1 On my kepyng Y schal stonde, and schal pitche a grees on wardyng; and Y schal biholde, that Y se what thing schal be seid to me, and what Y schal answere to hym that repreuith me.
1 Vou subir a minha torre de vigia e vou esperar com atenção o que Deus vai dizer e como vai responder à minha queixa.
2 And the Lord answeride to me, and seide, Write thou the reuelacioun, and make it pleyn on tablis, that he renne, that schal rede it.
2 E o Senhor Deus disse: “Escreva em tábuas a visão que você vai ter, escreva com clareza o que vou lhe mostrar, para que possa ser lido com facilidade.
3 For yit the visioun is fer, and it schal appere in to ende, and schal not lie; if it schal make dwellyng, abide thou it, for it comynge schal come, and schal not tarie.
3 Ainda não chegou o tempo certo para que a visão se cumpra; porém ela se cumprirá sem falta. O tempo certo vai chegar logo; portanto, espere, ainda que pareça demorar, pois a visão virá no momento exato.
4 Lo! the soule of hym, that is vnbileueful, schal not be riytful in hym silf; forsothe the iust man schal lyue in his feith.
4 A mensagem é esta: Os maus não terão segurança, mas as pessoas corretas viverão por serem fiéis a Deus.”
5 And as wyn disseyueth a man drynkynge, so schal the proude man be, and he schal not be maad feir; for as helle he alargide his soule, and he is as deth, and he is not fillid; and he schal gadere to hym alle folkis, and he shal kepe togidere to hym alle puplis.
5 De fato, a riqueza engana, e as pessoas orgulhosas nunca têm sossego. A sua ganância não tem fim. Elas nunca estão satisfeitas: como o mundo dos mortos , sempre querem mais.
6 Whether not alle these puplis schulen take a parable on hym, and the speking of derk sentencis of hym? And it schal be seid, Wo to hym that multiplieth thingis not his owne; hou longe, and he aggreggith ayens hym silf thicke clei?
6 Mas os povos conquistados desprezam os babilônios e zombam deles, dizendo: “Ai de vocês que ficam ricos pegando coisas que não lhes pertencem! Até quando vão enriquecer obrigando os seus devedores a pagarem as dívidas?”
7 Whether not sudeynli thei schulen rise to gidere, that schulen bite thee? And thei schulen be reisid to-teerynge thee, and thou schalt be in to raueyn to hem; and thin aspieris in yuel schulen wake.
7 De repente, vocês, os babilônios, serão os devedores; aí os seus credores os forçarão a pagar as dívidas e com juros. Eles vão atacá-los, e vocês ficarão com medo; eles levarão embora tudo o que é de vocês.
8 For thou robbidist many folkis, alle schulen robbe thee, whiche schulen be left of puplis, for blood of man, and for wickidnesse of lond of the citee, and of alle men dwellynge in it.
8 Vocês roubaram as riquezas dos povos de muitos países, e agora eles vão fazer o mesmo com vocês. Vocês vão pagar pelos crimes e pelas violências que cometeram contra os povos do mundo e contra as suas cidades.
9 Wo to hym that gaderith yuel coueitise to his hous, that his nest be in hiy, and gessith hym for to be delyuered of the hond of yuel.
9 Ai de você, babilônio cruel, que encheu a sua casa com o que roubou dos outros! Com isso, você quis se proteger de todo perigo e escapar dos seus inimigos.
10 Thou thouytist confusioun to thin hous; thou hast slayn many puplis, and thi soule synnede.
10 Mas os seus planos trouxeram vergonha para a sua família, e, ao destruir muitos povos, você pôs a sua própria vida em perigo.
11 For a stoon of the wal schal crie, and a tree that is bitwixe ioynturis of bildyngis schal answere.
11 Até as pedras das paredes e a madeira das vigas gritam contra você!
12 Wo to hym that bildith a citee in bloodis, and makith redi a citee in wickidnesse.
12 Ai de você, pois construiu a sua cidade sobre um alicerce de crime e de injustiças!
13 Whether not these thingis ben of the Lord of oostis? For puplis schulen trauele in myche fier, and folkis in veyn, and thei schulen faile.
13 Todo o trabalho forçado dos povos que você conquistou não vai adiantar nada, e o que eles construíram vai ser destruído pelo fogo. Foi o Senhor Todo-Poderoso quem fez isso.
14 For the erthe schal be fillid, that it knowe the glorie of the Lord, as watris hilynge the see.
14 E a terra ficará cheia do conhecimento da glória do Senhor , assim como as águas enchem o mar.
15 Wo to hym that yyueth drynk to his frend, and sendith his galle, and makith drunkun, that he biholde his nakidnesse.
15 Ai de você, pois dá ao seu companheiro vinho misturado com drogas! Ele fica bêbado, tira a roupa, e todos o veem nu .
16 He is fillid with yuel fame for glorie; and thou drynke, and be aslept; the cuppe of the riythalf of the Lord schal cumpasse thee, and `castynge vp of yuel fame on thi glorie.
16 É você que vai perder a sua honra e ficar coberto de vergonha. Pois o Senhor vai fazer você beber do copo da sua ira , e você também ficará bêbado. Em vez de receber homenagens, você será humilhado.
17 For the wickidnesse of Liban schal kyuere thee, and distruccioun of beestis schal make hem aferd, of bloodis of man, and of wickidnesse of lond, and of the citee, and of alle men dwellynge ther ynne.
17 Você destruiu as árvores dos montes Líbanos e agora será destruído; você matou os animais e agora vai ficar com medo deles. Isso acontecerá por causa dos crimes e das violências que você cometeu contra os povos do mundo e contra as suas cidades.
18 What profitith the `grauun ymage, for his makere grauyde it, a wellid thing togidere and fals ymage? for the makere therof hopide in makyng, that he made doumbe symylacris.
18 Que valor tem um ídolo? Um ídolo não é mais do que uma imagem feita por um homem e que só serve para enganar. Os ídolos não podem falar; como é que alguém pode confiar num ídolo que ele mesmo fez?
19 Wo to hym that seith to a tre, Wake thou; Rise thou, to a stoon beynge stille; whether he schal mow teche? Lo! this is kyuerid with gold and siluer, and no spirit is in his entrails.
19 Ai de você que diz a um ídolo de madeira: “Acorde!” e que ordena a um ídolo de pedra: “Fique de pé!” Será que um ídolo pode entregar alguma mensagem? Não! Não pode. Ele está todo coberto de ouro e de prata, mas é uma coisa morta.
20 Forsothe the Lord is in his hooli temple, al erthe be stille fro his face.
20 O Senhor está no seu santo Templo; que todos se calem na sua presença.
