1 I, Nabugodonosor, was restful in myn hous, and flourynge in my paleis;
1 O rei Nabucodonosor às pessoas de todos os povos, nações e línguas, que habitam em toda a terra: “Que a paz lhes seja multiplicada!
2 Y siy a dreem, that made me aferd; and my thouytis in my bed, and the siytis of myn heed disturbliden me.
2 Pareceu-me bem tornar conhecidos os sinais e as maravilhas que Deus, o Altíssimo, tem feito para comigo.”
3 And a decre was set forth bi me, that alle the wise men of Babiloyne schulden be brouyt in bifor my siyt, and that thei schulden schewe to me the soilyng of the dreem.
3 “Como são grandes os seus sinais, e como são poderosas as suas maravilhas! O seu reino é um reino eterno, e o seu domínio se estende de geração em geração.”
4 Than false dyuynours, astronomyens, Caldeis, and biholderis of auteris entriden; and Y telde the dreem in the siyt of hem, and thei schewiden not to me the soilyng therof, til the felowe in office,
4 — Eu, Nabucodonosor, estava tranquilo em minha casa e feliz no meu palácio.
5 Danyel, to whom the name was Balthasar, bi the name of my God, entride in my siyt, which Danyel hath the spirit of hooli goddis in hym silf; and Y spak the dreem bifor hym.
5 Tive um sonho que me espantou. Quando eu estava na minha cama, os pensamentos e as visões que passaram diante dos meus olhos me perturbaram.
6 Balthasar, prince of dyuynouris, whom Y knowe, that thou hast in thee the spirit of hooli goddis, and ech sacrament, ether preuytee, is not vnpossible to thee, telle thou to me the visiouns of my dreemes, whiche Y siy, and the soilyng of tho.
6 Por isso, expedi um decreto, ordenando que fossem trazidos à minha presença todos os sábios da Babilônia, para que me revelassem a interpretação do sonho.
7 This is the visioun of myn heed in my bed. Y siy, and lo! a tree was in the myddis of erthe, and the hiynesse therof was ful greet.
7 Então vieram os magos, os encantadores, os caldeus e os feiticeiros. Eu lhes contei o sonho, mas eles não puderam me revelar a sua interpretação.
8 And the tree was greet and strong, and the heiythe therof touchide heuene, and the biholdynge therof was `til to the endis of al erthe.
8 Por fim, apresentou-se Daniel, que é chamado de Beltessazar, em honra ao nome do meu deus. Ele tem o espírito dos santos deuses, e eu lhe contei o sonho, dizendo:
9 The leeuys therof weren ful faire, and the fruyt therof was ful myche, and the mete of alle was in it; beestis and wielde beestis dwelliden vndur it, and briddis of the eir lyuyden in the braunchis therof, and ech man ete of it.
9 “Beltessazar, chefe dos magos, eu sei que você tem o espírito dos santos deuses e que não há mistério que você não possa explicar. Vou lhe contar o sonho que eu tive, para que você me diga o que ele significa.
10 Thus Y siy in the visioun of myn heed, on my bed. And lo! a wakere, and hooli man cam doun fro heuene,
10 Estas foram as visões que passaram diante dos meus olhos quando eu estava deitado na minha cama: eu estava olhando e vi uma árvore no meio da terra, cuja altura era enorme.
11 and he criede strongli, and seide thus, Hewe ye doun the tree, and kitte ye doun the bowis therof, and schake ye awei the leeuys therof, and scatere ye abrood the fruytis therof; beestis fle awei, that be vndur it, and briddis fro the bowis therof.
11 A árvore cresceu e se tornou forte, de maneira que a sua altura chegou até o céu; ela podia ser vista desde os confins da terra.
12 Netheles suffre ye the seed of rootis therof in erthe, and be he boondun with a boond of irun and of bras, in erbis that ben with out forth, and in the deew of heuene be he died, and his part be with wielde beestis in the erbe of erthe.
12 A sua folhagem era bela, o seu fruto era abundante, e nela havia sustento para todos. Debaixo dela os animais selvagens achavam sombra, e as aves do céu faziam morada nos seus ramos; e todos os seres vivos se alimentavam dela.
13 His herte be chaungid fro mannus herte, and the herte of a wielde beeste be youun to hym, and seuene tymes be chaungid on hym.
13 No meu sonho, quando eu estava na minha cama, vi um vigilante, um santo, que descia do céu,
14 In the sentence of wakeris it is demed, and it is the word and axyng of seyntis, til lyuynge men knowe, that hiy God is Lord in the rewme of men; and he schal yyue it to whom euere he wole, and he schal ordeyne on it the mekeste man.
14 gritando em alta voz: ‘Derrubem a árvore, cortem os seus ramos, arranquem as folhas e espalhem os seus frutos. Espantem os animais que estão debaixo dela e as aves que fazem morada nos seus ramos.
