1 If ony man stelith a scheep, ether oxe, and sleeth, ether sillith, he schal restore fiue oxen for oon oxe, and foure scheep for o scheep.
1 Se alguém furtar um boi {ou uma ovelha}, e o matar ou vender, por um boi pagará cinco bois, e por uma ovelha quatro ovelhas.
2 And if a nyyt theef brekynge an hows, ether vndurmynynge, is foundun, and is deed bi a wounde takun, the smytere schal not be gilti of blood;
2 Se o ladrão for achado a minar uma casa, e for ferido de modo que morra, o que o feriu não será réu de sangue;
3 that if he dide this whanne the sunne was rysun, he dide man sleyng, and he schal die. If a theef hath not that, that he schal yelde for thefte, he schal be seeld;
3 mas se o sol houver saído sobre o ladrão, o que o feriu será réu de sangue. O ladrão certamente dará indenização; se nada possuir, será então vendido por seu furto.
4 if that thing that he staal, is foundun quyk at hym, ether oxe, ether asse, ether scheep, he schal restore the double.
4 Se o furto for achado vivo na sua mão, seja boi, ou jumento, ou ovelha, pagará ele o dobro.
5 If a man harmeth a feeld, ethir vyner, and suffrith his beeste, that it waaste othere mennus thingis, he schal restore for the valu of harm, `what euer beste thing he hath in his feeld, ethir vyner.
5 Se alguém fizer pastar o seu animal num campo ou numa vinha, e se soltar o seu animal e este pastar no campo de outrem, do melhor do seu próprio campo e do melhor da sua própria vinha fará restituição.
6 If fier goith out, and fyndith eeris of corn, and catchith heepis of corn, ethir cornes stondynge in feeldis, he that kyndlide the fier schal yeelde the harm.
6 Se alastrar um fogo e pegar nos espinhos, de modo que sejam destruídas as medas de trigo, ou a seara, ou o campo, aquele que acendeu o fogo certamente dará, indenização.
7 If a man bitakith in to kepyng monei to a freend, ether a vessel `in to keping, and it is takun awey bi thefte fro hym that resseyuede, if the theef is foundun, he schal restore the double.
7 Se alguém entregar ao seu próximo dinheiro, ou objetos, para guardar, e isso for furtado da casa desse homem, o ladrão, se for achado, pagará o dobro.
8 If the theef is hid, the lord of the hows schal be brouyt to goddis, `that is, iugis, and he schal swere, that he helde not forth the hond in to `the thing of his neiybore,
8 Se o ladrão não for achado, então o dono da casa irá à presença dos juizes para se verificar se não meteu a mão nos bens do seu próximo.
9 to `do fraude; as wel in oxe, as in asse, and in scheep, and in clooth; and what euer thing may brynge in harm, the cause of euer eithir schal come to goddis, and if thei demen, he schal restore the double to his neiybore.
9 Em todo caso de transgressão, seja a respeito de boi, ou de jumento, ou de ovelhas, ou de vestidos, ou de qualquer coisa perdida de que alguém disser que é sua, a causa de ambas as partes será levada perante os juízes; aquele a quem os juízes condenarem pagará o dobro ao seu próximo.
10 If ony man bitakith to his neiybore oxe, asse, scheep, and al werk beeste to kepyng, and it is deed, ether is maad feble, ethir is takun of enemyes, and no man seeth this,
10 Se alguém entregar a seu próximo para guardar um jumento, ou boi, ou ovelha, ou outro qualquer animal, e este morrer, ou for aleijado, ou arrebatado, ninguém o vendo,
11 an ooth schal be in the myddis, that he helde not forth the hond to the `thing of his neiybore; and the lord schal resseyue the ooth, and he schal not be compellid to yelde.
11 então haverá o juramento do Senhor entre ambos, para ver se o guardador não meteu a mão nos bens do seu próximo; e o dono aceitará o juramento, e o outro não fará restituição.
12 That if it is takun awei bi thefte, he schal restore the harm to the lord;
12 Se, porém, o animal lhe tiver sido furtado, fará restituirão ao seu dono.
13 if it is etun of a beeste, he schal brynge to the lord that that is slayn, and he schal not restore.
