1 And Jhesus, seynge the puple, wente vp in to an hil; and whanne he was set, hise disciplis camen to hym.
1 E vendo as multidões, ele subiu a um monte; e quando ele estava sentado, aproximaram-se dele os seus discípulos.
2 And he openyde his mouth, and tauyte hem, and seide,
2 e ele abrindo a sua boca, ensinava-os, dizendo:
3 Blessed ben pore men in spirit, for the kyngdom of heuenes is herne.
3 Abençoados são os pobres em espírito, porque deles é o reino do céu.
4 Blessid ben mylde men, for thei schulen welde the erthe.
4 Abençoados são os que choram, porque eles serão consolados.
5 Blessid ben thei that mornen, for thei schulen be coumfortid.
5 Abençoados são os mansos, porque eles herdarão a terra.
6 Blessid ben thei that hungren and thristen riytwisnesse, for thei schulen be fulfillid.
6 Abençoados são os que têm fome e sede de justiça, porque eles serão saciados.
7 Blessid ben merciful men, for thei schulen gete merci.
7 Abençoados são os misericordiosos, porque eles obterão misericórdia.
8 Blessid ben thei that ben of clene herte, for thei schulen se God.
8 Abençoados são os puros de coração, porque eles verão a Deus.
9 Blessid ben pesible men, for thei schulen be clepid Goddis children.
9 Abençoados são os pacificadores, porque eles serão chamados filhos de Deus.
10 Blessid ben thei that suffren persecusioun for riytfulnesse, for the kingdam of heuenes is herne.
10 Abençoados são os perseguidos por causa da justiça, porque deles é o reino do céu.
11 `Ye schulen be blessid, whanne men schulen curse you, and schulen pursue you, and shulen seie al yuel ayens you liynge, for me.
11 Abençoados sois vós, quando homens vos insultarem e vos perseguirem, e falsamente disserem toda espécie de mal contra vós, por minha causa.
12 Ioie ye, and be ye glad, for youre meede is plenteuouse in heuenes; for so thei han pursued `also profetis that weren bifor you.
12 Alegrai-vos e sejam imensamente felizes, porque grande é a vossa recompensa no céu; pois assim perseguiram aos profetas que foram antes de vós.
13 Ye ben salt of the erthe; that if the salt vanysche awey, whereynne schal it be saltid? To no thing it is worth ouere, no but that it be cast out, and be defoulid of men.
13 Vós sois o sal da terra; mas se o sal perder seu sabor, com que se há de salgar? Para nada mais é bom senão para se lançar fora, e ser pisado pelos homens.
14 Ye ben liyt of the world; a citee set on an hil may not be hid;
14 Vós sois a luz do mundo; não se pode esconder uma cidade estabelecida sobre um monte;
15 ne me teendith not a lanterne, and puttith it vndur a busschel, but on a candilstike, that it yyue liyt to alle that ben in the hous.
15 nem se acende a candeia e se coloca debaixo do alqueire, mas sobre um castiçal, e dá luz a todos que estão na casa.
16 So schyne youre liyt befor men, that thei se youre goode werkis, and glorifie youre fadir that is in heuenes.
16 Deixai a vossa luz brilhar diante dos homens, para que vejam as vossas boas obras e glorifiquem a vosso Pai, que está no céu.
17 Nil ye deme, that Y cam to vndo the lawe, or the profetis; Y cam not to vndo the lawe, but to fulfille.
17 Não penseis que eu vim destruir a lei ou os profetas; eu não vim para destruir, mas para cumprir.
18 Forsothe Y seie to you, til heuene and erthe passe, o lettir or o titel shal not passe fro the lawe, til alle thingis be doon.
18 Porque na verdade eu vos digo: Até que passem o céu e a terra, um iota ou um traço de letra, não passará da lei, até que tudo seja cumprido.
19 Therfor he that brekith oon of these leeste maundementis, and techith thus men, schal be clepid the leste in the rewme of heuenes; `but he that doith, and techith, schal be clepid greet in the kyngdom of heuenes.
