1 Poul, the seruaunt of Jhesu Crist, clepid an apostle, departid in to the gospel of God;
1 Eu, Paulo, escravo de Cristo Jesus, chamado para ser apóstolo e enviado para anunciar as boas-novas de Deus, escrevo esta carta.
2 which he hadde bihote tofore bi his profetis in holi scripturis of his sone,
2 Deus prometeu as boas-novas muito tempo atrás nas Escrituras Sagradas, por meio de seus profetas.
3 which is maad to hym of the seed of Dauid bi the flesch,
3 Elas se referem a seu Filho, que, como homem, nasceu da linhagem do rei Davi,
4 and he was bifor ordeyned the sone of God in vertu, bi the spirit of halewyng of the ayenrisyng of deed men, of Jhesu Crist oure Lord,
4 e, quando o poder do Espírito Santo o ressuscitou dos mortos, foi demonstrado que ele era o Filho de Deus. Ele é Jesus Cristo, nosso Senhor.

7 to alle that ben at Rome, derlyngis of God, and clepid hooli, grace to you, and pees of God oure fadir, and of the Lord Jhesu Crist.
7 Escrevo a todos vocês que estão em Roma, amados por Deus e chamados para ser seu povo santo. Que Deus, nosso Pai, e o Senhor Jesus Cristo lhes deem graça e paz.
8 First Y do thankyngis to my God, bi Jhesu Crist, for alle you, for youre feith is schewid in al the world.
8 Antes de tudo, quero dizer que, por meio de Jesus Cristo, agradeço a meu Deus por todos vocês, pois sua fé nele é comentada em todo o mundo.
9 For God is a witnesse to me, to whom Y serue in my spirit, in the gospel of his sone,
9 O Deus a quem sirvo em meu espírito, anunciando as boas-novas a respeito de seu Filho, sabe como nunca deixo de me lembrar de vocês
10 that with outen ceessyng Y make mynde of you euere in my preieris, and biseche, if in ony maner sum tyme Y haue a spedi weie in the wille of God to come to you.
10 em minhas orações, sempre pedindo, se for da vontade de Deus, uma oportunidade de ir vê-los.
11 For Y desire to se you, to parten sumwhat of spiritual grace,
11 Desejo muito visitá-los, a fim de compartilhar com vocês alguma dádiva espiritual que os ajude a se fortalecerem.
12 that ye be confermyd, that is, to be coumfortid togidere in you, bi feith that is bothe youre and myn togidere.
12 Quando nos encontrarmos, quero encorajá-los na fé, e também quero ser encorajado por sua fé.
13 And, britheren, Y nyle, that ye vnknowun, that ofte Y purposide to come to you, and Y am lett to this tyme, that Y haue sum fruyt in you, as in othere folkis.
13 Quero que saibam, irmãos, que muitas vezes planejei visitá-los, mas até agora fui impedido. Meu desejo é trabalhar entre vocês e ver frutos espirituais como tenho visto entre outros gentios,
14 To Grekis and to barberyns, to wise men and to vnwise men,
14 pois sinto grande obrigação tanto para com os gregos como os bárbaros, tanto para com os instruídos como os não instruídos.
15 Y am dettour, so that that is in me is redi to preche the gospel also to you that ben at Rome.
15 Por isso, aguardo com expectativa para visitá-los, a fim de anunciar as boas-novas também a vocês, em Roma.
16 For Y schame not the gospel, for it is the vertu of God in to heelthe to ech man that bileueth, to the Jew first, and to the Greke.
16 Pois não me envergonho das boas-novas a respeito de Cristo, que são o poder de Deus em ação para salvar todos os que creem, primeiro os judeus, e também os gentios.
17 For the riytwisnesse of God is schewid in it, of feith in to feith,
17 As boas-novas revelam como Deus nos declara justos diante dele, o que, do começo ao fim, é algo que se dá pela fé. Como dizem as Escrituras: “O justo viverá pela fé”.
18 as it is writun, For a iust man lyueth of feith. For the wraththe of God is schewid fro heuene on al vnpite and wickidnesse of tho men, that withholden the treuthe of God in vnriytwisnes.
18 Assim, Deus mostra do céu sua ira contra todos que são pecadores e perversos, que por sua maldade impedem que a verdade seja conhecida.