13 Se tiver sido dilacerado, trá-lo-á em testemunho disso; não dará indenização pelo dilacerado.
14 He that axith of his neiybore ony thing of these bi borewyng, and it is feblid, ether deed, while the lord is not present, he schal be constreyned to yelde; that if the lord is in presence,
14 Se alguém pedir emprestado a seu próximo algum animal, e este for danificado ou morrer, não estando presente o seu dono, certamente dará indenização;
15 he schal not restore, moost if it cam hirid, for the meede of his werk.
15 se o dono estiver presente, o outro não dará indenização; se tiver sido alugado, o aluguel responderá por qualquer dano.
16 If a man disseyueth a virgyn not yit weddid, and slepith with hir, he schal yyue dower to hir, and schal haue hir wijf.
16 Se alguém seduzir uma virgem que não for desposada, e se deitar com ela, certamente pagará por ela o dote e a terá por mulher.
17 If the fadir of the virgyn nyle yyue, he schal yelde money, bi the maner of dower, which virgyns weren wont to take.
17 Se o pai dela inteiramente recusar dar-lha, pagará ele em dinheiro o que for o dote das virgens.
18 Thou schalt not suffre witchis to lyue.
18 Não permitirás que viva uma feiticeira.
19 He that doith letcherie with a beeste, die by deeth.
19 Todo aquele que se deitar com animal, certamente será morto.
20 He that offrith to goddis, out takun to the Lord aloone, be he slayn.
20 Quem sacrificar a qualquer deus, a não ser tão-somente ao Senhor, será morto.
21 Thou schalt not make sory a comelyng, nether thou schalt turmente hym; for also ye weren comelyngis in the lond of Egipt.
21 Ao estrangeiro não maltratarás, nem o oprimirás; pois vós fostes estrangeiros na terra do Egito.
22 Ye schulen not anoye a widewe, and a fadirles ethir modirles child.
22 A nenhuma viúva nem órfão afligireis.
23 If ye hirten hem, thei schulen crye to me, and Y schal here the cry of hem,
23 Se de algum modo os afligirdes, e eles clamarem a mim, eu certamente ouvirei o seu clamor;
24 and my greet veniaunce schal haue indignacioun, and Y schal smyte you with swerd, and youre wyues schulen be widewis, and youre sones schulen be fadirles.
24 e a minha ira se acenderá, e vos matarei à espada; vossas mulheres ficarão viúvas, e vossos filhos órfãos.
25 If thou yyuest money to loone to my pore puple, that dwellith with thee, thou schalt not constreyne hym, as an extorsioner doith, nether thou schalt oppresse hym by vsuris.
25 Se emprestares dinheiro ao meu povo, ao pobre que está contigo, não te haverás com ele como credor; não lhe imporás juros.
26 If thou takist of thi neiybore `a wed a clooth, thou schalt yelde to hym bifore the goyng doun of the sunne;
26 Ainda que chegues a tomar em penhor o vestido do teu próximo, lho restituirás antes do pôr do sol;
27 for that aloone is the cloothing of his fleisch, with which he is hilid, nether he hath another, in which he slepith; if he crieth to me, Y schal here hym; for Y am mercyful.
27 porque é a única cobertura que tem; é o vestido da sua pele; em que se deitaria ele? Quando pois clamar a mim, eu o ouvirei, porque sou misericordioso.
28 Thou schalt not bacbyte goddis, and thou schalt not curse the prince of thi puple.
28 Aos juízes não maldirás, nem amaldiçoarás ao governador do teu povo.
29 Thou schalt not tarye to offre to the Lord thi tithis, and firste fruytis. Thou schalt yyue to me the firste gendrid of thi sones;
29 Não tardarás em trazer ofertas da tua ceifa e dos teus lagares. O primogênito de teus filhos me darás.
30 also of oxen, and of scheep thou schalt do in lijk maner; seuene daies be he with his modir, in the eiytithe dai thou schalt yelde hym to me.
30 Assim farás com os teus bois e com as tuas ovelhas; sete dias ficará a cria com a mãe; ao oitavo dia ma darás.
31 Ye schulen be holi men to me; ye schulen not ete fleisch which is bifore taastid of beestis, but ye schulen caste forth to houndis.
31 Ser-me-eis homens santos; portanto não comereis carne que por feras tenha sido despedaçada no campo; aos cães a lançareis.
