1 And now, Jacob, my seruaunt, here thou, and Israel, whom I chees.
1 O Senhor Deus diz: “Escute, Israel, pois você é o meu o povo que eu escolhi!
2 The Lord makynge and foryyuynge thee, thin helpere fro the wombe, seith these thingis, My seruaunt, Jacob, nyle thou drede, and thou moost riytful, whom Y chees.
2 Eu, o Senhor , sou o seu Criador e o tenho ajudado desde o dia em que você nasceu. Israel, meu servo, não fique com medo, pois eu o amo e o escolhi para ser meu.
3 For Y schal schede out watris on the thirsti, and floodis on the dry lond; Y schal schede out my spirit on thi seed, and my blessyng on thi generacioun.
3 Vou fazer com que caia chuva no deserto e com que em terras secas corram rios. Assim também derramarei o meu Espírito sobre os seus descendentes e lhes darei as minhas bênçãos.
4 And thei schulen buriowne among erbis, as salewis bisidis rennynge watris.
4 Eles crescerão como a grama bem-regada, como chorões que nascem na beira dos rios.
5 This man schal seie, Y am of the Lord, and he schal clepe in the name of Jacob; and this man schal write with his hoond to the Lord, and schal be licned in the name of Israel.
5 “Muitos se juntarão ao povo de Deus. Um dirá assim: ‘Eu sou do outro dirá: ‘o meu nome é Jacó’; outro ainda escreverá na sua mão: ‘Eu pertenço ao e ainda outro usará Israel como sobrenome.”
6 The Lord, kyng of Israel, and ayenbiere therof, the Lord of oostis seith these thingis, Y am the firste and Y am the laste, and with outen me is no God.
6 O Senhor , o Rei e Salvador de Israel, o Deus Todo-Poderoso, diz: “Eu sou o primeiro e o último, além de mim não há outro deus.
7 Who is lijk me? clepe he, and telle, and declare ordre to me, sithen Y made elde puple; telle he to hem thingis to comynge, and that schulen be.
7 Haverá outro que seja igual a mim? Pois que venha à minha presença, apresente as suas razões e prove que está dizendo a verdade. Quem anunciou tudo o que ia acontecer? Já houve alguém que desde o princípio sempre pudesse contar as coisas do futuro?
8 Nyle ye drede, nether be ye disturblid; fro that tyme Y made thee for to here, and Y telde; ye ben my witnessis. Whethir a God is with out me, and a formere, whom Y knew not?
8 Meu povo, não tenha medo, nem fique apavorado! Não é verdade que desde o princípio eu sempre anunciei a vocês o que ia acontecer? Vocês são minhas testemunhas de que isso é verdade. Será que há outro deus além de mim? Não! Não existe outro protetor; eu não conheço nenhum.”
9 Alle the fourmeris of an idol ben no thing, and the moost louyd thingis of hem schulen not profite; thei ben witnessis of tho, that tho seen not, nether vndurstonden, that thei be schent.
9 Os que fazem imagens não prestam, e os seus deuses, que eles tanto amam, não valem nada. Os que adoram imagens são tolos e cegos e por isso serão humilhados.
10 Who fourmyde a god, and yetide an ymage, not profitable to ony thing?
10 É uma grande tolice fazer uma imagem para ser adorada como se fosse um deus.
11 Lo! alle the parteneris therof schulen be schent; for the smythis ben of men. Whanne alle schulen come, thei schulen stonde, and schulen drede, and schulen be schent togidere.
11 Todos os que a adorarem serão humilhados. Os que fazem ídolos são apenas seres humanos; nada mais. Que eles se reúnam e se apresentem no tribunal! Ali ficarão apavorados e serão humilhados.
12 A smith wrouyte with a file; he fourmyde it in coolis, and in hameris, and he wrouyte with the arm of his strengthe. He schal be hungri, and he schal faile; he schal not drynke watre, and he schal be feynt.
12 O ferreiro pega um pedaço de metal, coloca nas brasas e depois com toda a força vai batendo nele com o martelo até formar a imagem. Ele trabalha tanto, que não come, nem bebe e acaba perdendo as forças.
13 A carpenter stretchide forth a reule, he fourmyde it with an adese; he made it in the corner places, and he turnede it in cumpas; and he made the ymage of a man, as a fair man, dwellynge in the hous.
13 O escultor mede um pedaço de madeira e com um giz desenha nele a figura do ídolo. Depois, com as suas ferramentas, ele faz uma estátua com a forma de um belo ser humano, para ser colocada num templo.
14 He kittide doun cedris, he took an hawthorn, and an ook, that stood among the trees of the forest; he plauntide a pyne apple tre, which he nurschide with reyn,
14 O escultor vai à floresta para cortar uma árvore; escolhe um cedro, um cipreste ou um carvalho. Ele só corta árvores bem grossas ou então planta uma e espera até que a chuva a faça crescer.
15 and it was maad in to fier to men. He took of tho, and was warmed, and he brente, and bakide looues; but of the residue he wrouyte a god, and worschipide it, and he made a grauun ymage, and he was bowid bifore that.
15 O homem usa uma parte da madeira para fazer um fogo; ali ele se esquenta e também assa o pão. A outra parte da madeira é usada para fazer uma imagem; e o homem fica de joelhos e a adora.
