1 Iles, be stille to me, and folkis chaunge strengthe; neiye thei, and thanne speke thei; neiye we togidere to doom.
1 O Senhor Deus diz: “Povos das nações distantes, calem-se e escutem! Renovem as suas forças e venham prontos para defender a sua causa. Vamos nos reunir para resolver com quem está a razão.
2 Who reiside the iust man fro the eest, and clepide hym to sue hym silf? He schal yyue folkis in his siyt, and he schal welde kyngis; he schal yyue as dust to his swerd, and as stobil `that is rauyschid of the wynd, to his bowe.
2 “Quem foi que trouxe do Oriente esse rei que sempre sai vitorioso? Quem fez com que ele derrotasse as nações e com que reis fossem vencidos por ele? Com a sua espada e as suas flechas, ele os faz virar pó e faz com que fujam como se fossem a palha que é levada pelo vento.
3 He schal pursue hem, he schal go in pees; a path schal not appere in hise feet.
3 Ele os persegue e avança seguro; ele anda tão depressa, que os seus pés quase não tocam no chão.
4 Who wrouyte and dide these thingis? clepynge generaciouns at the bigynnyng. Y am the Lord; and Y am the firste and the laste.
4 Quem planejou isso e fez com que tudo acontecesse? Quem resolveu o que se passaria no mundo desde o princípio? Fui eu, o que estava lá quando tudo começou e que lá estarei quando tudo terminar.”
5 Ilis sien, and dredden; the laste partis of erthe were astonyed; thei camen niy, and neiyiden.
5 As nações distantes viram o que aconteceu, e todos os povos tremeram de medo. Então se juntaram e vieram.
6 Ech man schal helpe his neiybore, and schal seie to his brother, Be thou coumfortid.
6 Os que fazem imagens se ajudam uns aos outros, cada um procura animar o seu companheiro.
7 A smyth of metal smytynge with an hamer coumfortide him that polischyde, ethir made fair, in that tyme, seiynge, It is good, to glu; and he fastenede hym with nailis, that he schulde not be mouyd.
7 O escultor anima o ourives; aquele que bate o ferro com o martelo elogia o que solda o ídolo. E diz: “Que trabalho bem-feito!” E com pregos fixam a imagem no lugar para que não caia.
8 And thou, Israel, my seruaunte, Jacob, whom Y chees, the seed of Abraham, my frend, in whom Y took thee;
8 O Senhor diz ao povo de Israel: “Você é o meu o povo que eu escolhi; vocês são descendentes de Abraão, meu amigo.
9 fro the laste partis of erthe, and fro the fer partis therof Y clepide thee; and Y seide to thee, Thou art my seruaunt; Y chees thee, and castide not awei thee.
9 Eu os trouxe dos fins da terra, dos lugares mais distantes do mundo, e lhes disse: ‘Vocês são os meus servos.’ Eu os escolhi e nunca os rejeitei.
10 Drede thou not, for Y am with thee; boowe thou not awei, for Y am thi God. Y coumfortide thee, and helpide thee; and the riythond of my iust man vp took thee.
10 Não fiquem com medo, pois estou com vocês; não se apavorem, pois eu sou o seu Deus. Eu lhes dou forças e os ajudo; eu os protejo com a minha forte mão.
11 Lo! alle men schulen be schent, and schulen be aschamed, that fiyten ayens thee; thei schulen be as if thei ben not, and men schulen perische, that ayen seien thee.
11 “Todos os seus inimigos serão derrotados e humilhados; todos os que lutam contra vocês serão destruídos e morrerão.
12 Thou schalt seke hem, and thou schalt not fynde thi rebel men; thei schulen be, as if thei ben not, and as the wastyng of a man fiytynge ayens thee.
12 Se vocês procurarem os seus inimigos, não os acharão, pois todos eles terão desaparecido.
13 For Y am thi Lord God, takynge thin hond, and seiynge to thee, Drede thou not, Y helpide thee.
13 Eu sou o Senhor , o Deus de vocês; eu os seguro pela mão e lhes digo: ‘Não fiquem com medo, pois eu os ajudo.’ ”
14 Nyle thou, worm of Jacob, drede, ye that ben deed of Israel. Y helpide thee, seith the Lord, and thin ayen biere, the hooli of Israel.
14 O Senhor diz ao seu povo: “Você é pequeno e fraquinho, mas não tenha medo, pois eu, o Santo Deus de Israel, sou o seu Salvador e o protegerei.
15 Y haue set thee as a newe wayn threischynge, hauynge sawynge bilis; thou schalt threische mounteyns, and schalt make smal, and thou schalt sette litle hillis as dust.
15 Farei com que você seja como uma máquina de debulhar trigo, que tem pontas de ferro novas e afiadas: você passará sobre os montes, eles virarão pó, e as montanhas ficarão como palha.
