1 Forsothe the Lord seide to Abram, Go thou out of thi lond, and of thi kynrede, and of the hous of thi fadir, and come thou in to the lond which Y schal schewe to thee;
1 O Senhor disse a Abrão: "Deixa tua terra, tua família e a casa de teu pai e vai para a terra que eu te mostrar.
2 and Y schal make thee in to a greet folk, and Y schal blisse thee, and Y schal magnyfie thi name, and thou schalt be blessid;
2 Farei de ti uma grande nação; eu te abençoarei e exaltarei o teu nome, e tu serás uma fonte de bênçãos.
3 Y schal blesse hem that blessen thee, and Y schal curse hem that cursen thee; and alle kynredis of erthe schulen be blessid in thee.
3 Abençoarei aqueles que te abençoarem, e amaldiçoarei aqueles que te amaldiçoarem; todas as famílias da terra serão benditas em ti."
4 And so Abram yede out, as the Lord comaundide hym, and Loth yede with hym. Abram was of `thre scoor yeer and fiftene whanne he yede out of Aran.
4 Abrão partiu como o Senhor lhe tinha dito, e Lot foi com ele. Abrão tinha setenta e cinco anos, quando partiu de Harã.
5 And he took Saray, his wijf, and Loth, the sone of his brother, and al the substaunce which thei hadden in possessioun, and the men whiche thei hadden bigete in Aran; and thei yeden out that thei `schulen go in to the loond of Chanaan. And whanne they camen in to it,
5 Tomou Sarai, sua mulher, e Lot, filho de seu irmão, assim como todos os bens que possuíam e os escravos que tinham adquirido em Harã, e partiram para a terra de Canaã. Ali chegando,
6 Abram passide thorou the lond til to the place of Sichem, and til to the noble valey. Forsothe Chananei was thanne in the lond.
6 Abrão atravessou a terra até Siquém, até o carvalho de Moré. Os cananeus estavam então naquela terra.
7 Sotheli the Lord apperide to Abram, and seide to hym, Y schal yyue this lond to thi seed. And Abram bildide there an auter to the Lord, that apperide to hym.
7 O Senhor apareceu a Abrão e disse-lhe: "Darei esta terra à tua posteridade." Abrão edificou um altar ao Senhor, que lhe tinha aparecido.
8 And fro thennus he passide forth to the hil Bethel, that was ayens the eest, and settide there his tabernacle, hauynge Bethel fro the west, and Hay fro the eest. And he bildide also there an auter to the Lord, and inwardli clepide his name.
8 Em seguida, partindo dali, foi para a montanha que está ao oriente de Betel, onde levantou a sua tenda, tendo Betel ao ocidente e Hai ao oriente. Abrão edificou ali um altar ao Senhor, e invocou o seu nome.
9 And Abram yede goynge and goynge forth ouer to the south.
9 Continuou depois sua viagem, de acampamento em acampamento, para Negeb.
10 Sotheli hungur was maad in the lond; and Abram yede doun in to Egipt, to be a pilgrime ther, for hungur hadde maistrie in the lond.
10 Sobreveio, porém, uma fome na região; e sendo grande a miséria, Abrão desceu ao Egito para aí viver algum tempo.
11 And whanne he was nyy to entre in to Egipt, he seide to Saray, his wijf, Y knowe that thou art a fair womman,
11 Quando estava para entrar no Egito, disse a Sarai sua mulher: "Escuta, sei que és uma mulher formosa.
12 and that whanne Egipcians schulen se thee, thei schulen seie, it is his wijf, and thei schulen sle me, and `schulen reserue thee.
12 Quando os egípcios te virem, dirão: 'É sua mulher', e me matarão, conservando-te a ti em vida.
13 Therfor, Y biseche thee, seie thou, that thou art my sistir, that it be wel to me for thee, and that my lijf lyue for loue of thee.
13 Dize, pois, que és minha irmã, para que eu seja poupado por causa de ti, e me conservem a vida em atenção a ti."
14 And so whanne Abram hadde entrid in to Egipt, Egipcians sien the womman that sche was ful fair; and the prynces telden to Farao, and preiseden hir anentis him;
14 Chegando Abrão ao Egito, os egípcios notaram que sua mulher era extremamente bela.
15 and the womman was takun vp in to the hous of Farao.
15 Os grandes da corte, vendo-a, elogiaram-na diante do faraó, e a mulher foi introduzida no seu palácio.
16 Forsothe thei vsiden wel Abram for hir; and scheep, and oxun, and assis, and seruauntis, and seruauntessis, and sche assis, and camels weren to hym.
16 por causa dela, Abrão foi bem tratado pelo faraó, e recebeu ovelhas, bois, jumentos, servos e servas, jumentas e camelos.
17 Forsothe the Lord beet Farao and his hous with moste veniaunces, for Saray, the wijf of Abram.
17 O Senhor, porém, feriu com grandes pragas o faraó e a sua casa, por causa de Sarai, mulher de Abrão.
18 And Farao clepide Abram, and seide to hym, What is it that thou hast do to me? whi schewidist thou not to me, that sche was thi wijf?
18 O faraó mandou chamá-lo e disse-lhe: "Que me levaste a fazer? Porque não me disseste que era tua mulher?
19 for what cause seidist thou, that sche was thi sister, that Y schulde take hir in to wife to me? Now therfor lo! thi wiif; take thou hir, and go.
19 Por que disseste que ela era tua irmã, levando-me e a tomá-la por esposa? Mas agora eis tua mulher: toma-a e vai-te!"
20 And Farao comaundide to men on Abram, and thei ledden forth hym, and his wijf, and alle thingis that he hadde.
20 Então, o faraó deu ordens aos seus para reconduzir Abrão e sua mulher com tudo o que lhe pertencia.
