1 But of thilke thingis that ye han write to me, it is good to a man to touche not a womman.
1 Agora, quanto às perguntas que vocês me fizeram em sua carta, digo que é bom que o homem não toque em mulher.
2 But for fornycacioun eche man haue his owne wijf, and ech womman haue hir owne hosebonde.
2 Mas, uma vez que há tanta imoralidade sexual, cada homem deve ter sua própria esposa, e cada mulher, seu próprio marido.
3 The hosebonde yelde dette to the wijf, and also the wijf to the hosebonde.
3 O marido deve satisfazer as necessidades conjugais de sua esposa, e a esposa deve fazer o mesmo por seu marido.
4 The womman hath not power of hir bodi, but the hosebonde; and the hosebonde hath not power of his bodi, but the womman.
4 A esposa não tem autoridade sobre seu corpo, mas sim o marido. Da mesma forma, não é o marido que tem autoridade sobre seu corpo, mas sim a esposa.
5 Nyle ye defraude eche to othere, but perauenture of consent to a tyme, that ye yyue tent to preier; and eft turne ye ayen to the same thing, lest Sathanas tempte you for youre vncontynence.
5 Não privem um ao outro de terem relações, a menos que ambos concordem em abster-se da intimidade sexual por certo tempo, a fim de se dedicarem de modo mais pleno à oração. Depois disso, unam-se novamente, para que Satanás não os tente por causa de sua falta de domínio próprio.
6 But Y seie this thing as yyuyng leeue, not bi comaundement.

7 For Y wole, that alle men be as my silf. But eche man hath his propre yifte of God; oon thus, and another thus.
7 Gostaria que todos fossem como eu, mas cada um tem seu próprio dom, concedido por Deus: um tem este tipo de dom, o outro, aquele.
8 But Y seie to hem, that ben not weddid, and to widewis, it is good to hem, if thei dwellen so as Y.
8 Portanto, digo aos solteiros e às viúvas: é melhor que permaneçam como eu.
9 That if thei conteynen not hem silf, be thei weddid; for it is betere to be weddid, than to be brent.
9 Mas, se não conseguirem se controlar, devem se casar. É melhor se casar que arder em desejo.
10 But to hem that ben ioyned in matrymonye, Y comaunde, not Y, but the Lord, that the wijf departe not fro the hosebonde;
10 Para os casados, porém, tenho uma ordem que não vem de mim, mas do Senhor: a esposa não deve se separar do marido.
11 and that if sche departith, that sche dwelle vnweddid, or be recounselid to hir hosebonde; and the hosebonde forsake not the wijf.
11 Mas, se o fizer, que permaneça solteira ou se reconcilie com ele. E o marido não deve se separar da esposa.
12 But to othere Y seie, not the Lord. If ony brother hath an vnfeithful wijf, and sche consenteth to dwelle with hym, leeue he hir not.
12 Agora me dirijo aos demais, embora o Senhor não tenha dado instrução específica a respeito. Se um irmão for casado com uma mulher descrente e ela estiver disposta a continuar vivendo com ele, não se separe dela.
13 And if ony womman hath an vnfeithful hosebonde, and this consentith to dwelle with hir, leeue sche not the hosebonde.
13 E, se uma irmã for casada com um homem descrente e ele estiver disposto a continuar vivendo com ela, não se separe dele.
14 For the vnfeithful hosebonde is halewid bi the feithful womman, and the vnfeithful womman is halewid bi the feithful hosebonde. Ellis youre children weren vncleene, but now thei ben hooli.
14 Pois o marido descrente é santificado pela esposa, e a esposa descrente é santificada pelo marido. Do contrário, os filhos seriam impuros, mas eles são santos.
15 That if the vnfeithful departith, departe he. For whi the brother or sistir is not suget to seruage in siche; for God hath clepid vs in pees.
15 Se, porém, o cônjuge descrente insistir em se separar, deixe-o ir. Nesses casos, o irmão ou a irmã não está mais preso à outra pessoa, pois Deus os chamou para viver em paz.
16 And wherof wost thou, womman, if thou schalt make the man saaf; or wherof wost thou, man, if thou schalt make the womman saaf?
16 Você, esposa, como sabe que seu marido poderia ser salvo por sua causa? E você, marido, como sabe que sua esposa poderia ser salva por sua causa?
17 But as the Lord hath departid to ech, and as God hath clepid ech man, so go he, as Y teche in alle chirchis.
17 Cada um continue a viver na situação em que o Senhor o colocou, e cada um permaneça como estava quando Deus o chamou. Essa é minha regra para todas as igrejas.
18 A man circumcidid is clepid, brynge he not to the prepucie. A man is clepid in prepucie, be he not circumcidid.
18 Se um homem foi circuncidado antes de crer, não deve tentar mudar sua condição. E, se um homem não foi circuncidado antes de crer, não o deve ser agora.
19 Circumcisioun is nouyt, and prepucie is nouyt, but the kepyng of the maundementis of God.
19 Pois não faz diferença se ele foi circuncidado ou não. O importante é que obedeça aos mandamentos de Deus.
20 Ech man in what clepyng he is clepid, in that dwelle he.
20 Sim, cada um deve permanecer como estava quando Deus o chamou.
21 Thou seruaunt art clepid, be it no charge to thee; but if thou maist be fre, `the rather vse thou.
21 Você foi chamado sendo escravo? Não deixe que isso o preocupe, mas, se tiver a oportunidade de ficar livre, aproveite-a.