19 Portanto, qualquer que quebrar um destes mínimos mandamentos, e assim ensinar aos homens, será chamado o menor no reino do céu; aquele, porém, que os praticar e ensinar, será chamado grande no reino do céu.
20 And Y seie to you, that but your riytfulnesse be more plenteuouse than of scribis and of Farisees, ye schulen not entre into the kyngdom of heuenes.
20 Porque eu vos digo que se a vossa justiça não exceder a justiça dos escribas e fariseus, de modo algum entrareis no reino do céu.
21 Ye han herd that it was seid to elde men, Thou schalt not slee; and he that sleeth, schal be gilti to doom.
21 Ouvistes o que foi dito pelos antigos: Não assassinarás; mas qualquer que assassinar estará sujeito a julgamento.
22 But Y seie to you, that ech man that is wrooth to his brothir, schal be gilti to doom; and he that seith to his brother, Fy! schal be gilti to the counseil; but he that seith, Fool, schal be gilti to the fier of helle.
22 Eu, porém, vos digo: Quem quer que, sem motivo, se irar contra seu irmão, estará sujeito a julgamento; e qualquer que disser a seu irmão: Raca!, estará sujeito ao concílio, e qualquer que lhe disser: És tolo!, estará sujeito ao fogo do inferno.
23 Therfor if thou offrist thi yifte `at the auter, and ther thou bithenkist, that thi brothir hath sum what ayens thee,
23 Portanto, se trouxeres a tua oferta ao altar, e ali te lembrares de que teu irmão tem alguma coisa contra ti,
24 leeue there thi yifte bifor the auter, and go first to be recounselid to thi brothir, and thanne thou schalt come, and schalt offre thi yifte.
24 deixa ali diante do altar a tua oferta, e segue teu caminho: primeiro reconcilie-te com teu irmão, e então vem, e oferece a tua oferta.
25 Be thou consentynge to thin aduersarie soone, while thou art in the weie with hym, lest perauenture thin aduersarie take thee to the domesman, and the domesman take thee to the mynystre, and thou be sent in to prisoun.
25 Entra em acordo rapidamente com o teu adversário, enquanto tu estás no caminho com ele, para que não aconteça que o adversário te entregue ao juiz, e o juiz te entregue ao oficial, e tu sejas lançado na prisão.
26 Treuli Y seie to thee, thou shalt not go out fro thennus, til thou yelde the last ferthing.
26 Na verdade eu te digo que de nenhuma forma sairás de lá enquanto não pagares o último quadrante.
27 Ye han herd that it was seid to elde men, Thou schalt `do no letcherie.
27 Ouvistes o que foi dito pelos antigos: Não cometerás adultério.
28 But Y seie to you, that euery man that seeth a womman for to coueite hir, hath now do letcherie bi hir in his herte.
28 Mas, eu vos digo que qualquer que olhar para uma mulher e cobiçá-la, já cometeu adultério com ela em seu coração.
29 That if thi riyt iye sclaundre thee, pulle hym out, and caste fro thee; for it spedith to thee, that oon of thi membris perische, than that al thi bodi go in to helle.
29 E, se o teu olho direito te ofender, arranca-o e lança-o para longe de ti; pois é melhor perderes um dos teus membros, do que seja todo o teu corpo lançado no inferno.
30 And if thi riyt hond sclaundre thee, kitte hym aweye, and caste fro thee; for it spedith to thee that oon of thi membris perische, than that al thi bodi go in to helle.
30 E, se a tua mão direita te ofender, corta-a, e lança-a para longe de ti, porque é preferível para ti perderes um dos teus membros, do que ser todo o teu corpo lançado no inferno.
31 And it hath be seyd, Who euere leeueth his wijf, yyue he to hir a libel of forsakyng.
31 Isto foi dito: Quem repudiar sua esposa, dê-lhe carta de divórcio.
32 But Y seie to you, that euery man that leeueth his wijf, outtakun cause of fornycacioun, makith hir to do letcherie, and he that weddith the forsakun wijf, doith auowtrye.
