1 Whanne Jhesus hadde seid these thingis, he wente out with hise disciplis ouer the strond of Cedron, where was a yerd, in to which he entride, and hise disciplis.
1 Tendo terminado de orar, Jesus saiu com os seus discípulos e atravessou o vale do Cedrom. Do outro lado havia um olival, onde entrou com eles.
2 And Judas, that bitrayede hym, knew the place, for ofte Jhesus cam thidur with hise disciplis.
2 Ora, Judas, o traidor, conhecia aquele lugar, porque Jesus muitas vezes se reunira ali com os seus discípulos.
3 Therfor whanne Judas hadde takun a cumpany of knyytis, and mynystris of the bischopis and of the Fariseis, he cam thidur with lanternys, and brondis, and armeris.
3 Então Judas foi para o olival, levando consigo um destacamento de soldados e alguns guardas enviados pelos chefes dos sacerdotes e fariseus, levando tochas, lanternas e armas.
4 And so Jhesus witynge alle thingis that weren to come on hym, wente forth, and seide to hem, Whom seken ye?
4 Jesus, sabendo tudo o que lhe ia acontecer, saiu e lhes perguntou: "A quem vocês estão procurando? "
5 Thei answeriden to hym, Jhesu of Nazareth. Jhesus seith to hem, Y am. And Judas that bitraiede hym, stood with hem.
5 "A Jesus de Nazaré", responderam eles. "Sou eu", disse Jesus. ( E Judas, o traidor, estava com eles. )
6 And whanne he seide to hem, Y am, thei wenten abak, and fellen doun on the erthe.
6 Quando Jesus disse: "Sou eu", eles recuaram e caíram por terra.
7 And eft he axide hem, Whom seken ye? And thei seiden, Jhesu of Nazareth.
7 Novamente lhes perguntou: "A quem procuram? " E eles disseram: "A Jesus de Nazaré".
8 He answeride to hem, Y seide to you, that Y am; therfor if ye seken me, suffre ye these to go awei.
8 Respondeu Jesus: "Já lhes disse que sou eu. Se vocês estão me procurando, deixem ir embora estes homens".
9 That the word which he seide schulde be fulfillid, For Y loste not ony of hem, whiche thou `hast youun to me.
9 Isso aconteceu para que se cumprissem as palavras que ele dissera: "Não perdi nenhum dos que me deste".
10 Therfor Symount Petre hadde a swerd, and drow it out, and smoot the seruaunt of the bischop, and kittide of his riyt eer. And the name of the seruaunt was Malcus.
10 Simão Pedro, que trazia uma espada, tirou-a e feriu o servo do sumo sacerdote, decepando-lhe a orelha direita. ( O nome daquele servo era Malco. )
11 Therfor Jhesus seide to Petre, Putte thou thi swerd in to thi schethe; wolt thou not, that Y drynke the cuppe, that my fadir yaf to me?
11 Jesus, porém, ordenou a Pedro: "Guarde a espada! Acaso não haverei de beber o cálice que o Pai me deu? "
12 Therfor the cumpenye of knyytis, and the tribune, and the mynystris of the Jewis, token Jhesu, and bounden hym,
12 Assim, o destacamento de soldados com o seu comandante e os guardas dos judeus prenderam Jesus. Amarraram-no
13 and ledden hym first to Annas; for he was fadir of Caifas wijf, that was bischop of that yeer.
13 e o levaram primeiramente a Anás, que era sogro de Caifás, o sumo sacerdote naquele ano.
14 And it was Caifas, that yaf counsel to the Jewis, that it spedith, that o man die for the puple.
14 Caifás era quem tinha dito aos judeus que seria bom que um homem morresse pelo povo.
15 But Symount Petre suede Jhesu, and another disciple; and thilke disciple was knowun to the bischop. And he entride with Jhesu, in to the halle of the bischop;
15 Simão Pedro e outro discípulo estavam seguindo Jesus. Por ser conhecido do sumo sacerdote, este discípulo entrou com Jesus no pátio da casa do sumo sacerdote,
16 but Petre stood at the dore with outforth. Therfor `the tother disciple, that was knowun to the bischop, wente out, and seide to the womman that kepte the dore, and brouyte in Petre.
16 mas Pedro teve que ficar esperando do lado de fora da porta. O outro discípulo, que era conhecido do sumo sacerdote, voltou, falou com a moça encarregada da porta e fez Pedro entrar.
17 And the damysel, kepere of the dore, seide to Petre, Whether thou art also of this mannys disciplis? He seide, Y am not.
17 Ela então perguntou a Pedro: "Você não é um dos discípulos desse homem? " Ele respondeu: "Não sou".
18 And the seruantis and mynystris stooden at the coolis, for it was coold, and thei warmyden hem; and Petre was with hem, stondynge and warmynge hym.
18 Fazia frio; os servos e os guardas estavam ao redor de uma fogueira que haviam feito para se aquecerem. Pedro também estava em pé com eles, aquecendo-se.
19 And the bischop axide Jhesu of hise disciplis, and of his techyng.
19 Enquanto isso, o sumo sacerdote interrogou Jesus acerca dos seus discípulos e dos seus ensinamentos.
20 Jhesus answerde to hym, Y haue spokun opynli to the world; Y tauyte euermore in the synagoge, and in the temple, whider alle the Jewis camen togidere, and in hiddlis Y spak no thing.
20 Respondeu-lhe Jesus: "Eu falei abertamente ao mundo; sempre ensinei nas sinagogas e no templo, onde todos os judeus se reúnem. Nada disse em segredo.
