1 And the word of the Lord was maad to me,
1 Veio a mim a palavra do Senhor, dizendo:
2 and seide, Go thou, and crye in the eeris of Jerusalem, and seie, The Lord seith these thingis, Y hadde mynde on thee, and Y hadde merci on thee in thi yong wexynge age, and on the charite of thi spousyng, whanne thou suedist me in desert, in the lond which is not sowun.
2 Vai, e clama aos ouvidos de Jerusalém, dizendo: Assim diz o Senhor: Lembro-me, a favor de ti, da devoção da tua mocidade, do amor dos teus desposórios, de como me seguiste no deserto, numa terra não semeada.
3 Israel was hooli to the Lord, the firste of fruytis of hym; alle men that deuouren that Israel, trespassen; yuelis schulen come on hem, seith the Lord.
3 Então Israel era santo para o Senhor, primícias da sua novidade; todos os que o devoravam eram tidos por culpados; o mal vinha sobre eles, diz o Senhor.
4 The hous of Jacob, and alle the lynagis of the hous of Israel, here ye the word of the Lord.
4 Ouvi a palavra do Senhor, ó casa de Jacó, e todas as famílias da casa de Israel;
5 The Lord seith these thingis, What of wickidnesse foundun youre fadris in me, for thei yeden fer awey fro me, and yeden after vanyte, and weren maad veyn?
5 assim diz o Senhor: Que injustiça acharam em mim vossos pais, para se afastarem de mim, indo após a vaidade, e tornando-se levianos?
6 And thei seiden not, Where is the Lord, that made vs to stie fro the lond of Egipt, that ledde vs ouer thorou desert, bi the lond vnabitable and with out weie, bi the lond of thirst, and bi the ymage of deeth, bi the lond in whiche a man yede not, nether a man dwellide.
6 Eles não perguntaram: Onde está o Senhor, que nos fez subir da terra do Egito? que nos enviou através do deserto, por uma terra de charnecas e de covas, por uma terra de sequidão e densas trevas, por uma terra em que ninguém transitava, nem morava?
7 And Y brouyte you in to the lond of Carmele, that ye schulden ete the fruyt therof, and the goodis therof; and ye entriden, and defouliden my lond, and settiden myn eritage in to abhomynacioun.
7 E eu vos introduzi numa terra fértil, para comerdes o seu fruto e o seu bem; mas quando nela entrastes, contaminastes a minha terra, e da minha herança fizestes uma abominação.
8 Preestis seiden not, Where is the Lord? and thei that helden the lawe, knewen not me; and scheepherdis trespassiden ayens me, and profetis profesieden in Baal, and sueden idols.
8 Os sacerdotes não disseram: Onde está o Senhor? E os que tratavam da lei não me conheceram, e os governadores prevaricaram contra mim, e os profetas profetizaram por Baal, e andaram após o que é de nenhum proveito.
9 Therfor yit Y schal stryue with you in doom, seith the Lord, and Y schal dispute with youre sones.
9 Portanto ainda contenderei convosco, diz o Senhor; e até com os filhos de vossos filhos contenderei.
10 Go ye to the ilis of Cethym, and se ye; and sende ye in to Cedar, and biholde ye greetli; and se ye,
10 Pois passai às ilhas de Quitim, e vede; enviai a Quedar, e atentai bem; vede se jamais sucedeu coisa semelhante.
11 if siche a thing is doon, if a folk chaungide hise goddis; and certeynli thei ben no goddis; but my puple chaungide hise glorie in to an ydol.
11 Acaso trocou alguma nação os seus deuses, que contudo não são deuses? Mas o meu povo trocou a sua glória por aquilo que é de nenhum proveito.
12 Heuenes, be ye astonyed on this thing, and, ye yatis of heuene, be ye desolat greetli, seith the Lord.
12 Espantai-vos disto, ó céus, e horrorizai-vos! ficai verdadeiramente desolados, diz o Senhor.
13 For whi my puple hath don tweyne yuels; thei han forsake me, the welle of quyke watir, and han diggid to hem cisternes, `that weren distried, that moun not holde watris.
