1 Forsothe Abraham was eld, and of many daies, and the Lord hadde blessid hym in alle thingis.
1 E era Abraão já velho e adiantado em idade, e o SENHOR havia abençoado a Abraão em tudo.
2 And he seide to the eldere seruaunt of his hows, that was souereyn on alle thingis that he hadde, Put thou thin hond vndur myn hipe,
2 E disse Abraão ao seu servo, o mais velho da casa, que tinha o governo sobre tudo o que possuía: Põe agora a tua mão debaixo da minha coxa,
3 that Y coniure thee bi the Lord God of heuene and of erthe, that thou take not a wijf to my sone of the douytris of Chanaan, among whiche Y dwelle;
3 Para que eu te faça jurar pelo Senhor Deus dos céus e Deus da terra, que não tomarás para meu filho mulher das filhas dos cananeus, no meio dos quais eu habito.
4 but that thou go to my lond and kynrede, and therof take a wijf to my sone Ysaac.
4 Mas que irás à minha terra e à minha parentela, e dali tomarás mulher para meu filho Isaque.
5 The seruaunt aunswerde, If the womman nyle come with me in to this lond, whether Y owe lede ayen thi sone to the place, fro which thou yedist out?
5 E disse-lhe o servo: Se porventura não quiser seguir-me a mulher a esta terra, farei, pois, tornar o teu filho à terra donde saíste?
6 Abraham seide, Be war, lest ony tyme thou lede ayen thidur my sone;
6 E Abraão lhe disse: Guarda-te, que não faças lá tornar o meu filho.
7 the Lord of heuene that took me fro the hows of my fadir, and fro the lond of my birthe, which spak to me, and swoor, and seide, Y schal yyue this lond to thi seed, he schal sende his aungel bifore thee, and thou schalt take fro thennus a wijf to my sone; forsothe if the womman nyle sue thee,
7 O Senhor Deus dos céus, que me tomou da casa de meu pai e da terra da minha parentela, e que me falou, e que me jurou, dizendo: À tua descendência darei esta terra; ele enviará o seu anjo adiante da tua face, para que tomes mulher de lá para meu filho.
8 thou schalt not be holdun bi the ooth; netheles lede not ayen my sone thidur.
8 Se a mulher, porém, não quiser seguir-te, serás livre deste meu juramento; somente não faças lá tornar a meu filho.
9 Therfore the seruaunt puttide his hond vndur the hipe of Abraham, his lord, and swoor to him on this word.
9 Então pôs o servo a sua mão debaixo da coxa de Abraão seu senhor, e jurou-lhe sobre este negócio.
10 And he took ten camels of the floc of his lord, and yede forth, and bar with him of alle the goodis of his lord; and he yede forth, and cam to Mesopotanye, to the citee of Nachor.
10 E o servo tomou dez camelos, dos camelos do seu senhor, e partiu, pois que todos os bens de seu senhor estavam em sua mão, e levantou-se e partiu para Mesopotâmia, para a cidade de Naor.
11 And whanne he hadde maad the camels to reste with out the citee, bisidis the pit of watir, in the euentid, in that tyme in which wymmen ben wont to go out to drawe watir,
11 E fez ajoelhar os camelos fora da cidade, junto a um poço de água, pela tarde, ao tempo que as moças saíam a tirar água.
12 he seide, Lord God of my lord Abraham, Y biseche, meete with me to dai, and do mersi with my lord Abraham.
12 E disse: Ó Senhor, Deus de meu senhor Abraão, dá-me hoje bom encontro, e faze beneficência ao meu senhor Abraão!
13 Lo! Y stonde nyy the welle of watir, and the douytris of enhabiters of this citee schulen go out to drawe watir;
13 Eis que eu estou em pé junto à fonte de água e as filhas dos homens desta cidade saem para tirar água;
14 therfor the damysel to which Y schal seie, Bowe doun thi watir pot that Y drynke, and schal answere, Drynke thou, but also Y schal yyue drynke to thi camels, thilke it is which thou hast maad redi to thi seruaunt Ysaac; and bi this Y schal vndirstonde that thou hast do mersi with my lord Abraham.