19 For that thing of God that is knowun, is schewid to hem, for God hath schewid to hem.
19 Sabem a verdade a respeito de Deus, pois ele a tornou evidente.
20 For the vnuysible thingis of hym, that ben vndurstondun, ben biholdun of the creature of the world, bi tho thingis that ben maad, yhe, and the euerlastynge vertu of hym and the godhed, so that thei mowe not be excusid.
20 Por meio de tudo que ele fez desde a criação do mundo, podem perceber claramente seus atributos invisíveis: seu poder eterno e sua natureza divina. Portanto, não têm desculpa alguma.
21 For whanne thei hadden knowe God, thei glorifieden hym not as God, nether diden thankyngis; but thei vanyschiden in her thouyts, and the vnwise herte of hem was derkid.
21 Sim, eles conheciam algo sobre Deus, mas não o adoraram nem lhe agradeceram. Em vez disso, começaram a inventar ideias tolas e, com isso, sua mente ficou obscurecida e confusa.
22 For thei `seiynge that hem silf weren wise, thei weren maad foolis.
22 Dizendo-se sábios, tornaram-se tolos.
23 And thei chaungiden the glorie of `God vncorruptible in to the licnesse of an ymage of a deedli man, and of briddis, and of foure footid beestis, and of serpentis.
23 Trocaram a grandeza do Deus imortal por imagens de seres humanos mortais, bem como de aves, animais e répteis.
24 For which thing God bitook hem in to the desiris of her herte, in to vnclennesse, that thei punysche with wrongis her bodies in hem silf.
24 Por isso, Deus os entregou aos desejos pecaminosos de seu coração. Como resultado, praticaram entre si coisas desprezíveis e degradantes com o próprio corpo.
25 The whiche chaungiden the treuthe of God in to leesyng, and herieden and serueden a creature rathere than to the creatoure, that is blessid in to worldis of worldis.
25 Trocaram a verdade sobre Deus pela mentira. Desse modo, adoraram e serviram coisas que Deus criou, em lugar do Criador, que é digno de louvor eterno! Amém.
26 Amen. Therfor God bitook hem in to passiouns of schenschipe. For the wymmen of hem chaungiden the kyndli vss in to that vss that is ayens kynde.
26 Por isso, Deus os entregou a desejos vergonhosos. Até as mulheres trocaram sua forma natural de ter relações sexuais por práticas não naturais.
27 Also the men forsoken the kyndli vss of womman, and brenneden in her desiris togidere, and men in to men wrouyten filthehed, and resseyueden in to hem silf the meede that bihofte of her errour.
27 E os homens, em vez de ter relações sexuais normais com mulheres, arderam de desejo uns pelos outros. Homens praticaram atos indecentes com outros homens e, em decorrência desse pecado, sofreram em si mesmos o castigo que mereciam.
28 And as thei preueden that thei hadden not God in knowyng, God bitook hem in to a repreuable wit, that thei do tho thingis that ben not couenable; that thei ben fulfillid with al wickidnesse,
28 Uma vez que consideraram que conhecer a Deus era algo inútil, o próprio Deus os entregou a um inútil modo de pensar, deixando que fizessem coisas que jamais deveriam ser feitas.
29 malice, fornycacioun, coueitise, weiwardnesse, ful of enuye, mansleyngis, strijf, gile, yuel wille, preuy bacbiteris, detractouris,
29 A vida deles se encheu de toda espécie de perversidade, pecado, ganância, ódio, inveja, homicídio, discórdia, engano, malícia e fofocas.
30 hateful to God, debateris, proude, and hiy ouer mesure, fynderis of yuele thingis, not obeschynge to fadir and modir,
30 Espalham calúnias, odeiam a Deus, são insolentes, orgulhosos e arrogantes. Inventam novas maneiras de pecar e desobedecem a seus pais.
31 vnwise, vnmanerli, withouten loue, withouten boond of pees, with outen merci.
31 Não têm entendimento, quebram suas promessas, não mostram afeição nem misericórdia.
32 The whiche whanne thei hadden knowe the riytwisnesse of God, vndirstoden not, that thei that don siche thingis ben worthi the deth, not oneli thei that don tho thingis, but also thei that consenten to the doeris.
32 Sabem que, de acordo com a justiça de Deus, quem pratica essas coisas merece morrer, mas ainda assim continuam a praticá-las. E, o que é pior, incentivam outros a também fazê-lo.