13 Porque o meu povo fez duas maldades: a mim me deixaram, o manancial de águas vivas, e cavaram para si cisternas, cisternas rotas, que não retêm as águas.
14 Whether Israel is a boond man, ether is borun boonde?
14 Acaso é Israel um servo? E ele um escravo nascido em casa? Por que, pois, veio a ser presa?
15 Whi therfor is he maad in to prey? Liouns roriden on hym, and yauen her vois; thei han set the londe of hym in to wildernesse, the citees of him ben brent, and noon is that dwellith in tho.
15 Os leões novos rugiram sobre ele, e levantaram a sua voz; e fizeram da terra dele uma desolação; as suas cidades se queimaram, e ninguém habita nelas.
16 Also the sones of Menfis and of Tafnys han defoulid thee, `til to the cop of the heed.
16 Até os filhos de Mênfis e de Tapanes te quebraram o alto da cabeça.
17 Whether this is not don to thee, for thou forsokist thi Lord God, in that tyme in which he ledde thee bi the weie?
17 Porventura não trouxeste isso sobre ti mesmo, deixando o Senhor teu Deus no tempo em que ele te guiava pelo caminho?
18 And now what wolt thou to thee in the weie of Egipt, that thou drynke troblid watir? And what is to thee with the weie of Assiriens, that thou drynke water of the flood?
18 Agora, pois, que te importa a ti o caminho do Egito, para beberes as águas do Nilo? e que te importa a ti o caminho da Assíria, para beberes as águas do Eufrates?
19 Thi malice schal repreue thee, and thi turnyng awei schal blame thee; wite thou and se, that it is yuel and bittir that thou hast forsake thi Lord God, and that his drede is not at thee, seith the Lord God of oostis.
19 A tua malícia te castigará, e as tuas apostasias te repreenderão; sabe, pois, e vê, que má e amarga coisa é o teres deixado o Senhor teu Deus, e o não haver em ti o temor de mim, diz o Senhor Deus dos exércitos.
20 Fro the world thou hast broke my yok, thou hast broke my bondis, and seidist, Y schal not serue. For thou hoore didist hordom in ech hiy litil hil, and vndur ech tree ful of bowis.
20 Já há muito quebraste o teu jugo, e rompeste as tuas ataduras, e disseste: Não servirei: Pois em todo outeiro alto e debaixo de toda árvore frondosa te deitaste, fazendo-te prostituta.
21 Forsothe Y plauntide thee a chosun vyner, al trewe seed; hou therfor art thou, alien vyner, turned to me in to a schrewid thing?
21 Todavia eu mesmo te plantei como vide excelente, uma semente inteiramente fiel; como, pois, te tornaste para mim uma planta degenerada, de vida estranha?
22 Thouy thou waischist thee with fulleris clei, and multypliest to thee the erbe borith, thou art defoulid in thi wickidnesse bifore me, seith the Lord God.
22 Pelo que, ainda que te laves com salitre, e uses muito sabão, a mancha da tua iniqüidade está diante de mim, diz o Senhor Deus.
23 Hou seist thou, Y am not defoulid, Y yede not aftir Baalym? Se thi weies in the greet valei, wite thou what thou hast do; a swifte rennere ordeynynge hise weies.
23 Como dizes logo: Não estou contaminada nem andei após Baal? Vê o teu caminho no vale, conhece o que fizeste; dromedária ligeira és, que anda torcendo os seus caminhos;
24 A wielde asse customable in wildirnesse drow the wynd of his loue in the desire of his soule; no man schal turne awei it. Alle that seken it, schulen not faile; thei schulen fynde it in the flux of vncleene blood therof.
24 asna selvagem acostumada ao deserto e que no ardor do cio sorve o vento; quem lhe pode impedir o desejo? Dos que a buscarem, nenhum precisa cansar-se; pois no mês dela, achá-la-ão.
25 Forbede thi foot fro nakidnesse, and thi throte fro thirst; and thou seidist, Y dispeiride, Y schal not do; for Y louede brennyngli alien goddis, and Y schal go aftir hem.