22 He that is a seruaunt, and is clepid in the Lord, is a freman of the Lord. Also he that is a freman, and is clepid, is the seruaunt of Crist.
22 E, se você era escravo quando o Senhor o chamou, agora é livre no Senhor. E, se você era livre quando o Senhor o chamou, agora é escravo de Cristo.
23 With prijs ye ben bouyt; nyle ye be maad seruauntis of men.
23 Vocês foram comprados por alto preço, portanto não se deixem escravizar pelo mundo.
24 Therfor ech man in what thing he is clepid a brothir, dwelle he in this anentis God.
24 Cada um de vocês, irmãos, deve permanecer como estava quando Deus os chamou.
25 But of virgyns Y haue no comaundement of God; but Y yyue counseil, as he that hath mercy of the Lord, that Y be trewe.
25 Quanto à pergunta sobre as moças que ainda não se casaram, não tenho para elas um mandamento do Senhor. Em sua misericórdia, porém, o Senhor me deu sabedoria confiável, e eu a compartilharei com vocês.
26 Therfor Y gesse, that this thing is good for the present nede; for it is good to a man to be so.
26 Tendo em vista as dificuldades de nosso tempo, creio que é melhor que permaneçam como estão.
27 Thou art boundun to a wijf, nyle thou seke vnbyndyng; thou art vnboundun fro a wijf, nyle thou seke a wijf.
27 Se você já tem esposa, não procure se separar. Se não tem esposa, não procure se casar.
28 But if thou hast takun a wijf, thou hast not synned; and if a maidun is weddid, sche synnede not; nethelesse siche schulen haue tribulacioun of fleisch.
28 Se, contudo, vier a se casar, não é pecado. E, se uma moça se casar, também não é pecado. No entanto, aqueles que se casarem em tempos como os atuais terão de enfrentar dificuldades, e minha intenção é poupá-los disso.
29 But Y spare you. Therfor, britheren, Y seie this thing, The tyme is schort. Another is this, that thei that han wyues, be as thouy thei hadden noon;
29 Irmãos, isto é o que quero dizer: o tempo que resta é muito curto. Portanto, de agora em diante, aqueles que têm esposa devem agir como se não fossem casados.
30 and thei that wepen, as thei wepten not; and thei that ioien, as thei ioieden not; and thei that bien, as thei hadden not;
30 Aqueles que choram, que se alegram ou que compram coisas não devem se entregar totalmente à tristeza, à alegria ou aos bens.
31 and thei that vsen this world, as thei that vsen not. For whi the figure of this world passith.
31 Aqueles que usam as coisas deste mundo não devem se apegar a elas, pois este mundo, como o conhecemos, logo passará.
32 But Y wole, that ye be without bisynesse, for he that is without wijf, is bisi what thingis ben of the Lord, hou he schal plese God.
32 Quero que estejam livres das preocupações desta vida. O homem que não é casado tem mais tempo para se dedicar à obra do Senhor e pensar em como agradá-lo.
33 But he that is with a wijf, is bysy what thingis ben of the world, hou he schal plese the wijf, and he is departid.
33 Mas o homem casado precisa pensar em suas responsabilidades neste mundo e em como agradar sua esposa.
34 And a womman vnweddid and maidun thenkith what thingis ben of the Lord, that sche be hooli in bodi and spirit. But sche that is weddid, thenkith what thingis ben of the world, hou sche schal plese the hosebonde.
34 Seus interesses estão divididos. Da mesma forma, a mulher que não é casada ou que nunca se casou pode se dedicar ao Senhor e ser santa de corpo e espírito. Mas a mulher casada precisa pensar em suas responsabilidades aqui na terra e em como agradar seu marido.
35 And Y seie these thingis to youre profit, not that Y caste to you a snare, but to that that is onest, and that yyueth esynesse, with outen lettyng to make preieris to the Lord.
35 Digo isso para seu bem, e não para lhes impor restrições. Quero que façam aquilo que os ajudará a servir melhor ao Senhor, com o mínimo possível de distrações.
36 And if ony man gessith hym silf to be seyn foule on his virgyn, that sche is ful woxun, and so it bihoueth to be doon, do sche that that sche wole; sche synneth not, if sche be weddid.
36 Se, contudo, um homem acredita que está tratando sua noiva de forma inapropriada e que seus impulsos vão além de suas forças, que se case com ela, como é desejo dele. Não é pecado.
37 For he that ordeynede stabli in his herte, not hauynge nede, but hauynge power of his wille, and hath demed in his herte this thing, to kepe his virgyn, doith wel.
37 Mas, se tiver assumido um compromisso firme, e não houver urgência, e ele for capaz de controlar sua paixão, faz bem em não se casar.
38 Therfore he that ioyneth his virgyn in matrymonye, doith wel; and he that ioyneth not, doith betere.
38 Portanto, quem se casa com sua noiva faz bem, e quem não se casa faz melhor ainda.
39 The womman is boundun to the lawe, as longe tyme as hir hosebonde lyueth; and if hir hosebonde is deed, sche is delyuered fro the lawe of the hosebonde, be sche weddid to whom sche wole, oneli in the Lord.
39 A esposa está ligada ao marido enquanto ele viver. Se o marido morrer, ela está livre para se casar com quem quiser, desde que seja um irmão no Senhor.
40 But sche schal be more blessid, if sche dwellith thus, aftir my counsel; and Y wene, that Y haue the Spirit of God.
40 Em minha opinião, porém, seria melhor que ela não se casasse novamente, e creio que, ao dizer isso, lhes dou o conselho do Espírito de Deus.
