1 Moost dere britheren, nyle ye bileue to ech spirit, but preue ye spiritis, if thei ben of God; for many false prophetis wenten out in to the world.
1 Amados, não creiais em todo espírito, mas provai se os espíritos são de Deus, porque já muitos falsos profetas se têm levantado no mundo.
2 In this thing the spirit of God is knowun; ech spirit that knowlechith that Jhesu Crist hath come in fleisch, is of God;
2 Nisto conhecereis o Espírito de Deus: todo espírito que confessa que Jesus Cristo veio em carne é de Deus;
3 and ech spirit that fordoith Jhesu, is not of God. And this is antecrist, of whom ye herden, that he cometh; and riyt now he is in the world.
3 e todo espírito que não confessa que Jesus Cristo veio em carne não é de Deus; mas este é o espírito do anticristo, do qual já ouvistes que há de vir, e eis que está já no mundo.
4 Ye, litle sones, ben of God, and ye han ouercome hym; for he that is in you is more, than he that is in the world.
4 Filhinhos, sois de Deus e já os tendes vencido, porque maior é o que está em vós do que o que está no mundo.
5 Thei ben of the world, therfor thei speken of the world, and the world herith hem.
5 Do mundo são; por isso, falam do mundo, e o mundo os ouve.
6 We ben of God; he that knowith God, herith vs; he that is not of God, herith not vs. In this thing we knowen the spirit of treuthe, and the spirit of errour.
6 Nós somos de Deus; aquele que conhece a Deus ouve-nos; aquele que não é de Deus não nos ouve. Nisto conhecemos nós o espírito da verdade e o espírito do erro.
7 Moost dere britheren, loue we togidere, for charite is of God; and ech that loueth his brother, is borun of God, and knowith God.
7 Amados, amemo-nos uns aos outros, porque o amor é de Deus; e qualquer que ama é nascido de Deus e conhece a Deus.
8 He that loueth not, knowith not God; for God is charite.
8 Aquele que não ama não conhece a Deus, porque Deus é amor.
9 In this thing the charite of God apperide in vs, for God sente hise oon bigetun sone in to the world, that we lyue bi hym.
9 Nisto se manifestou o amor de Deus para conosco: que Deus enviou seu Filho unigênito ao mundo, para que por ele vivamos.
10 In this thing is charite, not as we hadden loued God, but for he firste louede vs, and sente hise sone foryyuenesse for oure synnes.
10 Nisto está o amor: não em que nós tenhamos amado a Deus, mas em que ele nos amou e enviou seu Filho para propiciação pelos nossos pecados.
11 Ye moost dere britheren, if God louede vs, we owen to loue ech other.
11 Amados, se Deus assim nos amou, também nós devemos amar uns aos outros.
12 No man say euer God; if we louen togidre, God dwellith in vs, and the charite of hym is perfit in vs.
12 Ninguém jamais viu a Deus; se nós amamos uns aos outros, Deus está em nós, e em nós é perfeito o seu amor.
13 In this thing we knowen, that we dwellen in hym, and he in vs; for of his spirit he yaf to vs.
13 Nisto conhecemos que estamos nele, e ele em nós, pois que nos deu do seu Espírito,
14 And we sayen, and witnessen, that the fadir sente his sone sauyour of the world.
14 e vimos, e testificamos que o Pai enviou seu Filho para Salvador do mundo.
15 Who euer knowlechith, that Jhesu is the sone of God, God dwellith in him, and he in God.
15 Qualquer que confessar que Jesus é o Filho de Deus, Deus está nele e ele em Deus.
16 And we han knowun, and bileuen to the charite, that God hath in vs. God is charite, and he that dwellith in charite, dwellith in God, and God in hym.
16 E nós conhecemos e cremos no amor que Deus nos tem. Deus é amor e quem está em amor está em Deus, e Deus, nele.
17 In this thing is the perfit charite of God with vs, that we haue trist in the dai of dom; for as he is, also we ben in this world.
17 Nisto é perfeito o amor para conosco, para que no Dia do Juízo tenhamos confiança; porque, qual ele é, somos nós também neste mundo.
18 Drede is not in charite, but perfit charite puttith out drede; for drede hath peyne. But he that dredith, is not perfit in charite.
18 No amor, não há temor; antes, o perfeito amor lança fora o temor; porque o temor tem consigo a pena, e o que teme não é perfeito em amor.
19 Therfor loue we God, for he louede vs bifore.
19 Nós o amamos porque ele nos amou primeiro.
20 If ony man seith, that `Y loue God, and hatith his brother, he is a liere. For he that loueth not his brothir, which he seeth, hou mai he loue God, whom he seeth not?
20 Se alguém diz: Eu amo a Deus e aborrece a seu irmão, é mentiroso. Pois quem não ama seu irmão, ao qual viu, como pode amar a Deus, a quem não viu?
21 And we han this comaundement of God, that he that loueth God, loue also his brothir.
21 E dele temos este mandamento: que quem ama a Deus, ame também seu irmão.