14 Seja, pois, que a donzela, a quem eu disser: Abaixa agora o teu cântaro para que eu beba; e ela disser: Bebe, e também darei de beber aos teus camelos; esta seja a quem designaste ao teu servo Isaque, e que eu conheça nisso que usaste de benevolência com meu senhor.
15 And he hadde not yit fillid the wordis with ynne hym silf, and lo! Rebecca, the douytir of Batuel, sone of Melcha, wijf of Nachor, brothir of Abraham, yede out, hauynge a watir pot in hir schuldre;
15 E sucedeu que, antes que ele acabasse de falar, eis que Rebeca, que havia nascido a Betuel, filho de Milca, mulher de Naor, irmão de Abraão, saía com o seu cântaro sobre o seu ombro.
16 a damysel ful comeli, and faireste virgyn, and vnknowun of man. Sotheli sche cam doun to the welle, and fillide the watir pot, and turnide ayen.
16 E a donzela era mui formosa à vista, virgem, a quem homem não havia conhecido; e desceu à fonte, e encheu o seu cântaro e subiu.
17 And the seruaunt mette hir, and seide, Yyue thou to me a litil of the watir of thi pot to drynke.
17 Então o servo correu-lhe ao encontro, e disse: Peço-te, deixa-me beber um pouco de água do teu cântaro.
18 Which answerde, Drynke thou, my lord. And anoon sche dide doun the watir pot on hir schuldre, and yaf drynk to hym.
18 E ela disse: Bebe, meu senhor. E apressou-se e abaixou o seu cântaro sobre a sua mão e deu-lhe de beber.
19 And whanne he hadde drunke, sche addide, But also Y schal drawe watir to thi camelis, til alle drynken.
19 E, acabando ela de lhe dar de beber, disse: Tirarei também água para os teus camelos, até que acabem de beber.
20 And sche helde out the watir pot in trouyis, and ran ayen to the pit, to drawe watir, and sche yaf watir drawun to alle the camels.
20 E apressou-se, e despejou o seu cântaro no bebedouro, e correu outra vez ao poço para tirar água, e tirou para todos os seus camelos.
21 Sotheli he bihelde hir priueli, and wolde wite whether the Lord hadde sped his wei, ethir nay.
21 E o homem estava admirado de vê-la, calando-se, para saber se o Senhor havia prosperado a sua jornada ou não.
22 Therfor after that the camels drunken, the man brouyte forth goldun eere ryngis, weiynge twei siclis, and as many bies of the arm, in the weiyte of ten siclis.
22 E aconteceu que, acabando os camelos de beber, tomou o homem um pendente de ouro de meio siclo de peso, e duas pulseiras para as suas mãos, do peso de dez siclos de ouro;
23 And he seide to hir, Whos douyter art thou? schewe thou to me, is ony place in the hows of thi fadir to dwelle?
23 E disse: De quem és filha? Faze-mo saber, peço-te. Há também em casa de teu pai lugar para nós pousarmos?
24 Which answerde, Y am the douyter of Batuel, sone of Nachor, whom Melcha childide to him.
24 E ela lhe disse: Eu sou a filha de Betuel, filho de Milca, o qual ela deu a Naor.
25 And sche addide, seiynge, Also ful myche of prouendre and of hey is at vs, and a large place to dwelle.
25 Disse-lhe mais: Também temos palha e muito pasto, e lugar para passar a noite.
26 The man bowide hym silf,
26 Então inclinou-se aquele homem e adorou ao Senhor,
27 and worschipide the Lord, and seide, Blessid be the Lord God of my lord Abraham, which God took not aweie his mersy and treuthe fro my lord, and ledde me bi riyt weie in to the hous of the brother of my lord.
