1 And the word of the Lord was maad to me,
1 O S enhor me deu outra mensagem:
2 and seide, Go thou, and crye in the eeris of Jerusalem, and seie, The Lord seith these thingis, Y hadde mynde on thee, and Y hadde merci on thee in thi yong wexynge age, and on the charite of thi spousyng, whanne thou suedist me in desert, in the lond which is not sowun.
2 “Vá e proclame esta mensagem para Jerusalém. Assim diz o S enhor : “Lembro-me de como você desejava me agradar, quando era uma jovem noiva, muito tempo atrás. Você me amava e me seguia até mesmo no deserto.
3 Israel was hooli to the Lord, the firste of fruytis of hym; alle men that deuouren that Israel, trespassen; yuelis schulen come on hem, seith the Lord.
3 Naqueles dias, Israel era santo para o S enhor , era como os primeiros frutos de sua colheita. Todos que faziam mal a seu povo eram declarados culpados, e sobre eles vinha calamidade. Eu, o S
4 The hous of Jacob, and alle the lynagis of the hous of Israel, here ye the word of the Lord.
4 Ouçam a palavra do S enhor , descendentes de Jacó e todas as famílias de Israel!
5 The Lord seith these thingis, What of wickidnesse foundun youre fadris in me, for thei yeden fer awey fro me, and yeden after vanyte, and weren maad veyn?
5 Assim diz o S enhor : “Que defeito seus antepassados encontraram em mim, para que se afastassem tanto? Foram atrás de ídolos inúteis, e eles próprios se tornaram inúteis.
6 And thei seiden not, Where is the Lord, that made vs to stie fro the lond of Egipt, that ledde vs ouer thorou desert, bi the lond vnabitable and with out weie, bi the lond of thirst, and bi the ymage of deeth, bi the lond in whiche a man yede not, nether a man dwellide.
6 Não perguntaram: ‘Onde está o S enhor , que nos tirou do Egito em segurança e nos conduziu pelo deserto, uma terra árida e cheia de covas, terra de seca e densa escuridão, onde ninguém vive e pela qual ninguém passa?’.
7 And Y brouyte you in to the lond of Carmele, that ye schulden ete the fruyt therof, and the goodis therof; and ye entriden, and defouliden my lond, and settiden myn eritage in to abhomynacioun.
7 “E, quando eu os trouxe para uma terra fértil, para desfrutar sua fartura e as coisas boas que ela produzia, vocês contaminaram minha terra e corromperam a herança que eu lhes tinha dado.
8 Preestis seiden not, Where is the Lord? and thei that helden the lawe, knewen not me; and scheepherdis trespassiden ayens me, and profetis profesieden in Baal, and sueden idols.
8 Os sacerdotes não perguntaram: ‘Onde está o S Os que ensinavam minha lei não me deram atenção, os governantes se voltaram contra mim, os profetas falaram em nome de Baal e foram atrás de ídolos inúteis.
9 Therfor yit Y schal stryue with you in doom, seith the Lord, and Y schal dispute with youre sones.
9 Portanto, apresentarei minha acusação contra vocês”, diz o S “Também apresentarei acusações contra seus descendentes.
10 Go ye to the ilis of Cethym, and se ye; and sende ye in to Cedar, and biholde ye greetli; and se ye,
10 “Vão para a terra de Chipre, no oeste, e vejam; vão para a terra de Quedar, no leste, e prestem atenção. Alguém já ouviu falar de algo parecido?
11 if siche a thing is doon, if a folk chaungide hise goddis; and certeynli thei ben no goddis; but my puple chaungide hise glorie in to an ydol.
11 Alguma vez uma nação trocou seus deuses por outros, mesmo que não sejam deuses de verdade? Meu povo, no entanto, trocou seu Deus glorioso por ídolos inúteis!
