1 Wo to me, for Y am maad as he that gaderith in heruest rasyns of grapis; there is no clustre for to ete; my soule desiride figis ripe bifore othere.
1 Ai de mim! Porque estou como quando são colhidas as frutas do verão, como os rabiscos da vindima: não há cacho de uvas para chupar, nem figos temporãos que a minha alma deseja.
2 The hooli perischide fro erthe, and riytful is not in men; alle aspien, ether setten tresoun, in blood, a man huntith his brother to deth.
2 Pereceu da terra o piedoso, e não há entre os homens um que seja reto; todos espreitam para derramarem sangue; cada um caça a seu irmão com rede.
3 The yuel of her hondis thei seien good; the prince axith, and the domesman is in yeldyng; and a greet man spak the desir of his soule, and thei sturbliden togidere it.
3 As suas mãos estão sobre o mal e o fazem diligentemente; o príncipe exige condenação, o juiz aceita suborno, o grande fala dos maus desejos de sua alma, e, assim, todos eles juntamente urdem a trama.
4 He that is best in hem, is as a paluyre; and he that is riytful, is as a thorn of hegge. The dai of thi biholdyng, thi visityng cometh, now schal be distriyng of hem.
4 O melhor deles é como um espinheiro; o mais reto é pior do que uma sebe de espinhos. É chegado o dia anunciado por tuas sentinelas, o dia do teu castigo; aí está a confusão deles.
5 Nyle ye bileue to a frend, and nyle ye truste in a duyk; fro hir that slepith in thi bosum, kepe thou closyngis of thi mouth.
5 Não creiais no amigo, nem confieis no companheiro. Guarda a porta de tua boca àquela que reclina sobre o teu peito.
6 For the sone doith wrong to the fadir, and the douyter schal rise ayens hir modir, and the wijf of the sone ayens the modir of hir hosebonde; the enemyes of a man ben the homeli, ether houshold meynee, of hym.
6 Porque o filho despreza o pai, a filha se levanta contra a mãe, a nora, contra a sogra; os inimigos do homem são os da sua própria casa.
7 Forsothe Y schal biholde to the Lord, Y schal abide God my sauyour; the Lord my God schal here me.
7 Eu, porém, olharei para o Senhor e esperarei no Deus da minha salvação; o meu Deus me ouvirá.
8 Thou, myn enemye, be not glad on me, for Y felle doun, Y schal rise; whanne Y sitte in derknessis, the Lord is my liyt.
8 Ó inimiga minha, não te alegres a meu respeito; ainda que eu tenha caído, levantar-me-ei; se morar nas trevas, o Senhor será a minha luz.
9 Y schal bere wraththe of the Lord, for Y haue synned to hym, til he deme my cause, and make my doom; he schal lede out me in to liyt, Y schal se riytwisnesse of hym.
9 Sofrerei a ira do Senhor , porque pequei contra ele, até que julgue a minha causa e execute o meu direito; ele me tirará para a luz, e eu verei a sua justiça.
10 And myn enemye schal biholde me, and sche schal be hilid with confusioun, which seith to me, Where is thi Lord God? Myn iyen schulen se hir, now sche schal be in to defoulyng, as clei of stretis.
10 A minha inimiga verá isso, e a ela cobrirá a vergonha, a ela que me diz: Onde está o Senhor , teu Deus? Os meus olhos a contemplarão; agora, será pisada aos pés como a lama das ruas.
11 Dai schal come, that thi wallis be bildid; in that dai lawe schal be maad afer.
11 No dia da reedificação dos teus muros, nesse dia, serão os teus limites removidos para mais longe.
12 In that dai and Assur schal come til to thee, and `til to stronge citees, and fro stronge citees til to flood; and to see fro see, and to hil fro hil.
12 Nesse dia, virão a ti, desde a Assíria até às cidades do Egito, e do Egito até ao rio Eufrates, e do mar até ao mar, e da montanha até à montanha.
13 And erthe schal be in to desolacioun for her dwelleris, and for fruyt of the thouytis of hem.
13 Todavia, a terra será posta em desolação, por causa dos seus moradores, por causa do fruto das suas obras.
14 Fede thou thi puple in thi yerde, the floc of thin eritage, that dwellen aloone in wielde wode; in the myddil of Carmel thei schulen be fed of Basan and of Galaad,
14 Apascenta o teu povo com o teu bordão, o rebanho da tua herança, que mora a sós no bosque, no meio da terra fértil; apascentem-se em Basã e Gileade, como nos dias de outrora.
15 bi elde daies, bi daies of thi goyng out of the lond of Egipt. Y schal schewe to hym wondurful thingis;
15 Eu lhe mostrarei maravilhas, como nos dias da tua saída da terra do Egito.
16 hethene men schulen se, and thei schulen be confoundid on al her strengthe; thei schulen putte hondis on her mouth, the eris of hem schulen be deef;
16 As nações verão isso e se envergonharão de todo o seu poder; porão a mão sobre a boca, e os seus ouvidos ficarão surdos.
17 thei schulen licke dust as a serpent; as crepynge thingis of erthe thei schulen be disturblid of her housis; thei schulen not desire oure Lord God, and thei schulen drede thee.
17 Lamberão o pó como serpentes; como répteis da terra, tremendo, sairão dos seus esconderijos e, tremendo, virão ao Senhor , nosso Deus; e terão medo de ti.
18 God, who is lijk thee, that doist awei wickidnesse, and berist ouer the synne of relifs of thin eritage? He shal no more sende in his stronge veniaunce, for he is willynge merci; he schal turne ayen,
18 Quem, ó Deus, é semelhante a ti, que perdoas a iniquidade e te esqueces da transgressão do restante da tua herança? O Senhor não retém a sua ira para sempre, porque tem prazer na misericórdia.
19 and haue merci on vs. He schal put doun oure wickidnessis, and schal caste fer in to depnesse of the see alle oure synnes.
19 Tornará a ter compaixão de nós; pisará aos pés as nossas iniquidades e lançará todos os nossos pecados nas profundezas do mar.
20 Thou schalt yyue treuthe to Jacob, merci to Abraham, whiche thou sworist to oure fadris fro elde daies.
20 Mostrarás a Jacó a fidelidade e a Abraão, a misericórdia, as quais juraste a nossos pais, desde os dias antigos.