27 E disse: Bendito seja o SENHOR Deus de meu senhor Abraão, que não retirou a sua benevolência e a sua verdade de meu senhor; quanto a mim, o SENHOR me guiou no caminho à casa dos irmãos de meu senhor.
28 And so the damesel ran, and telde in the hous of hir modir alle thingis whiche sche hadde herd.
28 E a donzela correu, e fez saber estas coisas na casa de sua mãe.
29 Sotheli Rebecca hadde a brothir, Laban bi name, whiche yede out hastili to the man, where he was with out forth.
29 E Rebeca tinha um irmão cujo nome era Labão, o qual correu ao encontro daquele homem até a fonte.
30 And whanne he hadde seyn the eere ryngis and byes of the arm in the hondis of his sister, and hadde herd alle the wordis of hir tellynge, the man spak to me these thingis, he cam to the man that stood bisidis the camels, and nyy the welle of watir,
30 E aconteceu que, quando ele viu o pendente, e as pulseiras sobre as mãos de sua irmã, e quando ouviu as palavras de sua irmã Rebeca, que dizia: Assim me falou aquele homem; foi ter com o homem, que estava em pé junto aos camelos, à fonte,
31 and seide to him, Entre thou, the blessid of the Lord; whi stondist thou with outforth? I haue maad redi the hows, and a place to thi camels.
31 E disse: Entra, bendito do Senhor; por que estás fora? pois eu já preparei a casa, e o lugar para os camelos.
32 And he brouyte hym in to the ynne, and unsadlide the camels, and yaf prouendre, and hey, and watir to waische the feet of camels, and of men that camen with hym.
32 Então veio aquele homem à casa, e desataram os camelos, e deram palha e pasto aos camelos, e água para lavar os pés dele, e os pés dos homens que estavam com ele.
33 And breed was set forth in his siyt, which seide, Y schal not ete til Y speke my wordis. He answerde to the man, Speke thou.
33 Depois puseram comida diante dele. Ele, porém, disse: Não comerei, até que tenha dito as minhas palavras. E ele disse: Fala.
34 And the man seide, Y am the seruaunt of Abraham,
34 Então disse: Eu sou o servo de Abraão.
35 and the Lord hath blessid my lord greetli, and he is maad greet; and God yaf to hym scheep, and oxun, siluer, and gold, seruauntis, and handmaides, camels, and assis.
35 E o SENHOR abençoou muito o meu senhor, de maneira que foi engrandecido, e deu-lhe ovelhas e vacas, e prata e ouro, e servos e servas, e camelos e jumentos.
36 And Sare, `the wijf of my lord, childide a sone to my lord in his eelde, and he yaf alle thingis that he hadde to that sone.
36 E Sara, a mulher do meu senhor, deu à luz um filho a meu senhor depois da sua velhice, e ele deu-lhe tudo quanto tem.
37 And my lord chargide me greetli, and seide, Thou schalt not take to my sone a wijf of the douytris of Canaan, in whos lond Y dwelle,
37 E meu senhor me fez jurar, dizendo: Não tomarás mulher para meu filho das filhas dos cananeus, em cuja terra habito;
38 but thou schalt go to the hous of my fadir, and of myn kynrede thou schalt take a wijf to my sone.
38 Irás, porém, à casa de meu pai, e à minha família, e tomarás mulher para meu filho.
39 Forsothe Y answerde to my lord, What if the womman nyle come with me?
39 Então disse eu ao meu senhor: Porventura não me seguirá a mulher.
40 He seide, The Lord in whose siyt Y go, schal sende his aungel with thee, and he schal dresse thi weie; and thou schalt take a wijf to my sone of my kynrede, and of my fadris hows.
40 E ele me disse: O Senhor, em cuja presença tenho andado, enviará o seu anjo contigo, e prosperará o teu caminho, para que tomes mulher para meu filho da minha família e da casa de meu pai;
41 Thou schalt be innocent fro my curs, whanne thou comest to my kynesmen, and thei yyuen not `the womman to thee.
41 Então serás livre do meu juramento, quando fores à minha família; e se não te derem, livre serás do meu juramento.
42 Therfor Y cam to day to the welle of watir, and Y seide, Lord God of my lord Abraham, if thou hast dressid my weie in which Y go now, lo!
