1 And the Lord seide to Moises, Yit Y schal touche Farao and Egipt with o veniaunce, and after these thingis he schal delyuere you, and schal constreyne you to go out.
1 Então o S enhor disse a Moisés: “Atingirei o faraó e a terra do Egito com mais uma praga. Depois disso, o faraó os deixará sair de seu território. Quando, por fim, ele permitir que saiam, praticamente os expulsará.
2 Therfor thou schalt seie to al the puple, that a man axe of his freend, and a womman of hir neiyboresse, silueren vessels and goldun, and clothis;
2 Diga a todos os homens e mulheres israelitas que peçam objetos de prata e ouro a seus vizinhos egípcios”.
3 forsothe the Lord schal yyue grace to his puple bifor Egipcians. And Moises was a ful greet man in the lond of Egipt, bifore the seruauntis of Farao and al the puple;
3 (O S enhor havia feito os egípcios verem o povo com bons olhos. Moisés era tido em alta consideração na terra do Egito e respeitado tanto pelos oficiais do faraó como pelo povo egípcio.)
4 and he seide, The Lord seith these thingis, At mydnyyt Y schal entre in to Egipt;
4 Moisés disse: “Assim diz o S enhor : À meia-noite de hoje, passarei pelo meio do Egito.
5 and ech firste gendrid thing in the lond of Egipcians schal die, fro the firste gendrid of Farao, that sittith in the trone of hym, til to the firste gendrid of the handmayde, which is at the querne; and alle the firste gendrid of beestis schulen die;
5 Morrerão todos os filhos mais velhos do sexo masculino, em todas as famílias do Egito, desde o filho mais velho do faraó, sentado em seu trono, até o filho mais velho da serva mais humilde que trabalha no moinho. Até mesmo os primeiros machos dentre todos os animais morrerão.
6 and greet cry schal be in al the lond of Egipt, which maner cry was not bifore, nether schal be aftirward.
6 Então se ouvirá um grande lamento na terra do Egito, um lamento como nunca houve e nunca mais haverá.
7 Forsothe at alle the children of Israel a dogge schal not make priuy noise, fro man til to beeste; that ye wite bi how greet myracle the Lord departith Egipcians and Israel.
7 Quanto aos israelitas, porém, nem um cão latirá contra eles ou seus animais. Com isso vocês saberão que o S enhor faz distinção entre os egípcios e os israelitas.
8 And alle these thi seruauntis schulen come doun to me, and thei schulen preye me, and schulen seie, Go out thou, and al the puple which is suget to thee; aftir these thingis we schulen go out.
8 Todos os oficiais do Egito virão até mim e se curvarão, suplicando: ‘Por favor, vá embora! Saia logo do Egito e leve com você todo este povo que o segue!’. Só então eu sairei!”. E, ardendo de ira, Moisés saiu da presença do faraó.
9 And Moyses was ful wrooth, and yede out fro Farao. Forsothe the Lord seide to Moises, Farao schal not here you, that many signes be maad in the lond of Egipt.
9 O S enhor tinha avisado a Moisés: “O faraó não lhe dará ouvidos, por isso farei milagres ainda mais poderosos na terra do Egito”.
10 Sotheli Moises and Aaron maden alle signes and wondris, that ben writun, bifor Farao; and the Lord made hard the herte of Farao, nether he delyuerede the sones of Israel fro his lond.
10 Moisés e Arão fizeram todos esses milagres na presença do faraó, mas o S enhor lhe endureceu o coração, e ele se recusou a deixar o povo de Israel sair de sua terra.