32 Eu, porém, vos digo que todo aquele que repudiar a sua esposa, a não ser por causa de fornicação, a faz cometer adultério, e qualquer que casar com a divorciada comete adultério.
33 Eftsoone ye han herd, that it was seid to elde men, Thou schalt not forswere, but thou schalt yelde thin othis to the Lord.
33 Igualmente, ouvistes o que foi dito pelos antigos: Não jurarás falso, mas cumprirás ao Senhor os teus juramentos.
34 But Y seie to you, that ye swere not `for ony thing; nethir bi heuene, for it is the trone of God;
34 Eu, porém, vos digo: Não jureis de modo algum; nem pelo céu, porque é o trono de Deus.
35 nether bi the erthe, for it is the stole of his feet; nether bi Jerusalem, for it is the citee of a greet kyng; nether thou shalt not swere bi thin heed,
35 Nem pela terra, porque é o escabelo de seus pés; nem por Jerusalém, porque é a cidade do grande Rei.
36 for thou maist not make oon heere white, ne blacke;
36 Nem jurarás pela tua cabeça, porque não podes tornar um cabelo branco ou preto.
37 but be youre word, Yhe, yhe; Nay, nay; and that that is more than these, is of yuel.
37 Mas seja o vosso falar: Sim, sim; não, não; porque o que passa disto vem do maligno.
38 Ye han herd that it hath be seid, Iye for iye, and tothe for tothe.
38 Ouvistes que foi dito: Olho por olho, e dente por dente.
39 But Y seie to you, that ye ayenstonde not an yuel man; but if ony smyte thee in the riyt cheke, schewe to him also the tothir;
39 Eu, porém, vos digo que não resistais ao mal; mas, se qualquer te bater na face direita, oferece-lhe também a outra.
40 and to hym that wole stryue with thee in doom, and take awey thi coote, leeue thou `to him also thi mantil;
40 E, se algum homem te processar na lei, e tomar a tua túnica, permite-lhe levar também a tua capa.
41 and who euer constreyneth thee a thousynde pacis, go thou with hym othir tweyne.
41 E, quem quer que te obrigar a caminhar uma milha, vai com ele duas.
42 Yyue thou to hym that axith of thee, and turne not awey fro hym that wole borewe of thee.
42 Dá a quem te pede, e ao que quiser tomar de ti emprestado, não lhe vires as costas.
43 Ye han herd that it was seid, Thou shalt loue thi neiybore, and hate thin enemye.
43 Ouvistes que foi dito: Amarás o teu próximo, e odiarás o teu inimigo.
44 But Y seie to you, loue ye youre enemyes, do ye wel to hem that hatiden you, and preye ye for hem that pursuen, and sclaundren you;
44 Eu, porém, vos digo: Amai os vossos inimigos, abençoai os que vos amaldiçoam, fazei o bem aos que vos odeiam, e orai pelos que vos tratam com maldade, e vos perseguem;
45 that ye be the sones of your fadir that is in heuenes, that makith his sunne to rise vpon goode `and yuele men, and reyneth on iust men and vniuste.
45 para que sejais filhos do vosso Pai que está nos céus; porque ele faz que o seu sol se levante sobre maus e bons, e faz chover sobre justos e injustos.
46 For if ye louen hem that louen you, what mede schulen ye han? whether pupplicans doon not this?
46 Pois, se amardes os que vos amam, que recompensa tereis? Não fazem os publicanos o mesmo?
47 And if ye greten youre britheren oonli, what schulen ye do more? ne doon not hethene men this?
47 E, se saudardes somente os vossos irmãos, o que fazeis mais que os outros? Os publicanos não fazem assim?
48 Therfore be ye parfit, as youre heuenli fadir is parfit.
48 Sede vós, pois, perfeitos, como é perfeito o vosso Pai que está no céu.