15 Y, Nabugodonosor, the kyng, siy this dreem. Therfor thou, Balthasar, telle hastili the interpretyng, for alle the wise men of my rewme moun not seie to me the soilyng; but thou maist, for the spirit of hooli goddis is in thee.
15 Mas o toco, com as raízes, deixem na terra, amarrado com correntes de ferro e de bronze, em meio à erva do campo. Que esse toco seja molhado pelo orvalho do céu, e que a parte que lhe cabe seja a erva da terra, junto com os animais.
16 Thanne Danyel, to whom the name was Balthasar, began to thenke priueli with ynne hym silf, as in oon our, and hise thouytis disturbliden hym. Forsothe the kyng answeride, and seide, Balthasar, the dreem and the interpretyng therof disturble not thee. Balthasar answeride, and seide, My lord, the dreem be to hem that haten thee, and the interpretyng therof be to thin enemyes.
16 Que o coração dele seja mudado, para que não seja mais coração humano, e lhe seja dado coração de animal; e passem sobre ele sete tempos.
17 The tree which thou siyest hiy and strong, whos heiythe stretchith `til to heuene, and the biholdyng therof in to ech lond,
17 Esta sentença é por decreto dos vigilantes, e esta ordem é por mandado dos santos, para que os que vivem saibam que o Altíssimo tem domínio sobre o reino dos homens. Ele dá esse reino a quem quer, e põe sobre ele até o mais humilde dos homens.’”
18 and the faireste braunchis therof, and the fruyt therof ful myche, and the mete of alle in it, and beestis of the feeld dwellynge vndur it, and the briddis of the eir dwellynge in the boowis therof,
18 — Este foi o sonho que eu, rei Nabucodonosor, tive. Você, Beltessazar, diga a interpretação, porque todos os sábios do meu reino não puderam me revelar a interpretação. Mas eu sei que você pode, porque você tem o espírito dos santos deuses.
19 thou art, kyng, that art magnefied, and wexidist strong, and thi greetnesse encreesside, and cam `til to heuene, and thi power in to the endis of al erthe.
19 Então Daniel, cujo nome era Beltessazar, ficou perplexo por algum tempo, e os seus pensamentos o perturbavam. Então o rei lhe disse: — Beltessazar, não deixe que o sonho ou a sua interpretação o perturbem. Beltessazar respondeu: — Meu senhor, quem dera o sonho fosse a respeito daqueles que o odeiam, e a sua interpretação se aplicasse aos seus inimigos!
20 Sotheli that the kyng siy a wakere and hooli come doun fro heuene, and seie, Hewe ye doun the tree, and distrie ye it, netheles leeue ye the seed of rootis therof in erthe, and be he boundun with irun and bras, in erbis with out forth, and be he bispreynt with the deew of heuene, and his mete be with wielde beestis, til seuene tymes be chaungid on hym;
20 A árvore que o senhor viu, que cresceu e se tornou forte, cuja altura chegou até o céu, que foi vista por toda a terra,
21 this is the interpretyng of the sentence of the hiyeste, which sentence is comun on my lord, the kyng.
21 cuja folhagem era bela, cujo fruto era abundante, na qual havia sustento para todos, debaixo da qual os animais selvagens achavam sombra, e em cujos ramos as aves do céu faziam morada,
22 Thei schulen caste thee out fro men, and thi dwellyng schal be with beestys and wielde beestis, and thou schalt ete hey, as an oxe doith, but also thou schalt be bisched with the dew of heuene, also seuene tymes schulen be chaungid on thee, til thou knowe, that hiy God is Lord `on the rewme of men, and yyueth it to whom euer he wole.
22 aquela árvore é o senhor, ó rei, que cresceu e veio a ser forte. A sua grandeza, ó rei, cresceu e chega até o céu, e o seu domínio se estende até a extremidade da terra.
23 Forsothe that he comaundide, that the seed of rootis therof, that is, of the tree, schulde be left, thi rewme schal dwelle to thee, aftir that thou knowist that the power is of heuene.
23 Quanto ao vigilante ou santo que o rei viu, que descia do céu e que dizia: “Cortem e destruam a árvore, mas deixem o toco com as raízes na terra, amarrado com correntes de ferro e de bronze, em meio à erva do campo; que esse toco seja molhado pelo orvalho do céu, e que a parte que lhe cabe seja com os animais selvagens, até que passem sobre ele sete tempos”,
24 Wherfor, kyng, my counsel plese thee, and ayenbie thi synnes with almesdedis, and ayenbie thi wickidnessis with mercies of pore men; in hap God schal foryyue thi trespassis.