42 E hoje cheguei à fonte, e disse: Ó Senhor, Deus de meu senhor Abraão, se tu agora prosperas o meu caminho, no qual eu ando,
43 Y stonde bisidis the welle of watir, and the maide that schal go out to drawe watir herith me, yyue thou to me a litil of water to drynke of thi pot,
43 Eis que estou junto à fonte de água; seja, pois, que a donzela que sair para tirar água e à qual eu disser: Peço-te, dá-me um pouco de água do teu cântaro;
44 and seith to me, And thou drynke, and Y schal drawe watir to thi camels, thilke is the womman which the Lord hath maad redi to the sone of my lord.
44 E ela me disser: Bebe tu e também tirarei água para os teus camelos; esta seja a mulher que o SENHOR designou ao filho de meu senhor.
45 While Y turnede in thouyte these thingis with me, Rebecca apperide, comynge with a pot which sche bare in the schuldre; and sche yede doun to the welle, and drowe watir. And Y seide to hir, Yyue thou a litil to me to drynke; and sche hastide,
45 E antes que eu acabasse de falar no meu coração, eis que Rebeca saía com o seu cântaro sobre o seu ombro, desceu à fonte e tirou água; e eu lhe disse: Peço-te, dá-me de beber.
46 and dide doun the pot of the schuldre, and seide to me, And thou drynke, and Y schal yyue drynke to thi camels; Y drank, and watride the camels.
46 E ela se apressou, e abaixou o seu cântaro de sobre si, e disse: Bebe, e também darei de beber aos teus camelos; e bebi, e ela deu também de beber aos camelos.
47 And Y axide hir, and seide, Whos douytir art thou? Which answerde, Y am the douytir of Batuel, sone of Nachor, whom Melcha childide to him. And so Y hangide eere ryngis to ourne hir face, and Y puttide bies of the arm in hir hondis,
47 Então lhe perguntei, e disse: De quem és filha? E ela disse: Filha de Betuel, filho de Naor, que lhe deu Milca. Então eu pus o pendente no seu rosto, e as pulseiras sobre as suas mãos;
48 and lowliche Y worschipide the Lord, and Y blessid the Lord God of my lord Abraham, which God ledde me bi riyt weie, that Y schulde take the douytir of the brothir of my lord to his sone.
48 E inclinando-me adorei ao SENHOR, e bendisse ao SENHOR, Deus do meu senhor Abraão, que me havia encaminhado pelo caminho da verdade, para tomar a filha do irmão de meu senhor para seu filho.
49 Wherfor if ye don mercy and treuthe with `my lord, schewe ye to me; ellis if othir thing plesith, also seie ye this, that Y go to the riyt side ethir to the left side.
49 Agora, pois, se vós haveis de fazer benevolência e verdade a meu senhor, fazei-mo saber; e se não, também mo fazei saber, para que eu vá à direita, ou à esquerda.
50 Laban and Batuel answeriden, The word is gon out of the Lord; we moun not speke ony other thing with thee without his plesaunce.
50 Então responderam Labão e Betuel, e disseram: Do Senhor procedeu este negócio; não podemos falar-te mal ou bem.
51 Lo! Rebecca is bifore thee; take thou hir, and go forth, and be sche wijf of the sone of thi lord, as the Lord spak.
51 Eis que Rebeca está diante da tua face; toma-a, e vai-te; seja a mulher do filho de teu senhor, como tem dito o SENHOR.
52 And whanne the child of Abraham hadde herd this, he felde doun, and worschipide the Lord in erthe.
52 E aconteceu que, o servo de Abraão, ouvindo as suas palavras, inclinou-se à terra diante do Senhor.
53 And whanne vessels of siluer, and of gold, and clothis weren brouyt forth, he yaf tho to Rebecca for yifte, and he yaf yiftis to hir britheren, and modir.
