1 And it was don in the enleuenthe yeer, in the thridde moneth, in the firste dai of the monethe, the word of the Lord was maad to me,
1 No ano décimo primeiro do nosso cativeiro , no dia primeiro do terceiro mês , o Senhor falou comigo. Ele disse:
2 and he seide, Thou, sone of man, seie to Farao, kyng of Egipt, and to his puple, To whom art thou maad lijk in thi greetnesse?
2 — Homem mortal , diga o seguinte ao rei do Egito e a todo o seu povo: “Como você é poderoso! Com o que posso compará-lo?
3 Lo! Assur as a cedre in Liban, fair in braunchis, and ful of boowis, and hiy bi hiynesse; and his heiyte was reisid among thicke bowis.
3 Você é como um cedro no Líbano, com galhos lindos, cheios de folhas, uma árvore tão alta, que chega até as nuvens.
4 Watris nurschiden hym, the depthe of watris enhaunside him; hise floodis fletiden out in the cumpas of hise rootis, and he sente out hise strondis to alle the trees of the cuntrei.
4 Havia água para fazê-lo crescer e rios debaixo da terra para alimentá-lo. Regaram o lugar onde a árvore estava crescendo e fizeram com que ribeirões regassem todas as árvores da floresta.
5 Therfor his hiynesse was enhaunsid ouer alle trees of the cuntrei, and hise trees weren multiplied, and hise braunchis weren reisid, for many watris.
5 Por ter sido bem-regado, o cedro cresceu mais do que as outras árvores, e os seus galhos ficaram grossos e compridos.
6 And whanne he hadde stretchid forth his schadewe, alle the volatils of the eir maden nestis in hise braunchis; and alle the beestis of forestis gendriden vndur hise boowis, and the cumpeny of ful many folkis dwellide vndur the schadewynge place of hym.
6 Aves de todo tipo faziam ninhos nos seus galhos; embaixo dele, os animais ferozes davam cria, e na sua sombra as nações do mundo descansavam.
7 And he was ful fair in his greetnesse, and in alargyng of hise trees; for the roote of hym was bisidis many watris.
7 Como era linda aquela árvore, tão alta e com galhos tão compridos! As suas raízes chegavam até as correntezas profundas.
8 Cedris in the paradijs of God weren not hiyere than he; fir trees atteyneden not euenli to the hiynesse of hym, and plane trees weren not euene with the boowis of hym. Ech tree of paradijs of God was not maad lic hym and his fairnesse.
8 Nenhum cedro no jardim de Deus podia comparar-se com ela, nenhum cipreste teve galhos assim, e nenhuma figueira brava teve ramos iguais aos dela. Nenhuma árvore no jardim de Deus foi tão linda como aquela.
9 For Y made hym fair, and with many and thicke boowis; and alle the trees of lust, that weren in the paradijs of God, hadden enuye to hym.
9 Eu a fiz linda assim e cheia de muitos galhos. No Éden, o jardim de Deus, todas as árvores a invejavam.”
10 Therfor the Lord God seith these thingis, For that that he was reisid in hiynesse, and he yaf his hyynesse greene and thicke, and his herte was reisid in his hiynesse;
10 — Agora, eu, o Senhor Deus, direi a vocês o que vai acontecer. A árvore cresceu tanto, que chegou até as nuvens; mas, conforme crescia, também aumentava o seu orgulho.
11 now Y haue youe hym in to the hondis of the strongeste man of hethene men. And he doynge schal do to that Assur; aftir the vnfeithfulnesse of hym Y castide hym out.
11 Por isso, rejeitei a árvore e vou deixar que um rei estrangeiro a conquiste. Ele dará a ela o tratamento que a sua maldade merece.
12 And aliens, and the moost cruel men of naciouns, schulen kitte hym doun, and schulen caste hym forth on hillis. And hise braunchis schulen falle doun in alle grete valeis, and hise trees schulen be brokun in alle roochis of stoon of erthe. And alle the puplis of erthe schulen go awei fro his schadewing place, and schulen forsake hym.
12 Estrangeiros cruéis a derrubarão e a abandonarão. Os seus galhos e ramos quebrados cairão em todos os vales e em todas as montanhas do país. Todas as nações que viveram embaixo da sua sombra irão embora.
13 Alle volatils of the eir dwelliden in the fallyng of hym, and alle beestis of the cuntrei weren in the braunchis of hym.
13 Os pássaros pousarão na árvore caída, e os animais ferozes andarão por cima dos seus galhos.
14 Wherfor alle the trees of watris schulen not be reisid in hir hiynesse, nether schulen sette hir hiynesse among places ful of woode, and ful of boowis, and alle trees that ben moistid of watris schulen not stonde in the hiynesse of tho. For alle thei ben youun in to deth, to the ferthest lond in the myddis of the sones of men, to hem that goon doun in to the lake.
14 E assim, daqui em diante, nenhuma árvore, por mais bem-regada que seja, crescerá tanto, que os seus galhos cheguem até as nuvens. Todas elas estão condenadas a morrer como seres humanos mortais e a se juntarem com aqueles que descem para o mundo dos mortos .
15 The Lord God seith these thingis, In the dai whanne he yede doun to hellis, Y brouyte yn mourenyng; Y hilide hym with depthe of watris, and I forbede his flodis, and Y refreynede many watris. The Liban was sori on him, and alle the trees of the feeld
15 O Senhor Deus diz o seguinte: — No dia em que a árvore descer ao mundo dos mortos, farei com que as águas que estão debaixo da terra a cubram, como sinal de tristeza. Farei com que os rios parem e não deixarei que os muitos ribeirões corram. A árvore morreu, e por isso trarei escuridão sobre os montes Líbanos e farei com que sequem todas as árvores da floresta.
16 weren shakun of the soun of his falling. I mouide togidere hethene men, whanne Y ledde hym doun to helle, with hem that yeden doun in to the lake. And alle trees of likyng, noble trees, and ful cleere in the Liban, alle that weren moistid with watris, weren coumfortid in the loweste lond.
16 Quando eu a lançar no mundo dos mortos, o barulho da sua queda abalará as nações. Todas as árvores do Éden e todas as árvores do Líbano, as mais belas e mais bem-regadas e que já estão no mundo lá de baixo, vão ficar contentes com a sua queda.
17 For whi also thei schulen go doun with hym to helle, to slayn men with swerd; and the arm of ech man schal sitte vndur the schadewyng place of hym, in the myddis of naciouns.
17 Elas irão com ela ao mundo dos mortos para se juntar com aquelas que já haviam caído. E todos os que viviam na sua sombra serão espalhados entre as nações.
18 To whom art thou licned, thou noble and hiy among the trees of likyng? Lo! thou art led doun with the trees of likyng to the fertheste lond. In the myddis of vncircumcidid men thou schalt slepe, with hem that ben slayn bi swerd. Thilke is Farao, and al the multitude of hym, seith the Lord God.
18 — A árvore é o rei do Egito e todo o seu povo. Nem mesmo as árvores do Éden eram tão altas e vistosas. Mas agora, como as árvores do Éden, ela descerá ao mundo dos mortos e se juntará aos que não foram circuncidados e aos que forem mortos na guerra. Eu, o Senhor Deus, falei.
