1 And Jhesus, seynge the puple, wente vp in to an hil; and whanne he was set, hise disciplis camen to hym.
1 Vendo aquelas multidões, Jesus subiu à montanha. Sentou-se e seus discípulos aproximaram-se dele.
2 And he openyde his mouth, and tauyte hem, and seide,
2 Então abriu a boca e lhes ensinava, dizendo:
3 Blessed ben pore men in spirit, for the kyngdom of heuenes is herne.
3 Bem-aventurados os que têm um coração de pobre, porque deles é o Reino dos céus!
4 Blessid ben mylde men, for thei schulen welde the erthe.
4 Bem-aventurados os que choram, porque serão consolados!
5 Blessid ben thei that mornen, for thei schulen be coumfortid.
5 Bem-aventurados os mansos, porque possuirão a terra!
6 Blessid ben thei that hungren and thristen riytwisnesse, for thei schulen be fulfillid.
6 Bem-aventurados os que têm fome e sede de justiça, porque serão saciados!
7 Blessid ben merciful men, for thei schulen gete merci.
7 Bem-aventurados os misericordiosos, porque alcançarão misericórdia!
8 Blessid ben thei that ben of clene herte, for thei schulen se God.
8 Bem-aventurados os puros de coração, porque verão Deus!
9 Blessid ben pesible men, for thei schulen be clepid Goddis children.
9 Bem-aventurados os pacíficos, porque serão chamados filhos de Deus!
10 Blessid ben thei that suffren persecusioun for riytfulnesse, for the kingdam of heuenes is herne.
10 Bem-aventurados os que são perseguidos por causa da justiça, porque deles é o Reino dos céus!
11 `Ye schulen be blessid, whanne men schulen curse you, and schulen pursue you, and shulen seie al yuel ayens you liynge, for me.
11 Bem-aventurados sereis quando vos caluniarem, quando vos perseguirem e disserem falsamente todo o mal contra vós por causa de mim.
12 Ioie ye, and be ye glad, for youre meede is plenteuouse in heuenes; for so thei han pursued `also profetis that weren bifor you.
12 Alegrai-vos e exultai, porque será grande a vossa recompensa nos céus, pois assim perseguiram os profetas que vieram antes de vós.
13 Ye ben salt of the erthe; that if the salt vanysche awey, whereynne schal it be saltid? To no thing it is worth ouere, no but that it be cast out, and be defoulid of men.
13 Vós sois o sal da terra. Se o sal perde o sabor, com que lhe será restituído o sabor? Para nada mais serve senão para ser lançado fora e calcado pelos homens.
14 Ye ben liyt of the world; a citee set on an hil may not be hid;
14 Vós sois a luz do mundo. Não se pode esconder uma cidade situada sobre uma montanha
15 ne me teendith not a lanterne, and puttith it vndur a busschel, but on a candilstike, that it yyue liyt to alle that ben in the hous.
15 nem se acende uma luz para colocá-la debaixo do alqueire, mas sim para colocá-la sobre o candeeiro, a fim de que brilhe a todos os que estão em casa.
16 So schyne youre liyt befor men, that thei se youre goode werkis, and glorifie youre fadir that is in heuenes.
16 Assim, brilhe vossa luz diante dos homens, para que vejam as vossas boas obras e glorifiquem vosso Pai que está nos céus.
17 Nil ye deme, that Y cam to vndo the lawe, or the profetis; Y cam not to vndo the lawe, but to fulfille.
17 Não julgueis que vim abolir a lei ou os profetas. Não vim para os abolir, mas sim para levá-los à perfeição.
18 Forsothe Y seie to you, til heuene and erthe passe, o lettir or o titel shal not passe fro the lawe, til alle thingis be doon.
18 Pois em verdade vos digo: passará o céu e a terra, antes que desapareça um jota, um traço da lei.
19 Therfor he that brekith oon of these leeste maundementis, and techith thus men, schal be clepid the leste in the rewme of heuenes; `but he that doith, and techith, schal be clepid greet in the kyngdom of heuenes.
