1 Therfor whanne Jhesus was borun in Bethleem of Juda, in the daies of king Eroude, lo! astromyenes camen fro the eest to Jerusalem,
1 Ora, tendo Jesus nascido em Belém da Judeia, nos dias do rei Herodes, eis que alguns homens sábios vieram do Oriente à Jerusalém,
2 and seiden, Where is he, that is borun king of Jewis? for we han seyn his sterre in the eest, and we comen to worschipe him.
2 dizendo: Onde está aquele que é nascido REI DOS JUDEUS? Pois nós temos visto a sua estrela no Oriente, e viemos para adorá-lo.
3 But king Eroude herde, and was trublid, and al Jerusalem with hym.
3 Ouvindo estas coisas, o rei Herodes ficou preocupado, e toda Jerusalém com ele.
4 And he gaderide to gidre alle the prynces of prestis, and scribis of the puple, and enqueride of hem, where Crist shulde be borun.
4 E quando ele tinha reunido todos os principais sacerdotes e escribas do povo, ele exigiu deles onde Cristo deveria nascer.
5 And thei seiden to hym, In Bethleem of Juda; for so it is writun bi a profete,
5 E disseram-lhe: Em Belém da Judeia; pois assim está escrito pelo profeta:
6 And thou, Bethleem, the lond of Juda, art not the leest among the prynces of Juda; for of thee a duyk schal go out, that schal gouerne my puple of Israel.
6 E tu, Belém, na terra de Judá, não és a menor entre as capitais de Judá; porque de ti virá um Governador que há de governar o meu povo Israel.
7 Thanne Eroude clepide pryueli the astromyens, and lernyde bisili of hem the tyme of the sterre that apperide to hem.
7 Então Herodes, chamando os homens sábios em particular, inquiriu diligentemente deles acerca do tempo em que a estrela lhes aparecera.
8 And he sente hem in to Bethleem, and seide, Go ye, and axe ye bisili of the child, and whanne yee han foundun, telle ye it to me, that Y also come, and worschipe hym.
8 E, enviando-os a Belém, disse: Ide, e perguntai diligentemente pelo menino, e quando o achardes, tragam-me a palavra novamente, para que eu também vá e o adore.
9 And whanne thei hadden herd the kyng, thei wenten forth. And lo! the sterre, that thei siyen in the eest, wente bifore hem, til it cam, and stood aboue, where the child was.
9 Tendo eles ouvido o rei, partiram; e eis que a estrela que tinham visto no Oriente, ia adiante deles, até chegar e parar por sobre o lugar onde estava o menino.
10 And thei siyen the sterre, and ioyeden with a ful greet ioye.
10 E, vendo a estrela, regozijaram-se com grande júbilo.
11 And thei entriden in to the hous, and founden the child with Marie, his modir; and thei felden doun, and worschipiden him. And whanne thei hadden openyd her tresouris, thei offryden to hym yiftis, gold, encense, and myrre.
11 E, entrando na casa, eles viram o menino com Maria sua mãe e, prostrando-se, o adoraram; e abrindo os seus tesouros, ofertaram-lhe dádivas: ouro, incenso e mirra.
12 And whanne thei hadden take an aunswere in sleep, that thei schulden not turne ayen to Eroude, thei turneden ayen bi anothir weie in to her cuntrey.
12 E sendo avisados por Deus em sonho para que não retornassem para Herodes, eles partiram para a sua terra por outro caminho.
13 And whanne thei weren goon, lo! the aungel of the Lord apperide to Joseph in sleep, and seide, Rise vp, and take the child and his modir, and fle in to Egipt, and be thou there, til that I seie to thee; for it is to come, that Eroude seke the child, to destrie hym.
13 E, tendo eles partido, eis que o anjo do Senhor apareceu em sonho a José dizendo: Levanta-te, e toma o menino e sua mãe, e foge para o Egito, e permanece lá até que eu te informe, pois Herodes há de procurar o menino para matá-lo.
14 And Joseph roos, and took the child and his modir bi nyyt, and wente in to Egipt,
14 Levantando-se, tomou o menino e sua mãe, durante a noite, e foi para o Egito.
15 and he was there to the deeth of Eroude; that it schulde be fulfillid, that was seid of the Lord bi the profete, seiynge, Fro Egipt Y haue clepid my sone.
15 E lá permaneceu até a morte de Herodes, para que pudesse se cumprir o que foi dito pelo Senhor através do profeta, dizendo: Do Egito chamei o meu Filho.
16 Thanne Eroude seynge that he was disseyued of the astromyens, was ful wrooth; and he sente, and slowe alle the children, that weren in Bethleem, and in alle the coostis therof, fro two yeer age and with inne, aftir the tyme that he had enquerid of the astromyens.
16 Então Herodes, vendo que tinha sido enganado pelos homens sábios, irritou-se muito, e mandou matar todos os meninos que havia em Belém, e em todas as suas fronteiras, de dois anos para baixo, segundo o tempo que diligentemente inquirira dos homens sábios.
17 Thanne `it was fulfillid, that was seid bi Jeremye, the profete,
17 Então se cumpriu o que foi dito pelo profeta Jeremias, dizendo:
18 seiynge, A vois was herd an hiy, wepynge and moche weilyng, Rachel biwepynge hir sones, and she wolde not be coumfortid, for thei ben noyt.
18 Ouviu-se em Ramá uma voz, lamentação, pranto e grande luto: Raquel chorando por seus filhos, não querendo ser consolada, porque já não existem.
19 But whanne Eroude was deed, loo! the aungel of the Lord apperide to Joseph in sleep in Egipt,
19 Mas, tendo Herodes morrido, eis que um anjo do Senhor apareceu para José em um sonho no Egito,
20 and seide, Ryse vp, and take the child and his modir, and go in to the lond of Israel; for thei that souyten the lijf of the chijld ben deed.
20 dizendo: Levanta-te, e toma o menino e sua mãe, e vai para a terra de Israel; porque já estão mortos os que buscavam a vida do menino.
21 Joseph roos, and took the child and his modir, and cam in to the loond of Israel.
21 E ele levantando-se, tomou o menino e sua mãe, e foi para a terra de Israel.
22 And he herde that Archilaus regnede in Judee for Eroude, his fadir, and dredde to go thidir. And he was warned in sleep, and wente in to the parties of Galilee;
22 Mas ouvindo que Arquelau reinava na Judeia, no lugar de seu pai Herodes, temeu ir para lá; mas, avisado por Deus em sonho, desviou-se para as partes da Galileia.
23 and cam, and dwelte in a citee, that ys clepid Nazareth, that it shulde be fulfillid, that was seid bi profetis, For he shal be clepid a Nazarey.
23 E, ele veio e habitou em uma cidade chamada Nazaré, para que pudesse se cumprir o que fora dito pelos profetas: Ele será chamado Nazareno.
