1 Crye thou, ceesse thou not; as a trumpe enhaunse thi vois, and schewe thou to my puple her grete trespassis, and to the hous of Jacob her synnes.
1 O Senhor Deus diz: “Grite com toda a força, sem parar! Grite alto, como se você fosse trombeta! Anuncie ao meu povo, os descendentes de Jacó, os seus pecados e as suas maldades.
2 For thei seken me fro dai in to dai, and thei wolen knowe my weies; as a folk, that hath do riytfulnesse, and that hath not forsake the doom of her God; thei preien me domes of riytfulnesse, and wolen neiy to God.
2 De fato, eles me adoram todos os dias e dizem que querem saber qual é a minha vontade, como se fossem um povo que faz o que é direito e que não desobedece às minhas Pedem que eu lhes dê leis justas e estão sempre prontos para me adorar.”
3 Whi fastiden we, and thou biheldist not; we mekiden oure soulis, and thou knewist not? Lo! youre wille is foundun in the dai of youre fastyng, and ye axen alle youre dettouris.
3 O povo pergunta a Deus: “Que adianta jejuar, se tu nem notas? Por que passar fome, se não te importas com isso?” O “A verdade é que nos dias de jejum vocês cuidam dos seus negócios e exploram os seus empregados.
4 Lo! ye fasten to chidyngis and stryuyngis, and smyten with the fist wickidli. Nyl ye fast, as `til to this dai, that youre cry be herd an hiy.
4 Vocês passam os dias de jejum discutindo e brigando e chegam até a bater uns nos outros. Será que vocês pensam que, quando jejuam assim, eu vou ouvir as suas orações?
5 Whether sich is the fastyng which Y chees, a man to turmente his soule bi dai? whether to bynde his heed as a sercle, and to make redi a sak and aische? Whethir thou schalt clepe this a fastyng, and a dai acceptable to the Lord?
5 O que é que eu quero que vocês façam nos dias de jejum? Será que desejo que passem fome, que se curvem como um bambu, que vistam roupa feita de pano grosseiro e se deitem em cima de cinzas? É isso o que vocês chamam de jejum? Acham que um dia de jejum assim me agrada?
6 Whether not this is more the fastyng, which Y chees? Vnbynde thou the byndingis togidere of vnpitee, releesse thou birthuns pressynge doun; delyuere thou hem free, that ben brokun, and breke thou ech birthun.
6 “Não! Não é esse o jejum que eu quero. Eu quero que soltem aqueles que foram presos injustamente, que tirem de cima deles o peso que os faz sofrer, que ponham em liberdade os que estão sendo oprimidos, que acabem com todo tipo de escravidão.
7 Breke thi breed to an hungri man, and brynge in to thin hous nedi men and herborles; whanne thou seest a nakid man, hile thou hym, and dispise not thi fleisch.
7 O jejum que me agrada é que vocês repartam a sua comida com os famintos, que recebam em casa os pobres que estão desabrigados, que deem roupas aos que não têm e que nunca deixem de socorrer os seus parentes.
8 Thanne thi liyt schal breke out as the morewtid, and thin helthe schal rise ful soone; and thi riytfulnesse schal go bifore thi face, and the glorie of the Lord schal gadere thee.
8 “Então a luz da minha salvação brilhará como o sol, e logo vocês todos ficarão curados. O seu Salvador os guiará, e a presença do
9 Thanne thou schalt clepe to help, and the Lord schal here; thou schalt crie, and he schal seie, Lo! Y am present, for Y am merciful, thi Lord God. If thou takist awei a chayne fro the myddis of thee, and ceessist to holde forth the fyngur, and to speke that profitith not;
9 Quando vocês gritarem pedindo socorro, eu os atenderei; pedirão a minha ajuda, e eu direi: ‘Estou aqui!’ “Se acabarem com todo tipo de exploração, com todas as ameaças e xingamentos;
10 whanne thou schedist out thi soule to an hungri man, and fillist a soule, `that is turmentid, thi liyt schal rise in derknessis, and thi derknessis schulen be as myddai.
10 se derem de comer aos famintos e socorrerem os necessitados, a luz da minha salvação brilhará, e a escuridão em que vocês vivem ficará igual à luz do meio-dia.
11 And the Lord thi God schal yyue euere reste to thee, and schal fille thi soule with schynyngis, and schal delyuere thi boonys; and thou schalt be as a watri gardyn, and as a welle of watris, whose waters schulen not faile.
11 Eu, o Senhor , sempre os guiarei; até mesmo no deserto, eu lhes darei de comer e farei com que fiquem sãos e fortes. Vocês serão como um jardim bem-regado, como uma fonte de onde não para de correr água.
12 And the forsakun thingis of worldis schulen be bildid in thee, and thou schalt reise the foundementis of generacioun and generacioun; and thou schalt be clepid a bildere of heggis, turnynge awei the pathis of wickidnessis.
12 Em cima dos alicerces antigos, vocês reconstruirão cidades que tinham sido arrasadas. Vocês serão conhecidos como o povo que levantou muralhas de novo, que construiu novamente casas que tinham caído.”
13 If thou turnest awei thi foot fro the sabat, to do thi wille in myn hooli dai, and clepist the sabat delicat, and hooli, the gloriouse of the Lord, and glorifiest him, while thou doist not thi weies, and thi wille is not foundun, that thou speke a word;
13 O Senhor Deus diz: “Obedeçam às não cuidem dos seus próprios negócios no dia que para mim é sagrado. Considerem o sábado como um dia de festa, o dia santo do Guardem o sábado, descansando em vez de trabalhar; não cuidem dos seus negócios, nem fiquem conversando à toa.
14 thanne thou schalt delite on the Lord, and Y schal reise thee on the hiynesse of erthe, and Y schal fede thee with the eritage of Jacob, thi fadir; for whi the mouth of the Lord spak.
14 Se me obedecerem, eu serei uma fonte de alegria para vocês e farei com que vençam todas as dificuldades; e vocês serão felizes na terra que eu dei ao seu antepassado Jacó. Eu, o
