1 Aftir these thingis Jhesus walkide in to Galilee, for he wolde not walke in to Judee, for the Jewis souyten to sle hym.
1 Depois disso, Jesus viajou pela Galileia. Queria ficar longe da Judeia, onde os líderes judeus planejavam sua morte.
2 And ther was neiy a feeste dai of the Jewis, Senofegia.
2 Logo, porém, chegou o tempo da celebração judaica chamada Festa das Cabanas,
3 And hise britheren seiden to hym, Passe fro hennus, and go in to Judee, that also thi disciplis seen thi werkis that thou doist;
3 e os irmãos de Jesus lhe disseram: “Saia daqui e vá à Judeia, onde seus seguidores poderão ver os milagres que realiza.
4 for no man doith ony thing in hiddlis, and hym silf sekith to be opyn. If thou doist these thingis, schewe thi silf to the world.
4 Você não se tornará famoso escondendo-se dessa forma. Se você pode fazer coisas tão maravilhosas, mostre-se ao mundo!”.
5 For nether hise britheren bileueden in hym.
5 Pois nem mesmo seus irmãos criam nele.
6 Therfor Jhesus seith to hem, My tyme cam not yit, but youre tyme is euermore redi.
6 Jesus respondeu: “Agora não é o momento certo de eu ir, mas vocês podem ir a qualquer hora.
7 The world may not hate you, sothely it hatith me; for Y bere witnessyng therof, that the werkis of it ben yuele.
7 O mundo não pode odiá-los, mas a mim ele odeia, pois eu o acuso de fazer o mal.
8 Go ye vp to this feeste dai, but Y schal not go vp to this feeste dai, for my tyme is not yit fulfillid.
8 Vão vocês. Eu ainda não irei a essa festa, pois meu tempo ainda não chegou”.
9 Whanne he hadde seid these thingis, he dwelte in Galilee.
9 Tendo dito isso, permaneceu na Galileia.
10 And aftir that hise britheren weren gon vp, thanne he yede vp to the feeste dai, not opynli, but as in priuyte.
10 Contudo, depois que seus irmãos partiram para a festa, ele também foi, mas em segredo, permanecendo distante dos olhos do público.
11 Therfor the Jewis souyten hym in the feeste dai, and seiden, Where is he?
11 Os líderes judeus tentavam encontrá-lo na festa e perguntavam se alguém o tinha visto.
12 And myche grutchyng was of hym among the puple. For summe seiden, That he is good; and othere seiden, Nai, but he disceyueth the puple;
12 Havia muita discussão a seu respeito entre as multidões. Alguns afirmavam: “Ele é um homem bom”, enquanto outros diziam: “Ele não passa de um impostor, que engana o povo”.
13 netheles no man spak opynli of hym, for drede of the Jewis.
13 Mas ninguém tinha coragem de falar sobre ele em público, por medo dos líderes judeus.
14 But whanne the myddil feeste dai cam, Jhesus wente vp in to the temple, and tauyte.
14 Então, na metade da festa, Jesus subiu ao templo e começou a ensinar.
15 And the Jewis wondriden, and seiden, Hou can this man lettris, sithen he hath not lerned?
15 Os judeus que estavam ali ficaram admirados ao ouvi-lo. “Como ele sabe tanto sem ter estudado?”, perguntavam.
16 Jhesus answerde to hem, and seide, My doctryne is not myn, but his that sente me.
16 Jesus lhes respondeu: “Minha mensagem não vem de mim mesmo; vem daquele que me enviou.
17 If ony man wole do his wille, he schal knowe of the techyng, whethir it be of God, or Y speke of my silf.
17 Quem quiser fazer a vontade de Deus saberá se meu ensino vem dele ou se falo por mim mesmo.
18 He that spekith of hym silf, sekith his owne glorie; but he that sekith the glorie of hym that sente hym, is sothefast, and vnriytwisnesse is not in hym.
18 Aquele que fala por si mesmo busca sua própria glória, mas quem procura honrar aquele que o enviou diz a verdade, e não mentiras.
