1 The Lord seith these thingis to me, Go, and take in possessioun to thee a lynnun breigirdil; and thou schalt putte it on thi leendis, and thou schalt not bere it in to watir.
1 Disse-me o Senhor: Vai e compra um cinto de linho e coloca-o sobre os rins, sem contudo mergulhá-lo na água.
2 And Y took in possessioun a breigirdil, bi the word of the Lord; and Y puttide aboute my leendis.
2 Comprei-o, conforme ordenara o Senhor, e com ele me cingi.
3 And the word of the Lord was maad to me in the secounde tyme,
3 Pela segunda vez, assim me falou o Senhor:
4 and seide, Take the brigirdil, which thou haddist in possessioun, which is aboute thi leendis; and rise thou, and go to Eufrates, and hide thou it there, in the hoole of a stoon.
4 Toma o cinto que compraste e que trazes contigo e encaminha-te para as margens do Eufrates. Lá ocultarás esse cinto na cavidade de um rochedo.
5 And Y yede, and hidde it in Eufrates, as the Lord comaundide to me.
5 Fui assim escondê-lo, junto do Eufrates, como me havia dito o Senhor.
6 And it was don aftir ful many daies, the Lord seide to me, Rise thou, and go to Eufrates, and take fro thennus the brigirdil, whiche Y comaundide to thee, that thou schuldist hide it there.
6 Tempos depois, voltou o Senhor a dizer-me: Põe-te a caminho em demanda das margens do Eufrates, a fim de buscar o cinto que, conforme minhas ordens, lá escondeste.
7 And Y yede to Eufrates, and diggide out, and Y took the breigirdil fro the place, where Y hadde hidde it; and lo! the breigirdil was rotun, so that it was not able to ony vss.
7 Dirigi-me, então, ao rio e, tendo cavado, retirei o cinto do local onde o escondera. O cinto, porém, apodrecera, e para nada mais servia.
8 And the word of the Lord was maad to me,
8 Então, nestes termos, foi-me dirigida a palavra do Senhor:
9 and seide, The Lord seith these thingis, So Y schal make rotun the pride of Juda, and the myche pride of Jerusalem,
9 Eis o que diz o Senhor: assim também destruirei a soberba de Judá, e o orgulho imenso de Jerusalém.
10 and this worste puple, that nylen here my wordis, and goen in the schrewidnesse of her herte; and thei yeden aftir alien goddis, to serue hem, and to worschipe hem; and thei schulen be as this breigirdil, which is not able to ony vss.
10 Esse povo perverso que recusa executar-me as ordens, que segue os pendores do coração empedernido, que corre aos deuses estranhos para render-lhes homenagens e prostrar-se ante eles, tornar-se-á semelhante a esse cinto sem mais serventia alguma.
11 For as a breigirdil cleueth to the leendis of a man, so Y ioynede faste to me al the hous of Israel, and al the hous of Juda, seith the Lord, that thei schulden be to me in to a puple, and in to name, and in to heriyng, and in to glorie; and thei herden not.
11 À semelhança de um cinto que se prende aos rins de um homem, assim uni a mim toda a casa de Israel e toda a casa de Judá - oráculo do Senhor -, a fim de que constituíssem meu povo, minha honra, glória e ufania. Elas, porém, não obedeceram.
12 Therfor thou schalt seie to hem this word, The Lord God of Israel seith these thingis, Ech potel schal be fillid of wyn. And thei schulen seie to thee, Whether we witen not, that ech potel schal be fillid of wyn?
12 Vai, portanto, e assim lhes fala: Eis o que diz o Senhor, Deus de Israel: uma vasilha é destinada a ser enchida de vinho. Responderão eles: bem sabíamos que toda vasilha é para ser enchida de vinho!
13 And thou schalt seie to hem, The Lord seith these thingis, Lo! Y shal fille with drunkenesse alle the dwelleris of this lond, and the kyngis of the generacioun of Dauith, that sitten on his trone, and the prestis, and profetis, and alle the dwelleris of Jerusalem.
13 Mas tu lhes dirás: Eis o que diz o Senhor: vou encher de embriaguez todos os habitantes desta terra: os reis que ocupam o trono de Davi, os sacerdotes, os profetas e a população inteira de Jerusalém;
14 And Y schal scatere hem, a man fro his brother, and the fadris and sones togidere, seith the Lord; Y schal not spare, and Y schal not graunte, nether Y schal do mercy, that I leese not hem.
