1 And it was don in oon of the daies, whanne he tauyte the puple in the temple, and prechide the gospel, the princis of preestis and scribis camen togidere with the elder men;
1 Certo dia, quando Jesus estava ensinando o povo no templo e pregando as boas novas, chegaram-se a ele os chefes dos sacerdotes, juntamente com os mestres da lei e os líderes religiosos,
2 and thei seiden to hym, Seie to vs, in what power thou doist these thingis, or who is he that yaf to thee this power?
2 e lhe perguntaram: "Com que autoridade estás fazendo estas coisas? Quem te deu esta autoridade? "
3 And Jhesus answeride, and seide to hem, And Y schal axe you o word; answere ye to me.
3 Ele respondeu: "Eu também lhes farei uma pergunta: Digam-me:
4 Was the baptym of Joon of heuene, or of men?
4 O batismo de João era do céu, ou dos homens? "
5 And thei thouyten with ynne hem silf, seiynge, For if we seien, Of heuene, he schal seie, Whi thanne bileuen ye not to hym?
5 Eles discutiam entre si, dizendo: "Se dissermos: ‘do céu’, ele perguntará: ‘Então por que vocês não creram nele? ’
6 and if we seien, Of men, al the puple schal stoone vs; for thei ben certeyn, that Joon is a prophete.
6 Mas se dissermos: ‘dos homens’, todo o povo nos apedrejará, porque convencidos estão de que João era um profeta".
7 And thei answeriden, that thei knewen not, of whennus it was.
7 Assim, responderam: "Não sabemos de onde era".
8 And Jhesus seide to hem, Nether Y seie to you, in what power Y do these thingis.
8 Disse então Jesus: "Tampouco lhes direi com que autoridade estou fazendo estas coisas".
9 And he bigan to seie to the puple this parable. A man plauntide a vynyerd, and hiride it to tilieris; and he was in pilgrimage longe tyme.
9 Então Jesus passou a contar ao povo esta parábola: "Certo homem plantou uma vinha, arrendou-a a alguns lavradores e ausentou-se por longo tempo.
10 And in the tyme of gaderynge of grapis, he sente a seruaunt to the tilieris, that thei schulden yyue to hym of the fruyt of the vynyerd; whiche beten hym, and leten hym go voide.
10 Na época da colheita, ele enviou um servo aos lavradores, para que lhe entregassem parte do fruto da vinha. Mas os lavradores o espancaram e o mandaram embora de mãos vazias.
11 And he thouyte yit to sende another seruaunt; and thei beten this, and turmentiden hym sore, and leten hym go.
11 Ele mandou outro servo, mas a esse também espancaram e o trataram de maneira humilhante, mandando-o embora de mãos vazias.
12 And he thouyte yit to sende the thridde, and hym also thei woundiden, and castiden out.
12 Enviou ainda um terceiro, e eles o feriram e o expulsaram da vinha.
13 And the lord of the vyneyerd seide, What schal Y do? Y schal sende my dereworthe sone; perauenture, whanne thei seen hym, thei schulen drede.
13 "Então o proprietário da vinha disse: ‘Que farei? Mandarei meu filho amado; quem sabe o respeitarão’.
14 And whanne the tilieris sayn hym, thei thouyten with ynne hem silf, and seiden, This is the eire, sle we hym, that the eritage be oure.
14 "Mas quando os lavradores o viram, combinaram entre si dizendo: ‘Este é o herdeiro. Vamos matá-lo, e a herança será nossa’.
15 And thei castiden hym out of the vyneyerd, and killiden hym. What schal thanne the lord of the vyneyerd do to hem?
15 Assim, lançaram-no fora da vinha e o mataram. "O que lhes fará então o dono da vinha?
16 He schal come, and distruye these tilieris, and yyue the vyneyerd to othere. And whanne this thing was herd, thei seiden to hym, God forbede.
16 Virá, matará aqueles lavradores e dará a vinha a outros". Quando o povo ouviu isso, disse: "Que isso nunca aconteça! "
17 But he bihelde hem, and seide, What thanne is this that is writun, The stoon which men bildynge repreueden, this is maad in to the heed of the corner?
17 Jesus olhou fixamente para eles e perguntou: "Então, qual é o significado do que está escrito? ‘A pedra que os construtores rejeitaram tornou-se a pedra angular’.
18 Ech that schal falle on that stoon, schal be to-brisid, but on whom it schal falle, it schal al to-breke him.
18 Todo o que cair sobre esta pedra será despedaçado, e aquele sobre quem ela cair será reduzido a pó".
19 And the princis of prestis, and scribis, souyten to leye on hym hoondis in that our, and thei dredden the puple; for thei knewen that to hem he seide this liknesse.
19 Os mestres da lei e os chefes dos sacerdotes procuravam uma forma de prendê-lo imediatamente, pois perceberam que era contra eles que ele havia contado essa parábola. Todavia tinham medo do povo.
20 And thei aspieden, and senten aspieris, that feyneden hem iust, that thei schulden take hym in word, and bitaak hym to the `power of the prince, and to the power of the iustice.
20 Pondo-se a vigiá-lo, eles mandaram espiões, que se fingiam justos, para apanhar Jesus em alguma coisa que ele dissesse, de forma que o pudessem entregar ao poder e à autoridade do governador.
21 And thei axiden hym, and seiden, Maister, we witen, that riytli thou seist and techist; and thou takist not the persoone of man, but thou techist in treuthe the weie of God.
