1 But, britheren, we maken knowun to you the grace of God, that is youun in the chirchis of Macedonye,
1 Também, irmãos, queremos que estejam informados a respeito da graça de Deus que foi concedida às igrejas da Macedônia.
2 that in myche asaiyng of tribulacioun, the plente of the ioye of hem was, and the hiyeste pouert of hem was plenteuouse `in to the richessis of the symplenesse of hem.
2 Porque, no meio de muita prova de tribulação, manifestaram abundância de alegria, e a profunda pobreza deles transbordou em grande riqueza de generosidade.
3 For Y bere witnessyng to hem, aftir miyt and aboue miyt thei weren wilful,
3 Porque posso testemunhar que, na medida de suas posses e mesmo acima delas, eles contribuíram de forma voluntária,
4 with myche monestyng bisechynge vs the grace and the comynyng of mynystring, that is maad to hooli men.
4 pedindo-nos, com insistência, a graça de participarem dessa assistência aos santos.
5 And not as we hopiden, but thei yauen hem silf first to the Lord, aftirward to vs bi the wille of God.
5 E não somente fizeram como nós esperávamos, mas, pela vontade de Deus, deram a si mesmos, primeiro ao Senhor, depois a nós.
6 So that we preyeden Tite, that as he bigan, so also he performe in you this grace.
6 Isto nos levou a recomendar a Tito que, assim como havia começado, também completasse esta graça entre vocês.
7 But as ye abounden in alle thingis, in feith, and word, and kunnyng, and al bisynesse, more ouer and in youre charite in to vs, that and in this grace ye abounden.
7 Mas como em tudo vocês manifestam abundância — na fé, na palavra, no saber, em toda dedicação e em nosso amor por vocês —, esperamos que também nesta graça vocês manifestem abundância.
8 Y seie not as comaundinge, but bi the bisynesse of othere men appreuynge also the good wit of youre charite.
8 Não digo isto na forma de mandamento, mas para provar se o amor de vocês é sincero, comparando-o com a dedicação de outros.
9 And ye witen the grace of oure Lord Jhesu Crist, for he was maad nedi for you, whanne he was riche, that ye schulden be maad riche bi his nedynesse.
9 Pois vocês conhecem a graça do nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo, que, sendo rico, se fez pobre por amor de vocês, para que, por meio da pobreza dele, vocês se tornassem ricos.
10 And Y yyue counsel in this thing; for this is profitable to you, that not oneli han bigunne to do, but also ye bigunnen to haue wille fro the formere yere.
10 E nisto dou a minha opinião: convém que vocês façam isto, vocês que, desde o ano passado, começaram não só a fazer, mas também a querer.
11 But now parfourme ye in deed, that as the discrecioun of wille is redi, so be it also of parformyng of that that ye han.
11 Terminem, agora, a obra começada, para que, assim como mostraram boa vontade no querer, assim também completem essa obra, dando de acordo com o que vocês têm.
12 For if the wille be redi, it is acceptid aftir that that it hath, not aftir that that it hath not.
12 Porque, se há boa vontade, a oferta será aceita conforme o que a pessoa tem e não segundo o que ela não tem.
13 And not that it be remyssioun to othere men, and to you tribulacioun;
13 Não se trata de fazer com que os outros tenham alívio e vocês tenham sobrecarga, mas para que haja igualdade.
14 but of euenesse in the present tyme youre aboundance fulfille the myseese of hem, that also the aboundaunce of hem be a fulfillynge of youre myseise, that euenesse be maad; as it is writun,
14 Neste momento, a abundância que vocês têm supre a necessidade deles, para que a abundância deles venha a suprir a necessidade que vocês vierem a ter. Assim, haverá igualdade,
15 He that gaderide myche, was not encresid, and he that gaderide litil, hadde not lesse.
15 como está escrito: “Quem recolheu muito não teve demais; e o que recolheu pouco não teve falta.”
16 And Y do thankyngis to God, that yaf the same bisynesse for you in the herte of Tite,
16 Mas graças a Deus, que pôs no coração de Tito a mesma dedicação que temos por vocês.
17 for he resseyuede exortacioun; but whanne he was bisier, bi his wille he wente forth to you.
17 Ele atendeu ao nosso apelo e, mostrando ser muito dedicado, partiu voluntariamente para encontrar-se com vocês.
18 And we senten with hym a brother, whose preisyng is in the gospel bi alle chirchis.
18 E, com ele, estamos enviando o irmão cujo louvor no evangelho está espalhado por todas as igrejas.
19 And not oneli, but also he is ordeyned of chirchis the felowe of oure pilgrimage in to this grace, that is mynystrid of vs to the glorie of the Lord, and to oure ordeyned wille;
19 E não só isto, mas ele também foi eleito pelas igrejas para ser nosso companheiro no desempenho desta graça ministrada por nós, para a glória do próprio Senhor e para mostrar a nossa boa vontade.
20 eschewynge this thing, that no man blame vs in this plente, that is mynystrid of vs to the glorye of the Lord.
20 Queremos evitar, assim, que alguém nos acuse por causa desta generosa dádiva administrada por nós;
21 For we purueyen good thingis, not onely bifor God, but also bifor alle men.
21 pois cuidamos para fazer o que é correto, não só diante do Senhor, mas também diante das pessoas.
22 For we senten with hem also oure brothir, whom we han preued in many thingis ofte, that he was bisi, but nowe myche bisier, for myche trist in you,
22 Com eles, estamos enviando nosso irmão, cujo zelo já pusemos à prova em muitas ocasiões e de muitas maneiras, e que agora se mostra ainda mais zeloso pela grande confiança que deposita em vocês.
23 ethir for Tite, that is my felowe and helpere in you, ethir for oure britheren, apostlis of the chirches of the glorie of Crist.
23 Quanto a Tito, é meu companheiro e cooperador entre vocês; quanto aos nossos irmãos, são mensageiros das igrejas e glória de Cristo.
24 Therfor schewe ye in to hem in the face of chirchis, that schewynge that is of youre charite and of oure glorie for you.
24 Por isso, diante das igrejas, comprovem o amor de vocês e confirmem o orgulho que temos de vocês, na presença desses homens.
