1 And whanne he hadde fulfillid alle hise wordis in to the eeris of the puple, he entride in to Cafarnaum.
1 Quando acabou de proferir todas estas palavras aos ouvidos do povo, entrou em Cafarnaum.
2 But a seruaunt of a centurien, that was precious to hym, was sijk, and drawynge to the deeth.
2 E um servo de certo centurião, de quem era muito estimado, estava doente, quase à morte.
3 And whanne he hadde herd of Jhesu, he sente to hym the eldere men of Jewis, and preiede hym, that he wolde come, and heele his seruaunt.
3 O centurião, pois, ouvindo falar de Jesus, enviou-lhes uns anciãos dos judeus, a pedir-lhe que viesse curar o seu servo.
4 And whanne thei camen to Jhesu, thei preieden hym bisili, and seiden to hym, For he is worthi, that thou graunte to hym this thing;
4 E chegando eles junto de Jesus, rogavam-lhe com instância, dizendo: É digno de que lhe concedas isto;
5 for he loueth oure folk, and he bildide to vs a synagoge.
5 porque ama à nossa nação, e ele mesmo nos edificou a sinagoga.
6 And Jhesus wente with hem. And whanne he was not fer fro the hous, the centurien sente to hym freendis, and seide, Lord, nyle thou be trauelid, for Y am not worthi, that thou entre vnder my roof;
6 Ia, pois, Jesus com eles; mas, quando já estava perto da casa, enviou o centurião uns amigos a dizer-lhe: Senhor, não te incomodes; porque não sou digno de que entres debaixo do meu telhado;
7 for which thing and Y demede not my silf worthi, that Y come to thee; but seie thou bi word, and my child schal be helid.
7 por isso nem ainda me julguei digno de ir à tua presença; dize, porém, uma palavra, e seja o meu servo curado.
8 For Y am a man ordeyned vndur power, and haue knyytis vndur me; and Y seie to this, Go, and he goith, and to anothir, Come, and he cometh, and to my seruaunt, Do this thing, and he doith.
8 Pois também eu sou homem sujeito à autoridade, e tenho soldados às minhas ordens; e digo a este: Vai, e ele vai; e a outro: Vem, e ele vem; e ao meu servo: Faze isto, e ele o faz.
9 And whanne this thing was herd, Jhesus wondride; and seide to the puple suynge hym, Treuli Y seie to you, nether in Israel Y foond so greet feith.
9 Jesus, ouvindo isso, admirou-se dele e, voltando-se para a multidão que o seguia, disse: Eu vos afirmo que nem mesmo em Israel encontrei tamanha fé.
10 And thei that weren sent, turneden ayen home, and founden the seruaunt hool, which was sijk.
10 E voltando para casa os que haviam sido enviados, encontraram o servo com saúde.
11 And it was don aftirward, Jhesus wente in to a citee, that is clepid Naym, and hise disciplis; and ful greet puple wente with hym.
11 Pouco depois seguiu ele viagem para uma cidade chamada Naim; e iam com ele seus discípulos e uma grande multidão.
12 And whanne he cam nyy to the yate of the citee, lo! the sone of a womman that hadde no mo children, was borun out deed; and this was a widowe; and myche puple of the citee with hir.
12 Quando chegou perto da porta da cidade, eis que levavam para fora um defunto, filho único de sua mãe, que era viúva; e com ela ia uma grande multidão da cidade.
13 And whanne the Lord Jhesu hadde seyn hir, he hadde reuthe on hir, and seide to hir, Nyle thou wepe.
13 Logo que o Senhor a viu, encheu-se de compaixão por ela, e disse-lhe: Não chores.
14 And he cam nyy, and touchide the beere; and thei that baren stoden. And he seide, Yonge man, Y seie to thee, rise vp.
14 Então, chegando-se, tocou no esquife e, quando pararam os que o levavam, disse: Moço, a ti te digo: Levanta-te.
15 And he that was deed sat vp ayen, and bigan to speke; and he yaf hym to his modir.
15 O que estivera morto sentou-se e começou a falar. Então Jesus o entregou à sua mãe.
16 And drede took alle men, and thei magnyfieden God, and seiden, For a grete profete is rysun among vs, and, For God hath visitid his puple.
16 O medo se apoderou de todos, e glorificavam a Deus, dizendo: Um grande profeta se levantou entre nós; e: Deus visitou o seu povo.
