1 Therfor for Crist suffride in fleisch, be ye also armed bi the same thenkynge; for he that suffride in fleisch ceesside fro synnes,
1 Portanto, uma vez que Cristo sofreu fisicamente, armem-se com a mesma atitude que ele teve e estejam prontos para também sofrer. Porque, se vocês sofreram fisicamente por Cristo, deixaram o pecado para trás.
2 that that is left now in fleisch lyue not now to the desiris of men, but to the wille of God.
2 Não passarão o resto da vida buscando os próprios desejos, mas fazendo a vontade de Deus.
3 For the time that is passid is ynow to the wille of hethene men to be endid, whiche walkiden in letcheries, and lustis, in myche drinking of wyn, in vnmesurable etyngis, and drynkyngis, and vnleueful worschiping of mawmetis.
3 No passado, vocês desperdiçaram muito tempo praticando o que gostam de fazer aqueles que não creem: imoralidade e desejos carnais, farras, bebedeiras e festanças desregradas, além da detestável adoração de ídolos.
4 In whiche now thei ben astonyed, in which thing thei wondren, for ye rennen not togidere `in to the same confusioun of letcherie, and blasfemen.
4 Agora, essas pessoas ficam surpresas quando vocês deixam de participar de suas práticas desregradas e destrutivas e, por isso, os difamam.
5 And thei schulen yyue resoun to hym, that is redi to deme the quyke and the deed.
5 Lembrem-se, porém, de que eles terão de prestar contas àquele que está pronto para julgar a todos, vivos e mortos.
6 For whi for this thing it is prechid also to deed men, that thei be demed bi men in fleisch, and that thei lyue bi God in spirit.
6 Por isso as boas-novas foram anunciadas até mesmo aos mortos, pois, embora estivessem destinados a morrer como todo ser humano, agora vivem para sempre com Deus pelo Espírito.
7 For the ende of alle thingis schal neiye. Therfor be ye prudent, and wake ye in preyeris;
7 O fim de todas as coisas está próximo. Portanto, sejam sensatos e disciplinados em suas orações.
8 bifore alle thingis haue ye charite ech to other in you silf algatis lastynge; for charite couerith the multitude of synnes.
8 Acima de tudo, amem uns aos outros sinceramente, pois o amor cobre muitos pecados.
9 Holde ye hospitalite togidere with out grutching;
9 Abram sua casa de bom grado para os que necessitam de um lugar para se hospedar.
10 ech man as he hath resseyued grace, mynystringe it in to ech othere, as good dispenderis of the manyfold grace of God.
10 Deus concedeu um dom a cada um, e vocês devem usá-lo para servir uns aos outros, fazendo bom uso da múltipla e variada graça divina.
11 If ony man spekith, speke he as the wordis of God; if ony man mynystrith, as of the vertu which God mynystrith; that God be onourid in alle thingis bi Jhesu Crist oure Lord, to whom is glorie and lordschip in to worldis `of worldis.
11 Você tem o dom de falar? Então faça-o de acordo com as palavras de Deus. Tem o dom de ajudar? Faça-o com a força que Deus lhe dá. Assim, tudo que você realizar trará glória a Deus por meio de Jesus Cristo. A ele sejam a glória e o poder para todo o sempre! Amém.
12 Amen. Moost dere brytheren, nyle ye go in pilgrymage in feruour, that is maad to you to temptacioun, as if ony newe thing bifalle to you;
12 Amados, não se surpreendam com as provações de fogo ardente pelas quais estão passando, como se algo estranho lhes estivesse acontecendo.
13 but comyne ye with the passiouns of Crist, and haue ye ioye, that also ye be glad, and haue ioye in the reuelacioun of his glorie.
13 Pelo contrário, alegrem-se muito, pois essas provações os tornam participantes dos sofrimentos de Cristo, a fim de que tenham a maravilhosa alegria de ver sua glória quando ela for revelada.
14 If ye ben dispisid for the name of Crist, ye schulen be blessid; for that that is of the onour, and of the glorie, and of the vertu of God, and the spirit that is his, schal reste on you.
14 Se vocês forem insultados por causa do nome de Cristo, abençoados serão, pois o glorioso Espírito de Deus repousa sobre vocês.
15 But no man of you suffre as a mansleere, ethir a theef, ether cursere, ethir a disirere of othere mennus goodis;
15 Se sofrerem, porém, que não seja por matar, roubar, causar confusão ou intrometer-se em assuntos alheios.
16 but if as a cristen man, schame he not, but glorifie he God in this name.
16 Mas, se sofrerem por ser cristãos, não se envergonhem; louvem a Deus por serem chamados por esse nome!
17 For tyme is, that doom bigynne at Goddis hous; and if it bigynne first at vs, what ende schal be of hem, that bileuen not to the gospel?
17 Pois chegou a hora do julgamento, que deve começar pela casa de Deus. E, se o julgamento começa conosco, que destino terrível aguarda aqueles que nunca obedeceram às boas-novas de Deus!
18 And if a iust man vnnethe schal be sauid, where schulen the vnfeithful man and the synnere appere? Therfor and thei that suffren bi the wille of God, bitaken her soulis in good dedis to the feithful makere of nouyt.
18 E, “Se o justo é salvo por um triz, o que será do pecador perverso?”.

19 Portanto, se vocês sofrem porque cumprem a vontade de Deus, continuem a fazer o que é certo e confiem sua vida àquele que os criou, pois ele é fiel.