12 Heuenes, be ye astonyed on this thing, and, ye yatis of heuene, be ye desolat greetli, seith the Lord.
12 Os céus se espantam diante disso, ficam horrorizados e abalados”, diz o S
13 For whi my puple hath don tweyne yuels; thei han forsake me, the welle of quyke watir, and han diggid to hem cisternes, `that weren distried, that moun not holde watris.
13 “Pois meu povo cometeu duas maldades: Abandonaram a mim, a fonte de água viva, e cavaram para si cisternas rachadas, que não podem reter água.”
14 Whether Israel is a boond man, ether is borun boonde?
14 “Por que Israel se tornou escravo? Por que foi levado como despojo?
15 Whi therfor is he maad in to prey? Liouns roriden on hym, and yauen her vois; thei han set the londe of hym in to wildernesse, the citees of him ben brent, and noon is that dwellith in tho.
15 Leões rugiram contra ele, e a terra foi destruída. As cidades estão arruinadas, e ninguém mais vive nelas.
16 Also the sones of Menfis and of Tafnys han defoulid thee, `til to the cop of the heed.
16 Egípcios vindos de Mênfis e de Tafnes destruíram o orgulho de Israel.
17 Whether this is not don to thee, for thou forsokist thi Lord God, in that tyme in which he ledde thee bi the weie?
17 E você mesmo é responsável por isso, pois abandonou o S embora ele o guiasse pelo caminho!
18 And now what wolt thou to thee in the weie of Egipt, that thou drynke troblid watir? And what is to thee with the weie of Assiriens, that thou drynke water of the flood?
18 “Que lucro você teve com seus tratados com o Egito e seus acordos com a Assíria? De que lhe adiantam as águas do Nilo ou as águas do Eufrates?
19 Thi malice schal repreue thee, and thi turnyng awei schal blame thee; wite thou and se, that it is yuel and bittir that thou hast forsake thi Lord God, and that his drede is not at thee, seith the Lord God of oostis.
19 Sua maldade trará seu próprio castigo; será envergonhado por ter se afastado de mim e verá como é mau e amargo abandonar o S Eu, o Soberano S
20 Fro the world thou hast broke my yok, thou hast broke my bondis, and seidist, Y schal not serue. For thou hoore didist hordom in ech hiy litil hil, and vndur ech tree ful of bowis.

21 Forsothe Y plauntide thee a chosun vyner, al trewe seed; hou therfor art thou, alien vyner, turned to me in to a schrewid thing?
21 Contudo, eu o plantei, como videira de origem pura, da melhor qualidade; como você se transformou em videira silvestre e degenerada?
22 Thouy thou waischist thee with fulleris clei, and multypliest to thee the erbe borith, thou art defoulid in thi wickidnesse bifore me, seith the Lord God.
22 Por mais sabão ou soda que use, não consegue se limpar; ainda vejo a mancha de sua culpa. Eu, o S
23 Hou seist thou, Y am not defoulid, Y yede not aftir Baalym? Se thi weies in the greet valei, wite thou what thou hast do; a swifte rennere ordeynynge hise weies.
23 “Você diz: ‘Não tenho mancha nenhuma! Não adorei as imagens de Baal!’. Mas como pode dizer isso? Vá a qualquer vale da terra e veja como agiu! Reconheça o que fez! Você é como a fêmea do camelo, inquieta e desesperada para encontrar um macho.
24 A wielde asse customable in wildirnesse drow the wynd of his loue in the desire of his soule; no man schal turne awei it. Alle that seken it, schulen not faile; thei schulen fynde it in the flux of vncleene blood therof.
24 É como a jumenta selvagem, que fareja o vento na época do acasalamento. Quem é capaz de conter seu desejo? Os que a desejam não precisam procurá-la, pois você vai correndo até eles!
25 Forbede thi foot fro nakidnesse, and thi throte fro thirst; and thou seidist, Y dispeiride, Y schal not do; for Y louede brennyngli alien goddis, and Y schal go aftir hem.
25 Quando parará de correr? Quando deixará de ofegar por outros deuses? Mas você diz: ‘Não adianta falar comigo; estou apaixonada pelos deuses estrangeiros e irei atrás deles’.