17 And this word wente out of hym in to al Judee, and in to al the cuntre aboute.
17 E correu a notícia disto por toda a Judéia e por toda a região circunvizinha.
18 And Joones disciplis toolden hym of alle these thingis.
18 Ora, os discípulos de João anunciaram-lhe todas estas coisas.
19 And Joon clepide tweyn of hise disciplis, and sente hem to Jhesu, and seide, Art thou he that is to come, or abiden we anothir?
19 E João, chamando a dois deles, enviou-os ao Senhor para perguntar-lhe: És tu aquele que havia de vir, ou havemos de esperar outro?
20 And whanne the men cam to hym, thei seiden, Joon Baptist sente vs to thee, and seide, Art thou he that is to come, or we abiden anothir?
20 Quando aqueles homens chegaram junto dele, disseram: João, o Batista, enviou-nos a perguntar-te: És tu aquele que havia de vir, ou havemos de esperar outro?
21 And in that our he heelide many men of her sijknessis, and woundis, and yuel spiritis; and he yaf siyt to many blynde men.
21 Naquela mesma hora, curou a muitos de doenças, de moléstias e de espíritos malignos; e deu vista a muitos cegos.
22 And Jhesus answerde, and seide to hem, Go ye ayen, and telle ye to Joon tho thingis that ye han herd and seyn; blynde men seyn, crokid men goen, mesels ben maad cleene, deef men heren, deed men risen ayen, pore men ben takun to prechyng of the gospel.
22 Então lhes respondeu: Ide, e contai a João o que tens visto e ouvido: os cegos vêem, os coxos andam, os leprosos são purificados, e os surdos ouvem; os mortos são ressuscitados, e aos pobres é anunciado o evangelho.
23 And he that schal not be sclaundrid in me, is blessid.
23 E bem-aventurado aquele que não se escandalizar de mim.
24 And whanne the messangeris of Joon weren go forth, he bigan to seie of Joon to the puple,
24 E, tendo-se retirado os mensageiros de João, Jesus começou a dizer às multidões a respeito de João: Que saístes a ver no deserto? um caniço agitado pelo vento?
25 What wenten ye out in to desert to se? a reed waggid with the wynd?
25 Mas que saístes a ver? um homem trajado de vestes luxuosas? Eis que aqueles que trajam roupas preciosas, e vivem em delícias, estão nos paços reais.
26 But what wenten ye out to se? a man clothid with softe clothis? Lo! thei that ben in precious cloth and in delicis, ben in kyngis housis. But what wenten ye out to se? a profete? Yhe, Y seie to you, and more than a profete.
26 Mas que saístes a ver? um profeta? Sim, vos digo, e muito mais do que profeta.
27 This is he, of whom it is writun, Lo! Y sende myn aungel bifor thi face, which schal make `thi weie redi bifor thee.
27 Este é aquele de quem está escrito: Eis aí envio ante a tua face o meu mensageiro, que há de preparar adiante de ti o teu caminho.
28 Certis Y seie to you, there is no man more prophete among children of wymmen, than is Joon; but he that is lesse in the kyngdom of heuenes, is more than he.
28 Pois eu vos digo que, entre os nascidos de mulher, não há nenhum maior do que João; mas aquele que é o menor no reino de Deus é maior do que ele.
29 And al the puple herynge, and pupplicans, that hadden be baptisid with baptym of Joon, iustifieden God;
29 E todo o povo que o ouviu, e até os publicanos, reconheceram a justiça de Deus, recebendo o batismo de João.
30 but the Farisees and the wise men of the lawe, that weren not baptisid of hym, dispisiden the counsel of God ayens hem silf.
30 Mas os fariseus e os doutores da lei rejeitaram o conselho de Deus quando a si mesmos, não sendo batizados por ele.
31 And the Lord seide, Therfor to whom schal Y seie `men of this generacioun lijk, and to whom ben thei lijk?
31 A que, pois, compararei os homens desta geração, e a que são semelhantes?
32 Thei ben lijk to children sittynge in chepyng, and spekynge togider, and seiynge, We han sungun to you with pipis, and ye han not daunsid; we han maad mornyng, and ye han not wept.
32 São semelhantes aos meninos que, sentados nas praças, gritam uns para os outros: Tocamo-vos flauta, e não dançastes; cantamos lamentações, e não chorastes.
33 For Joon Baptist cam, nethir etynge breed, ne drynkynge wyne, and ye seyen, He hath a feend.
33 Porquanto veio João, o Batista, não comendo pão nem bebendo vinho, e dizeis: Tem demônio;
34 Mannus sone cam etynge and drynkynge, and ye seien, Lo! a man a deuourer, and drynkynge wyne, a frend of pupplicans and of synful men.