19 Aquele que violar um destes mandamentos, por menor que seja, e ensinar assim aos homens, será declarado o menor no Reino dos céus. Mas aquele que os guardar e os ensinar será declarado grande no Reino dos céus.
20 And Y seie to you, that but your riytfulnesse be more plenteuouse than of scribis and of Farisees, ye schulen not entre into the kyngdom of heuenes.
20 Digo-vos, pois, se vossa justiça não for maior que a dos escribas e fariseus, não entrareis no Reino dos céus.
21 Ye han herd that it was seid to elde men, Thou schalt not slee; and he that sleeth, schal be gilti to doom.
21 Ouvistes o que foi dito aos antigos: Não matarás, mas quem matar será castigado pelo juízo do tribunal.
22 But Y seie to you, that ech man that is wrooth to his brothir, schal be gilti to doom; and he that seith to his brother, Fy! schal be gilti to the counseil; but he that seith, Fool, schal be gilti to the fier of helle.
22 Mas eu vos digo: todo aquele que se irar contra seu irmão será castigado pelos juízes. Aquele que disser a seu irmão: Raca, será castigado pelo Grande Conselho. Aquele que lhe disser: Louco, será condenado ao fogo da geena.
23 Therfor if thou offrist thi yifte `at the auter, and ther thou bithenkist, that thi brothir hath sum what ayens thee,
23 Se estás, portanto, para fazer a tua oferta diante do altar e te lembrares de que teu irmão tem alguma coisa contra ti,
24 leeue there thi yifte bifor the auter, and go first to be recounselid to thi brothir, and thanne thou schalt come, and schalt offre thi yifte.
24 deixa lá a tua oferta diante do altar e vai primeiro reconciliar-te com teu irmão; só então vem fazer a tua oferta.
25 Be thou consentynge to thin aduersarie soone, while thou art in the weie with hym, lest perauenture thin aduersarie take thee to the domesman, and the domesman take thee to the mynystre, and thou be sent in to prisoun.
25 Entra em acordo sem demora com o teu adversário, enquanto estás em caminho com ele, para que não suceda que te entregue ao juiz, e o juiz te entregue ao seu ministro e sejas posto em prisão.
26 Treuli Y seie to thee, thou shalt not go out fro thennus, til thou yelde the last ferthing.
26 Em verdade te digo: dali não sairás antes de teres pago o último centavo.
27 Ye han herd that it was seid to elde men, Thou schalt `do no letcherie.
27 Ouvistes que foi dito aos antigos: Não cometerás adultério.
28 But Y seie to you, that euery man that seeth a womman for to coueite hir, hath now do letcherie bi hir in his herte.
28 Eu, porém, vos digo: todo aquele que lançar um olhar de cobiça para uma mulher, já adulterou com ela em seu coração.
29 That if thi riyt iye sclaundre thee, pulle hym out, and caste fro thee; for it spedith to thee, that oon of thi membris perische, than that al thi bodi go in to helle.
29 Se teu olho direito é para ti causa de queda, arranca-o e lança-o longe de ti, porque te é preferível perder-se um só dos teus membros, a que o teu corpo todo seja lançado na geena.
30 And if thi riyt hond sclaundre thee, kitte hym aweye, and caste fro thee; for it spedith to thee that oon of thi membris perische, than that al thi bodi go in to helle.
30 E se tua mão direita é para ti causa de queda, corta-a e lança-a longe de ti, porque te é preferível perder-se um só dos teus membros, a que o teu corpo inteiro seja atirado na geena.
31 And it hath be seyd, Who euere leeueth his wijf, yyue he to hir a libel of forsakyng.
31 Foi também dito: Todo aquele que rejeitar sua mulher, dê-lhe carta de divórcio.
32 But Y seie to you, that euery man that leeueth his wijf, outtakun cause of fornycacioun, makith hir to do letcherie, and he that weddith the forsakun wijf, doith auowtrye.
