1 Naquela noite o rei não conseguiu dormir; por isso ordenou que trouxessem o livro das crônicas do seu reinado, e que o lessem para ele.
2 me cam to the place, where it was writun, hou Mardochee hadde teld the tresouns of Gabathan and Thares, oneste seruauntis, couetynge to strangle kyng Assuerus.
2 E foi lido o registro de que Mardoqueu tinha denunciado Bigtã e Teres, dois dos oficiais do rei que guardavam a entrada do Palácio, que haviam conspirado para assassinar o rei Xerxes.
3 And whanne the kyng hadde herd this, he seide, What onour and meede gat Mardochee for this feithfulnesse? And hise seruauntis and mynystris seiden to hym, Outirli he took no meede.
3 "Que honra e reconhecimento Mardoqueu recebeu por isso? ", perguntou o rei. Seus oficiais responderam: "Nada lhe foi feito".

5 Os oficiais do rei responderam: "É Hamã que está no pátio". "Façam-no entrar", ordenou o rei.
6 And the kyng seide, Entre he. And whanne he was comun yn, the kyng seide to hym, What owith to be don to the man, whom the kyng desirith onoure? Aaman thouyte in his herte, and gesside, that the kyng wolde onoure noon othere man no but hym silf;
6 Entrando Hamã, o rei lhe perguntou: "O que se deve fazer ao homem que o rei tem o prazer de honrar? " E Hamã pensou consigo: "A quem o rei teria prazer de honrar, senão a mim? "
7 and he answeride, The man, whom the kyng couetith to onoure,
7 Por isso respondeu ao rei: "Ao homem que o rei tem prazer de honrar,
8 owith to be clothid with the kyngis clothis, and to be set on the hors which is of the kyngis sadel, and to take the kyngis diademe on his heed;
8 ordena que tragam um manto do próprio rei e um cavalo que o rei montou, e que leve o brasão do rei na cabeça.
9 and the firste of the princes and stronge men of the kyng holde his hors, and go bi the stretis of the citee, and crie, and seie, Thus he schal be onourid, whom euer the kyng wole onoure.
9 Em seguida, sejam o manto e o cavalo confiados a alguns dos príncipes mais nobres do rei, e ponham eles o manto sobre o homem que o rei deseja honrar e o conduzam sobre o cavalo pelas ruas da cidade, proclamando diante dele: ‘Isto é o que se faz ao homem que o rei tem o prazer de honrar! ’ "
10 Therfor the kyng seide to hym, Haste thou, and whanne `a stoole and hors is takun, do thou, as thou hast spoke, to Mardochee the Jew, that sittith bifor the yatis of the paleis; be thou war, that thou leeue not out ony thing of these, whiche thou hast spoke.
10 O rei ordenou então a Hamã: "Vá depressa apanhar o manto e o cavalo, e faça ao judeu Mardoqueu o que você sugeriu. Ele está sentado junto à porta do palácio real. Não omita nada do que você recomendou".
11 Therfor Aaman took `a stoole and hors, and yede, and criede bifor Mardochee clothid in the strete of the citee, and set on `the hors, He is worthi this onour, whom euer the kyng wole onoure.
11 Então, Hamã apanhou o cavalo, vestiu Mardoqueu com o manto e o conduziu sobre o cavalo pelas ruas da cidade, proclamando à frente dele: "Isto é o que se faz ao homem que o rei tem o prazer de honrar! "
12 And Mardochee turnede ayen to the yate of the paleis, and Aaman hastide to go in to his hows, morenynge, and with the heed hilid.
12 Depois disso, Mardoqueu voltou para a porta do palácio real. Hamã, porém, correu para casa com o rosto coberto, muito aborrecido
13 And he teld to Zares, his wijf, and to frendis alle thingis that hadden bifelde to hym. 13 e contou a Zeres, sua mulher, e a todos os seus amigos tudo o que lhe havia acontecido. Tanto o seus conselheiros como Zeres, sua mulher, lhe disseram: "Visto que Mardoqueu, diante de quem começou a sua queda, é de origem judaica, você não terá condições de enfrentá-lo. Sem dúvida, você ficará arruinado! "