21 What axist thou me? axe hem that herden, what Y haue spokun to hem; lo! thei witen, what thingis Y haue seid.
21 Por que me interrogas? Pergunta aos que me ouviram. Certamente eles sabem o que eu disse".
22 Whanne he hadde seid these thingis, oon of the mynystris stondynge niy, yaf a buffat to Jhesu, and seide, Answerist thou so to the bischop?
22 Quando Jesus disse isso, um dos guardas que estava perto bateu-lhe no rosto. "Isso é jeito de responder ao sumo sacerdote? ", perguntou ele.
23 Jhesus answeride to hym, If Y haue spokun yuel, bere thou witnessyng of yuel; but if Y seide wel, whi smytist thou me?
23 Respondeu Jesus: "Se eu disse algo de mal, denuncie o mal. Mas se falei a verdade, por que me bateu? "
24 And Annas sente hym boundun to Caifas, the bischop.
24 Então, Anás enviou Jesus, de mãos amarradas, a Caifás, o sumo sacerdote.
25 And Symount Petre stood, and warmyde him; and thei seiden to hym, Whether also thou art his disciple? He denyede, and seide, Y am not.
25 Enquanto Simão Pedro estava se aquecendo, perguntaram-lhe: "Você não é um dos discípulos dele? " Ele negou, dizendo: "Não sou".
26 Oon of the bischops seruantis, cosyn of hym, whos eere Petre kitte of, seide, Say Y thee not in the yerd with hym?
26 Um dos servos do sumo sacerdote, parente do homem cuja orelha Pedro decepara, insistiu: "Eu não o vi com ele no olival? "
27 And Petre eftsoone denyede, and anoon the cok crew.
27 Mais uma vez Pedro negou, e no mesmo instante um galo cantou.
28 Thanne thei ledden Jhesu to Cayfas, in to the moot halle; and it was eerli, and thei entriden not in to the moot halle, that thei schulden not be defoulid, but that thei schulden ete pask.
28 Em seguida, de Caifás os judeus levaram Jesus para o Pretório. Já estava amanhecendo e, para evitar contaminação cerimonial, os judeus não entraram no Pretório; pois queriam participar da Páscoa.
29 Therfor Pilat wente out with outforth to hem, and seide, What accusyng brynge ye ayens this man?
29 Então Pilatos saiu para falar com eles e perguntou: "Que acusação vocês têm contra este homem? "
30 Thei answeriden, and seiden to hym, If this were not a mysdoere, we hadden not bitakun hym to thee.
30 Responderam eles: "Se ele não fosse criminoso, não o teríamos entregado a ti".
31 Thanne Pilat seith to hem, Take ye hym, and deme ye him, after youre lawe. And the Jewis seiden to hym, It is not leueful to vs to sle ony man;
31 Pilatos disse: "Levem-no e julguem-no conforme a lei de vocês". "Mas nós não temos o direito de executar ninguém", protestaram os judeus.
32 that the word of Jhesu schulde be fulfillid, whiche he seide, signifiynge bi what deth he schulde die.
32 Isso aconteceu para que se cumprissem as palavras que Jesus tinha dito, indicando a espécie de morte que ele estava para sofrer.
33 Therfor eftsoone Pilat entride in to the moot halle, and clepide Jhesu, and seide to hym, Art thou kyng of Jewis?
33 Pilatos então voltou para o Pretório, chamou Jesus e lhe perguntou: "Você é o rei dos judeus? "
34 Jhesus answerde, and seide to hym, Seist thou this thing of thi silf, ether othere han seid to thee of me?
34 Perguntou-lhe Jesus: "Essa pergunta é tua, ou outros te falaram a meu respeito? "
35 Pilat answeride, Whether Y am a Jewe? Thi folc and bischops bitoken thee to me; what hast thou don?
35 Respondeu Pilatos: "Acaso sou judeu? Foram o seu povo e os chefes dos sacerdotes que entregaram você a mim. Que é que você fez? "
36 Jhesus answeride, My kingdom is not of this world; if my kingdom were of this world, my mynystris schulden stryue, that Y schulde not be takun to the Jewis; but now my kingdom is not here.
36 Disse Jesus: "O meu Reino não é deste mundo. Se fosse, os meus servos lutariam para impedir que os judeus me prendessem. Mas agora o meu Reino não é daqui".
37 And so Pilat seide to hym, Thanne `thou art a king. Jhesus answeride, Thou seist, that Y am a king. To this thing Y am borun, and to this Y `am comun in to the world, to bere witnessing to treuthe. Eche that is of treuthe, herith my vois.
37 "Então, você é rei! ", disse Pilatos. Jesus respondeu: "Tu dizes que sou rei. De fato, por esta razão nasci e para isto vim ao mundo: para testemunhar da verdade. Todos os que são da verdade me ouvem".
38 Pilat seith to hym, What is treuthe? And whanne he hadde seid this thing, eft he wente out to the Jewis, and seide to hem, Y fynde no cause in hym.
38 "Que é a verdade? ", perguntou Pilatos. Ele disse isso e saiu novamente para onde estavam os judeus e disse: "Não acho nele motivo algum de acusação.
39 But it is a custom to you, that Y delyuere oon to you in pask; therfor wole ye that Y delyuere to you the kyng of Jewis?
39 Contudo, segundo o costume de vocês, devo libertar um prisioneiro por ocasião da Páscoa. Querem que eu solte ‘o rei dos judeus’? "
40 Alle crieden eftsoone, and seiden, Not this, but Baraban. And Barabas was a theef.
40 Eles, em resposta, gritaram: "Não, ele não! Queremos Barrabás! " Ora, Barrabás era um bandido.
