1 And sith fourtene yeer aftir, eftsones Y wente vp to Jerusalem with Barnabas, and took with me Tite.
1 Depois, passados catorze anos, subi outra vez a Jerusalém com Barnabé, levando também comigo Tito.
2 Y wente vp bi reuelacioun, and spak with hem the euangelie, which Y preche among the hethene; and bi hem silf to these that semeden to be sumwhat, lest Y runne, or hadde runne in veyne.
2 E subi por uma revelação, e lhes expus o evangelho, que prego entre os gentios, e particularmente aos que estavam em estima; para que de maneira alguma não corresse ou não tivesse corrido em vão.
3 And nother Tite, that hadde be with me, while he was hethene, was compellid to be circumsidid;
3 Mas nem ainda Tito, que estava comigo, sendo grego, foi constrangido a circuncidar-se;
4 but for false britheren that weren brouyt ynne, whiche hadden entrid to aspie oure fredom, which we han in Jhesu Crist, to bring vs in to seruage.
4 E isto por causa dos falsos irmãos que se intrometeram, e secretamente entraram a espiar a nossa liberdade, que temos em Cristo Jesus, para nos porem em servidão;
5 But we yyue no place to subieccioun, that the treuthe of the gospel schulde dwelle with you.
5 Aos quais nem ainda por uma hora cedemos com sujeição, para que a verdade do evangelho permanecesse entre vós.
6 But of these that semeden to be sumwhat; whiche thei weren sum tyme, it perteyneth not to me, for God takith not the persoone of man; for thei that semeden to be sumwhat, yauen me no thing.
6 E, quanto àqueles que pareciam ser alguma coisa (quais tenham sido noutro tempo, não se me dá; Deus não aceita a aparência do homem), esses, digo, que pareciam ser alguma coisa, nada me comunicaram;
7 But ayenward, whanne thei hadden seyn, that the euangelie of prepucie was youun to me, as the euangelie of circumcisioun was youun to Petre;
7 Antes, pelo contrário, quando viram que o evangelho da incircuncisão me estava confiado, como a Pedro o da circuncisão
8 for he that wrouyte to Petre in apostlehed of circumcisioun, wrouyte also to me among the hethene;
8 (Porque aquele que operou eficazmente em Pedro para o apostolado da circuncisão, esse operou também em mim com eficácia para com os gentios),
9 and whanne thei hadden knowe the grace of God, that was youun to me, James, and Petre, and Joon, whiche weren seyn to be the pileris, thei yauen riythond of felowschip to me and to Barnabas, that we among the hethene, and thei in to circumcisioun;
9 E conhecendo Tiago, Cefas e João, que eram considerados como as colunas, a graça que me havia sido dada, deram-nos as destras, em comunhão comigo e com Barnabé, para que nós fôssemos aos gentios, e eles à circuncisão;
10 oneli that we hadde mynde of pore men `of Crist, the which thing Y was ful bisi to doon.
10 Recomendando-nos somente que nos lembrássemos dos pobres, o que também procurei fazer com diligência.
11 But whanne Petre was comun to Antioche, Y ayenstood hym in the face, for he was worthi to be vndirnommen.
11 E, chegando Pedro à Antioquia, lhe resisti na cara, porque era repreensível.
12 For bifor that ther camen summen fro James, he eete with the hethene men; but whanne thei weren comun, he withdrowy, and departide hym, dredinge hem that weren of circumcisioun.
12 Porque, antes que alguns tivessem chegado da parte de Tiago, comia com os gentios; mas, depois que chegaram, se foi retirando, e se apartou deles, temendo os que eram da circuncisão.
13 And the othere Jewis assentiden to his feynyng, so that Barnabas was drawun of hem in to that feynyng.
13 E os outros judeus também dissimulavam com ele, de maneira que até Barnabé se deixou levar pela sua dissimulação.
14 But whanne Y sawy, that thei walkiden not riytli to the treuthe of the gospel, Y seide to Petre bifor alle men, If thou, that art a Jew, lyuest hethenlich, and not Jewelich, hou constreynest thou hethene men to bicome Jewis?
14 Mas, quando vi que não andavam bem e direitamente conforme a verdade do evangelho, disse a Pedro na presença de todos: Se tu, sendo judeu, vives como os gentios, e não como judeu, por que obrigas os gentios a viverem como judeus?
15 We Jewis of kynde, and not synful men of the hethene,
15 Nós somos judeus por natureza, e não pecadores dentre os gentios.
16 knowen that a man is not iustified of the werkis of lawe, but bi the feith of Jhesu Crist; and we bileuen in Jhesu Crist, that we ben iustified of the feith of Crist, and not of the werkis of lawe. Wherfor of the werkis of lawe ech fleisch schal not be iustified.
16 Sabendo que o homem não é justificado pelas obras da lei, mas pela fé em Jesus Cristo, temos também crido em Jesus Cristo, para sermos justificados pela fé em Cristo, e não pelas obras da lei; porquanto pelas obras da lei nenhuma carne será justificada.
17 And if we sechen to be iustified in Crist, we oure silf ben foundun synful men, whether Crist be mynystre of synne?
17 Pois, se nós, que procuramos ser justificados em Cristo, nós mesmos também somos achados pecadores, é porventura Cristo ministro do pecado? De maneira nenhuma.
18 God forbede. And if Y bylde ayen thingis that Y haue distruyed, Y make my silf a trespassour.
18 Porque, se torno a edificar aquilo que destruí, constituo-me a mim mesmo transgressor.
19 For bi the lawe Y am deed to the lawe, and Y am fitchid to the crosse, that Y lyue to God with Crist.
19 Porque eu, pela lei, estou morto para a lei, para viver para Deus.
20 And now lyue not Y, but Crist lyueth in me. But that Y lyue now in fleisch, Y lyue in the feith of Goddis sone, that louede me, and yaf hym silf for me.
20 Já estou crucificado com Cristo; e vivo, não mais eu, mas Cristo vive em mim; e a vida que agora vivo na carne, vivo-a pela fé do Filho de Deus, o qual me amou, e se entregou a si mesmo por mim.
21 Y caste not awey the grace of God; for if riytwisnesse be thoruy lawe, thanne Crist diede with out cause.
21 Não aniquilo a graça de Deus; porque, se a justiça provém da lei, segue-se que Cristo morreu debalde.
