1 And it was don in oon of the daies, whanne he tauyte the puple in the temple, and prechide the gospel, the princis of preestis and scribis camen togidere with the elder men;
1 Num desses dias, quando Jesus ensinava o povo no templo, e anunciava o evangelho, sobrevieram os principais sacerdotes e os escribas, com os anciãos.
2 and thei seiden to hym, Seie to vs, in what power thou doist these thingis, or who is he that yaf to thee this power?
2 e falaram-lhe deste modo: Dize-nos, com que autoridade fazes tu estas coisas? Ou, quem é o que te deu esta autoridade?
3 And Jhesus answeride, and seide to hem, And Y schal axe you o word; answere ye to me.
3 Respondeu-lhes ele: Eu também vos farei uma pergunta; dizei-me, pois:
4 Was the baptym of Joon of heuene, or of men?
4 O batismo de João era do céu ou dos homens?
5 And thei thouyten with ynne hem silf, seiynge, For if we seien, Of heuene, he schal seie, Whi thanne bileuen ye not to hym?
5 Ao que eles arrazoavam entre si: Se dissermos: do céu, ele dirá: Por que não crestes?
6 and if we seien, Of men, al the puple schal stoone vs; for thei ben certeyn, that Joon is a prophete.
6 Mas, se dissermos: Dos homens, todo o povo nos apedrejará; pois está convencido de que João era profeta.
7 And thei answeriden, that thei knewen not, of whennus it was.
7 Responderam, pois, que não sabiam donde era.
8 And Jhesus seide to hem, Nether Y seie to you, in what power Y do these thingis.
8 Replicou-lhes Jesus: Nem eu vos digo com que autoridade faço estas coisas.
9 And he bigan to seie to the puple this parable. A man plauntide a vynyerd, and hiride it to tilieris; and he was in pilgrimage longe tyme.
9 Começou então a dizer ao povo esta parábola: Um homem plantou uma vinha, arrendou-a a uns lavradores, e ausentou-se do país por muito tempo.
10 And in the tyme of gaderynge of grapis, he sente a seruaunt to the tilieris, that thei schulden yyue to hym of the fruyt of the vynyerd; whiche beten hym, and leten hym go voide.
10 No tempo próprio mandou um servo aos lavradores, para que lhe dessem dos frutos da vinha; mas os lavradores, espancando-o, mandaram-no embora de mãos vazias.
11 And he thouyte yit to sende another seruaunt; and thei beten this, and turmentiden hym sore, and leten hym go.
11 Tornou a mandar outro servo; mas eles espancaram também a este e, afrontando-o, mandaram-no embora de mãos vazias.
12 And he thouyte yit to sende the thridde, and hym also thei woundiden, and castiden out.
12 E mandou ainda um terceiro; mas feriram também a este e lançaram-no fora.
13 And the lord of the vyneyerd seide, What schal Y do? Y schal sende my dereworthe sone; perauenture, whanne thei seen hym, thei schulen drede.
13 Disse então o senhor da vinha: Que farei? Mandarei o meu filho amado; a ele talvez respeitarão.
14 And whanne the tilieris sayn hym, thei thouyten with ynne hem silf, and seiden, This is the eire, sle we hym, that the eritage be oure.
14 Mas quando os lavradores o viram, arrazoaram entre si, dizendo: Este é o herdeiro; matemo-lo, para que a herança seja nossa.
15 And thei castiden hym out of the vyneyerd, and killiden hym. What schal thanne the lord of the vyneyerd do to hem?
15 E lançando-o fora da vinha, o mataram. Que lhes fará, pois, o senhor da vinha?
16 He schal come, and distruye these tilieris, and yyue the vyneyerd to othere. And whanne this thing was herd, thei seiden to hym, God forbede.
16 Virá e destruirá esses lavradores, e dará a vinha a outros. Ouvindo eles isso, disseram: Tal não aconteça!
17 But he bihelde hem, and seide, What thanne is this that is writun, The stoon which men bildynge repreueden, this is maad in to the heed of the corner?
17 Mas Jesus, olhando para eles, disse: Pois, que quer dizer isto que está escrito: A pedra que os edificadores rejeitaram, essa foi posta como pedra angular?
18 Ech that schal falle on that stoon, schal be to-brisid, but on whom it schal falle, it schal al to-breke him.
18 Todo o que cair sobre esta pedra será despedaçado; mas aquele sobre quem ela cair será reduzido a pó.
19 And the princis of prestis, and scribis, souyten to leye on hym hoondis in that our, and thei dredden the puple; for thei knewen that to hem he seide this liknesse.
19 Ainda na mesma hora os escribas e os principais sacerdotes, percebendo que contra eles proferira essa parábola, procuraram deitar-lhe as mãos, mas temeram o povo.
20 And thei aspieden, and senten aspieris, that feyneden hem iust, that thei schulden take hym in word, and bitaak hym to the `power of the prince, and to the power of the iustice.
20 E, aguardando oportunidade, mandaram espias, os quais se fingiam justos, para o apanharem em alguma palavra, e o entregarem à jurisdição e à autoridade do governador.
21 And thei axiden hym, and seiden, Maister, we witen, that riytli thou seist and techist; and thou takist not the persoone of man, but thou techist in treuthe the weie of God.