14 e vou quebrá-los, uns contra os outros, pais e filhos - oráculo do Senhor -, sem que compaixão, piedade ou perdão me impeçam de destruí-los.
15 Here ye, and perseyue with eeris; nyle ye be reisid, for the Lord spak.
15 Escutai, prestai ouvidos e não vos enchais de orgulho, pois quem fala é o Senhor.
16 Yyue ye glorie to youre Lord God, bifore that it wexe derk, and bifor that youre feet hirte at derk hillis; ye schulen abide liyt, and he schal sette it in to the schadewe of deeth, and in to derknesse.
16 Rendei glória ao Senhor, vosso Deus, antes que surjam as trevas, e antes que se choquem vossos pés nos montes invadidos pelas sombras. A luz que esperais será transformada em escuridão, pois que ele a converterá em noite profunda.
17 That if ye heren not this, my soule schal wepe in hid place for the face of pride; it wepynge schal wepe, and myn iye shal caste out a teer, for the floc of the Lord is takun.
17 Se não prestardes ouvidos, a minha alma derramará lágrimas em segredo por vosso orgulho, e meus olhos se fundirão em pranto, por causa da deportação do rebanho do Senhor.
18 Seye thou to the kyng, and to the ladi, Be ye mekid, sitte ye, for the coroun of youre glorie schal go doun fro youre heed.
18 Dize ao rei e à rainha: sentai-vos no chão, porque caiu de vossa cabeça o diadema que a ornava.
19 The cities of the south ben closid, and noon is that openith; al Juda is translatid bi perfit passyng ouere, ether goynge out of her lond.
19 As cidades do sul estão fechadas, e não há quem as abra. Judá foi arrebatada; completou-se a deportação.
20 Reise ye youre iyen, and se ye, what men comen fro the north; where is the floc which is youun to thee, thi noble scheep?
20 Ergue os olhos; vê os que chegam do norte. Onde está o rebanho que te fora confiado, onde os carneiros que constituíam tua glória?
21 What schalt thou seie, whanne he schal visite thee? for thou hast tauyt hem ayens thee, and thou hast tauyt ayens thin heed. Whether sorewis han not take thee, as a womman trauelynge of child?
21 Que dirás, quando Deus te der por senhores aqueles que exercitaste contra ti? E acaso não se apossarão de ti dores quais as da mulher que está de parto?
22 That if thou seist in thin herte, Whi camen these thingis to me? for the multitude of thi wickidnesse thi schamefulere thingis ben schewid, thi feet ben defoulid.
22 Se vieres a dizer em teu coração: Por que me acontecem tais coisas? É por causa da enormidade de tua falta que foram levantadas as tuas vestes e puseram brutalmente teu calcanhar a nu.
23 If a man of Ethiopie mai chaunge his skyn, ether a pard mai chaunge hise dyuersitees, and ye moun do wel, whanne ye han lerned yuel.
23 Pode um etíope mudar a própria pele? Ou um leopardo apagar as malhas de que se reveste? E vós, como podereis praticar o bem, se estais impregnados de maldade?
24 And Y schal sowe hem abrood, as stobil which is rauyschid of the wynd in desert.
24 Eu os dispersarei como palha que o vento do deserto arrebata.
25 This is thi lot, and the part of thi mesure of me, seith the Lord; for thou foryetidist me, and tristidist in a leesyng.
25 Tal é teu destino, a partilha que receberás de mim - oráculo do Senhor -, porque te esqueceste de mim, confiando no que é apenas mentira.
26 Wherfor and Y made nakid thin hipis ayens thi face, and thi schenschipe apperide,
26 Até a cabeça erguerei tuas vestes a fim de expor aos olhares tua nudez!
27 thin auowtries, and thin neyyng, and the felonye of thi fornycacioun on litle hillis in the feeld; Y siy thin abhomynaciouns. Jerusalem, wo to thee, thou schalt not be clensid after me til yit.
27 Teus adultérios e desregramentos, e tua luxúria infame nas colinas e nos campos, todas essas abominações, eu as vi. Desgraçadas de ti, Jerusalém! Por quanto tempo, ainda, permanecerás impura?
