos; e sucedeu que, quando repousava sobre eles o Espírito, eles profetizaram, e não cessou.
26 Forsothe twei men dwelliden stille in the tentis, of whiche men oon was clepid Heldad, and the tothir Medad, on whiche the spirit restide; for also thei weren descryued, and thei yeden not out to the tabernacle.
26 Mas ficaram dois dos homens no acampamento; um deles se chamava Eldade, e o outro Medade; e pousou sobre eles o Espírito, e eles estavam entre os inscritos, porém não foram ao tabernáculo, e eles profetizavam no acampamento.
27 And whanne thei profesieden in the tentis, a child ran, and teld to Moises, and seide, Heldad and Medad profecien in the tentis.
27 E um jovem correu, e contou a Moisés, dizendo: Eldade e Medade estão profetizando no acampamento.
28 Anoon Josue, the sone of Nun, the `mynystre of Moises, and chosun of manye, seide, My lord Moises, forbede thou hem.
28 E Josué, filho de Num, servo de Moisés, um dos seus jovens, respondeu e disse: Moisés, meu senhor, proíbe que façam isso.
29 And he seide, What hast thou enuye for me? who yyueth that al the puple profesie, and that God yyue his spirit to hem?
29 E Moisés lhe disse: Tens tu ciúmes por mim? Quisera Deus que todo o povo do SENHOR fosse profeta, e que o SENHOR colocasse o seu Espírito sobre eles.
30 And Moises turnede ayen, and the eldre men in birthe of Israel in to the tentis.
30 E Moisés o levou ao acampamento, ele e os anciãos de Israel.
31 Forsothe a wynde yede forth fro the Lord, and took curlewis, and bar ouer the see, and lefte in to the tentis, in the iurney, as myche as mai be parformed in o day, bi ech part of the tentis bi cumpas; and tho flowen in the eir bi twei cubitis in `hiynesse ouer the erthe.
31 E então, veio um vento do SENHOR, e trouxe codornizes do mar, e as fez cair no acampamento, estavam um dia de viagem de um lado, e estavam um dia de viagem do outro lado, ao redor do acampamento, e era dois côvados de altura sobre a terra.
32 Therfor the puple roos in al that dai and nyyt and in to the tothir dai, and gaderide the multitude of curlewis; he that gaderide litil, gaderide ten `mesuris clepid chorus; `and o chorus conteyneth ten buschels; and thei drieden tho curlewis bi the cumpas of the tentis.
32 E o povo se levantou todo aquele dia, e toda aquela noite, e todo o dia seguinte, e recolheu as codornizes; aquele que colhera menos, colhera dez ômeres; e as espalharam ao redor do acampamento.
33 Yit `fleischis weren in the teeth `of hem, and siche mete failide not; and lo! the woodnesse of the Lord was reisid ayens the puple, and smoot it with a ful greet veniaunce.
33 E quando a carne estava entre os seus dentes, e antes que fosse mastigada, a ira do SENHOR se acendeu contra o povo, e o SENHOR feriu o povo com uma praga muito grande.
34 And thilke place was clepid The sepulcris of coueitise, for there thei birieden the puple that desiride fleischis. Sotheli thei yeden `out of the sepulcris of coueitise, and camen in to Asseroth, and dwelliden there.
34 E deu àquele lugar o nome de Quibrote-Hataavá, porque ali enterraram o povo que teve o desejo.
35 — ausente —
35 E de Quibrote-Hataavá, o povo viajou para Hazerote e ficou em Hazerote.