32 Eu, porém, vos digo: todo aquele que rejeita sua mulher, a faz tornar-se adúltera, a não ser que se trate de matrimônio falso; e todo aquele que desposa uma mulher rejeitada comete um adultério.
33 Eftsoone ye han herd, that it was seid to elde men, Thou schalt not forswere, but thou schalt yelde thin othis to the Lord.
33 Ouvistes ainda o que foi dito aos antigos: Não jurarás falso, mas cumprirás para com o Senhor os teus juramentos.
34 But Y seie to you, that ye swere not `for ony thing; nethir bi heuene, for it is the trone of God;
34 Eu, porém, vos digo: não jureis de modo algum, nem pelo céu, porque é o trono de Deus;
35 nether bi the erthe, for it is the stole of his feet; nether bi Jerusalem, for it is the citee of a greet kyng; nether thou shalt not swere bi thin heed,
35 nem pela terra, porque é o escabelo de seus pés; nem por Jerusalém, porque é a cidade do grande Rei.
36 for thou maist not make oon heere white, ne blacke;
36 Nem jurarás pela tua cabeça, porque não podes fazer um cabelo tornar-se branco ou negro.
37 but be youre word, Yhe, yhe; Nay, nay; and that that is more than these, is of yuel.
37 Dizei somente: Sim, se é sim; não, se é não. Tudo o que passa além disto vem do Maligno.
38 Ye han herd that it hath be seid, Iye for iye, and tothe for tothe.
38 Tendes ouvido o que foi dito: Olho por olho, dente por dente.
39 But Y seie to you, that ye ayenstonde not an yuel man; but if ony smyte thee in the riyt cheke, schewe to him also the tothir;
39 Eu, porém, vos digo: não resistais ao mau. Se alguém te ferir a face direita, oferece-lhe também a outra.
40 and to hym that wole stryue with thee in doom, and take awey thi coote, leeue thou `to him also thi mantil;
40 Se alguém te citar em justiça para tirar-te a túnica, cede-lhe também a capa.
41 and who euer constreyneth thee a thousynde pacis, go thou with hym othir tweyne.
41 Se alguém vem obrigar-te a andar mil passos com ele, anda dois mil.
42 Yyue thou to hym that axith of thee, and turne not awey fro hym that wole borewe of thee.
42 Dá a quem te pede e não te desvies daquele que te quer pedir emprestado.
43 Ye han herd that it was seid, Thou shalt loue thi neiybore, and hate thin enemye.
43 Tendes ouvido o que foi dito: Amarás o teu próximo e poderás odiar teu inimigo.
44 But Y seie to you, loue ye youre enemyes, do ye wel to hem that hatiden you, and preye ye for hem that pursuen, and sclaundren you;
44 Eu, porém, vos digo: amai vossos inimigos, fazei bem aos que vos odeiam, orai pelos que vos {maltratam e} perseguem.
45 that ye be the sones of your fadir that is in heuenes, that makith his sunne to rise vpon goode `and yuele men, and reyneth on iust men and vniuste.
45 Deste modo sereis os filhos de vosso Pai do céu, pois ele faz nascer o sol tanto sobre os maus como sobre os bons, e faz chover sobre os justos e sobre os injustos.
46 For if ye louen hem that louen you, what mede schulen ye han? whether pupplicans doon not this?
46 Se amais somente os que vos amam, que recompensa tereis? Não fazem assim os próprios publicanos?
47 And if ye greten youre britheren oonli, what schulen ye do more? ne doon not hethene men this?
47 Se saudais apenas vossos irmãos, que fazeis de extraordinário? Não fazem isto também os pagãos?
48 Therfore be ye parfit, as youre heuenli fadir is parfit.
48 Portanto, sede perfeitos, assim como vosso Pai celeste é perfeito.
