1 Wo to hem that goon doun in to Egipt to help, and hopen in horsis, and han trist on cartis, for tho ben manye, and on knyytis, for thei ben ful stronge; and thei tristiden not on the hooli of Israel, and thei souyten not the Lord.
1 Ai dos que descem ao Egito, buscando ajuda, e fiam-se em cavalos e confiam em carruagens, porque elas são muitas; e em cavaleiros porque eles são muito fortes; porém não olham em direção ao Santo de Israel, nem buscam o SENHOR!
2 Forsothe he that is wijs, hath brouyt yuel, and took not awei hise wordis; and he schal rise togidere ayens the hous of worste men, and ayens the helpe of hem that worchen wickidnesse.
2 Além disso, ele também é sábio, e trará o mal, e não revogará suas palavras. Porém, levantar-se-á contra a casa dos fazedores do mal e contra o auxílio daqueles que obram iniquidade.
3 Egipt is a man, and not God; and the horsis of hem ben fleisch, and not spirit; and the Lord schal bowe doun his hond, and the helpere schal falle doun, and he schal falle, to whom help is youun, and alle schulen be wastid togidere.
3 Agora, os egípcios são homens, e não Deus. E seus cavalos, carne e não espírito. Quando o SENHOR estender sua mão, tanto o que ajuda cairá quanto aquele que é ajudado fracassará, e todos eles falharão juntamente.
4 For whi the Lord seith these thingis to me, If a lioun rorith, and a whelp of a lioun on his prey, whanne the multitude of schipherdis cometh ayens hym, he schal not drede of the vois of hem, and he schal not drede of the multitude of hem; so the Lord of oostis schal come doun, for to fiyte on the mounteyn of Sion, and on the litil hil therof.
4 Porque deste modo tem o SENHOR me falado: Semelhantemente ao leão e ao leão novo rugindo sobre sua presa, quando uma multidão de pastores é suscitada contra ele. Ele não estará temeroso das vozes deles, nem se rebaixará pelo barulho deles. Assim o SENHOR dos Exércitos descerá para lutar pelo monte Sião e pela colina daquele lugar.
5 As briddis fleynge, so the Lord of oostis schal defende Jerusalem; he defendynge and delyuerynge, passynge forth and sauynge.
5 Como pássaros voando, assim o SENHOR dos Exércitos defenderá Jerusalém, defendendo, também Ele irá libertá-la e, passando por cima, preservá-la-á.
6 Ye sones of Israel, be conuertid, as ye hadden go awei in to depthe.
6 Voltai-vos em direção àquele contra quem os filhos de Israel têm se revoltado profundamente.
7 Forsothe in that dai a man schal caste awei the idols of his siluer, and the idols of his gold, whiche youre hondis maden to you in to synne.
7 Porque naquele dia todo homem descartará seus ídolos de prata e seus ídolos de ouro, os quais suas próprias mãos têm feito para vós, para um pecado.
8 And Assur schal falle bi swerd, not of man, and a swerd, not of man, schal deuoure hym; and he schal fle, not fro the face of swerd, and hise yonge men schulen be tributaries;
8 Então, o assírio cairá com a espada, não de um homem poderoso, e a espada, não de um mortal, o devorará. Porém, ele fugirá da espada e seus jovens serão desbaratados.
9 and the strengthe of hym schal passe fro ferdfulnesse, and hise princes fleynge schulen drede. The Lord seide, whos fier is in Sion, and his chymeney is in Jerusalem.
9 E, ele fará desaparecer a sua fortificação por causa do medo, e seus príncipes terão medo da bandeira, diz o SENHOR, cujo fogo está em Sião, e sua fornalha em Jerusalém.
