1 For the lawe hauinge a schadewe of good thingis `that ben to come, not the ilke image of thingis, mai neuer make men neiyinge perfit bi the ilke same sacrifices, which thei offren without ceessing bi alle yeeris;
1 A Lei traz apenas uma sombra dos benefícios que hão de vir, e não a realidade dos mesmos. Por isso ela nunca consegue, mediante os mesmos sacrifícios repetidos ano após ano, aperfeiçoar os que se aproximam para adorar.
2 ellis thei schulden haue ceessid to be offrid, for as myche as the worschiperis clensid onys, hadden not ferthermore conscience of synne.
2 Se pudesse fazê-lo, não deixariam de ser oferecidos? Pois os adoradores, tendo sido purificados uma vez por todas, não mais se sentiriam culpados de seus pecados.
3 But in hem mynde of synnes is maad bi alle yeris.
3 Contudo, esses sacrifícios são uma recordação anual dos pecados,
4 For it is impossible that synnes be doon awei bi blood of boolis, and of buckis of geet.
4 pois é impossível que o sangue de touros e bodes tire pecados.
5 Therfor he entrynge in to the world, seith, Thou woldist not sacrifice and offryng; but thou hast schapun a bodi to me;
5 Por isso, quando Cristo veio ao mundo, disse: "Sacrifício e oferta não quiseste, mas um corpo me preparaste;
6 brent sacrificis also for synne plesiden not to thee.
6 de holocaustos e ofertas pelo pecado não te agradaste".
7 Thanne Y seide, Lo! Y come; in the bigynnyng of the book it is writun of me, that Y do thi wille, God.
7 Então eu disse: Aqui estou, no livro está escrito a meu respeito; vim para fazer a tua vontade, ó Deus.
8 He seiynge bifor, That thou woldist not sacrificis, and offringis, and brent sacrifices for synne, ne tho thingis ben plesaunt to thee, whiche ben offrid bi the lawe,
8 Primeiro ele disse: "Sacrifícios, ofertas, holocaustos e ofertas pelo pecado não quiseste, nem deles te agradaste" ( os quais eram feitos conforme a Lei ).
9 thanne Y seide, Lo! Y come, that Y do thi wille, God. He doith awei the firste, that he make stidfast the secounde.
9 Então acrescentou: "Aqui estou; vim para fazer a tua vontade". Ele cancela o primeiro para estabelecer o segundo.
10 In which wille we ben halewid bi the offring of the bodi of Crist Jhesu onys.
10 Pelo cumprimento dessa vontade fomos santificados, por meio do sacrifício do corpo de Jesus Cristo, oferecido uma vez por todas.
11 And ech prest is redi mynystrynge ech dai, and ofte tymes offringe the same sacrifices, whiche moun neuere do awei synnes.
11 Dia após dia, todo sacerdote apresenta-se e exerce os seus deveres religiosos; repetidamente oferece os mesmos sacrifícios, que nunca podem remover os pecados.
12 But this man offringe o sacrifice for synnes, for euere more sittith in the riythalf of God the fadir;
12 Mas quando este sacerdote acabou de oferecer, para sempre, um único sacrifício pelos pecados, assentou-se à direita de Deus.
13 fro thennus forth abidinge, til hise enemyes ben put a stool of hise feet.
13 Daí em diante, ele está esperando até que os seus inimigos sejam colocados como estrado dos seus pés;
14 For bi oon offring he made perfit for euere halewid men.
14 porque, por meio de um único sacrifício, ele aperfeiçoou para sempre os que estão sendo santificados.
15 And the Hooli Goost witnessith to vs; for aftir that he seide, This is the testament,
15 O Espírito Santo também nos testifica a este respeito. Primeiro ele diz:
16 which Y schal witnesse to hem after tho daies, the Lord seith, in yyuynge my lawes in the hertis of hem, and in the soulis of hem Y schal aboue write hem;
16 "Esta é a aliança que farei com eles, depois daqueles dias, diz o Senhor. Porei as minhas leis em seus corações e as escreverei em suas mentes";
17 and now Y schal no more thenke on the synnes and the wickidnessis of hem.
17 e acrescenta: "Dos seus pecados e iniqüidades não me lembrarei mais".
18 And where remyssioun of these is, now is ther noon offring for synne.
18 Onde essas coisas foram perdoadas, não há mais necessidade de sacrifício pelo pecado.
19 Therfor, britheren, hauynge trist in to the entring of hooli thingis in the blood of Crist,
19 Portanto, irmãos, temos plena confiança para entrar no Santo dos Santos pelo sangue de Jesus,
20 which halewide to vs a newe weie, and lyuynge bi the hiling, that is to seie,
20 por um novo e vivo caminho que ele nos abriu por meio do véu, isto é, do seu corpo.
