1 Forsothe, Lord, thou art iust; if Y dispute with thee, netheles Y schal speke iust thingis to thee. Whi hath the weie of wickid men prosperite? It is wel to alle men that breken the lawe, and doen wickidli?
1 Justo és, ó Senhor , quando entro contigo num pleito; contudo, falarei contigo dos teus juízos. Por que prospera o caminho dos perversos, e vivem em paz todos os que procedem perfidamente?
2 Thou hast plauntid hem, and thei senten roote; thei encreessen, and maken fruyt; thou art niy to the mouth of hem, and fer fro the reynes of hem.
2 Plantaste-os, e eles deitaram raízes; crescem, dão fruto; têm-te nos lábios, mas longe do coração.
3 And thou, Lord, hast knowe me, thou hast seyn me, and hast preued myn herte with thee. Gadere thou hem togidere as a flok to slayn sacrifice, and halewe thou hem in the dai of sleyng.
3 Mas tu, ó Senhor , me conheces, tu me vês e provas o que sente o meu coração para contigo. Arranca-os como as ovelhas para o matadouro e destina-os para o dia da matança.
4 Hou long schal the erthe mourne, and ech eerbe of the feeld schal be dried, for the malice of hem that dwellen ther ynne? A beeste is wastid, and a brid, for thei seiden, The Lord schal not se oure laste thingis.
4 Até quando estará de luto a terra, e se secará a erva de todo o campo? Por causa da maldade dos que habitam nela, perecem os animais e as aves; porquanto dizem: Ele não verá o nosso fim.
5 If thou trauelist rennynge with foot men, hou schalt thou mow stryue with horsis? but whanne thou art sikur in the lond of pees, what schalt thou do in the pride of Jordan?
5 Se te fatigas correndo com homens que vão a pé, como poderás competir com os que vão a cavalo? Se em terra de paz não te sentes seguro, que farás na floresta do Jordão?
6 For whi bothe thi britheren and the hous of thi fadir, yhe, thei fouyten ayens thee, and crieden with ful vois aftir thee; bileue thou not to hem, whanne thei speken goodis to thee.
6 Porque até os teus irmãos e a casa de teu pai, eles próprios procedem perfidamente contigo; eles mesmos te perseguem com fortes gritos. Não te fies deles ainda que te digam coisas boas.
7 I haue left myn hous, Y haue forsake myn eritage; Y yaf my loued soule in to the hondis of enemyes therof.
7 Desamparei a minha casa, abandonei a minha herança; a que mais eu amava entreguei na mão de seus inimigos.
8 Myn eritage is maad as a lioun in the wode to me; it yaf vois ayens me, therfor Y hate it.
8 A minha herança tornou-se-me como leão numa floresta; levantou a voz contra mim; por isso, eu a aborreci.
9 Whether myn eritage is a brid of dyuerse colours to me? whether it is a brid died thorou out? Alle beestis of the feeld, come ye, be ye gaderid togidere; haste ye for to deuoure.
9 Acaso, é para mim a minha herança ave de rapina de várias cores contra a qual se ajuntam outras aves de rapina? Ide, pois, ajuntai todos os animais do campo, trazei-os para a devorarem.
10 Many scheepherdis distrieden my vyner, defouliden my part, yauen my desirable porcioun in to desert of wildirnesse;
10 Muitos pastores destruíram a minha vinha e pisaram o meu quinhão; a porção que era o meu prazer, tornaram-na em deserto.
11 thei settiden it in to scateryng, and it mourenyde on me; al the lond is desolat bi desolacioun, for noon is that ayenthenkith in herte.
11 Em assolação a tornaram, e a mim clama no seu abandono; toda a terra está devastada, porque ninguém há que tome isso a peito.
12 Alle distrieris of the lond camen on alle the weies of desert, for the swerd of the Lord schal deuoure fro the laste part of the lond `til to the laste part therof; no pees is to al fleisch.
12 Sobre todos os altos desnudos do deserto vieram destruidores; porque a espada do Senhor devora de um a outro extremo da terra; não há paz para ninguém.
13 Thei sowiden wheete, and repiden thornes; thei token erytage, and it schal not profite to hem. Ye schulen be schent of youre fruytis, for the wraththe of the stronge veniaunce of the Lord.
13 Semearam trigo e segaram espinhos; cansaram-se, mas sem proveito algum. Envergonhados sereis dos vossos frutos, por causa do brasume da ira do Senhor .
14 The Lord seith these thingis ayens alle my worst neiyboris, that touchen the eritage which Y departide to my puple Israel, Lo! Y schal drawe hem out of her lond, and Y schal drawe the hous of Juda out of the myddis of hem.
14 Assim diz o Senhor acerca de todos os meus maus vizinhos, que se apoderam da minha herança, que deixei ao meu povo de Israel: Eis que os arrancarei da sua terra e a casa de Judá arrancarei do meio deles.
15 And whanne Y schal drawe out thilke Jewis, Y schal conuerte, and haue merci on hem; and Y schal lede hem ayen, a man to his eritage, and a man in to his lond.
15 E será que, depois de os haver arrancado, tornarei a compadecer-me deles e os farei voltar, cada um à sua herança, cada um à sua terra.
16 And it schal be, if thei `that ben tauyt lernen the weies of my puple, that thei swere in my name, The Lord lyueth, as thei tauyten my puple to swere in Baal, thei schulen be bildid in the myddis of my puple.
16 Se diligentemente aprenderem os caminhos do meu povo, jurando pelo meu nome: Tão certo como vive o Senhor , como ensinaram o meu povo a jurar por Baal, então, serão edificados no meio do meu povo.
17 That if thei heren not, Y schal drawe out that folk by drawyng out and perdicioun, seith the Lord.
17 Mas, se não quiserem ouvir, arrancarei tal nação, arrancá-la-ei e a farei perecer, diz o Senhor .