24 esta é a interpretação, ó rei, e este é o decreto do Altíssimo, que virá contra meu senhor, o rei:
25 Alle these thingis camen on Nabugodonosor, the kyng.
25 o senhor será expulso do meio das pessoas, e a sua morada será com os animais selvagens; o senhor comerá capim como os bois, e será molhado pelo orvalho do céu; e passarão sete tempos, até que o senhor, ó rei, reconheça que o Altíssimo tem domínio sobre os reinos do mundo e os dá a quem ele quer.
26 After the ende of twelue monethis he walkide in the halle of Babiloyne;
26 Quanto ao que foi dito, que se deixasse o toco da árvore com as suas raízes, isto significa que o seu reino voltará a ser seu, depois que o senhor tiver reconhecido que o Céu domina.
27 and the kyng answeride, and seide, Whether this is not Babiloyne, the greet citee, which Y bildide in to the hous of rewme, in the miyt of my strengthe, and in the glorie of my fairnesse?
27 Portanto, ó rei, aceite o meu conselho: abandone os seus pecados, praticando a justiça, e acabe com as suas iniquidades, usando de misericórdia para com os pobres; assim talvez a sua tranquilidade se prolongue.
28 Whanne the word was yit in the mouth of the kyng, a vois felle doun fro heuene, Nabugodonosor, kyng, it is seid to thee, Thi rewme is passid fro thee,
28 Tudo isso, de fato, aconteceu com o rei Nabucodonosor.
29 and thei schulen caste thee out fro men, and thi dwellyng schal be with beestis and wielde beestis; thou schalt ete hey, as an oxe doith, and seuene tymes schulen be chaungid on thee, til thou knowe, that hiy God is Lord in the rewme of men, and yyueth it to whom euere he wole.
29 Passados doze meses, quando estava passeando no terraço do palácio real da cidade da Babilônia,
30 In the same our the word was fillid on Nabugodonosor, and he was cast out fro men, and he eet hey, as an oxe doith, and his bodi was colouryd with the deew of heuene, til hise heeris wexiden at the licnesse of eglis, and hise nailis as the nailis of briddis.
30 o rei disse: — Não é esta a grande Babilônia que eu construí para a casa real, com o meu grandioso poder e para glória da minha majestade?
31 Therfor after the ende of daies, Y, Nabugodonosor, reiside myn iyen to heuene, and my wit was yoldun to me; and Y blesside the hiyeste, and Y heriede, and glorifiede hym that lyueth with outen ende; for whi his power is euerlastynge power, and his rewme is in generacioun and in to generacioun.
31 Enquanto o rei ainda falava, veio uma voz do céu, que disse: — A você, rei Nabucodonosor, se anuncia o seguinte: Este reino lhe foi tirado.
32 And alle the dwelleris of erthe ben arettid in to noyt at hym; for bi his wille he doith, bothe in the vertues of heuene, and in the dwelleris of erthe, and noon is, that ayenstondith his hond, and seith to hym, Whi didist thou so?
32 Você será expulso do meio das pessoas, e a sua morada será com os animais selvagens; você comerá capim como os bois, e passarão sete tempos, até que você reconheça que o Altíssimo tem domínio sobre os reinos do mundo e os dá a quem ele quer.
33 In that tyme my wit turnede ayen to me, and Y cam fulli to the onour and fairnesse of my rewme, and my figure turnede ayen to me; and my beste men and my magistratis souyten me, and Y was set in my rewme, and my greet doyng was encreessid grettir to me.
33 No mesmo instante, se cumpriu a palavra sobre Nabucodonosor. Ele foi expulso do meio das pessoas e começou a comer capim como os bois. O seu corpo foi molhado pelo orvalho do céu, até que lhe cresceram os cabelos como as penas da águia, e as suas unhas, como as garras das aves.
34 Now therfor Y Nabugodonosor herie, and magnefie, and glorifie the kyng of heuene; for alle hise werkis ben trewe, and alle his weies ben domes; and he may make meke hem that goon in pride.
34 — Mas ao fim daqueles dias, eu, Nabucodonosor, levantei os olhos ao céu, e recuperei o entendimento. Então eu bendisse o Altíssimo, e louvei e glorifiquei aquele que vive para sempre: “O seu domínio é eterno, e o seu reino se estende de geração em geração.
35 — ausente —
35 Todos os moradores da terra são considerados como nada, e o Altíssimo faz o que quer com o exército do céu e com os moradores da terra. Não há quem possa deter a sua mão, nem questionar o que ele faz.”
36 — ausente —
36 — Nesse tempo, recuperei o entendimento e, para a dignidade do meu reino, recuperei também a minha majestade e o meu resplendor. Os meus conselheiros e os homens importantes vieram me procurar, fui restabelecido no meu reino, e a minha grandeza se tornou ainda maior.
37 — ausente —
37 Agora eu, Nabucodonosor, louvo, engrandeço e glorifico o Rei do céu, porque todas as suas obras são verdadeiras, e os seus caminhos são justos. Ele tem poder para humilhar os orgulhosos.
