¹ Forsothe these ben the laste wordis, whiche Dauid, the sone of Ysai, seide. The man seide, to whom it is ordeyned of Crist, of the God of Jacob, the noble salm makere of Israel;

¹ Ora, estas são as últimas palavras de Davi. Davi, o filho de Jessé, disse; e o homem que foi exaltado às alturas, o ungido do Deus de Jacó, e o doce salmista de Israel, disse:

² The spiryt of the Lord spak bi me, and his word bi my tunge.

² O Espírito do SENHOR falou por mim, e a sua palavra estava na minha língua.

³ Dauid seide, God of Israel spak to me, the stronge of Israel, the `iust Lord of men, `is Lord in the drede of God.

³ O Deus de Israel disse, a Rocha de Israel falou comigo: Aquele que rege sobre os homens precisa ser justo, regendo no temor de Deus.

⁴ As the liyt of the morewtid, whanne the sunne risith eerli, is briyt with out cloudis; and as an erbe cometh forth of the erthe bi reynes.

⁴ E ele será como a luz da manhã, quando o sol se levanta, uma manhã sem nuvens; como a relva tenra que brota da terra através do brilho claro depois da chuva.

⁵ And myn hows is not so greet anentis God, that he schulde make with me euerlastynge couenaunt, stidefast and maad strong in alle thingis; for al myn helthe hangith of him, and al the wille `that is, al my desir, goith in to hym, and no thing is therof, that makith not fruyt.

⁵ Embora a minha casa não esteja assim com Deus; ele fez comigo um pacto eterno, ordenado em todas as coisas, e seguro; pois esta é toda a minha salvação, e todo o meu desejo, mesmo que ele não o faça crescer.

⁶ Forsothe alle trespassouris schulen be drawun out as thornes, that ben not takun with hondis.

⁶ Porém, todos os filhos de Belial serão como espinhos lançados fora, porque não podem ser pegos com mãos;

⁷ And if ony man wole touche tho, he schal be armed with irun, and with tre formed in to spere; and the thornes schulen be kyndlid, and schulen be brent `til to nouyt.

⁷ mas o homem que neles tocar deve estar cercado com ferro e com haste de uma lança; e eles serão completamente queimados com fogo no mesmo lugar.

⁸ These ben the names of the stronge men of Dauid. Dauid sittith in the chaier, the wiseste prince among thre; he is as a moost tendir worm of tree, that killide eiyte hundrid with o fersnesse.

⁸ Estes são os nomes dos homens valentes que Davi tinha: O taquemonita que se assentava no assento, chefe entre os capitães; o mesmo era Adino, o eznita; ele levantou a sua lança contra oitocentos, os quais matou de uma única vez.

⁹ Aftir hym was Eleazar, the sone of his fadirs brother Abohi; among thre stronge men, that weren with Dauid, whanne thei seiden schenschip to Filisteis, and weren gaderid thidir in to batel.

⁹ E depois dele vinha Eleazar, o filho de Dodô, o aoíta, um dos três valentes com Davi, quando eles desafiaram os filisteus que estavam lá reunidos para a batalha, e os homens de Israel fugiram;

¹⁰ And whanne the men of Israel hadden stied, he stood, and smoot Filisties, til his hond failide, and was starke with the swerd. And the Lord made greet helthe in that dai; and the puple that fledde turnedc ayen to drawe awei the spuylis of slayn men.

¹⁰ ele se levantou, e feriu os filisteus até que a sua mão ficou exausta, e a sua mão ficou presa à espada; e o SENHOR operou uma grande vitória naquele dia; e o povo retornou depois dele somente para despojar.

¹¹ And aftir hym was Semma, the sone of Age, of Arari. And Filisteis weren gaderid in the stacioun; forsothe there was a feeld ful of lente; and whanne the puple fledde fro the face of Filisteis,

¹¹ E, depois dele vinha Samá, o filho de Agé, o haratita. E os filisteus estavam reunidos em tropa, onde havia um pedaço de terra cheio de lentilhas; e o povo fugiu dos filisteus.

¹² he stood in the myddis of the feeld, and bihelde it; and he smoot Filisteis, and the Lord made greet helthe.

¹² Ele, porém, pôs-se de pé no meio do terreno, e o defendeu, e matou os filisteus; e o SENHOR operou uma grande vitória.

¹³ Also and thre men yeden doun bifore, that weren princes among thretti, and camen to Dauid in the tyme of reep in to the denne of Odollam. Forsothe the castels of Filisteis weren set in the valei of giauntis.

¹³ E três dos trinta chefes desceram, e vieram até Davi na época da colheita à caverna de Adulão; e a tropa dos filisteus acampou no vale de Refaim.

¹⁴ And Dauid was in a strong hold; sotheli the stacioun of Filisteis was thanne in Bethleem.