53 E tirou o servo jóias de prata e jóias de ouro, e vestidos, e deu-os a Rebeca; também deu coisas preciosas a seu irmão e à sua mãe.
54 And whanne a feeste was maad, thei eeten and drunken to gider, and dwelliden there. Forsothe the child roos eerli, and spak, Delyuere ye me, that Y go to my lord.
54 Então comeram e beberam, ele e os homens que com ele estavam, e passaram a noite. E levantaram-se pela manhã, e disse: Deixai-me ir a meu senhor.
55 Hir britheren and modir answerden, The damesele dwelle nameli ten daies at vs, and aftirward sche schal go forth.
55 Então disseram seu irmão e sua mãe: Fique a donzela conosco alguns dias, ou pelo menos dez dias, depois irá.
56 The child seide, Nyle ye holde me, for the Lord hath dressid my weie; delyuere ye me, that I go to my lord.
56 Ele, porém, lhes disse: Não me detenhais, pois o SENHOR tem prosperado o meu caminho; deixai-me partir, para que eu volte a meu senhor.
57 And thei seiden, Clepe we the damysele, and axe we hir wille.
57 E disseram: Chamemos a donzela, e perguntemos-lho.
58 And whanne sche was clepid, and cam, thei axiden, Wolt thou go with this man?
58 E chamaram a Rebeca, e disseram-lhe: Irás tu com este homem? Ela respondeu: Irei.
59 And sche seide, Y schal go. Therfor they delyueriden hir, and hir nurse, and the seruaunt of Abraham, and hise felowis, and wischiden prosperitees to her sister,
59 Então despediram a Rebeca, sua irmã, e sua ama, e o servo de Abraão, e seus homens.
60 and seiden, Thou art oure sister, encreesse thou in to a thousand thousandis, and thi seed gete the yatis of hise enemyes.
60 E abençoaram a Rebeca, e disseram-lhe: Ó nossa irmã, sê tu a mãe de milhares de milhares, e que a tua descendência possua a porta de seus aborrecedores!
61 Therfor Rebecca and hir damesels stieden on the camels, and sueden the man, which turnede ayen hasteli to his lord.
61 E Rebeca se levantou com as suas moças, e subiram sobre os camelos, e seguiram o homem; e tomou aquele servo a Rebeca, e partiu.
62 In that tyme Ysaac walkide bi the weie that ledith to the pit, whos name is of hym that lyueth and seeth; for he dwellide in the south lond.
62 Ora, Isaque vinha de onde se vem do poço de Beer-Laai-Rói; porque habitava na terra do sul.
63 And he yede out to thenke in the feeld, for the dai was `bowid thanne; and whanne he hadde reisid the iyen, he seiy camels comynge afer.
63 E Isaque saíra a orar no campo, à tarde; e levantou os seus olhos, e olhou, e eis que os camelos vinham.
64 And whanne Ysaac was seyn, Rebecca liyte doun of the camel,
64 Rebeca também levantou seus olhos, e viu a Isaque, e desceu do camelo.
65 and seide to the child, Who is that man that cometh bi the feeld in to the metyng of vs? And the child seide to hir, He is my lord. And sche took soone a mentil, and hilide hir.
65 E disse ao servo: Quem é aquele homem que vem pelo campo ao nosso encontro? E o servo disse: Este é meu senhor. Então tomou ela o véu e cobriu-se.
66 Forsothe the seruaunt tolde to his lord Ysaac alle thingis whiche he hadde do;
66 E o servo contou a Isaque todas as coisas que fizera.
67 which Ysaac ledde hir in to the tabernacle of Sare, his modir, and took hir to wijf; and so myche he louede hir, that he temperide the sorewe which bifelde of the deeth of the modir.
67 E Isaque trouxe-a para a tenda de sua mãe Sara, e tomou a Rebeca, e foi-lhe por mulher, e amou-a. Assim Isaque foi consolado depois da morte de sua mãe.