16 He brente the myddil therof with fier, and of the myddil therof he sethide fleischis, and eet; he sethide potage, and was fillid; and he was warmed, and he seide, Wel!
16 Assim metade da madeira serve para fazer um fogo; o homem assa a carne, come e fica satisfeito. Também se esquenta e diz: “Que fogo bom! Já me esquentei bem!”
17 Y am warmed; Y siy fier. Forsothe the residue therof he made a god, and a grauun ymage to hym silf; he is bowide bifore that, and worschipith that, and bisechith, and seith, Delyuere thou me, for thou art my god.
17 Com a outra metade da madeira, o homem faz uma imagem, isto é, um deus; depois, fica de joelhos e a adora. E faz esta oração: “Tu és o meu deus; salva-me!”
18 Thei knewen not, nether vndurstoden, for thei han foryete, that her iye se not, and that thei vndurstonde not with her herte.
18 Essa gente não tem juízo. Eles fecharam os olhos e não podem ver nada; fecharam também a sua mente e não entendem nada.
19 Thei bythenken not in her soule, nether thei knowen, nether thei feelen, that thei seie, Y brente the myddil therof in fier, and Y bakide looues on the coolis therof, and Y sethide fleischis, and eet; and of the residue therof schal Y make an idol? schal Y falle doun bifore the stok of a tree?
19 O homem que faz imagens não entende nada e não tem a inteligência necessária para dizer a si mesmo: “Ora, com metade dessa madeira eu fiz um fogo; assei o pão, assei a carne e comi. E com a outra metade eu fiz esta imagem nojenta. Agora, aqui estou eu, adorando um pedaço de madeira!”
20 A part therof is aische; an vnwijs herte schal worschipe it, and he schal not delyuere his soule, nether he schal seie, A strong leesyng is in my riythond.
20 Adorar uma imagem não adianta nada; é o mesmo que comer cinzas. O homem que adora imagens não pensa direito, mas vive enganado. Ele não pode se salvar, pois não é capaz de dizer: “Isto que está na minha mão não é um deus coisa nenhuma.”
21 Thou, Jacob, and Israel, haue mynde of these thingis, for thou art my seruaunt; Y formyde thee, Israel, thou art my seruaunt; thou schalt not foryete me.
21 O Senhor Deus diz: “Povo de Israel, lembre disto! Não esqueça que você é o meu Eu o criei para que me servisse e nunca esquecerei você.
22 Y dide awei thi wickidnessis as a cloude, and thi synnes as a myist; turne thou ayen to me, for Y ayenbouyte thee.
22 Já perdoei as suas maldades e os seus pecados; eles desapareceram como desaparece a cerração. Volte para mim, pois eu sou o seu Salvador.”
23 Ye heuenes, herie, for the Lord hath do merci; the laste partis of erth, synge ye hertli song; hillis, sowne ye preisyng; the forest and ech tre therof, herie God; for the Lord ayenbouyte Jacob, and Israel schal haue glorie.
23 Ó céus, gritem de alegria por causa daquilo que o Cantem louvores, lugares profundos da terra! Montanhas e florestas, com as suas árvores, cantem todos de alegria! Pois o e assim mostrou a sua grandeza.
24 The Lord, thin ayenbiere, and thi fourmere fro the wombe, seith these thingis, Y am the Lord, makynge alle thingis, and Y aloone stretche forth heuenes, and stablische the erthe, and noon is with me;
24 O Senhor , o Salvador de Israel, diz: “Meu povo, eu sou o seu Criador; antes que você tivesse nascido, eu já o havia criado. Sozinho, eu criei todas as coisas; estendi os céus e firmei a terra sem a ajuda de ninguém.
25 and Y make voide the signes of false dyuynours, and Y turne in to woodnesse dyuynours, that dyuynen by sacrifices offrid to feendis; and Y turne wise men bacward, and Y make her science fonned.
25 Eu não deixo que se cumpram as mensagens de profetas mentirosos e faço com que os adivinhos fiquem parecendo tolos. Faço com que os sábios se enganem e transformo toda a sua sabedoria em tolice.
26 And the Lord reisith the word of his seruaunt, and fillith the councel of hise messangeris; and Y seie, Jerusalem, thou schalt be enhabitid; and to the citees of Juda, Ye schulen be bildid, and Y schal reise the desertis therof;
26 Mas eu faço com que se cumpra a mensagem do meu servo e com que as palavras dos meus mensageiros aconteçam. Prometo que Jerusalém terá moradores novamente e que as cidades de Judá serão reconstruídas. Farei com que elas se levantem do meio das suas ruínas.
27 and Y seie to the depthe, Be thou desolat, and Y shal make drie thi floodis;
27 Basta que eu dê uma ordem, e o mar seca, e os rios ficam sem água.
28 and Y seie to Cirus, Thou art my scheepherde, and thou schalt fille al my wille; and Y seie to Jerusalem, Thou schalt be bildid; and to the temple, Thou schalt be foundid.
28 Sou eu quem diz a Ciro : “Você governará em meu nome e fará o que eu quero. Você ordenará que Jerusalém seja reconstruída e que sejam postos os alicerces do novo Templo.”