16 Thou schalt wyndewe hem, and the wynd schal take hem awei, and a whirlewynd schal scatere hem; and thou schalt make ful out ioie in the Lord, and thou schalt be glad in the hooli of Israel.
16 Você os jogará para cima, o vento os levará, e a ventania os espalhará. Então você ficará alegre porque eu, o e você louvará a mim, o Santo Deus de Israel.
17 Nedi men and pore seken watris, and tho ben not; the tunge of hem driede for thirst. Y the Lord schal here hem, I God of Israel schal not forsake hem.
17 “Quando o meu povo, pobre e necessitado, procurar água e não encontrar; quando a boca deles estiver seca de sede, eu, o eu, o Deus de Israel, não os abandonarei.
18 Y schal opene floodis in hiy hillis, and wellis in the myddis of feeldis; Y schal sette the desert in to poondis of watris, and the lond without weie in to ryuers of watris.
18 Farei com que brotem fontes nos vales e com que rios corram pelas montanhas onde não há plantas. Farei com que os desertos virem lagos e com que nas terras secas haja muitos poços.
19 Y schal yyue in wildirnesse a cedre, and a thorn, and a myrte tre, and the tre of an olyue; Y schal sette in the desert a fir tre, an elm, and a box tre togidere.
19 Plantarei árvores no deserto: cedros, acácias, nas terras secas, farei crescer pinheiros, junto com os zimbros e ciprestes.
20 That thei se, and knowe, and bithenke, and vndurstonde togidere; that the hond of the Lord dide this thing, and the hooli of Israel made that of nouyt.
20 Todos verão o que aconteceu e ficarão sabendo que fui eu, o Todos pensarão bem e entenderão que tudo isso foi feito pelo Santo Deus de Israel.”
21 Make ye niy youre doom, seith the Lord; brynge ye, if in hap ye han ony thing, seith the kyng of Jacob.
21 O Senhor , o Rei de Israel, diz: “Deuses das nações, venham apresentar a sua causa e fazer a sua defesa.
22 Neiy tho, and telle to vs, what euer thingis schulen come; telle ye the formere thingis that weren, and we schulen sette oure herte, and schulen wite; schewe ye to vs the laste thingis of hem, and tho thingis that schulen come.
22 Venham e nos digam o que vai acontecer; expliquem também as para que nós fiquemos sabendo se elas se cumpriram. Ou então digam o que vai acontecer no futuro, e assim nós poderemos ver se vai dar certo.
23 Telle ye what thingis schulen come in tyme to comynge, and we schulen wite, that ye ben goddis; al so do ye wel, ethir yuele, if ye moun; and speke we, and see we togidere.
23 Anunciem as coisas que vão acontecer daqui em diante a fim de provar que vocês são deuses de fato. Façam o que quiserem, seja bom ou seja mau, para que fiquemos com medo e cheios de pavor.
24 Lo! ye ben of nouyt, and youre werk is of that that is not; he that chees you, is abhomynacioun.
24 Mas vocês não são nada! Vocês não podem fazer nada! Eu detesto aqueles que os adoram!
25 I reiside fro the north, and he schal come fro the risyng of the sunne; he schal clepe my name. And he schal brynge magistratis as cley, and as a pottere defoulynge erthe.
25 “Fui eu que chamei um homem que mora no Oriente ; ele confia em mim e vem do Norte para atacar os seus inimigos. Ele pisa em cima de reis como se fossem lama; ele os trata como um oleiro que amassa o barro com os pés.
26 Who tolde fro the bigynnyng, that we wite, and fro the bigynnyng, that we seie, Thou art iust? noon is tellynge, nether biforseiynge, nether herynge youre wordis.
26 Será que algum de vocês anunciou que isso ia acontecer, para que nós ficássemos sabendo? Algum deus falou disso no passado para que nós disséssemos: ‘Ele tinha razão’? Nenhuma imagem anunciou nada a respeito disso, nenhuma nos avisou; não ouvimos vocês dizerem nem uma só palavra.
27 The firste schal seie to Sion, Lo! Y am present; and Y schal yyue a gospellere to Jerusalem.
27 Pois eu anunciei isso a Sião desde o começo, eu mandei um mensageiro espalhar essas boas notícias em Jerusalém.
28 And Y siy, and noon was of these, that token councel, and he that was axid, answeride a word.
28 Eu procuro os deuses, mas nenhum deles aparece; nenhum deles pode dar explicações ou responder às perguntas que faço.
29 Lo! alle men ben vniust, and her werkis ben wynd and veyn; the symylacris of hem ben wynd, and voide thing.
29 Eles não são nada! Eles não podem fazer nada! Essas imagens são coisas sem vida e sem valor.”