26 As a theef is schent, whanne he is takun, so the hous of Israel ben schent; thei, and kyngis of hem, the princes, and prestis, and the prophetis of hem,
26 “A nação de Israel é como ladrão que só fica envergonhado quando é pego em flagrante. O povo, seus reis, oficiais, sacerdotes e profetas são todos iguais.
27 that seien to a tree, Thou art my fadir; and to a stoon, Thou hast gendrid me. Thei turneden to me the bak, and not the face; and in the tyme of her turment thei schulen seie, Ryse thou, and delyuere vs.
27 Dizem a um pedaço de madeira: ‘Você é meu pai’, e a um bloco de pedra: ‘Você é minha mãe’. Dão as costas para mim, mas, em tempos de aflição, clamam: ‘Vem nos salvar!’.
28 Where ben thi goddis, whiche thou madist to thee? Rise thei, and delyuere thee in the tyme of thi turment; for aftir the noumbre of thi citees weren thi goddis, thou Juda.
28 Por que não clamam aos deuses que vocês mesmos fizeram? Que eles os salvem quando vier a aflição! Pois seus deuses são tão numerosos quanto as cidades de Judá.
29 What wolen ye stryue with me in doom? Alle ye han forsake me, seith the Lord.
29 Por que me acusam de fazer o mal? Foram vocês que se rebelaram”, diz o S
30 In veyn Y smoot youre sones, thei resseyueden not chastisyng; youre swerd deuouride youre prophetis, youre generacioun is distried as a lioun.
30 “Eu castiguei seus filhos, mas eles não aceitaram minha disciplina. Vocês mesmos mataram seus profetas, como um leão mata sua presa.
31 Se ye the word of the Lord, whether Y am maad a wildirnesse to Israel, ether a lond late bryngynge forth fruyt? Whi therfor seide my puple, We han go awei, we schulen no more come to thee?
31 “Ó meu povo, ouça as palavras do S enhor ! Acaso tenho sido como um deserto para Israel? Tenho sido como uma terra de profunda escuridão? Por que, então, meu povo diz: ‘Finalmente nos livramos de Deus! Não precisamos mais dele!’?
32 Whethir a virgyn schal foryete hir ournement? and a spousesse `schal foryete hir brest girdil? But mi puple hath foryete me bi daies with out noumbre.
32 Acaso uma jovem se esquece de suas joias ou a noiva esconde seu vestido? Contudo, por anos a fio, meu povo se esqueceu de mim.
33 What enforsist thou to schewe thi weie good to seke loue, which ferthermore bothe hast tauyt thi malices thi weies,
33 “Você trama a melhor forma de conquistar seus amantes; até uma prostituta poderia aprender com você!
34 and the blood of pore men and innocentis is foundun in thi wyngis? Y fond not hem in dichis, but in alle thingis whiche Y remembride bifore.
34 Suas roupas estão manchadas com o sangue dos inocentes e dos pobres, embora você não os tenha pego arrombando sua casa.
35 And thou seidist, Y am with out synne and innocent; and therfor thi stronge veniaunce be turned awei fro me. Lo! Y schal stryue with thee in doom; for thou seidist, Y synnede not.
35 Ainda assim, você diz: ‘Não fiz nada de errado; certamente Deus não está irado comigo’. Agora, porém, eu a julgarei severamente, pois você afirma que não pecou.
36 Hou vijl art thou maad, rehersynge thi weies? and thou schalt be schent of Egipt, as thou were schent of Assur.
36 Primeiro aqui, depois ali, vai de um aliado a outro pedindo ajuda. Mas seus novos amigos no Egito a decepcionarão, como fez a Assíria.
37 For whi and thou schalt go out of this lond, and thin hondis schulen be on thin heed; for whi the Lord hath al to-broke thi trist, and thou schalt haue no thing to prosperite.
37 Em desespero, será levada para o exílio com as mãos sobre a cabeça, pois o S elas em nada a ajudarão.”