¹⁴ E Davi estava, então, em uma fortaleza, e a guarnição dos filisteus estava, naquele tempo, em Belém.

¹⁵ Therfor Dauid desiride water of the lake, and seide, If ony man wolde yyue to me drynk of watir of the cisterne, which is in Bethleem, bisidis the yate.

¹⁵ E Davi ansiava, e disse: Ah, se alguém me desse de beber das águas do poço de Belém, que fica junto ao portão!

¹⁶ Therfor thre stronge men braken in to the castels of Filisteis, and drowen watir of the cisterne of Bethleem, that was bisidis the yate, and brouyten to Dauid; and he nolde drinke,

¹⁶ E os três homens valentes irromperam pelo exército dos filisteus, e retiraram água do poço de Belém, que ficava junto ao portão, e a tomaram e trouxeram até Davi; todavia ele não quis beber dela, mas derramou-a ao SENHOR.

¹⁷ but offride it to the Lord, and seide, The Lord be merciful to me, that Y do not this; whether Y schal drynke the blood of these men, that yeden forth, and the perel of soulis? Therfor he nolde drynke. Thre strongeste men diden thes thingis.

¹⁷ E ele disse: Esteja longe de mim, ó SENHOR, que eu faça isto; não é este o sangue dos homens que foram arriscar as suas vidas? Por isto ele não quis bebê-la. Estas coisas fizeram estes três homens valentes.

¹⁸ Also Abisay, brother of Joab, the sone of Saruye, was prince of thre; he it is that reiside his schaft ayens thre hundrid men, whiche he killide; `he was nemid among thre,

¹⁸ E Abisai, o irmão de Joabe, o filho de Zeruia, era chefe entre os três. E ele levantou a sua lança contra trezentos, e os matou, e teve o nome entre os três.

¹⁹ and was the noblere among thre, and he was the prince of hem; but he cam not to the thre firste men.

¹⁹ Não foi ele o mais honorável dos três? Portanto, ele era o capitão deles; todavia não alcançou os três primeiros.

²⁰ And Banaye, the sone of Joiada, strongeste man of grete werkis, of Capseel, he smoot twei liouns of Moab, `that is, twei knyytis hardi as liouns; and he yede doun, and smoot a lioun in the myddil cisterne in the daies of snow.

²⁰ E Benaia, o filho de Joiada, o filho de um homem valente, de Cabzeel, que havia feito muitos atos, ele matou dois homens de Moabe semelhantes a leões; também desceu e matou um leão no meio de uma cova, no tempo da neve.

²¹ Also he killide a man of Egipt, a man worthi of spectacle, hauynge a spere in the hond; therfor whanne he hadde come doun with a yerde to that man, bi miyt he wrooth out the spere fro the hond of the man of Egipt, and killide hym with his owne spere.

²¹ E ele matou um egípcio, um homem formoso; e o egípcio tinha uma lança em sua mão; mas ele desceu até ele com uma vara, e arrancou a lança da mão do egípcio, e o matou com a sua própria lança.

²² Banaye, sone of Joiada, dide these thingis;

²² Estas coisas fez Benaia, o filho de Joiada, e teve o nome entre os três homens valentes.

²³ and he was nemyed among thre stronge men, that weren among the thretti noblere men; netheles he cam not til to the thre. And Dauid made hym a counselour of priuyte to hym silf.

²³ Ele foi mais honorável do que os trinta, mas não alcançou os três primeiros. E Davi o pôs sobre a sua guarda.

²⁴ Asahel, the brother of Joab, was among thretti men; Eleanan, the sone of his fadris brother, of Bethleem; Semma, of Arari;

²⁴ Asael, o irmão de Joabe, era um dos trinta; Elanã, o filho de Dodô de Belém;

²⁵ Elcha, of Arodi; Helas, of Phelti;

²⁵ Samá, o harodita, Elica, o harodita;

²⁶ Hira, sone of Aches, of Thecua; Abiezer, of Amatoth;

²⁹ Helebe, o filho de Baana, o netofatita; Itai, o filho de Ribai, de Gibeá, dos filhos de Benjamim;

³⁰ Hedday, of the stronde of Gaas;

³⁰ Benaia, o piratonita; Hidai, dos ribeiros de Gaás;

³⁷ Bonny, of Gaddi; Silech, of Ammony; Naarai, of Beroth, the squyer of Joab, the sone of Saruye;

³⁷ Zeleque, o amonita; Naarai, o beerotita, o escudeiro de Joabe, o filho de Zeruia;

³⁸ Haray, of Jethri; Gareb, and he was of Gethri;

³⁸ Ira, um jetrita; Garebe, um jetrita;

³⁹ Vrye, of Ethei; alle weren seuene and thretti men.