19 Whether Moises yaf not to you a lawe, and noon of you doith the lawe?
19 Moisés lhes deu a lei, mas nenhum de vocês obedece a ela. Então por que procuram me matar?”.
20 What seken ye to sle me? And the puple answerde, and seide, Thou hast a deuel; who sekith to sle thee?
20 A multidão respondeu: “Você está possuído por demônio! Quem procura matá-lo?”.
21 Jhesus answerde, and seide to hem, Y haue don o werk, and alle ye wondren.
21 Jesus respondeu: “Eu fiz um milagre no sábado, e vocês ficaram admirados.
22 Therfor Moises yaf to you circumcisioun; not for it is of Moyses, but of the fadris; and in the sabat ye circumciden a man.
22 No entanto, vocês também trabalham no sábado quando obedecem à lei da circuncisão que Moisés lhes deu, embora, na verdade, a circuncisão tenha começado com os patriarcas, muito antes da lei de Moisés.
23 If a man take circumcicioun in the sabat, that the lawe of Moises be not brokun, han ye indignacioun to me, for Y made al a man hool in the sabat?
23 Pois, se o tempo certo de circuncidar seu filho cai no sábado, vocês realizam a cerimônia, a fim de não quebrar a lei de Moisés. Então por que ficam indignados comigo pelo fato de eu curar um homem no sábado?
24 Nile ye deme aftir the face, but deme ye a riytful doom.
24 Não julguem de acordo com as aparências, mas julguem de maneira justa”.
25 Therfor summe of Jerusalem seiden, Whethir this is not he, whom the Jewis seken to sle?
25 Alguns do povo, que moravam em Jerusalém, começaram a perguntar uns aos outros: “Não é este o homem a quem procuram matar?
26 and lo! he spekith opynli, and thei seien no thing to hym. Whether the princes knewen verili, that this is Crist?
26 Aqui está ele, porém, falando em público, e não lhe dizem coisa alguma. Será que nossos líderes acreditam que ele é o Cristo?
27 But we knowun this man, of whennus he is; but whanne Crist schal come, no man woot of whennus he is.
27 Mas como pode ser este homem? Sabemos de onde ele vem. Quando o Cristo vier, ninguém saberá de onde ele é”.
28 Therfor Jhesus criede in the temple `techynge, and seide, Ye knowen me, and `ye knowen of whennus Y am; and Y cam not of my silf, but he is trewe that sente me, whom ye knowen not.
28 Enquanto ensinava no templo, Jesus disse em alta voz: “Sim, vocês me conhecem e sabem de onde eu venho. Mas não estou aqui por minha própria conta. Aquele que me enviou é verdadeiro, e vocês não o conhecem.
29 Y knowe hym, and if Y seie that Y knowe hym not, Y schal be lijk to you, a liere; but Y knowe hym, for of hym Y am, and he sente me.
29 Mas eu o conheço, porque venho dele, e ele me enviou a vocês”.
30 Therfor thei souyten to take hym, and no man sette on hym hoondis, for his our cam not yit.
30 Então tentaram prendê-lo, mas ninguém pôs as mãos nele, porque ainda não havia chegado sua hora.
31 And many of the puple bileueden in hym, and seiden, Whanne Crist schal come, whether he schal do mo tokenes, than tho that this doith?
31 Muitos entre as multidões no templo creram nele e diziam: “Afinal, alguém espera que o Cristo faça mais sinais do que este homem tem feito?”.
32 Farisees herden the puple musinge of hym these thingis; and the princis and Farisees senten mynystris, to take hym.
32 Quando os fariseus ouviram que as multidões sussurravam essas coisas, eles e os principais sacerdotes enviaram guardas do templo para prendê-lo.
33 Therfor Jhesus seide to hem, Yit a litil tyme Y am with you, and Y go to the fadir, that sente me.
33 Jesus, porém, lhes disse: “Estarei com vocês só um pouco mais. Então voltarei para aquele que me enviou.
34 Ye schulen seke me, and ye schulen not fynde; and where Y am, ye may not come.
34 Vocês procurarão por mim, mas não me encontrarão. E não poderão ir para onde eu vou”.
35 Therfor the Jewis seiden to hem silf, Whidur schal this gon, for we schulen not fynde hym? whether he wole go in to the scateryng of hethene men, and wole teche the hethene?