21 Assim, os espiões lhe perguntaram: "Mestre, sabemos que falas e ensinas o que é correto, e que não mostras parcialidade, mas ensinas o caminho de Deus conforme a verdade.
22 Is it leueful to vs to yyue tribute to the emperoure, or nay?
22 É certo pagar imposto a César ou não? "
23 And he biheld the disseit of hem, and seide to hem, What tempten ye me?
23 Ele percebeu a astúcia deles e lhes disse:
24 Shewe ye to me a peny; whos ymage and superscripcioun hath it? Thei answerden, and seiden to hym, The emperouris.
24 "Mostrem-me um denário. De quem é a imagem e a inscrição que há nele? "
25 And he seide to hem, Yelde ye therfor to the emperoure tho thingis that ben the emperours, and tho thingis that ben of God, to God.
25 "De César", responderam eles. Ele lhes disse: "Portanto, dêem a César o que é de César, e a Deus o que é de Deus".
26 And thei myyten not repreue his word bifor the puple; and thei wondriden in his answere, and heelden pees.
26 E não conseguiram apanhá-lo em nenhuma palavra diante do povo. E, admirados com a sua resposta, ficaram em silêncio.
27 Summe of the Saduceis, that denyeden the ayenrisyng fro deeth to lijf, camen, and axiden hym,
27 Alguns dos saduceus, que dizem que não há ressurreição, aproximaram-se de Jesus com a seguinte questão:
28 and seiden, Maister, Moises wroot to vs, if the brother of ony man haue a wijf, and be deed, and he was with outen eiris, that his brothir take his wijf, and reise seed to his brother.
28 "Mestre", disseram eles, "Moisés nos deixou escrito que, se o irmão de um homem morrer e deixar mulher sem filhos, este deverá casar-se com a viúva e ter filhos para seu irmão.
29 And so there weren seuene britheren. The firste took a wijf, and is deed with outen eiris;
29 Havia sete irmãos. O primeiro casou-se e morreu sem deixar filhos.
30 and the brothir suynge took hir, and he is deed with outen sone;
30 O segundo
31 and the thridde took hir; also and alle seuene, and leften not seed, but ben deed;
31 e o terceiro e depois também os outros casaram-se com ela; e morreram os sete sucessivamente, sem deixar filhos.
32 and the laste of alle the womman is deed.
32 Finalmente morreu também a mulher.
33 Therfor in the `risyng ayen, whos wijf of hem schal sche be? for seuene hadden hir to wijf.
33 Na ressurreição, de quem ela será esposa, visto que os sete foram casados com ela? "
34 And Jhesus seide to hem, Sones of this world wedden, and ben youun to weddyngis;
34 Jesus respondeu: "Os filhos desta era casam-se e são dados em casamento,
35 but thei that schulen be had worthi of that world, and of the `risyng ayen fro deeth, nethir ben wedded,
35 mas os que forem considerados dignos de tomar parte na era que há de vir e na ressurreição dos mortos não se casarão nem serão dados em casamento,
36 nethir wedden wyues, nethir schulen mowe die more; for thei ben euen with aungels, and ben the sones of God, sithen thei ben the sones of `risyng ayen fro deeth.
36 e não podem mais morrer, pois são como os anjos. São filhos de Deus, visto que são filhos da ressurreição.
37 And that deed men risen ayen, also Moises schewide bisidis the busch, as he seith, The Lord God of Abraham, and God of Ysaac, and God of Jacob.
37 E que os mortos ressuscitam, já Moisés mostrou, no relato da sarça, quando ao Senhor ele chama ‘Deus de Abraão, Deus de Isaque e Deus de Jacó’.
38 And God is not of deed men, but of lyuynge men; for alle men lyuen to hym.
38 Ele não é Deus de mortos, mas de vivos, pois para ele todos vivem".
39 And summe of scribis answeringe, seiden, Maistir, thou hast wel seid.
39 Alguns dos mestres da lei disseram: "Respondeste bem, Mestre! "
40 And thei dursten no more axe hym ony thing.
40 E ninguém mais ousava fazer-lhe perguntas.
41 But he seide to hem, How seien men, Crist to be the sone of Dauid,
41 Então Jesus lhes perguntou: "Como dizem que o Cristo é Filho de Davi?
42 and Dauid hym silf seith in the book of Salmes, The Lord seide to my lord, Sitte thou on my riythalf,
42 "O próprio Davi afirma no Livro dos Salmos: ‘O Senhor disse ao meu Senhor: "Senta-te à minha direita
43 til that Y putte thin enemyes a stool of thi feet?
43 até que eu ponha os teus inimigos como estrado para os teus pés" ’.
44 Therfor Dauid clepith hym lord, and hou is he his sone?
44 Portanto Davi o chama ‘Senhor’. Então, como é que ele pode ser seu filho? "
45 And in heryng of al the puple, he seide to hise disciplis,
45 Estando todo o povo a ouvi-lo, Jesus disse aos seus discípulos:
46 Be ye war of scribis, that wolen wandre in stolis, and louen salutaciouns in chepyng, and the firste chaieris in synagogis, and the firste sittynge placis in feestis;
46 "Cuidado com os mestres da lei. Eles fazem questão de andar com roupas especiais, e gostam muito de receber saudações nas praças e de ocupar os lugares mais importantes nas sinagogas e os lugares de honra nos banquetes.
47 that deuouren the housis of widewis, and feynen long preiyng; these schulen take the more dampnacioun.
47 Eles devoram as casas das viúvas, e, para disfarçar, fazem longas orações. Esses homens serão punidos com maior rigor! "
