1 Forsothe Jerico was closid and wardid, for the drede of the sones of Israel, and no man durste entre, ethir go out.
1 Os portões de Jericó estavam muito bem fechados, pois seus habitantes tinham medo dos israelitas. Ninguém podia sair nem entrar.
2 And the Lord seide to Josue, Lo! Y yaf in to thin hondis Jerico, and the king therof, and alle strong men.
2 Mas o S enhor disse a Josué: “Eu lhe entreguei Jericó, seu rei e todos os seus fortes guerreiros.
3 Alle ye fiyteris, cumpasse the citee onys bi the day; so ye schulen do in sixe daies.
3 Você e seus homens de guerra marcharão ao redor da cidade uma vez por dia, durante seis dias.
4 Forsothe in the seuenthe dai the preestis schulen take seuene clariouns, of whiche `the vss is in iubile; and thei schulen go bifor the arke of boond of pees; and seuen sithes ye schulen cumpasse the citee, and the preestis schulen trumpe with clariouns.
4 Sete sacerdotes irão à frente da arca, e cada um levará uma trombeta de chifre de carneiro. No sétimo dia, marchem ao redor da cidade sete vezes, enquanto os sacerdotes tocam as trombetas.
5 And whanne the vois of the trumpe schal sowne lengere, and more bi whiles, and schal sowne in youre eeris, al the puple schal crie togidere with gretteste cry; and the wallis of the citee schulen falle alle doun, and alle men schulen entre bi the place, ayens which thei stonden.
5 Quando os sacerdotes fizerem soar um toque longo, todo o povo dará um forte grito de guerra. Então cairá o muro da cidade e o povo atacará, cada um do ponto onde estiver”.
6 Therfor Josue, the sone of Nun, clepide preestis, and seide to hem, Take ye the ark of boond of pees, and seuene othere preestis take seuene clariouns of iubile yeeris, and go thei bifor the arke of the Lord.
6 Josué, filho de Num, reuniu os sacerdotes e disse: “Levem a arca da aliança do S enhor e escolham sete sacerdotes para irem à frente dela, cada sacerdote com uma trombeta de chifre de carneiro”.
7 Also Josue seide to the puple, Go ye, and cumpasse ye the citee, and go ye armed bifor the arke of the Lord.
7 Em seguida, ordenou ao povo: “Marchem ao redor da cidade. Os homens armados irão à frente da arca do S enhor ”.
8 And whanne Josue hadde endid the wordis, and seuene preestis trumpiden with seuen clariouns bifor the arke of boond of pees of the Lord,
8 Depois que Josué falou ao povo, os sete sacerdotes que levavam as trombetas diante do S enhor começaram a marchar, avançando e tocando os instrumentos. A arca da aliança do S enhor ia atrás deles.
9 and al the puple armed yede bifore, the tothir comyn puple of fiyteris suede the arke, and alle thingis sowneden with clariouns.
9 Alguns dos homens armados iam à frente dos sacerdotes que tocavam as trombetas e outros iam atrás da arca, enquanto os sacerdotes tocavam sem parar.
10 Sotheli Josue comaundide to the puple, and seide, Ye schulen not crye, nethir youre vois schal be herd, nethir ony word schal go out of youre mouth, til the dai come, in which Y schal seie to you, Crye ye, and make ye noyse.
10 Josué ordenou: “Não soltem o grito de guerra! Não digam palavra alguma até que eu lhes dê a ordem. Então, gritem!”.
11 Therfor the arke of the Lord cumpasside the citee onys bi day, and turnede ayen in to the castels, and dwellide there.
11 Assim, a arca do S enhor foi levada ao redor da cidade apenas uma vez naquele dia; depois, voltaram ao acampamento e ali passaram a noite.
12 Therfor while Josue roos bi nyyt, preestis tooken the arke of the Lord;
12 Na manhã seguinte, Josué se levantou cedo e, mais uma vez, os sacerdotes levaram a arca do S enhor .
13 and seuene of the preestis token seuen clariouns, of whiche `the vss is in iubilee, and yeden bifor the arke of the Lord, `and yeden, and trumpiden; and the puple yede armed bifor hem. Sotheli the tother comyn puple suede the arke, and sownede with clariouns.
13 Os sete sacerdotes com as trombetas de chifre de carneiro marcharam à frente da arca do S enhor , tocando seus instrumentos. Os homens armados marcharam à frente dos sacerdotes com as trombetas e atrás da arca do S enhor , enquanto os sacerdotes tocavam sem parar.
14 And thei cumpassiden the citee in the secunde dai onys, and turneden ayen in to the castels; so thei dyden in sixe daies.