35 Os judeus se perguntavam: “Para onde ele pretende ir? Será que planeja partir e ir aos judeus em outras terras? Talvez até ensine aos gregos!
36 What is this word, which he seide, Ye schulen seke me, and ye schulen not fynde; and where Y am, ye moun not come?
36 O que ele quer dizer quando fala: ‘Vocês procurarão por mim, mas não me encontrarão’ e ‘Não poderão ir para onde eu vou’?”.
37 But in the laste dai of the greet feeste, Jhesus stood, and criede, and seide, If ony man thirstith, come he to me, and drynke.
37 No último dia, o mais importante da festa, Jesus se levantou e disse em alta voz: “Quem tem sede, venha a mim e beba!
38 He that bileueth in me, as the scripture seith, Floodis of quyk watir schulen flowe fro his wombe.
38 Pois as Escrituras declaram: ‘Rios de água viva brotarão do interior de quem crer em mim’”.
39 But he seide this thing of the Spirit, whom men that bileueden in hym schulden take; for the Spirit was not yit youun, for Jhesus was not yit glorified.
39 Quando ele falou de “água viva”, estava se referindo ao Espírito que seria dado mais tarde a todos que nele cressem. Naquela ocasião o Espírito ainda não tinha sido dado, pois Jesus ainda não havia sido glorificado.
40 Therfor of that cumpanye, whanne thei hadden herd these wordis of hym, thei seiden, This is verili a prophete.
40 Quando as multidões o ouviram dizer isso, alguns declararam: “Certamente este homem é o profeta por quem esperávamos”.
41 Othere seiden, This is Crist. `But summe seiden, Whether Crist cometh fro Galilee?
41 Outros afirmaram: “Ele é o Cristo”. E ainda outros disseram: “Não é possível! O Cristo virá da Galileia?
42 Whether the scripture seith not, that of the seed of Dauid, and of the castel of Bethleem, where Dauid was, Crist cometh?
42 As Escrituras afirmam claramente que o Cristo nascerá da linhagem real de Davi, em Belém, o povoado onde o rei Davi nasceu”.
43 Therfor discencioun was maad among the puple for hym.
43 Assim, a multidão estava dividida a respeito de Jesus.
44 For summe of hem wolden haue take hym, but no man sette hondis on hym.
44 Alguns queriam que ele fosse preso, mas ninguém pôs as mãos nele.
45 Therfor the mynystris camen to bischopis and Farisees, and thei seiden to hem, Whi brouyten ye not hym?
45 Quando os guardas do templo voltaram sem ter prendido Jesus, os principais sacerdotes e fariseus perguntaram: “Por que vocês não o trouxeram?”.
46 The mynystris answeriden, Neuere man spak so, as this man spekith.
46 “Nunca ouvimos alguém falar como ele!”, responderam.
47 Therfor the Farisees answeriden to hem, Whether ye ben disseyued also?
47 “Vocês também foram enganados?”, zombaram os fariseus.
48 whether ony of the pryncis or of the Farisees bileueden in hym?
48 “Por acaso um de nós que seja, entre os líderes ou fariseus, crê nele?
49 But this puple, that knowith not the lawe, ben cursid.
49 As multidões ignorantes o seguem, mas elas não têm conhecimento da lei. São amaldiçoadas!”
50 Nychodeme seith to hem, he that cam to hym bi nyyt, that was oon of hem, Whethir oure lawe demith a man,
50 Então Nicodemos, o líder que antes havia se encontrado com Jesus, perguntou:
51 but it haue first herde of hym, and knowe what he doith?
51 “A lei permite condenar um homem antes mesmo de haver uma audiência?”.
52 Thei answeriden, and seiden to hym, Whether thou art a man of Galilee also? Seke thou scripturis, and se thou, that a prophete risith not of Galilee.
52 “Você também é da Galileia?”, responderam eles. “Procure e veja por si mesmo: nenhum profeta vem da Galileia!”
53 And thei turneden ayen, ech in to his hous.
53 Então todos foram para casa.