21 his fleisch, and we hauynge the greet preest on the hous of God,
21 Temos, pois, um grande sacerdote sobre a casa de Deus.
22 neiye we with very herte in the plente of feith; and be oure hertis spreined fro an yuel conscience, and oure bodies waischun with clene watir,
22 Sendo assim, aproximemo-nos de Deus com um coração sincero e com plena convicção de fé, tendo os corações aspergidos para nos purificar de uma consciência culpada e tendo os nossos corpos lavados com água pura.
23 and holde we the confessioun of oure hope, bowinge to no side; for he is trewe that hath made the biheeste.
23 Apeguemo-nos com firmeza à esperança que professamos, pois aquele que prometeu é fiel.
24 And biholde we togidere in the stiring of charite and of good werkis; not forsakinge oure gadering togidere,
24 E consideremo-nos uns aos outros para incentivar-nos ao amor e às boas obras.
25 as it is of custom to sum men, but coumfortinge, and bi so myche the more, bi hou myche ye seen the dai neiyynge.
25 Não deixemos de reunir-nos como igreja, segundo o costume de alguns, mas encorajemo-nos uns aos outros, ainda mais quando vocês vêem que se aproxima o Dia.
26 Forwhi now a sacrifice for synnes is not left to vs, that synnen wilfuli, aftir that we han take the knowyng of treuthe.
26 Se continuarmos a pecar deliberadamente depois que recebemos o conhecimento da verdade, já não resta sacrifício pelos pecados,
27 Forwhi sum abiding of the dom is dreedful, and the suyng of fier, which schal waste aduersaries.
27 mas tão-somente uma terrível expectativa de juízo e de fogo intenso que consumirá os inimigos de Deus.
28 Who that brekith Moises lawe, dieth withouten ony merci, bi tweine or thre witnessis;
28 Quem rejeitava a lei de Moisés morria sem misericórdia pelo depoimento de duas ou três testemunhas.
29 hou myche more gessen ye, that he disserueth worse turmentis, which defouleth the sone of God, and holdith the blood of the testament pollut, in which he is halewid, and doith dispit to the spirit of grace?
29 Quão mais severo castigo, julgam vocês, merece aquele que pisou aos pés o Filho de Deus, que profanou o sangue da aliança pelo qual ele foi santificado, e insultou o Espírito da graça?
30 For we knowen him that seide, To me veniaunce, and Y schal yelde. And eft, For the Lord schal deme his puple.
30 Pois conhecemos aquele que disse: "A mim pertence a vingança; eu retribuirei"; e outra vez: "O Senhor julgará o seu povo".
31 It is ferdful to falle in to the hondis of God lyuynge.
31 Terrível coisa é cair nas mãos do Deus vivo!
32 And haue ye mynde on the formere daies, in which ye weren liytned, and suffriden greet strijf of passiouns.
32 Lembrem-se dos primeiros dias, depois que vocês foram iluminados, quando suportaram muita luta e muito sofrimento.
33 And in the `tothir ye weren maad a spectacle bi schenschipis and tribulaciouns; in an othir ye weren maad felowis of men lyuynge so.
33 Algumas vezes vocês foram expostos a insultos e tribulações; em outras ocasiões fizeram-se solidários com os que assim foram tratados.
34 For also to boundun men ye hadden compassioun, and ye resseyueden with ioye the robbyng of youre goodis, knowinge that ye han a betere and a dwellinge substaunce.
34 Vocês se compadeceram dos que estavam na prisão e aceitaram alegremente o confisco dos próprios bens, pois sabiam que possuíam bens superiores e permanentes.
35 Therfor nyle ye leese youre trist, which hath greet rewarding.
35 Por isso, não abram mão da confiança que vocês têm; ela será ricamente recompensada.
36 For pacience is nedeful to you, that ye do the wille of God, and bringe ayen the biheest.
36 Vocês precisam perseverar, de modo que, quando tiverem feito a vontade de Deus, recebam o que ele prometeu;
37 For yit a litil, and he that is to comynge schal come, and he schal not tarie.
37 pois em breve, muito em breve "Aquele que vem virá, e não demorará.
38 For my iust man lyueth of feith; that if he withdrawith hym silf, he schal not plese to my soule.
38 Mas o meu justo viverá pela fé. E, se retroceder, não me agradarei dele".
39 But we ben not the sones of withdrawing awei in to perdicioun, but of feith in to getynge of soule.
39 Nós, porém, não somos dos que retrocedem e são destruídos, mas dos que crêem e são salvos.