34 veio o Filho do homem, comendo e bebendo, e dizeis: Eis aí um comilão e bebedor de vinho, amigo de publicanos e pecadores.
35 And wisdom is iustified of her sones.
35 Mas a sabedoria é justificada por todos os seus filhos.
36 But oon of the Farisees preiede Jhesu, that he schulde ete with hym. And he entride in to the hous of the Farise, and sat at the mete.
36 Um dos fariseus convidou-o para comer com ele; e entrando em casa do fariseu, reclinou-se à mesa.
37 And lo! a synful womman, that was in the citee, as sche knewe, that Jhesu sat at the mete in the hous of the Farisee, sche brouyte an alabaustre box of oynement;
37 E eis que uma mulher pecadora que havia na cidade, quando soube que ele estava à mesa em casa do fariseu, trouxe um vaso de alabastro com bálsamo;
38 and sche stood bihynde bysidis hise feet, and bigan to moiste hise feet with teeris, and wipide with the heeris of hir heed, and kiste hise feet, and anoyntide with oynement.
38 e estando por detrás, aos seus pés, chorando, começou a regar-lhe os pés com lágrimas e os enxugava com os cabelos da sua cabeça; e beijava-lhe os pés e ungia-os com o bálsamo.
39 And the Farise seynge, that hadde clepide hym, seide within hym silf, seiynge, If this were a prophete, he schulde wite, who and what maner womman it were that touchith hym, for sche is a synful womman.
39 Mas, ao ver isso, o fariseu que o convidara falava consigo, dizendo: Se este homem fosse profeta, saberia quem e de que qualidade é essa mulher que o toca, pois é uma pecadora.
40 And Jhesus answeride, and seide to hym, Symount, Y haue sumthing to seie to thee. And he seide, Maistir, seie thou.
40 E respondendo Jesus, disse-lhe: Simão, tenho uma coisa a dizer-te. Respondeu ele: Dize-a, Mestre.
41 And he answeride, Twei dettouris weren to o lener; and oon auyt fyue hundrid pans, and `the other fifti; but whanne thei hadden not wherof `thei schulden yeelde, he foryaf to bothe. Who thanne loueth hym more?
41 Certo credor tinha dois devedores; um lhe devia quinhentos denários, e outro cinqüenta.
42 — ausente —
42 Não tendo eles com que pagar, perdoou a ambos. Qual deles, pois, o amará mais?
43 Symount answeride, and seide, Y gesse, that he to whom he foryaf more. And he answeride to hym, Thou hast demyd riytli.
43 Respondeu Simão: Suponho que é aquele a quem mais perdoou. Replicou-lhe Jesus: Julgaste bem.
44 And he turnede to the womman, and seide to Symount, Seest thou this womman? I entride into thin hous, thou yaf no watir to my feet; but this hath moistid my feet with teeris, and wipide with hir heeris.
44 E, voltando-se para a mulher, disse a Simão: Vês tu esta mulher? Entrei em tua casa, e não me deste água para os pés; mas esta com suas lágrimas os regou e com seus cabelos os enxugou.
45 Thou hast not youun to me a cosse; but this, sithen sche entride, ceesside not to kisse my feet.
45 Não me deste ósculo; ela, porém, desde que entrei, não tem cessado de beijar-me os pés.
46 Thou anoyntidist not myn heed with oile; but this anoyntide my feet with oynement.
46 Não me ungiste a cabeça com óleo; mas esta com bálsamo ungiu-me os pés.
47 For the which thing Y seie to thee, many synnes ben foryouun to hir, for sche hath loued myche; and to whom is lesse foryouun, he loueth lesse.
47 Por isso te digo: Perdoados lhe são os pecados, que são muitos; porque ela muito amou; mas aquele a quem pouco se perdoa, pouco ama.
48 And Jhesus seide to hir, Thi synnes ben foryouun to thee.
48 E disse a ela: Perdoados são os teus pecados.
49 And thei that saten to gider at the mete, bigunnen to seie with ynne hem silf, Who is this that foryyueth synnes.
49 Mas os que estavam com ele à mesa começaram a dizer entre si: Quem é este que até perdoa pecados?
50 But he seide to the womman, Thi feith hath maad thee saaf; go thou in pees.
50 Jesus, porém, disse à mulher: A tua fé te salvou; vai-te em paz.