21 Estes, pois, o interrogaram, dizendo: Mestre, sabemos que falas e ensinas retamente, e que não consideras a aparência da pessoa, mas ensinas segundo a verdade o caminho de Deus;
22 Is it leueful to vs to yyue tribute to the emperoure, or nay?
22 é-nos lícito dar tributo a César, ou não?
23 And he biheld the disseit of hem, and seide to hem, What tempten ye me?
23 Mas Jesus, percebendo a astúcia deles, disse-lhes:
24 Shewe ye to me a peny; whos ymage and superscripcioun hath it? Thei answerden, and seiden to hym, The emperouris.
24 Mostrai-me um denário. De quem é a imagem e a inscrição que ele tem? Responderam: De César.
25 And he seide to hem, Yelde ye therfor to the emperoure tho thingis that ben the emperours, and tho thingis that ben of God, to God.
25 Disse-lhes então: Dai, pois, a César o que é de César, e a Deus o que é de Deus.
26 And thei myyten not repreue his word bifor the puple; and thei wondriden in his answere, and heelden pees.
26 E não puderam apanhá-lo em palavra alguma diante do povo; e admirados da sua resposta, calaram-se.
27 Summe of the Saduceis, that denyeden the ayenrisyng fro deeth to lijf, camen, and axiden hym,
27 Chegaram então alguns dos saduceus, que dizem não haver ressurreição, e perguntaram-lhe:
28 and seiden, Maister, Moises wroot to vs, if the brother of ony man haue a wijf, and be deed, and he was with outen eiris, that his brothir take his wijf, and reise seed to his brother.
28 Mestre, Moisés nos deixou escrito que se morrer alguém, tendo mulher mas não tendo filhos, o irmão dele case com a viúva, e suscite descendência ao irmão.
29 And so there weren seuene britheren. The firste took a wijf, and is deed with outen eiris;
29 Havia, pois, sete irmãos. O primeiro casou-se e morreu sem filhos;
30 and the brothir suynge took hir, and he is deed with outen sone;
30 então o segundo, e depois o terceiro, casaram com a viúva;
31 and the thridde took hir; also and alle seuene, and leften not seed, but ben deed;
31 e assim todos os sete, e morreram, sem deixar filhos.
32 and the laste of alle the womman is deed.
32 Depois morreu também a mulher.
33 Therfor in the `risyng ayen, whos wijf of hem schal sche be? for seuene hadden hir to wijf.
33 Portanto, na ressurreição, de qual deles será ela esposa, pois os sete por esposa a tiveram?
34 And Jhesus seide to hem, Sones of this world wedden, and ben youun to weddyngis;
34 Respondeu-lhes Jesus: Os filhos deste mundo casaram-se e dão-se em casamento;
35 but thei that schulen be had worthi of that world, and of the `risyng ayen fro deeth, nethir ben wedded,
35 mas os que são julgados dignos de alcançar o mundo vindouro, e a ressurreição dentre os mortos, nem se casam nem se dão em casamento;
36 nethir wedden wyues, nethir schulen mowe die more; for thei ben euen with aungels, and ben the sones of God, sithen thei ben the sones of `risyng ayen fro deeth.
36 porque já não podem mais morrer; pois são iguais aos anjos, e são filhos de Deus, sendo filhos da ressurreição.
37 And that deed men risen ayen, also Moises schewide bisidis the busch, as he seith, The Lord God of Abraham, and God of Ysaac, and God of Jacob.
37 Mas que os mortos hão de ressurgir, o próprio Moisés o mostrou, na passagem a respeito da sarça, quando chama ao Senhor; Deus de Abraão, e Deus de Isaque, e Deus de Jacó.
38 And God is not of deed men, but of lyuynge men; for alle men lyuen to hym.
38 Ora, ele não é Deus de mortos, mas de vivos; porque para ele todos vivem.
39 And summe of scribis answeringe, seiden, Maistir, thou hast wel seid.
39 Responderam alguns dos escribas: Mestre, disseste bem.
40 And thei dursten no more axe hym ony thing.
40 Não ousavam, pois, perguntar-lhe mais coisa alguma.
41 But he seide to hem, How seien men, Crist to be the sone of Dauid,
41 Jesus, porém, lhes perguntou: Como dizem que o Cristo é filho de Davi?
42 and Dauid hym silf seith in the book of Salmes, The Lord seide to my lord, Sitte thou on my riythalf,
42 Pois o próprio Davi diz no livro dos Salmos: Disse o Senhor ao meu Senhor: Assenta-te à minha direita,
43 til that Y putte thin enemyes a stool of thi feet?
43 até que eu ponha os teus inimigos por escabelo dos teus pés.
44 Therfor Dauid clepith hym lord, and hou is he his sone?
44 Logo Davi lhe chama Senhor como, pois, é ele seu filho?
45 And in heryng of al the puple, he seide to hise disciplis,
45 Enquanto todo o povo o ouvia, disse Jesus aos seus discípulos:
46 Be ye war of scribis, that wolen wandre in stolis, and louen salutaciouns in chepyng, and the firste chaieris in synagogis, and the firste sittynge placis in feestis;
46 Guardai-vos dos escribas, que querem andar com vestes compridas, e gostam das saudações nas praças, dos primeiros assentos nas sinagogas, e dos primeiros lugares nos banquetes;
47 that deuouren the housis of widewis, and feynen long preiyng; these schulen take the more dampnacioun.
47 que devoram as casas das viúvas, fazendo, por pretexto, longas orações; estes hão de receber maior condenação.