25 Evita que o teu pé ande descalço, e que a tua garganta tenha sede. Mas tu dizes: Não há esperança; porque tenho amado os estranhos, e após eles andarei.
26 As a theef is schent, whanne he is takun, so the hous of Israel ben schent; thei, and kyngis of hem, the princes, and prestis, and the prophetis of hem,
26 Como fica confundido o ladrão quando o apanham, assim se confundem os da casa de Israel; eles, os seus reis, os seus príncipes, e os seus sacerdotes, e os seus profetas,
27 that seien to a tree, Thou art my fadir; and to a stoon, Thou hast gendrid me. Thei turneden to me the bak, and not the face; and in the tyme of her turment thei schulen seie, Ryse thou, and delyuere vs.
27 que dizem ao pau: Tu és meu pai; e à pedra: Tu me geraste. Porque me viraram as costas, e não o rosto; mas no tempo do seu aperto dir-me-ão: Levanta-te, e salvamos.
28 Where ben thi goddis, whiche thou madist to thee? Rise thei, and delyuere thee in the tyme of thi turment; for aftir the noumbre of thi citees weren thi goddis, thou Juda.
28 Mas onde estão os teus deuses que fizeste para ti? Que se levantem eles, se te podem livrar no tempo da tua tribulação; porque os teus deuses, ó Judá, são tão numerosos como as tuas cidades.
29 What wolen ye stryue with me in doom? Alle ye han forsake me, seith the Lord.
29 Por que disputais comigo? Todos vós transgredistes contra mim diz o Senhor.
30 In veyn Y smoot youre sones, thei resseyueden not chastisyng; youre swerd deuouride youre prophetis, youre generacioun is distried as a lioun.
30 Em vão castiguei os vossos filhos; eles não aceitaram a correção; a vossa espada devorou os vossos profetas como um leão destruidor.
31 Se ye the word of the Lord, whether Y am maad a wildirnesse to Israel, ether a lond late bryngynge forth fruyt? Whi therfor seide my puple, We han go awei, we schulen no more come to thee?
31 Ó geração, considerai vós a palavra do Senhor: Porventura tenho eu sido para Israel um deserto? ou uma terra de espessa escuridão? Por que pois diz o meu povo: Andamos à vontade; não tornaremos mais a ti?
32 Whethir a virgyn schal foryete hir ournement? and a spousesse `schal foryete hir brest girdil? But mi puple hath foryete me bi daies with out noumbre.
32 Porventura esquece-se a virgem dos seus enfeites, ou a esposa dos seus cendais? todavia o meu povo se esqueceu de mim por inumeráveis dias.
33 What enforsist thou to schewe thi weie good to seke loue, which ferthermore bothe hast tauyt thi malices thi weies,
33 Como ornamentas o teu caminho, para buscares o amor! de sorte que até às malignas ensinaste os teus caminhos.
34 and the blood of pore men and innocentis is foundun in thi wyngis? Y fond not hem in dichis, but in alle thingis whiche Y remembride bifore.
34 Até nas orlas dos teus vestidos se achou o sangue dos pobres inocentes; e não foi no lugar do arrombamento que os achaste; mas apesar de todas estas coisas,
35 And thou seidist, Y am with out synne and innocent; and therfor thi stronge veniaunce be turned awei fro me. Lo! Y schal stryue with thee in doom; for thou seidist, Y synnede not.
35 ainda dizes: Eu sou inocente; certamente a sua ira se desviou de mim. Eis que entrarei em juízo contigo, porquanto dizes: Não pequei.
36 Hou vijl art thou maad, rehersynge thi weies? and thou schalt be schent of Egipt, as thou were schent of Assur.
36 Por que te desvias tanto, mudando o teu caminho? Também pelo Egito serás envergonhada, como já foste envergonhada pela Assíria.
37 For whi and thou schalt go out of this lond, and thin hondis schulen be on thin heed; for whi the Lord hath al to-broke thi trist, and thou schalt haue no thing to prosperite.
37 Também daquele sairás com as mães sobre a tua cabeça; porque o Senhor rejeitou as tuas confianças, e não prosperarás com elas.