14 No segundo dia, marcharam ao redor da cidade uma vez e depois voltaram ao acampamento. Fizeram o mesmo por seis dias.
15 Sotheli in the seuenthe dai thei risiden eerli, and cumpassiden the citee, as it was disposid, seuen sithis.
15 No sétimo dia, os israelitas se levantaram ao amanhecer e marcharam ao redor da cidade, como haviam feito antes. Dessa vez, porém, rodearam a cidade sete vezes.
16 And whanne in the seuenthe cumpas preestis sowneden with clariouns, Josue seide to al Israel, Crie ye, for the Lord hath bitake the citee to vs;
16 Na sétima vez, enquanto os sacerdotes faziam soar um toque longo das trombetas, Josué ordenou ao povo: “Gritem! O S enhor lhes entregou a cidade!
17 and this citee be cursid, ethir distried, and alle thingis that ben therynne be halewid to the Lord. Raab the hoor aloone lyue, with alle men that ben with hir in the hows; for sche hidde the messangeris whiche we senten.
17 Jericó e tudo que há dentro dela serão completamente destruídos como oferta ao S enhor . Somente a prostituta Raabe e os outros que estiverem em sua casa serão poupados, pois ela protegeu nossos espiões.
18 Forsothe be ye war, lest ye touchen ony thing of these that ben comaundid to you, and ye ben gilti of trespassyng; and alle the castels of Israel be vndur synne, and be troblid.
18 “Não levem coisa alguma daquilo que foi separado para destruição, ou vocês mesmos serão completamente destruídos e trarão desgraça ao acampamento de Israel.
19 Sotheli what euer thing is of gold, and of siluer, and of brasun vessels, and of yrun, be halewid to the Lord, and be kept in hise tresoris.
19 Toda a prata, todo o ouro e todos os objetos de bronze e de ferro serão separados para o S enhor e deverão ser levados para o seu tesouro”.
20 Therfor while al the puple criede, and the trumpis sowneden, aftir that the sowne sownede in the eeris of the multitude, the walles felden doun anoon; and ech man stiede bi the place that was ayens hym. And thei token the citee,
20 Quando o povo ouviu o som das trombetas, gritou com toda a força. De repente, o muro de Jericó veio abaixo. O povo atacou a cidade, cada um do ponto onde estava, e a tomou.
21 and killiden alle thingis that weren therynne, fro man `til to womman, fro yong child `til to eld man; also thei smytiden bi the scharpnesse of swerd, oxun, and scheep, and assis.
21 Com suas espadas, destruíram completamente tudo que havia dentro dela: homens e mulheres, jovens e velhos, bois, ovelhas e jumentos.
22 Forsothe Josue seide to twei men, that weren sent aspieris, Entre ye in to the hows of the womman hoore, and brynge ye forth hir, and alle thingis that ben herne, as ye maden stedfast to hir bi an ooth.
22 Josué disse aos dois espiões: “Cumpram sua promessa! Vão à casa da prostituta e tirem-na de lá com toda a sua família”.
23 And the yonge men entriden, and ledden out Raab, and her fadir, and modir, and britheren, and al the purtenaunce of houshold, and the kynrede `of hir; and maden to dwelle without the castels of Israel.
23 Então os homens que haviam espionado a terra entraram na cidade e tiraram de lá Raabe, seu pai, sua mãe, seus irmãos e todos os outros parentes que estavam com ela. Levaram a família toda para um lugar seguro fora do acampamento de Israel.
24 Sotheli thei brenten the citee, and alle thingis that weren foundun therynne, without gold, and siluer, and brasun vesselis, and yrun, which thei halewiden in to the `treserie of the Lord.
24 Os israelitas incendiaram a cidade e tudo que havia dentro dela. Guardaram somente a prata, o ouro e todos os objetos de bronze e de ferro para o tesouro da casa do S enhor .
25 Sotheli Josue made Raab the hoore to lyue, and `the hows of hir fadir, and alle thingis that sche hadde; and thei dwelliden in the myddis of Israel, `til in to present dai; for sche hidde the messangeris, whiche he sente to asspie Jerico. In that tyme Josue preiede hertli,
25 Josué, no entanto, poupou a vida da prostituta Raabe e dos parentes que estavam em sua casa, pois ela escondeu os espiões que Josué tinha enviado a Jericó. E até hoje ela vive no meio de Israel.
26 and seide, Cursid bifor the Lord be the man, that reisith and bildith the citee of Jerico! Leie he the foundementis therof in his firste gendrid sone, and putte he the yatis therof in the laste of fre children.
26 Naquela ocasião, Josué pronunciou esta maldição: “Que a maldição do S que tentar reconstruir a cidade de Jericó. À custa de seu filho mais velho, lançará o alicerce. À custa de seu filho mais novo, colocará seus portões”.
27 Therfor the Lord was with Josue, and his name was pupplischid in ech lond.
27 Assim, o S enhor estava com Josué, e sua fama se espalhou por toda a terra.
